- The second half of the Alaska Highway took us through the Yukon and WOW, what a magical place!
The Yukon is one of Canada’s three territories and is known for the Klondike Gold Rush and its immense wilderness and wildlife. We spent 3.5 days driving through the Yukon and were constantly in awe by the sheer beauty of the landscapes around us.

Thanks for putting the travel dates here. We are planning a 2023 Alaska trip and the date vs location info helps. Please keep giving the dates. (A subtitle at the start of each video would be awesome, lol.) Really enjoy following you guys all over the country.
Seriously, you guys have the best travel vlogs on UA-cam! They're both entertaining and informative. I particularly respect the fact that that you do thorough research on every location you visit. I'm sure the locals with whom you come into contact appreciate that also. Compared to the supernatural beauty if BC, the Alberta Rockies and the big cities of Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, the Yukon is often overlooked and underappreciated, even by most Canadians. Thank you for providing such a comprehensive perspective on this magnificent part of our great nation. Oh, and Kona is just as cute as a button! 🐕
Thanks, Terry! The Yukon was super spectacular! We've loved every inch (cm? 😜) of Canada we've visited. We haven't visited the eastern side of the country, but we will one day. We're very excited for the large cities there and the beauty of Newfoundland and Labrador!
@@AdventuresofAplusK You're very welcome! It's okay to use inches, lol. We still use then too.
I hitchhiked to Yukon and stayed for forty years…my heartbeat still skips when I see photos/ movies of the place!
What a ride! Awesome!
Where did you hitchhike from?
@@lex.cordis took the ferry from Prince Rupert BC to Haines Alaska…got to Whitehorse three days later , first night spent next to a small hillside cemetery by Haines airport…hitched two rides…last on a school bus with a drunken driver. Arrived In Whitehorse June 23 1974
@@tonypolyck5012 Wow. Thanks for sharing!
@@tonypolyck5012You should write a book!
My grandfather was a lieutenant in the U.S. army and was in charge of a black contruction battalion that participated in building of the Alaska highway. I have a Alaska leather bound photo album with him and his battalion in it. I LOVE your videos.
Oh interesting! Thanks and thanks for watching!
SO HAPPY you got to experience some indigenous culture while you were there. Canada is filled with different indigenous cultures, traditions, languages, bands, the list goes on. And learning it directly from an indigenous person or elder, is such an incredible experience that I wish more folks had the opportunity to do. Its imperative to promoting and preserving their culture for decades to come after years of losing so much of it through assimilation (including supporting them through compensation is such an incredible thing to do - so thank you for that :)). So happy to see that you enjoyed it and shared it on your channel, thank you!!
We totally agree! We love learning about indigenous and First Nations cultures and we were thankful we could share it. We also think it's important for people to learn about them and the history, as horrible as it is. Thanks and thanks for watching!
A+K - Your videos are the highlight of our week. We love everything about you guys and you bring us so much inspiration in our own adventures. The way you share your videos makes us feel like we are friends. Thanks for sharing your travels and experiences. We truly feel like it has made our lives better! A couple of things:
1. Your green chili looks amazing! Would you be willing to share the recipe?
2. Adam- we love the pillowy food descriptions! It makes us smile every time.
Your comment means a lot to us! That really makes us feel good so thank you for that!
1. The green chili pork recipe couldn't be easier...I buy a port shoulder/butt (2-3 lbs because we have the smallest InstantPot) and a large jar of green salsa. Dice up the pork into 1 inch-ish chunks and dump the salsa in and mix it around. I usually do 30-35 minutes, but look up the cooking time for your size InstantPot and how much meat you put in there. Then, at the end sometimes I like to crisp it up in a hot skillet
2. Haha I probably need to lay off "pillow-y" for a bit! 😂 but it's fun anyway!
Thanks for watching, Becky!
Yeah, that chili looked awesome!
Such quality and quantity with your videos, guys. I am loving joining in on this trip. What beautiful places. I really appreciate how much time and effort y'all put into these videos. Thanks so much for sharing. Take care and have fun.
Thank you so much! Your comment means a lot to us! Thanks for watching!
literally the best video i've ever seen. Yukon is a magical place.
Thank you!
