9 New Electric Mopeds Available in 2020: A Good Alternative to an Ebike?

- Electric vehicles seem to be everywhere. After having some considerate successes in terms of battery development and manufacturing, more and more companies that work in development and production of various means of transportation are trying to implement the all-electric drivetrains in their products. But can we really blame them? They are following the latest changes in how people commute, they help promoting zero-emission vehicles and implement the latest innovations that could help consumers get better satisfaction with their products.
But while many think that electric vehicles (EVs) would predominantly be in the form of cars, trucks and SUVs, the analytical data shows that most people are actually drawn to two wheeled transport. Electric motorcycles, scooters and bicycles are cheaper in price compared to a car and are accessible to more consumers. So it's not so hard nowadays to spot an ebike or a scooter on the street.
It has been proven by many people in Asia, India and Europe that in order to commute around the city or go grocery shopping, you don't need to get a car. The latest models of bicycles and scooters could come with handy cargo racks that will provide plenty of room for your cargo. We have extensively covered it in our videos here and maybe people in the USA and North America could get such EVs to their liking too: • Electric motorcycles, ...
If you are afraid that your e-scooter would run out of charge but would like to have more seating comfort than an average biker, then there is a product that combines the best of two worlds: an e-moped.
Just like a regular motorbike, a moped comes with an elongated seat that is suitable for long range commuting, and has pedals for you to extend the trip in case you run out of battery juice.
By the modern standards a moped is basically an underpowered scooter that falls under less strict requirements that also requires less paperwork. Why should you consider such a vehicle? Well, when combined with a battery-electric powertrain, a moped could be considered a perfect city commuter that is also characterized by nearly negligible running costs.
Here we would like to make an overview of the newest moped models that arrive to end traffic jams in modern urban jungles and equip everyone with affordable personal means of transportation. We would give a brief explanation of all technical specifications, provide information about pricing and help you make up your mind if you ever need to buy one of these. - Наука та технологія

A moped used to be loosely defined as having pedals and can go up to 30mph top speed and get great gas mileage with a tiny 2-stroke combustion engine. The pedals were for starting the engine as pedalling it to get somewhere was not an easy task. The moped category was never really well defined b/c it was only popular during the gas crisis of the 70's. With today's technologies, the term "Moped" is definitely changing!
The definition of a moped when I was a kid was:
Something fun to ride until your friends saw you on it.
I love my Lectric XP 😍
Unfortunately the DMV's definition has not yet changed. It's so hard to register one of these things. Onyx owner

I love the pedal hybrids that look like retro/vintage motorbikes!
I like the way the battery on the Monday Motorbike battery comes out easily and the styling; however, I would switch to the carbon belt drive system and a slightly larger motor.
The Cake Plus model has me tempted with its 68 mile range, 56 MPH top speed, versatility and cargo carrying ability, matched to Scrambler like prowess that uses front/rear shocks and robust fenders. The added bonus is the DOT approved headlight.
So worth it man the bike will last a long time +5 years with the battery
I live in the middle of 1000+ acre ranch and have multiple dirtbikes, but these electric bicycles intrigue me. I’m going to have to get one at some. All electric with pedal assist sounds like a win win on any trip. I hate walking to see my favorite sights around the country
Hello, glad this overview was helpful. Hope you were able to find a model that suits you.
I think a step through frame is most functional, but most designers want to emulate the old gas tank look of traditional motorcycles. The big issue limiting the realization of these e-bikes is regulation and insurance. Hope that changes soon.
You need to do a side by side drag race & side by side top speed race comparing all the models to each other.
The Stinger, it's nice that there is one that has good preference and is American made!
Nice review...👊🏿👍🏿
That Huck moped looks sick!!!!!!
He's first sentence" we came to find the most affordable bikes." First product 1000, next one 2000 , and after that 6000 what the hell thats not cheap🧐🧐🧐
Why do I get dorky looking ones if I google electric mopeds uk??
Cleveland Cyclewerks Falcon BLK was my favorite. 😉
9:25 “Across the entire Europe” ? That sounds awkward
My opinion, the old scooter looking bikes are my favorite, and the prices are stupidly high!
If the Tremel comes to the UK, I suggest they drop the name Zimmer.
As an American, can I ask y?
@@arksrandom5968 A Zimmer frame is a device used by elderly people to help them walk. Essential for them, but definitely the wrong image for this product.
