Auxiliary Switches Install/Program w/ AlfaOBD Ram 1500

- I installed an aux switch panel in my 2015 Ram 1500 and created a programming feature in the radio using AlfaOBD.
The Aux switches will allow me to control up to five accessories. Programming includes: battery or ignition power, latching or momentary, and recall the last state of the switch.
The switch panel I found at a junkyard. I picked up the relays and harness from 4thgenramelect..., but they are NO LONGER IN BUSINESS.
You can make one. Call the junk yards to get the aux switch panel. You'll need some wire. Amazon sells the exact same relay box with the relays. Search Amazon for, "relay box with fuses". The hard part will be finding harness connectors to make the pass-through harness on the back of the aux panel. If you find a panel at a junkyard, see if they can just cut the wires on the back and leave the harness connectors. Use AlfaOBD to program the truck once you have it installed.
AlfaOBD is an app in the google play store that allows you to turn on/off factory settings in your Dodge, Chrysler, RAM, or Fiat vehicle.
Just finished this install… took my sweet time. Took about an hour. Very easy

Not all Rams are programmable for this. If you don't see the option under Body Computer/Car Configuration your truck isn't programmable for this. My 2013 Ram 3500 doesn't have this option.

I just put the switch panel. I found some pins that fit in the connector. Lets see if it work.
The switch work. But I dont see the aux switches in the radio. It may because I have the smaller screen radio.
Can you tell me where you got the panel I called my local dealer and they have never heard of it

Awesome walk thru. Question, is my truck just unable to do stuff like that because I have version 2.1.7.9 of alfaobd and it doesn't give me options to do that or to set menus for my trailer brakes too.
It depends on the year of the truck as to what you can do. Sometimes it depends on the type of radio and firmware on the radio.

This is something i want to do, but i am having a hard time finding the switch panel, with my current options, as well as the Aux buttons!
All these parts are hard to find. You just have to keep looking.
After a couples of months I found mine for 65$ keep looking

Thanks for share. Let me ask. The panel come with 5 switches. You activated 1 to 4 what about the 5th?
You can program all 5 switches in the alfaobd app, but the radio only displays the settings for 4.

Very detailed with the video. I do have a question about mine that I did. I ran through the setup and got the aux to show up in the Uconnect. When I try to change anything in the aux settings, the change won't hold. it only lasts for about 2 or so seconds.
I have a 2018 ram 1500, with the security bypass cable. have you experienced this?, or anyone here know how to get the change to save in the system?
Mine is doing the same thing. I also have a 18. I think that one setting just gets it to show up in the 8.4 but don’t do anything as far as turning anything on. I’m gonna try and turn everything on individually and see if that makes a difference.

That is where I got it, but you're right. I just clicked on the link and it's broken. They must have gone out of business with the shortages. You can still get everything to do this. You'll just have to put it together.

Here's where you can find the aux switch buttons. You'll have to around to make sure they have what you're looking for. If they are out of driving distance, it's small enough to mail, but some junkyards don't have time or want to bother with mailing something so small.

You just need some wire and the harness clips.if the junk yard is cutting the switches out of a vehicle, tell them just to cut the wires so you can have the harness plug. Or you could call dealerships to order the harness plug. Or you might find it online. Good luck

I thing I will add, check the harness connected to your tailgate. If it's only 2 wires, you need the whole kit. If there are more than 2 wires, you may only need the tailgate handle/camera and the short harness in the tailgate. A lot of these trucks have the same wire harnesses even though they don't have all the accessories. Sometimes you get lucky. Also be careful removing the red bracket on the big harness on the back of the radio. Super fragile. I broke mine, but super glued it back together.

I had my switches and it was showing up on my 3 inch evic I am on 7 inch today and can't find the switch settings. Any ideas? I am on a ra2 radio still .
Should be under settings. Did you set your computer to the 7 inch when you put it in? I think there was a setting in AlfaOBD for the radio style.

@@WorkingOnStuff I may have a clue I found someone on another UA-cam video mentioning the same issue I had and they had an ra2 radio with 7-in evic so maybe that's it. Guess I'll have to wait and see once I get the radio well that'll be a while. At least I set my switches the way I wanted it before I lost the option. I'll keep digging though

How is it so far, any problems, or radio interference with the accessories with the switches on? Looking to do this with my 2012.

40 amp relays. Just put whatever size fuse you need for the accessory you are connecting.

Also did you just ground your accessories to the negative terminal of the battery or to the chassis. Once again thanks for the info.

@@WorkingOnStuff I am trying to find the metal pins that go in to the connector. The T harness is not necessary. I will let you know when I found the right pins.