I absolutely enjoy the destinations you both select, the interests you have along the way, the appreciation of the people and the cultures, and the general excitement you have about the wilderness. And your presentation, links, coordinates here on UA-cam are invaluable. It is greatly appreciated and I'm grateful. I'm watching all the videos even though I'm focused on certain areas for my trip. Thank you!
We're so glad we can be helpful! Thank you and thanks for watching!
I really enjoyed the visit to Long Ago Peoples Place. I'm also the type that likes factory tours and seeing how things work. That couple was so gracious and it looked like Harold spent a lot of time with you. Also MAJOR PROPS to Adam for knowing how to fix his instrument cluster. I wouldn't have had a clue. From converting your sprinter to doing repairs, Adam is the man.
Also, when you get to the Kenai and if you need lunch/coffee, the Kenai Princess Wilderness lodge on a bluff above the Kenai river was great. It is only a short drive off the road from Anchorage to Seward.
The Long Ago People Place was so informative and they were very kind to show us around and spend so much time with us. They do a lot of good over there!
Luckily the dealership told me how to fix it when it happened last time. Thankfully it worked! Thanks, Steve!
Oh my gosh what a beautiful segment, I'm 72 and this is a drive I have always wanted to make but I'm not sure that's gonna happen so I am enjoying your love of its beauty and how much you share so I'm considering this is my trip. Like I said before I'm in Portland Oregon and I've been to Alaska twice but I flew into Anchorage and went from there. Pray God blesses you as you enjoy His beauty what a amazing world hes given us what an amazing sculpture and artist and you guys enjoy it so wonderfully and share it so well. Thank you so much look forward to this trip. Praying for safe passage protection favor favor and a glorious time. Bless you guys, God-bless you real good!
Thank you so much! We hope you can get out here again! It’s a gorgeous, wonderful place!
Thanks for sharing this excellent video! It brought back memories of moving our daughter up to Alaska in August of 2019. We drove from Bountiful, Utah to Anchorage in five days, a distance of just under 3200 miles. British Columbia and Yukon are spectacular.
The images on this episode were so crisp and clear. Loved the beauty of all the wilderness vistas. The three of you romping down the sand dune was heartwarming.
Thanks, Stephen! We had a blast!
Thank you for the special meeting you had with the first peoples. So interesting and told us about a culture so far away that many of us will never meet. You have done such a great job so far. I have never seen anyone traveling the Alaska Hwy give so much detail and take time for documenting such a large part of the epic scenery. I am enjoying this trip immensely. Can’t wait to see what comes next !
We are so thankful we had that opportunity to learn from them! We love learning and sharing the history and context of places we visit. Thanks and thanks for watching!
Love that this one is about 8 minutes longer than the last one! So much to see and share with us - thank you!! Seriously, I'd watch a full-length film of your Journey to Alaska travel highlights on a big screen any day! The First Nations focus you've honored is outstanding. Maybe you should also add a "pillow-y" and "windshield chip" counter to your tracking. Glad I'm not the only one who also sees a rock and thinks it's an animal... :) Loved that unexpected sand dunes sight, too. Hoping to see lots of fireweed in your future films - hope you've tried some fireweed honey by now! Finally, what would you do for a Klondike Bar?
We're enjoying sharing these longer ones! Our next few will be a good mix of average to longer length. Haha we do need a "pillow-y" counter and hopefully won't need a windshield chip one!
We tried some fireweed honey ice cream the other day and it was awesome!
I've had that dang jingle stuck in my head for weeks....lol
Oh man that was indeed epic, the views, the food, the First Nations experience. Just wow! All of this is just a teaser to Alaska, right? Thanks again for sharing your journey!!
Oh ya! It gets even better if you can believe it!
