10 Electric Motorbikes Ranked by Affordability and Range: feat. Super Soco and Onyx Mopeds

- Опубліковано 15 жов 2024
- A compact motorbike is a perfect way to get around the city or cover short distances. While Americans are still to find out about benefits of such rides and develop a love towards them, consumers in European and Asian countries don't seem to enough of them.
With many innovations taking place in the transportation industry and Tesla slowly taking over in the auto niche, it was only the matter of time when all-electric motors will be placed inside compact mopeds and motorbikes.
Not only do these things already exist and being produced, they are getting more affordable day after day.
All of the information and media used in this video are intended to serve an educational purpose. The credits section contains information about the manufacturers and sources of facts presented in this clip.
We put together a review of the cheapest e-motorbike models that have been produced up to date and ranked these electric vehicles by their affordability, riding range and quality.
These electric motorbikes offer the best bang for the buck and are very likely to become even more popular in the upcoming years. We also extensively covered other electric motorcycle news in this playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLeYSci69dx4lp9xBgbW-pLJ-1G-wphplS.html
lie to get much view
Why would we lie to you? Everything is correct here. $2000 is the price of the cheapest bike in the video.
Links are in a separate comment above.
Make a video for the 10 cheapest ebike less than 1k
2 years ago were there any SUPER 73's? If so. I can't believe that they were more expensive than the Onyx...
None of these bikes I would consider "affordable". The last one shows it goes for $2000. But, if you go to the website you will see it's priced at $2000 (without battery). The battery starts at $1000 and goes up to $1550. I bought a 2000 Suzuki Marauder VZ800 with 7k miles for $2000. That, to me, is AFFORDABLE!!
Hello, thanks for your comment. Let us clarify something, are you suggesting to buy a product that has been around for 18 years and runs on gas instead of these?
I'm not suggesting anything. I'm just stating facts. But, in the terms of "affordability", yes. I believe I got a great deal. My bike may be 18yrs old but it's been well maintained. That said, I am interested in electric motorbikes. But what we're getting in range and top speed and let's not forget the replacement cost of the battery down the road, I don't consider the pricing "affordable". Then again, maybe I'm just a cheapass. 😉
New products are more expensive, this applies to all products out there. Electric motorcycles still have a long way to go. Still we can say that they are good enough already. They are more expensive than gas bikes, though there is an advantage of having lower refueling cost (if we can call electricity - fuel.)
A new yamaha r3 costs twice what the last bike costs. It is definitely affordable in comparison to anything new.
I would agree. Current motorcycle market prices are stupid. $7500-$10,000 average price. The problem is, people continue to buy bikes at these prices.

Hello, thank you for your comment. A little breather was suggested by on of the viewers, this way everyone could have more time to take a look at the bikes, as well as study the specifications. Would you rather have us read the list of specs?
@@Datacube He meant that you talk to slooooww. Otherwise a great video!
No he meant he should stop adding like 1-2 second pauses right drop dead in the middle of a sentence like a broken, laggy, and depressed male Alexa.
Don't watch the video, are you entitled much? You're the product of parents never saying no, so cringe! 😕
@DrivingWithDillon I sped the vid up at x1.75. Made it thru.
When you can reach 250 miles in distance and average 75mph with secondary pack for 500mile a day ride.... give me a call. I personally will drive it all over South/North America, Alaska, every country in Europe and every island nation on continent nonstop!
Hello, thanks for your feedback. A bike with such specs is something that we are all dreaming about, although we are afraid that to drive for so long and so fast this bike will need to take a battery pack from Tesla Semi truck =) Currently, none of the available compact battery packs will never give us a 750 mile range. There is still hope, did you watch one of our previous videos, where we talked about a motorcycle with a 250 mile range?
Battery weight would be more
Carbon fiber body
And a trick(secret)
We hope that you are planning to share the secret and not just leave us hanging...
Need custom bldc motor for that
And funding
250miles is to much at present but per charge would more than current bikes
Thanks for making content about electric stuff. I wish there were more guys like you.
As mopeds I like them all, but there are three bikes that stand out above the rest.
Super soco White ghost and Rush two, in that order.
As a moped type bike Super soco has good range and a good price, Ghost is more like a proper motorcycle but with bicycle range, Rush two seems more like an off road bike but potentially could be used as a road bike, but seems a little on the small side.
All things into consideration they all if used as mopeds would be pretty suitable except ghost, they call cold be taking into your house/flat to be charged or take the battery out to be charged except ghost.
But ghost is a nice looking bike, that should reflect what it is and not what it ain't.