@@mrstandfast2212 ah I c, thx for the clarification
I liked all these bikes. How can I place an order? Please send more information or notification.
The Dach man 💪love it
Thanks for this video!
Glad it was helpful!
Nothing goes over my Hercules👌🏼
I'm torn between the Monday and the Huck style, but I'd definitely go w/ one of those......
The Huck ones look damn good; if you're into that whole vintage esthetic sorta thing. Also, it seems to have a better price to performance ratio than the Monday. The Onyx one isn't too shabby either. To be frank, I'd be ecstatic with either one.
@@Simon-iy7mt huck is better and has stickers and modes for legality. It goes to 60mph too! Monday is top 45
Huck is better get huck plzzz
Steve why are u getting mad at me lol huck upped its prices cause it was getting so many orders. What are you saying??
The Monday Motorbike has stickers too. Once you go over 30 MPH you’re entering electric motorcycle territory. GEN7 has the range advantage by 30 miles too. Love it
The Oslo streamlined design makes me think it'd be hard to lock to a rack with a bike chain.
Just loved the Huck and the Tremel. They have a pared down style with some retro love,... So glad you showed these, as I thought I'd seen them all, but I'd never seen these before. They look better constructed than the Monday. It looks too plasticky to me. It was nice to see the pricing, although I know it updates all the time. I'm going to check manufacturer websites on that now. I might be able to afford the Huck!
It would have been helpful for links to be in the description. Also providing the weight capacity along with other stats would make your review more than just eye candy.
Hello, thanks for the feedback. We will try updating it. Meanwhile, the site urls are displayed in the top right corner of the video.
Great video!! Maybe I’ll make the cut next time😉
Hello, thanks for your feedback!
I seen something here in Korea that looks like a Huck. I think they are asking $1500 for it.
Could be a Chinese version.
Why is some mopeds have no pedals ,some manufacturers have not seen the difference mo as in motor ped as in pedals hence mopeds if they cant get the names right how can you be sure they have anything else right
there's a difference between a bicycle and a motorbike - one you must license, one you do not. They put pedals on so it can be classed as a bicycle, because that's how a bicycle is defined. Basically you slap pedals on and you sell more bikes, even if the pedals don't do anything.
@@Psycandy: The Ebike mopeds (equipped with pedals) also usually have an electronic speed limiter so as to not allow or exceed 32-40 kph (20-25 mph). You can bypass it, but take a chance on damaging the electronic controller & motor; and if caught exceeding the speed limit the police will confiscate the bike & you'll need to pay a fine + an impound penalty. As of yet, they're also not recognized in most jurisdictions as being registered vehicle due to DOT regulations & almost impossible to insure...
Please add in your description availability i.e. available only in the EU, will start shipping to US customers this year, only available in the US etc. You did a good job for the electric Dutchman, why not do it for each of them? Thank you for the video.
Hello, thanks for your feedback. We will take that into consideration and try doing that in our future videos. Will try to create a follow up comment with this information for you for this one.
I really like electric mopeds, but I like long rides too. Say 200 kilometers per day...
So, as long as the range is this short and recharging takes longer than 20 minutes, it's the regular moped for me.
My moped takes me 200 km's on a tank and refilling takes only a minute.
Go to delfast ebikes they have an ebike with 240mile range
Nothing on the super73 r series?
That bike sucks the motor uses shitty plastic gears
😁What's my favorite. Every one of it. Everybody did a tremendous job designed these electric scooter, and mopeds. Ebikes and scooters is now the most popular one out there. Glad I modified one of them myself. Thinking about putting on Instagram.
Right on!
Another thumbs up for the Huck as a motorcyclist the styling is beautiful.
Thank you kindly
Love the Huck cycles, style reminds me of the old Honda SS50.
65MPH, on that? Holy sh$t! It would make a great commuter vehicle, in the summertime, when it's not raining. It could make a good "midlife crisis" bike, if you can't afford a Harley. With the full leathers, of course.
Mopeds are a blast until you get hit by an SUV.
ua-cam.com/channels/f5U7zqpEX20XBL7-5zUTKA.html
I really like the look of the Huck, i can see myself on that one with a set of cafe handle bars. Expensive but its the future.
It's looks amazing!
Durability with low maintenance, the key I'm looking for!