A "Teaser" ??? Meaning Alaska is "that much better" than the Yukon ??? Well, it is bigger, but not if you include the western North West Territories (NWT) of Canada to the Mackenzie River, largest in the country, which runs south to north and drains into the Arctic Ocean. The western N.W.T. is part of the same landscape and climate of Alaska and the Yukon. One of the social problems of this region, which I experienced when I travelled this region to your 49th state in 2008, was the haughtiness and even snottiness of SOME citizens of the USA, who believe Canada is a 10 percent version of the USA. Well, we have 10 percent of your population, most of it in the south because if you go NORTH of Dawson Creek, British Columbia (Mile Zero of this road at latitude 55 degrees) ANYTIME from October to May, it will be below freezing during the day, and there may be snow on the ground in some form or another, and plenty of it in mid-winter, with temperatures so cold in winter the average southern American will NOT BELIEVE IT or how ANYONE COULD SURVIVE IT, even for 5 minutes. Canada has the same quality of life and the same Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as the USA on a per-capita basis, it shocks many Americans that Canada is consistently the 8th to10th richest nation in the entire World OVERALL for GDP out of 200+ nations, and along with Australia with an even smaller population and which places about 12th to 14th, Canada and Australia are consistently the only 2 nations in the top 15 of the World's GDP countries with a population BELOW 50 million people (Canada 37 million people / Australia 26 million people / USA 330 million people). And I hope you will leave your comment on this thread and my comment too, because it needs to be said right here at the top of the page, I left Alaska with something of a "bad taste in my mouth" after a 2 week trip there due to the attitudes of SOME Americans there, one of the first things the American bus driver told me when we crossed into Alaska going from Whitehorse to Fairbanks was that "Canadian jokes will NOT be allowed on the bus"............ when I said I wanted to "hear them all" he replied............... NO, you don't want to hear them all, some are really, really BAD.................
For those of us who will probably never get to travel the Alaskan highway, thanks for letting us come along with you.
We're thankful we can share our experience and journey on here for others to enjoy as well! Thanks for watching!
Love your videos! Found you guys about a month ago when searching for videos on Maine, then checked out your channel and have been watching your trip to Alaska. You blend a good combination of being professional and personable which makes your videos fun and educating at the same time. Love it when you show the bloopers at the end :) Also, we have a dog that we would love to travel with some day. Since I can't travel right now, watching makes me feel like I am. Keep up the great videos!
Thank you so much! We love to share context and history about the places we visit!
We love the bloopers too and share those anytime we have them!
We hope you can get back out there soon! Thanks and thanks for watching!
Another entertaining and educational video, such an interesting part of the world. I can't wait for you guys to get into Alaska.
We can't wait to share what we've been up to! Thanks for watching, Dave!
Thanks for an incredible video showcasing the beauty, wildness, history and culture of the Yukon and not just rushing through to Alaska! I have lived in the Kluane region for over 20 years and I'm awed every day by its stunning views. I will definitely be watching more of your videos.
What a Gem, such vast beauty everywhere you both go. Awesome videos keep them coming! Safe travels 🛣🚐😊
The Yukon is a major gem! Thanks and thanks for watching!
Awesome video!!! The Carcross Desert with the Emerald Lake and mountains... BEAUTIFUL!!! Thank you for sharing the history especially the Long Ago People's Place. It is all so very interesting!!! We were singing the Klondike tune too...lol.
It was such a diverse part of our journey! We loved learning about and sharing Long Ago Peoples Place. And that dang jingle has been stuck in my head for weeks...lol
Oh my goodness! The views in this vlog are amazing! I can't imagine what they're like in person! Great vlog as always.😀
They are spectacular!
Your vlogs are so visually stunning! Love the way you travel as well! I feel like you make us all feel like we can do it too!
Thank you, Carla! That's one of the things we strive for is to make it so someone could take our video and do what we do!
Loved that sign post forest. Reminds me of when Kara and Nate visited the Hill of Crosses in Lithuania and were like 'if you come, find out cross' - now people will be doing it in Canada for you guys! Such a shame that the SS Klondike was closed for renovations during your visit as I imagine it would have been awesome to get a nosey around the inside, but the Rib and Salmon restaurant seemed to make up for it, the setting looked amazing, as did the food, and the other customers cheering you on was so cool - cherry on top of the cake was when you said they were government officials! 🙌🤣 Thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Long Ago Peoples Place and hearing about the way of life and history. The animal traps were amazing and listening to your de-brief after the visit, it sound like you guys got so much out of it too!
The Sign Post Forest was such a neat spot to stop. Yes it reminded me of the Hill of Crosses too now that I think about it. We hope to get some photos from people with our sign. That would be the coolest! Seeing the SS Klondike would've been really neat. We'll have to go back! The food definitely made up for it though! It was delectable! It was so funny when that large group of government officials came in haha
And the Long Ago Peoples Place was so amazing. We're thankful they gave us that tour after showing up unannounced! We really did get a lot out of that experience. We're very interested in learning about that topic and to learn first hand can't be beat!