Thanks for sharing your opinion. We like the amount of detail you put into your comments. All of the bikes that you listed offer the best bang for the buck. They also happen to look good. We hope that more viewers find out about the affordability of such products. While many are craving for more range, 30-60 miles and an option to pedal on some bikes make these viable to be used in cities. Some of them have detachable batteries that you also mentioned as a must have feature.
If it doesn’t have pedals and goes over 20, it needs to be registered and have insurance just so you know. I like the Onyx electric bikes myself because of their motorcycle like looks but moped classification.
Currently I have a wood stove for heating and winter cooking inside with outside one as well. It cycles the output 2 times then goes thru simple line condensing to a container then up around and produces pure clean combustible fuel. Higher octane than gas. I bottle it and run my vehicles. Has no fume odor when cycled thru motor. I installed entire unit on small truck. It produces ready fuel To instantly burn by truck motor. Aside a fuel tank that fills when engine not running but still burning wood. No smoke or any kind of debris. Better mileage. I gather thrown away wood going to landfill, and downed trees from storms. I'm really set.
Update. 6/17/20
The onyx CTY is now discontinued.
The onyx RCR is now around $4,200
Add another $250 for S&H
Damn. 2200 profit for those dudes
Thanks for the video. I am riding a ‘07 Triumph Bonnie every day, commuting to the office. At the rate I am putting on mileage she will last a long time.... but when it is time to replace I will definitely be looking electric... quiet, low maintenance, no need to detour for fuel (evening in the garage plugged into the wall)... just makes sense. Thinking the same for my MX bikes. The touring bike is another matter... range anxiety and the lack of charging infrastructure puts that purchase well in the future.
For the motorbikes which are rated for 60-ish miles range, do you get more range if you go slower/on more level ground?
Hello, thanks for your comment. Yes, riding in eco mode gets you more range per charge.
Of course you get more range at lower speeds. Exact same thing as any gas-engine powered vehicle.
As someone who loves traditional motorbikes such as Triumph, BMW etc. I have always been anti electric bikes but due to fuel prices here in the UK, the average commute around 25 miles and the new concept styling these are looking more attractive. The Super Soco with a top speed of 62mph and a price of £3,999 I would think about buying one....I 'd still keep the Triumph though!

Im surprised so few of them have regenerative brakes. I would have thought that to be a core design feature.
Im wondering how one can adapt the US (international?) electric vehicle charging plug now becoming more available in public parking lots.
Hello, we'd say that most of them have this feature. As for the charging plugs, there must be some solutions, something like plug adapters.
This video is goated i sub an can't stop telling ppl to sub
The SOCO bikes have 3 settings.
1= max speed of 12kmph = 100km distance.
2 = max speed of 40kmph = 70km distance.
3 = max speed of 70kmph = 40km distance.
So when they say the bike can do 70kmph, and travel 100km, they are full of crap.
I found this out, after buying the bike.
They also have some of the slowest acceleration ever. It takes 20 seconds to get from 40 to 70kmph.
Sorry the prices are not justified
Could you put a kickstarter on these bikes... Just for kicks?
Considering range of these bikes and power (max speed) I think electro scooters are more practical. Smaller tires (for town because of range), more convenient for legs, more storage space. Large diameter of wheels is needed for fun bikes and longer range more expensive bikes.
These Scrambler-inspired electro bikes are just enthusiast-made models in one copy.
Hello, we have covered lots of electric scooters previously. What electric scooter model would you personally choose?
i like the look of the Super soco, it looks like a motorbike, while a lot of the bikes here looks like a pushbike. We used to have mopeds in the Uk years ago under 50cc with peddles, that was the law at the time, but no now. if I was going for an electric motorbike, I would go for something like the super soco.
I know some people here are saying about the prices, but take a look at petrol motorbikes and see the prices of those. While i know motorbikes don't use a ton of fuel, you will still save money by not having to pay for fuel. Not sure about road tax in the Uk, smaller motorbikes are pretty cheap to tax anyway, I don't know if our government would give e-motorbikes exempt tax.
whats the website to purchase these bikes ? I got to know
Hello, thanks for your feedback. We believe that we posted this information in the comments... Any luck finding it?
Where do you draw the line between bike and bicycle?
Hello, thanks for the comment. A bicycle has pedals, is smaller in size and usually has about 1000W of power. Motorbikes are more powerful. There are some exceptions, like the Monday Motorbikes and Onyx Motorbikes that are trying to classify themselves as a fusion between a bicycle, a scooter and a moped.
@datacube Thanks for a great list, enjoyed seeing every bike in action. Could you please be so kind and publish a list of all of them (with stats included) and where they may be purchased. Thanks!
