I think you are off base talking about his bladed stance. Just because trends have changed and the silly stance of today is all the rage (even when NOT wearing armor) doesn't mean the old techniques are wrong. Those of us who trained in combat arms 30-40 years ago don't need to be "cool" and do things the new trendy way like you mod kids feel is the "only way." Make fun of my chicken wing all you want but when I served my country that's exactly how the DI's insisted it be done.
To slightly agree/counter Duckworth's comment, I think the bladed stance makes sense given training from years ago. Dad was a PoG as well, and if Kizinger was a jag lawyer back then it makes sense that the 🐔 wing is that way, as well as the stance. Weaver stance was the norm back then, same for broomsticking the handle. However, to disagree, I think it's telling that HE'S NOT EVEN DOING THE WEAVER STANCE PROPERLY OR GOOD ENOUGH. @741podnammoc I think it comes down to what works for you and that there really is no "right" way if it gets good results. There might be wrong ways that are unsafe or cause accuracy issues, but if something is working let them be. Just because some new trendy stance or grip is all the rage doesn't mean older stuff is no longer valid. A lot of the modern stuff was adapted after body armor became ubiquitous but if you don't have armor and don't plan on getting any then pre-armor rifle stances are just as valid today as they were back then. Which reminds me when camela mentioned she had a Glock I knew she was lying because everyone will always mention the caliber or model (it matters).
If this was a public range these guys would have been asked to leave and never come back. At least a public range wouldn’t have steel targets 10 yards away. At least know the four rules of gun safety.
Looks to me like he's got an AR-15 (50- 400 meter targets) on a pistol range which is generally from 10- 50 meter targets... That is unsafe in itself firing at steel targets. That's a bad photo op and they're hoping that people are too ignorant to realize the reality of the situation. If they were firing at targets that close with an AR no wonder someone was injured 👀🙄🤔
An AR shooting 300 Blackout subsonic at pistol distances is fine because it's similar power to a pistol. That would be the exception. One of their pictures showed the business end of a loaded magazine. It was definitely not 300 Blackout.
Those distance's looked more air soft than actual gun range. The whole thing was strange! Who the heck was the RSO in charge by the way ? They need relieved of that duty for sure.
Many steel target manufactures and gun clubs require 100 yard minimum distance for shooting regular copper jacketed lead Remington .223 rounds at steel targets (which seems like an excessively safe distance). The closest distance I have been able to find from apparently responsible gun sources is 25 yards minimum distance. It looks like the guy in this video was shooting at steel from 5 to 10 yards, which is way too close. I have shot matches with 9mm pistol where the targets were at 10 to 10 yards and it wasn't uncommon to have bullet jackets rain down on us. This wasn't a safety concern because 9mm shoots at much slower velocities, so the backsplash of debris loses energy much faster.
Having seen the picture of the camera man with the tourniquet, I feel really bad for him. Those guys have no idea what they're doing. He looks like he's having a bad time. Very sad.
I wonder if they "think" this is a good thing to keep up because "A bleeding Trump got a bump in the polls, so maybe a bleeding reporter will get me a bump?"