Basically the race, hick and cake are the most useful/stylish although the cake could use a bigger set of tires 17" front and rear would do. The erockit is a nice one too just think they could use a longer seat and a little more styling. Other than that make sure its at least rated for 55mph i mean a 400cc kingquad will hit 58mph. Oh and if they could get the prices of these down to the ~$1200 area they would dominate the market.
I love the rcr bike from onyx and the community around it, and all ebikes. hopefully one day I can afford one so I can support ebikes.
Steve yea and If u had a motorcycle license why would u want a shitty ebike. I’d get a super powerful Harley
I will probably either get an Onyx or Huck next year.
Did you get one?
If the Onyx drops to 3400 I’m getting ASAP
I wish I could too
I dont think it will. Because they have literally soooo many orders
It will not do so
0IIIIII yea but its still worth the money
Zachary S I live in Massachusetts, these are made in California. I’m worried that if I buy one it’ll break and I’ll have no way to fix it? What do you think?
Surprised the UBCO 2x2 didn't make this list. Its a contender!
Hello, thanks for your suggestion. It's an amazing model and it is to be featured in the new video. But we don't recall it having a set of pedals, is that correct?
@@Datacube Correct! Was that part of the criteria for this list? I saw the CAKE Ösa and assumed otherwise
OSA - Cake is Genius ! There are some really nice looking bikes here :D
In the UK, you would have to register, insure, and tax an electric moped if it does not have pedal assist for legal reasons + wear a crash helmet = extra cost, but not a Ebike (EAPCs), that said there is a stupid limit of 15mph for ebikes in the UK.
Really a nice bike for a throttle controlled bike. Will not be adding it to our fleet until a torque sensor is offered. Then it would ride like a real bike.
Huck had my eye most.
I own an onyx rcr. Its a blast. Coolest scooter not shown the Ego by Urbet. I might buy it if they will ship it from spain
Hello, thanks for the suggestion.
i rlly want the RCR but i dont have the money for it sad
The second I heard the commentators voice I knew this was gonna be a good video his Reddit commentaries are unbelievable
What do you think of these new electric mopeds? Would you get one of these over an electric bicycle? Share your thoughts below!
💕Love my⚡ebikes🚴
The Huck has the best styling imo. I'd love to see that perhaps come as a DIY build kit to save money.
Way over priced!
Gotta get that Huck Stinger😍😍😍
Me too if looks awesome
I like the Air by Rumble motors
I like the E Rocket
Love this new "bare frame electric mopeds/scooters" trend
Hello, thanks for your feedback. We are planning on making more videos on this topic. Stay tuned!
It's 2020 and they still use hub motors?
Hello, what motor technology would you rather have them use?
@@Datacube hub motors make heavy wheels which results in poor handling. Mid-drive motors are the only way to go...
R those ebike water proof? ?????
Rumble Air FTW... But now the Rumble Air SS!!!
Hello, thanks for your feedback. Checked out their new model too. Looks sweet, doesn't it?
The Dutch one is beautiful.
timestamps would be nice
I'd rather have an electric bike that you could classify as a electric moped
$6,000 to $7,000 for a moped? I can probably find a used Tomos for like $100
At $7k... I'd much rather have a car :(
For real never spent more than 1500 for a car. Bought an audi and an Acura tl lol fuck this
Sur-ron should have been on this list. Its by far the best priced and performance
Ösa translates to 'to scoop' in English, not spoon.
skryllen ...but is more likely from the expression “ös”, like in “fullt ös” or “var’e nåt ös i helgen eller...” meaning speed or funny thing happening...
@@fredstork ofc but still no spoon 😊
So a 16KW motor can go 88kph but a 0.75KW motor can top 72kph? Motor power ratings seem a little disconnected, so to speak, you'd imagine the 16KW could hit 1,000 mph if the other claim is true.
I don't see why you're showing the OSLO when the crowdfunding campaign failed in 2019, a year before this video
Super 73 Rx ✊😎
Tremmel looks really nice, I want one now, and the Huck is cool as Huck :D Others also displaying good benefits, like the Dutch delivery one I don't enjoy hearing delivery scooters belch out noise and oil into the air, to be fair there aren't really any bad bikes here and there ARE lots of good ones. One thing to remember is this... What is the condition of the streets and terrain you intend to ride on ? More powerful ebikes (1 horse / 746W and above) require less in terms of pressure from the legs on the pedals (pedalling). When you press the pedals you lift your body weight off the seat and reduce feedback from the road surface, which is more pronounced depending on speed and tyre width and suspension setup
Grocery runs are critical, second to work
Huck Cycles has the best price to performance out of all these bikes
Where are thay ?