Hello, thanks for the feedback. We have added a list of bikes with the links in a separate comment, it is floating around somewhere. The request to add the specs is awesome, we think it will be useful too. We will need some time to put it together though...
Does anybody know where can you buy the Super Soco ?
9922179932
Isn't that an inverter on the underside of the 'Monday motorback', yet is said it's 'brushless' dc motor?
Unfortunately we couldn't locate the part that you are talking about. This page mondaymotorbikes.com/the-motorbike/ offers a schematic view of all of the bikes components. Maybe it will help.
A brushless motor requires a control unit (inverter) to run. That's what makes it brushless--the electronic controller, or inverter, does the work of the brushes and commutator in a brushed motor.
So, you're not going to see any brushless motor in a vehicle without the inverter :)
Most of these make no sense. The light ones, are useless: it's easier to get an E-Bike with Bosch/Shimano/Yamaha system: cheaper, lighter, no insurance, can still be easily modified to go faster. The real motorbikes are still too expensive, and the range is ridiculous.
Hello, thanks for your comment. When saying that real motorbikes are still too expensive, how much do you expect them to cost? And when staying that the range is ridiculous, how long do you expect them to travel? By the way, we have also made a video about long range electric motorcycles (200 miles), have you watched that?
@@Datacube Oh cmon. A decent petrol motorbike costs about 6 to 8k €/$ , can be refueled in 2 mins and will do 250 to 350 km on a full tank. You really want to make an argument on this? The problem with electric right now is the range. Why? Because it takes forever to refuel. If it was possible to refuel an electric bike in 5 mins, at any gas station, the range would not be a problem. Most people use motorbikes for entertainment, long trips on the weekend, electric is still not an option for that. For short range commute eBikes clearly come out as a winner.
It's a valid argument because if you watched a video that we referred you to then you'd know that there is a battery swap technology, which can be faster to use. Pop a new battery in, instead of waiting for the fuel to pour. Also, gasoline is more expensive, we know people, who'd trade the wait time for the savings...
Where i can by @ estegen rush 2???
I'm digging these new bikes... 😎
They are pretty nice. We have also just posted a new video about electric motorcycles. Have you seen it yet?
my 5 and 7 year old children would love these toys......
Hello, thank you for your comment. These are not toys and letting your kids on such vehicles is not the most responsible thing to do.
Are you really that dumb? I bet your the only person who would let their toddler driver something at 40+ mph . Where do you live, what is your name? I need to contact child protective services and send a common sense teacher to your house
My favorite was the last one cuz of the looks but mostly the price
Hello, do you see yourself riding a bike like this any time soon?
The roksie bike is quite a looker, the prices of these bikes are not cheap as I aswell as many people could not afford these costs and that's a shame because electric bikes are the way to go so they should make them more accessible to everyone.
None of these are affordable lol. You need to remake this video for 2019 and keep it UNDER $2000
What Is My Name my point exactly..
Hello, thanks for your feedback. We will work on the updated version of this video soon.
if the 1st one was priced at 700-800 bucks (US dollars) , i might be interested..as it stands- it is cheaper to simply have a machine shop build the frame and then buy all the parts for a home assembly....these smug college kids refuse to accept that their products are WAY overpriced
Hello, thank you for your feedback. We understand that these products are quite expensive and there are gas bikes that could be bought for less. Is there a new gas bike that costs 800 dollars?
As one of the viewers highlighted, the battery pack costs about $1.000 by itself (in some bikes.) So even the most altruistic bike shops won't be able to produce and sell something that is below the actual cost of the parts.
that is simply amazing....my 48 volt 24 ah battery cost me 171 dollars-delivered. is this for european markets ? if so, that would explain the outrageous costs...all those taxes for social medicine and refugees
and yes, there are indeed 80cc scooters for sale in the USA for $999 plus tax and tag
do you feel better US tax dollars go to war?
You should have included more information about your battery type and quality. After doing a quick search in electric bicycle parts store anyone could find out that the Panasonic 48v 24ah pack costs $799. Similar packs in China cost about $600. We highly doubt that your battery pack could cost $171, while most of competing product worth 4 or 5 times as much.