Throughout the 1970's, 1980's, 1990's, it was very popular for retired Americans, the so-called "Greatest Generation" in your country (in some ways) to take a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Alaska from the lower 48 to the "Last Frontier" which is Alaska's nickname. In summer, there was an almost steady stream of Recreational Vehicles from the USA going through British Columbia, Alberta, and the Yukon with retired American couples making their trip to your 49th state. The Watson Lake sign forest is one of their legacies, most of the signs there were left from that era, although of course it started with the original highway builders in 1942, and with the recent interest in adventure travel around the World in the new millenium, including more people from Europe and Asia, many more signs have been added, some with hometowns across oceans to the far ends of the earth.
Another beautiful video in a long line; every week is prettier than the last.😎😎😎👍👍👌👌
Thanks, Charles!
I'm a local in Whitehorse and just wanted to say you did a beautiful job of showing off out little city! Glad you could visit, come again soon!
Thank you means a lot to us especially coming from a local!
We were pleasantly surprised that the video was longer. It made for a wonderful tv show in the evening. We could watch you guys for hours. Thanks for sharing the Yukon and beyond.
We have enjoyed making these longer videos as well! The next handful will be a mix of our regular length and some longer ones. Thanks for watching! We're excited to share more!
It's fun reliving my drive up the Alcan with your videos. I capped my solo driving days at 7 hours so I could explore, hike, go to visitors centers, and meet locals.
I appreciate the bits of history and mentions of Native American history.
I spent a lot of my 6th day also exploring Whitehorse.
Thanks for another great video.
The Alcan is such an amazing drive isn't it?! Ya 7 hours in a day is a lot. We don't like to drive that much in a day either.
Whitehorse was a great stop!
Absolutely beautiful video you two! Definitely want to take a road trip there sometime soon! God bless you both and enjoy this epic journey and creating moments and memories that will last a lifetime! Thanks for sharing - love you both!
We hope you can make it up here, Larry! It's an incredible journey from start to finish! We're happy and thankful we can share our journey and experiences for others to enjoy as well!
Kathryn's description after visiting Long Ago Peoples Place was so much from the heart. Very moving. Cheers!
We really gained a lot from that experience!
So pretty! Emerald Lake looks amazing. I'll that half the fun of watching these videos is seeing how excited you two are for this trip. Thank you so much for sharing.
It's been a trip of a lifetime!
Love you guys. Reminds me of the old Kara and Nate when it wasn’t $20,000 hotel ads but real travel. (No disrespect to them) one chill personality and another bubbly charismatic personality is just awesome . 😀
We're really glad you enjoy our videos! 😊
Same! I actually found them thru OG KN fans. So down to earth and relatable. Watching A + K inspires me to plan trips that I can do!
I have watched several couples driving up the Alaska Highway. You 2 give the most information and visit more sites than anyone else . Thankyou very much .
That was so fascinating to learn about how the indigenous people lived. Not sure if they realized they were teaching way more than a couple from the lower states. I have learned so much about Alaska by this one video.
Yes that was a fascinating tour they took us on. We learned so much too! We're glad we could share it for others to learn as well!
Your videos just keep getting better and better Thank You!!!
Thank you!
Pretty beautiful drive and your video was much in detail. Much appreciated sharing your journey
Another great Episode! Thanks!
Wow INCREDIBLE views, thanks to you both for sharing the view of mother nature, AMAZING stay safe all the time😍😘❤
We're thankful and lucky we get to share our journey and experiences! Thanks for watching!
puts a smile on my face to see you 2 having a great time, currently I am unable to do this, in time as I gain stregth, it will be added to my bucket list
Kathryn thinking of you & hoping you are feeling better.🥰 So many gorgeous landscapes(again) on this stretch of the ALCAN!🙀So appreciate the respect you 2 show for the land, the history, and First Nation.❤️I keep getting Jack London vibes as your trek continues & imagine his excitement matched yours as the Yukon reveals itself!👊🏼Adam you are so handy!👍🏼 You 3 be well & avoid those pesky mosquitoes as much as you can! Hugs to Kona.🐶
Thank you! She is starting to feel a lot better! Hopefully almost out of it.