@@gazbarnett2102 North Carolina
still expensive for what it is
Did you forget the Sur Ron X? Its better than all the ebikes on this list
Your right, but you will never convince people that like these hub motor bikes. None of the top bike makers use hub motors. Shimano, Trek, Cube, Sur Ron. Hub motors are cheap and don't last very long but easy to build a bike with them. Luna sells mid drive motors that are very good and priced to compete with hub motors.
Can I have a Saturday motorbike? Don't like Monday's.
=)
Why cant they make a real classic looking moped without a straight pipeframe and simple looking parts.
Should be called MEPED... Not Moped.
Are these Insurable?
Don't think they are legal in UK.
HUCK 🔥
I thought spoon is "sked" in Swedish.
I like the technology, but for the price of these mopeds you could buy a nice used Harley Sportster or 850 Triumph.
And you completely missed the point of the presentation!!! Electric is here to stay....you missed the point!
No, I do not miss the point, I have an electric bike and I love it. Ride it every day. My point is the price point on these models being too high. You can get very good, high end e bikes for half the price of these mo peds. The quality of build on these in this video can not possibly compare to that of a Harley or Triumph, both of which I have owned. I do believe that Harley has an electric bike now,
@@williamsaloka9043 the point was mostly that some can be driven without a license or registration
@@gregmyers534 Then if you did not miss the point, good... no problem. My son has a fairly new Harley, and they do have problems. I also have an E-bike. It is awesome. I think that it's "all good"!! Electric prices are going to come down. It just depends on your needs and what you want. It's very good to have choices.
Longest range is my interest
Hello, thanks for your feedback. We will try putting a video on this topic if needed.
The Huck has nice performance. 105 km/h is highway speed lol.
As soon as I saw the price of the first one! I'm outa here
What u mean bruh that’s mad cheap lol
$1400 is seriously cheap, especially for a brand new road-legal vehicle, and when you through in costs like insurance, gas and parking, it's well worth the cost over a car, for some people.
they are all very pricey!
Battery are not cheap
Only two things stand in the way of these machines becoming common place on all roads everywhere in the world.
One = Regional differences in law. (we need global standard classification)
Two= Price... Right now the prices are way too high for what you're actually getting.
Whats needed is something the average person can afford ( under £100 ) and yet maintains soom style.
Hello, thanks for your feedback. Do you think it's possible?
... we can make 90% of these at home with some steel frames and used moped parts...
Sure but you need better parts for these electric bikes as they are so powerful the can destroy parts of the frame
@@zacharys1502 nothing a bit of welding can solve
Cake and Dutchman for me.
Why do they all look like they have been put together in a shed by a 16 year old?
30mph without a helmet doesn't seems very safe...
Do I need license ?
Hello, thanks for your feedback. In most cases - yes. It's good to check local regulations too.
Huck, Monday and Onyx all look like motorcycles (because they are) and put you in a grey area where you need to register them to be legal. 60 mph on any of these seems way too fast and will get beginners in real trouble. Stick with specs closer to class 2 if you have no riding experience .
Hello, thanks for your feedback. Those seem to fill the niche between scooters and mopeds. Also, as you mentioned, 60 mph is too much for any of these to handle.
Aren't all ebikes mopeds by definition?
Huck ,price and disk brake all the all.
Stupid money for these, the Huck wins tho
Vee rubber.. skimping on the tire quality there tremmel
HUCK is the best
WATOP that you!?
early days
55-65 mph is pretty rapid for an ebike, do you need a licence to ride one of the quick ones? If not, why not? At 60mph you are a LONG way from a pedal cycle!
Yea u need lisense
Hahaha that is soooo not what ösa means 😂😂😂 spoon haha
These bikes look so cheap without having a rear fender, just my opinion.
What are the laws on these? Need a licence of some kind?
Depend which and depend where you live. .
Mopeds don't have paddles, these are not mopeds but ebikes.
Mopeds can have a max 4kw motor..
Hello, thanks for your feedback. What do you mean no pedals?