My 1979 Casal gets me 300+ miles a tank. Would sacrifice that for more torque tho haha
I really like the videos you put out. Maybe putting out a video showing people how ins., registration, license and plates add up and then add that to the prices of gas bike to see the real difference in price between gas and electric plus when you go to do repairs, oil change, oil, etc. it is a lot more on gas bike. Then all of a sudden all those people with no common sense would see that in the long run ebike is not really much more. I live in Ohio, USA and just so you have peddles it is considered bike., No extra costs for license, etc. I ride my ebike daily and have never once been stopped by police for riding 40 mph, actually I have had them come up and ask questions about it and say they would feel foolish for pulling over a bike and asking for info like that. BECAUSE IT IS A BIKE! I feel bad for all of you who are afraid to leave gas vehicles because most manufacturers will stop making gas vehicles in the next 5-10 years. I know people like giving the oil companies in other countries billions in profit every year and pay the government to do paperwork that is not necessary. Another factor I like about ebike is the fact I can go anywhere like sidewalks, parks, trails, and other places you just can't take a motorcycle or car. Just that makes any difference in price worth it for me. I don't like waiting at red lights so I just go on the sidewalk to get around them. Lol. Keep up the good work your videos are ahead of their time and most people aren't forward thinkers like you, so they show their stupidity by putting down your voice or arguing over points that are out of context because they don't look at the whole picture.
Awesome video thank you
Hello, thanks for your comment! Appreciate your kind words.
I liked the Onyx RCR motorbike so much that I bought it. The price of $2,500.00 is a little misleading because I actually spent $2,450.00 plus ($350.00 for shipping in the U.S.) a total of $2,800.00 and as of today that number has since gone up on Indiegogo.com to about $3,000.00 with shipping included here in the U.S.
Hello, thank you for the feedback. It's amazing to hear that they finally started shipping them. Can you share your thoughts and experiences with the Onyx RCR bike? We bet there are many viewers, who'd enjoy reading the feedback from the owner.
Datacube: awesome facts and interesting top lists I sure will do a review but after September when they start shipping them.
That'd be cool. It'd be awesome if you could make a walk-around video too.
Super Soco and White Ghost look handsome, I would buy them.
Did anybody notice @5:19 the tires on the bike aren't spinning it looks like its getting pulled on a dolly?
Hello, thanks for the heads up. Let us check.
If it was a bike that got 200 miles per charge at 65 miles per hour and a top speed of 120 miles per hour. More people would like it.
It's mind boggling how many e-bike, e-motorcycle startups there are out there.
Hello, thanks for your feedback. Would you rather have traditional manufacturers work on these?
Thanks henry been doun and out because of my addiction going back to the proagame because of you thanks mate
The key to success will be integration of partial Anti-gravity is included.
The problem with eBikes is that they are still too expensive.
Thx, will be looking to buy one of these and hope to post a pic of the most affordable one I can buy. I think I'm only going $2k high though, and we shall see. lol
price.?
Hello, thanks for your feedback. For which model?
Go ride a modern super fast mopes from Yamaha Y15R ,Honda RS150R or Suzi 150 underbone twin cam.
The Suzi will go 160 kmph with no mods,or a twin cam Honda mopes that goes 150kmph with no mods. A cheaper go anywhere small bike with huge economy to boot. A USD 500 mods will make it speed up to 200 kmph with no major issue !
Better shape. Stingky fast and much more faster fueling.
Ride small, fast and save money !!!
Thank yo or your comment. It's nice of you to share some fuel-efficient scooter. But if you still think that gas is better than electric, then we think you haven't discovered all of the benefits of electric transport.
The range on the majority of these would only be good for me if I was going to the nearest McDonalds.
I just don't feel comfortable riding anything with less than 80 miles range, even if you could technically just plug it into a regular outlet.
Hello, thanks for your comment. The nearest place to eat 40 miles away? Ouch! Jokes aside, 80 miles of range is plenty for city commuting, especially if charging spots were more common. So as you mentioned, just plug it in the nearest outlet whenever your bike is not in use.
@@Datacube Yeah, it was really exaggerated as I technically have a McDonalds down the street (2 minute drive).
I'm more reluctant because I've always been trying to make sure I can go the extra miles if I have to and also avoid being stuck somewhere.
I begin getting anxiety when my tank reaches the quarter full mark and with the range of most of these bikes, I feel as though I would be riding with a maximum of a half tank compared to my car.
Why has the white ghost a gearbox and a dual clutch? Would’ve thought u don’t need that with an electric motor.
Hello, thanks for your comment, it's one of the most interesting ones so far. Most electric vehicles don't need that. In this case it seems that the company that produces these bikes is experimenting to make their products better.
Datacube: awesome facts and interesting top lists: thanks, very interesting!
My husband and I are seeking 2 powerful E Mountain bikes and 2 E dirt motorbikes to complement our overland adventures
Do you need a license for mopeds/ebikes?
Yes.
Any electric bike that goes faster than about 32 km/h (20 MPH) requires a license & insurance.
No. If it has peddles no insurance or license. That is the reason I own one. I'm tired of paying for unlawful license and insurance
At 10:50 The rush 2 moped at 2000 US$ has no battery which costs an additional $1000. And then shipping might be another $400 or more.
