Welding Bed Trunk Goes On The New Welding Rig

- In this video we will be building a trunk for this pipeline style welding bed. A trunk is handy for carrying jack stands if you do not use them very often. For example, in the 8 years, I pipeline welded I mostly mainlined so I did not use my jack stands very often. The custom trunk is also handy to store tools that a person may not use very often. This trunk we build in this video will hold 4 fold-up Sumner jack stands. #weldingrig #weldingbed #pipelinewelding

Amazing work! You're proof that all you really need to get sh*t done is a welder, a torch, a grinder, jackstands, and some measurement tools
And practice. That’s probably the most important part, I mean I have most of those tools and couldn’t get anywhere near this.

Get yourself a transfer punch set and you won’t need to worry about using soapstone to mark holes like that.

Again man awesome fab job, only thing I would do different on that jack box I would of put a nice size piece of expanded metal because sometimes the dust turns into mud and clogs the opening for water to drain out with the expanded metal it’s much easier to just get a water hose and clean everything out just from my experience

Excellent job on trunk. I noticed that when cutting out for latch your torch wasn't worping the metal. What size tip was you using and what was your regulators set at.

Ya I did. From my experience I haven’t been able to make my trunks deep enough with out cutting some of the bed frame stuff out. Spare tire, ect.