It is so incredibly gorgeous in that area. It's a bummer that many people who drive through the Yukon don't stop to experience it. I'm thankful we did and can't wait to see more one day.
The dash thing was a headache, but at least it was a quick fix. Thanks!
Omg YAY! I’ve been waiting for this!
Woohoo!
Hey guys, Yukoner here. Nice video. I love your enthusiasm. Most Alaska bound travel logs book through Yukon in about 15 seconds. Thank you for taking more time. Just a few suggestions, visit Atlin, just 50 miles south of the Alaska highway though in BC.
Klondike rib and salmon has fesh halibut fish and chips to die for.
Oh man they are missing out! There is so much to see and do in the Yukon! We LOVED it!
Atlin looks nice! Thanks for the tip!
We watched to try their salmon or halibut, but they didn't offer it during lunch for some reason.
So true, as another Yukoner it is nice to have someone show off our beautiful territory.
Another great video guys! Brought back memories of our visit to the Yukon and Alaska four years ago. I remember the Emerald Lake vividly. Can’t wait for the next video. Safe travels! ❤️
Emerald Lake is a gem! We're excited to share more!
That was one of the best nomad adventure videos I have seen. Safe travels and look forward to watching your other videos and adventures
Kluane National Park is probably the most beautiful place we have ever seen. I am reliving our trip along the Alaska Highway and into Alaska thru your adventures and cannot wait for more! It was the road trip of a lifetime.
It really is! I couldn't believe it! I can't wait to see more of it one day! Thanks for watching!
Great work of exploring the north. I live in the Yukon and you guys did both this and Alaska right! It's definitely underappreciated and there is so much here to do.
Yes there is so much to see and do! Thanks and thanks for watching!
This video is a classic. You cover so much - from the desert to the food to hikes. Excellent!
We thought it had a good variety as well! Thanks, Pete!
That's absolutely amazing! A fun and exciting hiking tour experience. Lots of variety in this video, beautiful locations.
Ya the variety in this one was a lot of fun to experience and piece together into a video! Thanks for watching!
You two are so much fun to watch!! So enjoy the informative way and history you share in your videos. Epic travel adventure!💕
Thanks, Karen! We're having a blast and were thankful we can share our journey!
Great video
New long A+K video let's goooooooo!
Let's gooooo! Woohoo!
Incredible Awesome Video…you both do such a fantastic job on these videos..The scenery is out of this world…check out that burger and those ribs..just Yum..thanks for bringing this Yukon Adventure! Stay safe!
Thanks, Michael!
“To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other and to feel. That is the purpose of life.” ~ The secret life of Walt Mitty. Every time I watch this movie I think of you two, I mean, obviously you do travel videos and show us all the places and foods, but at the same time, you make me feel… I don’t know how to explain it, feel the crispy air, feel the crushing waves, feel closer to the jaw dropping sceneries I have never been. 🥰🥰🥰
That's one of my (Adam) favorite movies! I need to rewatch it again! Thank you for your very kind and insightful comment! That made our day! We are very thankful and lucky we get to share our experiences and journey in this way!
Paradise on earth...❤❤love this place...❤❤
I love how much info you guys give in each episode. Like cliff notes of a wiki page haha. And you guys give it with such ease like you have a teleprompter or something. Seeing your travels really makes me want to get outside!
Thank you! That means a lot to us!
The stark, raw beauty of the Yukon is so breathtaking. The Long Ago People’s Place would have to be at the very top for me because of their culture(s) that have lasted to this very day. Their way of life meshes so perfectly with nature and the ruggedness of their land, and their respect and love for all living things is exemplary. Thank you so much for sharing this with all of us.
Yes we totally agree! The Yukon is amazing and vast and the Long Ago Peoples Place was such a great learning opportunity. We're so glad we could share it for others to enjoy as well. Thanks for watching!
Just discovered your channel, and am extremely impressed! Fun, scenery, info, adventures...you have it all! Time to binge watch all of your awesome videos!
Awesome! Thank you!
Loving not only the scenery, but also the First Nations info as well as the other things to do and see. Someday.... Someday... (lol).. Thank you for such a wonder vlog that is so informative. Until next time... Travel Safe.