Hello, thanks for the feedback. That's correct, the company that produces these bikes decided to sell the bike with a battery pack as an option.
That's USA prices the price for Europe is double with taxes on imports etc. It's makes it not worth didly for us.
Those should be promoted in movies and soap operas.
Hello, why is that?
Datacube: awesome facts and interesting top lists Eh.... to show people those exist and can be used. If you show people normal situations were an e-bike is portrayed without mention it or doing it softly, it will became common to them (to us really...☺️)
Another solution is to show these at gasstations, so people could compare the running costs ;)
Datacube: awesome facts and interesting top lists 🙄 whatever!
I say some of these companies should team up with Tony Stark of Stark Industries and see if the 'arc reactor' can power these bikes to run for a very long time. :)
Hello, thanks for the comment! For a long time? Only if you are trying to travel around the world on an electric motorbike! ;)
I'm waiting for Honda Gyro bike that follows me like an obedient dog !( Prototype now) I like that concept. Others is crap !
Have you seen a similar Honda bike concept?
The price points for these when compared to MPH speed and range are not in line with consumer demands. I can live with a hit in on category, but not a hit in all three.
Hello, thanks for your comment. You are correct here, you can't have all of the three demands in one product right now. Still, even the more affordable options are already nice enough to replace our regular city commuters. We just wish there were more places to charge them.
That motorcycle is truly interesting
This video must have been expensive to produce, having that Shatner voice over must have been expensive.
Get them to a 300 mile range before having to charge & do a fast 2 hr. charge, then I might be interested.
Hello, thank you for your comment. What would you need so much range for? Not even all ICE motorcycles could go this far on a full tank.
There's literally no "average" electric motorcycle. They're only these city cruisers that can't get over 50-60 mph, or the Zero motorcycles that over-perform. I just want something in the $6-8k range that has ~100 miles of range, and can get up to 80 mph for my commute and 99% of my riding.
Hello, thank you for your comment. There is only one bike that marginally fits your description, it's the Evoke motorcycle.
Wow, Thanks for replying! You should feature this brand on your next video! This looks more like what 90% of people would want, instead of motorcycles that only appeal to 10% of people.

. Although it is not burning fuel there is no safe way to recycle lithium batteries if I'm not mistaking
2000watt but 60nm of torque!
You forgot to include the 'affordable' bikes in your video.
"Thirty miles on a charge...it's creators believe that such a range is sufficient..." sure, as long as you're not going anywhere for the next 6-7 hrs while the battery recharges. FAQ.
When can I buy one of this bikes in Germany?
Hello, thanks for your interest. There is a separate comment posted from our account, where you can see official site links. You'll be able to find information about local dealers there.
Christoph N. I think you will never See These Bikes on German Road cause the german laws.
I'm still having difficulty understanding why manufacturers are paying so much for 18650 cells. There are pouch cells in the consumer market for $200kw-hr... so manufacturers should be able to source them for no more than $150kw-hr. Most of the these bike manufacturers are cost factoring at 3 times that amount.
Hello, thanks for the comment. When stating these prices, what battery producer are you talking about? Panasonic? Samsung?
Cylindrical cells such as 18650, 20700, 21700 etc. are generally more durable and longer-lasting than the pouch cells. They don't swell up internally like pouch cells do because they have a steel casing, so they maintain their capacity longer.
For any kind of electric vehicle, metal-cased cylindrical cells are used for this reason.
Hmm, I'll stick to my home built electric bicycle (cost $400)
Hello, thank you for your comment. How powerful is your setup?
How are these classified in the U.S.?
Hello, it's a great question, however there is no way to answer it because there are so many different state laws and different motorcycles...
They are motorcycles. You need a motorcycle driver's license and insurance. You also need to register it (get a license plate).
@@devilsoffspring5519 where do you live? Why do you push insurance, license, registration? Do you work for the government or what? I hope you see this since it's been a year. I live in Ohio, USA and my bike hits an easy 40 mph but has peddles and is considered EBIKE. I couldn't get license and registration if I wanted to, and why would I want to spend the extra money anyway. The money you don't put it for ins., License, registration is never considered when looking at the prices. If you look at those costs involved with a motorcycle and then subtract them from the prices of an ebike suddenly the ebike is a much better deal. Duh! Why is no one smart enough to use all the parts of an equation to come up with real numbers? As far as going 250 miles on an e bike that is like 4-5 hours of riding. where are you going everyday that you need that much range? Where I live I can get to every corner of my city within 45 minutes. So why would it be so important to get that much range? I think people are just trying to find reason to put down electric vehicles because they like giving money to the filthy rich people producing oil and gas and paying the government for paperwork that is for nothing except taking your money.
