This is how I enabled my oem Mopar radio to play video, using the ZAutomotive Tazer and A/V wiring kit.

Something I'd thought about doing would be to modify the Z automotive AV kit cables to be longer. Those things look painfully short and lengthening them would allow you to move the AV connectors to an easier spot to get to. Also it would allow you to connect say an external DVD player made for automotive.

What about using a USB-c to hdmi adapter instead of the chromecast? That way you dont need internet.
I planned on trying something similar, I do like the chromecast because its completely stand alone, and your still able to use phone features while it does its thing, but the internet makes it crappy
either way will work for a ram 2019 bighorn 1500 8.4

bought a 2019 ram 1500 and was just completely disappointed in the limited ability of this "smart Uconnect" system. I had an after market android head unit in my old truck that did everything Uconnect does but better. I hate how they make things difficult to do basic shit and having to ask a dealer and pay a dealer to allow functions you essentially paid for already.

Do not cut open the USB a cable and hardwire it. The USB uses 5 volts not 12 volts. That dual USB adaptor that he uses converts the voltage from 12 to 5 volts.

So how is the Tazer working now that the last UCONNET update requires you to use your OBD 2 to maintain your Uconnect features such as start, stop, lock. U lock, and theft tracking??
I havent updated mine but all is still working great, the tazer is update able as well so im sure they will update it alk on that end as well

If the 2022 is the classic then it should work with the same kit, and Z-automotive has changed their site, you may try contacting them for your specific year and trip, to get the proper kit for your truck.

Seriously tho, what brand/size is your bed box? I’ve been looking for awhile now and finding one of decent quality and material is harder than I expected.
Also, they make a tool for removing pins from their ports.
Also (too), save yourself some time and check for functionality with everything still apart. Don’t have to remove/install but one time instead of every time you add and test.

I got Chromecast too for this setup but it seems like you can't connect to Chromecast unless there's a wifi connection? Did you find a way?
I was using the hotspot off of my phone to do it before and it worked alright but still wasn't the best while traveling, I have a new method I may show in an upcoming video but I'm not sure how it's going to fair as far as price. I'm working on the details now.

I see you have a Samsung watch. If your phone is a newer Samsung phone, you should be able to get a USB-C to HDMI cable. Might be able to connect the phone directly to the HDMI adapter box. Cut out the wireless casting.
I actually have done exactly that, I will say it was nicer having the chrome cast as its own stand alone unit, but there are perks to the C to usb as well

I've got a question for ya, is Tazer absolutely necessary or have you explored alpha obd at all? I know for a fact that you can do the disc player factory unlock with alpha. Ive done it on accident, but I never explored the video abilities with the disc enabled.

I have been trying to mod my 2010 dodge journey rt to play video on my dash screen as well as on my back ceiling screen. I have replaced my factory radio with a Android after market radio. You can use a Lockpick for Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep. It is a plug and play. With it you can also install everything else you can name to it.
Lockpick is plug and play and has all of that, I have it in my 2014 jeep cherokee

Saddly not that I've found, i mean we are taking a unit that wasn't supposed to play video from factory and making it do that, but if someone knows a way to get HD I'd be happy to hear the method.

How did you open the exhaust cutout with the connect home button?? I've got a scat pack that I'd like to do this mod to!
Its as simple as it looks, you need to have the cutout with the wirless fob, you program the fob to the opener buttons just as you would for your garage door opener, you will use one button for open and a separate button to close. Look up my video on the cutout installation, i show the basic instructions at the end of that video!!!

It is possible although I have not looked into the details. I do know it has been done though.

Your going to laugh a little but its just an Amazon Hemi badge stuck on top of the lone star part that came on mine. It cam out looking legit though. A lot of people have thought it is extremely custom when really all I did was stick it on.

I payed for the u connect hot spot/wifi so the truck has its own internet, but there are other ways out there

I would definitely start with Google, UA-cam, or forums, You may try contacting z automotive as well, they may have information or a solution, but as far as me I have 0 experience with the 12" screens, I'd like to pick through one to see if it's possible for myself but that may be a ways out for me

I think you may have to pioneer your own way to get it to work together, but I dont see why not, id definitely do some homework before jumping into it though!! Start by getting in contact with Z Automotive to see if they have released the updated tazer for the 2020
Interesting video I did a lot of similar changes with Alfaobd. Good to know there are other options.
Alot of people seem to go with one or the other I may give the alfaobd a try just as a comparison I know it has a couple of features that the tazer doesn't, thanks for the info!
Do you have to keep the tazer plugged in while engine off, and does it draw power while engine off?
Tazer stays plugged in at all times and it senses the ignition and uses that to shut itself down.
Just get an old Android junk/spare phone to cast a wifi hotspot.
(Ya dont need no data service)
I rigged up my Google Nest Mini in my car.
Since it's powered by a 12v source, just splice the charging wires and tap it in. 😁✌️
Yeah since this video i'v herd of a few easier and more user friendly methods, I plan to do an update video with the easiest the options soon.

I'm not as proficient with cars and trucks as you are evidently. I saw you do your cam swap. I try to do as much as I can but I'm limited. Anyway I like that you can bleed the ABS module with Alfaobd. Anyway I'm trying to decide and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hey bud! I think both are good products, saddly i havent had the chance to test alfa but have herd good stuff. I think alfa is a great product although i havent tried them, i would say go alfa. The tazer is great but the alfa has a couple of mor features as you had mentioned.

Lockpick air does the same thing but all from one box instead of two and comes with a usb and an HDMI PORT. you can also have side cameras that activate when you turn on your blinker.

@@Rep361Texas I believe so. I know mirroring works and you can also use a Roku in conjunction with it so you pretty much have a Roku on your connect screen. You can also run headrest monitors through it as well. It comes with and HDMI port that I’ve seen people run through the glove box by drilling a hole and mounting it in there. It doesn’t work with a lot of phones though I guess. Only certain androids work and I think all apple products.

nice...but you forgot the most important part..drilling a few holes on both left & right inner AC vents to allow some cold air conditioning air to leak to the back off the expensive 8.4" to prevent the infamous 8.4" screen peeling that will happen to 90% of these units..they get stupid HOT with no fans to cool them.

@@Rep361Texas I work at a dodge dealership and trust me this is definitely a big problem! this is why I drilled my ac vents to cool the 8.4" down.. it gets so hot that the screens adhesive starts to separate & you have a screen delamination..there is a aftermarket solution, but your correct as far as a oem replacement is big dollars if your not under warranty.

WILL THIS WORK ON MY 2014 CHARGER R/T PLUS. its a 100th anniversary theres some options available that normar rt chargers dont have i looked up z automotives website and it only says 2015+ 8.4 uconnect

Hello what size screen do you have and what software do you have? You should have the 8.4 inch unconnect due to thats the only option available for the warlock.

The chrome cast is its own hdmi, I went from that to a hdmi rca converter

@@stevef1304 off of the top of my head no, I rember looking up the radio pilot for the 8.4 unconnected and comparing it to the z automotive one, I do know mine had some items in the place I needed to pin but they weren't being used for my model truck. I wish I could help mor but it sounds like you may have to do as I did to be sure of what you may be removing