OH... I wonder if the plug just wiggled loose from the instrument cluster? Good thing you knew what to do.
We are so thankful we got that opportunity to learn from and share the First Nations experience!
I don't think it wiggled lose because it has a mechanism that you have to release and then it can be removed. When we had it looked at in January there was some corrosion back there and they replaced the part that had corrosion. Hopefully it's not making a comeback!
@@AdventuresofAplusK See if you can find a spray can of Contact cleaner, and toss that in your tool(s) kit.
Another terrific video. The scenery is spectacular. Thank you for sharing another great adventure. 🥰🌻🐕
Thanks, Guadalupe!
Always find your videos enjoyable. That scenery is beautiful. Thank you for sharing. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thanks, Loretta!
Another gorgeous video! 😃 We’re especially fond of this one because it brought back memories of our 18 day Alaskan land/sea tour with Holland America back in 2005. We stopped in many of the places you covered in this video, and it was great seeing them again. Wishing you fun travels 😃
It is a beautiful part of the world, isn't it!? We're glad we could spin up those memories for you. Thanks, Bob!
This has been such a great series!! Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you!
The entire video was amazing. The Journey north has not disappointed. Glad the instrument panel rebooted! Whew! Thanks so much for sharing!😀👍
We were glad it worked again as well. We could've been in a real pickle! We loved our journey through Canada! Can't wait to share Alaska soon!
I visited the Yukon last summer, and seeing this video brought back so many happy memories from such a beautiful place! It makes me want to go back. Thanks for sharing!
We loved the Yukon! We can’t wait to see more on our way back to the lower 48. Thanks and thanks for watching!
Beautiful video! Fascinating history! Thanks!
Thank you!
Awesome episode! Loved your sign! You have some major art skills. The scenery is amazing! Travel safely.
Kathryn says thank you! Thanks for watching, Alan!
Amazing video. My wife and I planned to drive from Manitoba to Yukon next summer. Now, it is confirmed. We are going. Thank you guys.
I look forward to your videos each week. I can’t wait for the next one…very exciting!! Your videos are the best and the places you visited…b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l…. beautiful!!! Take care and have fun!!

If you see it snap a photo with it and send it to us! Thanks, Lynda!
wooohoooo!!! Every week I am more and more sure I want to do this trip next year!! Safe travels to ya! (and hope your dash stays put)
Oh you HAVE to do it if you can! It is a long trip, but so so worth it! Thanks, Kathi!
Awesome series. You guys have become my favorite UA-cam Vloggers. I loved the First nations tour you took us on it was fascinating. I want to learn more!
Thanks, John! We had a lot of fun with this video!
I just love watching your videos. The scenery is always spectacular and I really like how you utilize maps to display where you are going. You two are amazing!
Thanks, Debbie! Thanks for watching!

I really like your videos. Love Kona, and your upbeat presence! Not to mention the gorgeous travel places you take me. Keep ‘em comin! 😍
Thanks, Suzanne!
So many videos just show driving thru to a destination … really appreciate how you stop & hike & see the history of the area!😁
We love to stop and experience as much as we can and share some history and context along the way! Thanks, Julie!
BEAUTIFUL photography!! Beautiful scenery!! - lakes, mountains, rivers! Yukon Rib & Salmon Burger was HUGE!! - Looked SO GOOD! Loved the sound of the rain on the van. NICE SAVE on the electrical glitch!! Bless you on your way. (watching from Pismo Beach, CA).
We really liked how the rain sounds came out! Everything we experienced in this part of the journey was spectacular!
I like the editing, I appreciate that you make your scene length longer than some other channels---it's not too fast that it blurs my brain, and I like the SCIENCE and the HISTORY, but especially the Science! Love the maps that you show for more than just a three seconds like some other channels do. Really like the maps! I appreciate your scene length; Take your time editing scene length...Much appreciated! I watched this one several times and Subscribed.
Thanks and thanks for watching!
Loved this one. As others have said, I love the research you put into the vids. That tour was so cool. What an experience.
We were lucky and thankful they were kind enough to show us around after we showed up unannounced! Thanks, Nate!

We're hoping to experience more of Canada over the next couple years as well. We haven't seen any of the east coast and is likely where we'll go next in Canada after this trip!