@@concentrate8547 If it can exceed about 20 MPH, it's a motorcycle. Something isn't legally an "ebike" simply because it has an electric motor, it revolves around how fast it can go on level ground. Generally, if the top speed is 20 MPH (~32 km/h) or less, it's an ebike, if it's more than that it's a moped or motorcycle and requires the right license, registration, and insurance. It doesn't matter that it's not an internal combustion engine.
No, I don't work for the government :)
@@devilsoffspring5519 Well then maybe it's just that different areas have different areas or maybe police just don't or won't enforce these laws you say are made. Maybe it's so new and the fact only like 7 people or so ride ebikes and there is no law yet. You know laws change all the time. Do you know all the laws for every state and city? Impressive! I don't know about other cities but we have many old laws on the books that no one has ever in my fifty years been charged with. The fact is as I was passing cars and got stopped at a red light with cross traffic the police who rolled up on me couldn't care less when I told them I have max speed around 40 mph and was using every bit of it to pass cars. So instead of grouping everywhere into one and trying to scare these people to get what you think they should have, maybe you could just warm them they might need that stuff. If I have time I will look up our laws and see what they say and let you know, or if I can catch another cop I will ask him. Point is not everywhere cares or has laws to enforce, so don't spread rumors. I never said anything about just because it was electric and not gas. I said if it has peddles it is considered a bike not motorcycle. There are too many variables to say a blanket statement that all need all this useless paperwork if there bike goes over 20. Are we all going to get the little license plates we had tied to or seat as kids? Where do you put your license plate? Does that also mean that when I'm peddling my bike at my max 30 mph I need license? How is that fair I can peddle my bike 30 but my neighbor using electric going 20 needs to spend hundreds on ins., License, plates, etc. I really think it's going to be impossible to enforce except for big cities that have thousands of police. I'm pretty sure we have only 400-500 where I'm at and they don't care. I know new york tried to ban throttle ebikes and look how that turned out, they got rid of that law. My theory is that if those laws were in effect I would ride until I was forced to get them and not be a sheep and go spend that money without anyone enforcing that law, because like New York the law might change. Everyone should just be happy that we are riding ev and not polluting the air and using up oil faster. That is one major problem in our system. The oil companies have plenty of money to throw around and the government makes laws to keep these companies in business, It happens all the time with everything.
I am sure the people over at Honda are not happy about Shanghai Customs ripping them off.
You screwed the pooch. No Sur Ron. It’s the most popular bike under 5k.
Thumbnail a really cool motorbile and saying that it's price is 2k$ not a click bait ta all 😒😒😒
Hello, thanks for your comment. We have received claims like this before but our conscience is clear. We listed the price of the most affordable bike on the video.
YEAH, The Rush Two 2000$ without a battery (at least 1000$) LOL !
Hello, thank you for your comment. Why do you find this funny? The maker is offering you a variety of options...
I'd like to see someone go steampunk with it like literally like working Steam
too expensive and I think too slow, thanks for the video though
Hello, thank you for your feedback. Waiting for new models and hoping for the best.
Super Soco TC I must have it ,
Hello, it looks like a decent bike, doesn't it?
The design is nice but it’s top speed is far from impressive
Did I miss the part where these were ranked?
Biggest draw back with these is the limited carry weight, not everybody is built like a stick insect and somebody who is tall tends to look a little ludicrous on them.
Hello, thanks for sharing your thoughts. We have just released a new video about more powerful bikes that can carry more weight and have great range, up to 200 miles. You should take a look at that video.
They would probably cost more than I could afford, at the moment most people just see then as toys for those with a lot of disposable income if a major manufacturer could produce one relatively inexpensively they could probably break open the market.
Fast and long range models are more expensive for sure. Still, some may think of such bikes as an investment. You do pay more upfront, however you get good savings on oil and gasoline. If we look at Zero S motorcycle, the most affordable version costs 10,995 - you get a 5 years' warranty on the battery pack and the typical cost to recharge is $0.81 (combined range of 60 miles.)
Honestly, all I care about anymore is the tires. Bike tires just can't hold up to the weight of an electric bike. It's a huge problem.
I understand that this is relatively new technology, but the range of the bikes is very low if you commute more than say 30 to 40 miles.
One other thing, there's absolutely no where to carry a basic bag on these " commuter bikes ".
I need to carry my laptop and suit for work. Where do I put them on the bike? , currently they go on my top box and rear seat.
