Guys welcome back to another episode of building this pipeline style welding bed. Before we get started I know the voice overs are not as good as they should be but hey at least they are there. So in this episode we are laying out the fenders. This is a pretty critical part of the bed because the eye is naturally pulled to that area so if you are off or tweaked your eye will pick it up. So take your time to lay them out right. Guys like always don’t forget to share this video be blessed.
Who Are We? my name is Jake Schofield i am the owner of schofield welding LLC and we are happy to bring you youtube videos that are focused around God, the welding industry, being a rig welder, Family, Our great Country and Money. I am 29 years old and have been on the road chasing oil and gas work since i was 19 years old. I started as a welder helper in Fort worth Texas, Later went to one semester of welding school back home in Idaho and decided that being a welder helper was more my calling. So I went back to work as a helper in Wyoming. after that I was able to earn enough money to start buying my welding equipment starting with an old red face SA 200 after about a year of being a helper I finally broke out on a job in Greeley CO. I started on the pipelines and continued pipelining for 4 years and later transitioned into the fabrication side of building Facilities and gathering systems for the oil and gas. I have been through 2 down falls in oil prices the first time was a huge shock the sec Time we where ready. If you want to be ready for when times get hard be sure to tune into our money Monday episodes where I go through tactics and tricks to stay financially stable and how to find work during hard times. Throw lessons and mistakes ive made, I talk about them openly to try and help you guys avoid them. While I write this we are in another slump with oil prices and we havn't skipped a beat. We are still making money and doing whatever it takes to keep going. I have a beautiful wife Eliza who is a team player and travels with me in our 39 foot fifth wheel with our son Baylin who was born on the road in Brighton Colorado while we where on a job. We are full time RV livers. We use our fifth wheel to travel from job to job so that we can keep the family togehter and with me. I was very lucky in the fact that Elizas Dad my father in law also is a rig welder so she grew up this way. We hope this channel benifits you and we appreciate your support be blessed.

Before anybody says anything I am aware the voice overs are a little crackly and not my favorite. But I think the content over rides it. That being said I hope you guys enjoy the video. If you find any value in the information and want to help support the channel all we ask is share the video like it and leave us a comment. We truely do appreciate it. BE blessed.

It's coming along nicely. The best way I've found to ensure nothing rubs is to measure the distance from the bump stops to your axle or leaf spring depending on how your truck is set up.

What would be the best option for fenders if I’m going to be running 37” tires. I see y’all used 36” fenders but I’m having a hard time finding trailer fenders bigger than that. Would a certain gauge flat steel work roughly the same? Thanks for the videos.

    • @JacobSchofield

Skirts are 12 gauge. We where running into a little trouble with warping. So you need to jump around a lot when you weld them

I notice lot of pipeliner beds are chopped short, even chopping the truck frame sometimes...is that just to make towing easier?

    • @JacobSchofield

So my current bed the frame is chopped short. I chopped it right behind the springs. That being said I was going for a look. A single cab squatty little ROW truck

      Oh, ok.
So it has nothing to do with the 5th wheel? Or towing in general?
It *has* to be easier to maneuver a long trailer with a short truck versus a longer one, huh?

Better you have a service bed. Welders stay busy pipeliners don’t. If you run a service bed you have a lot more tool and supply storage and you can still do everything they did plus more.