Hello, thank you for your comment. These are some of the most affordable options on the market, so their range is limited to city riding only. Models with more range cost more money of course. As for the places to put your stuff, don't you think that those should be optional? There are special cargo bikes out there, if this is something you are looking for.
I think that city bikes should have somewhere to carry at least a rucksack so that you don't have to wear it on your back !!
Not carrying cargo, just my personal belongings to change into when I get to work/go out.
The Top box is very good for that
Don't you think that features that you are describing should be optional?
@@Datacube
Not really. I think they should be standard. After all, that's primarily what people are buying the bike for due to the limited range. I doubt if at the moment, people will take bikes like this out on a long journey unless they can charge them and get back home!!.
Even then it would be nice to be able to carry some spare clothes/water/ bike locks without having to wear an uncomfy rucksack.
Super Soco design is the best if you like vintage
Thanks for sharing!
Ariel vehicles cover average that but are not mass produced. They are trying intercity now. I believe they are at two hundred miles, just over.
We actually have a video about electric aerial vehicles for city travel, have you encountered it yet?
Can you also make a video for affordable e-motorbikes, because mopeds aren't motorbikes. Clicking on a video claiming to have motorbikes always makes me hope I actually see motorbikes. How weird am I, right.
Hello, thanks posting for your thoughts. We are working on new videos and will try to make something that will fit your request.
This video is way too long for what's being said, and I honestly don't like the way this guy reads a script. I'm not sure if he didn't practice beforehand or if he only recorded his voice once. There are also way too many pics, but not enough stats about each one.
Hello, thanks for your comment. The suggestions were decent. Though you should understand that we tried to combine all of the elements in one video, narration, specifications and just static images. Many people actually like looking at those more than at the video footage.
Height of rider? Weight of rider? Seat height? Range for an adult? Number of recharges before battery failure? Recharge time? Rainy day usage? 5 foot height w/100 pound female riders isn't remotely market worthy.
9:20 for example, that's $3500 for a short range bicycle and you can't even pedal when the battery dies. Only someone crazy would consider that
The bikes are cool; however, with these types of prices it's going to be hard for e-moto's to make any type of dent in the moto world. You can go get a used motorcycle for less than $2000 and if you're really lucky you can get a good used one for $1500 and never have to worry about charging, range and etc. I bought my used 650r for about $1200.
You can't get on the freeway with half of these bikes, and most are probably not even legal to drive on the road. Who the heck is paying $2000 for a e-bike??
New e-moto sales have been declining for the last 10+. The younger generation isn't buying moto's because of the prices, learning curve when it comes to shifting, and moto's are looked at in some circles as some people having disposable income.
People say that e- moto's are cheap to make. Are they really? Because if that's the case, why aren't there more automakers making e- moto's with 200+ mile range, stylish, 100mph+, and is priced similar to that of their gas powered rivals? Oh that's right Zero is making those and the base models start off at $10K.
EVENTUALLY people will start to purchase the e-moto's in larger numbers, but for the reasons I mentioned above, I don't believe it will happen anytime within the next 2-3 years.
Hello, thank you for your comment. Electric riding is a whole different experience. Have you read a comment, where we convinced a viewer to test drive a Zero Motorcycle? His feedback is just amazing.
Check out ather s450 ..retails for about 1800$
Hello, thanks for the suggestion. We already know about this scooter and will be talking about it in our future videos. ;)
Very affordable. Probably fun too
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. They could be even more affordable, though we are still amazed to see them have pricing like this.
Datacube: awesome facts and interesting top lists I would not hold your breath for them to become more affordable especially if the trade wars really heat up. Too bad to because the tech is really starting to accelerate in this sector particularly
We'd also like to see ways that could be used to upgrade the tech of these bikes. The tech develops very quickly, as you mentioned, and many bikes could become outdated very soon. We wish someone employed the modular design approach.
Datacube: awesome facts and interesting top lists I imagine more businesses will come into existence with regards to updating or refurbishing battery packs. The rest is doubtful. A universal or modular design would help consumers globally. If only humanity could coalesce better we wouldn’t get hamstrung as much. The bright spot is 3D printable things for parts and or complete machines 👍
Plastic 3D printing has gone mainstream already. There are industrial scale printers that use metal already. If those become more popular down the road, any customization process would become much easier.
$3500 is fu**ing insane i can create two electric hyper sport bikes in that money
Hello, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Tell us the name of your channel, we'd like to see how you manage to do that. $1,750 electric sport bike sounds like a dream come true. If you could produce bikes at this price and have a mark up of at least $1,000, you'd become a millionaire very soon.
Datacube: awesome facts and interesting top lists . Brother i am an indian and here in india we get electronics and electrical parts at throw away prices a 2 kilowatt motor with controller here in india costs not more than 13 to 15 thousand indian rupees and a good quality chassis of an old bike it will be for 2000 to 3000 depending on the model of the bike you want i mean cruise or sport or moped etc . And then tyres Brakes speedometer headlight tail light indicators are for 10000 INR ok. Lets assume it for 30000INR in total and next comes the expensive part batteries depending upon the range you want if you want 300 kilometers of range from a 2kilowatt motor you have to buy batteries of 40000 INR . And then comes design and other body parts etc should be 20000 . And a single man with proper machining can build it within a week not much labor cost right . It will be a total of 90000 INR . If you produce on industrial scale the it will be half of the cost as we could produce each and everything from scratch raw material . And for your kind information INR 90000 would be somewhere around $1200 to $1300 i guess and the remaining $900 from $3500 consider it as my labor charge
Thanks for replying so quickly. We have an unlimited amount of respect for those, who know how to use tools and put things together. We applaud you for having the skill to put together an electric bike. There are somethings you may be misunderstanding. The bike that you are describing may sound like a good thing for personal use, however do you think that someone would spend their money on a product that is put together from scrap parts? The companies that we've talked about in the video are trying to invent something new and create new technology, not re-purpose old technology.
Also, do you think that a 2kW motor will be powerful enough for a hyper sport bike?
Message me on hangouts, we can talk to about some business opportunities haha..
There's more to this potential conversation than just motorcycles. I'm seriously looking for someone business oriented, With a damp of entrepreneurship, To start something with me.
Datacube: awesome facts and interesting top lists no one wants to use a hyperbike for daily commute brother
Just convert your mountain bike might need to make the wheel Base longer to prevent wheelies
Hello, thank you for your comment. It's a good idea and there are several good kits. We recently made a video about electric bicycles and featured a 1500W bike kit. You should check out that video too.
I've looked at buying that one direct from China.. I suggested a 1.5kw motor on each wheel with the second battery in a rucksack on your back... I'm game to try it if I had the wonga
Sounds great. Do you think that it will be road legal with 3kw of power? Or will you be using it for offroading only?
cycle till i get pulled over i guess? i dont have the funds atm but its on my list! ;)
That's risky. We still wonder how they will know that your bike is too powerful for the streets?
Cool ...BUT.... a scooter makes more sense...no range anxiety
I'll wait until battery durability and price improve. As they stand, they lose efficiency too quickly and cost at least half of what the bikes cost to replace. I don't want a smartphone like trend for these, where you buy a new one every 5 years.
Have no idea why anyone would buy any new motorcycle. Used motorcycles are very inexpensive and work just fine with a little TLC. If you must have an electric motorcycle, they should be almost free used. Electric cars don't hold value at all, motorcycles would likely be the same.
Hello, thanks for sharing your thoughts. We wish something was given out for free in this world, especially electric motorcycles. They may lose some of the value due to battery degradation, it's the only weak spot though. If we take batteries out of the equation, electric motors are supposed to be far more reliable and the bikes that use them cost pennies to run, that's why we don't believe that anyone would sell his electric motorcycle almost for free.
It's not like someone would sell it for free, the market dictates the value. For example, nowadays, the low end second hand electric bikes are worth close to nothing because it costs more to rebuild the battery. Most of the value is in the battery anyway, and when your battery costs 1000-1500$/€ to rebuild (1-2kwh+ sizes), the value of the vehicle will be close to zero .
I am waiting for solid state batteries.
Is the narrator dying mid-recording?
Hello, that's an unusual question, why are you asking?
America has to go on super DIET FIRST. THAT IS NO DAMN SECRET EITHER! Lol
they make all these electric cars and bikes so expensive that anyone who knows how to count money will only buy gasoline!
clickbait the bike on the picture doesnt cost 2000
As it stands no electric bike is really affordable for the limitations they offer. They are only really good for short commuter distances. Plug them in while at work and you're fine but as a real world bike that could be taken across the country ? no not yet. If enough people buy these limited ability bikes then more money will be spent on RandR to develop world class machines. I for one am waiting and will just in when they get there.
Hello, thanks for sharing your opinion. We see that many viewers request a long range travel feature for electric motorcycles. As far as we know not all gasoline bikes are suitable or good for long distance travel. If you really need a bike with a massive battery pack, take a look at my other videos. There I speak about several long range motorcycles that can go up to 250 miles on a charge.
Call me once they make faster bikes with ranges exceeding 150 miles.
VanderWall Stronghold they are being produced as we speak. Check out the Lightning “Strike” and the Zero SR/F
Me gustó el SOCO 🙆🙆🙌🙌
Thank you for your comment!
