I hadn't gotten there yet. At 51, I'm not gonna now... i know enough about the whole thing.... Girl, you won me, I'll keep the channel.... OH! 🤚 it's bc of topic n crowd (subscriber /potential crowd noted in those) that draws "the blood advertising" out... i thought they held out too long to weed out these types a bit, but can see now why-specially after waiting for numbers (NOT CONTENT) to be a factor when it should be the other way around...
Its nuts because I work 8 hours a day, work out, then spend my remaining time from 5pm to 10pm to work on my channel (and cook/clean etcetc). that's 6am - 10pm of sitting at my desk working on stuff. Do i need to do it? no. But its a passion so to hear these people saying "WORKING 9 - 5 AS AN INFLUENCER IS SO HARD" really makes you wonder... maybe another meteor should it earth. P.s HYPE PARADE SPONSER!!!
You do work hard!! And exactly you do it because you want to, and you don’t take that for granted. Video creation and influencing like what these people do can absolutely be time consuming, difficult (learning new editing skills, etc.) but it’s by no means a hard job, and it’s a job that comes with so many privileges!!
Influencers are so Tone deaf. 😵💫 I wish I could do something for 1 hour and make $4,000. I have breast cancer and have been in treatments & surgeries for the past 10 months and I’ve been unable to work and have been fighting for disability. I have to do everything I can to pay my bills and feed myself and it’s been a huge struggle all year 😅
First of all, i'm so sorry to hear that and good luck with your treatments - i'm sending you the best healing vibes!!! And right?! I can't even imagine making $4k off of an hour of work.. what a dream!
I make a little over 4k after taxes per month and that's working 12.5 hour nightshifts as a nurse. My feet and back are constantly hurting. My insurance sucks and I'm allowed 3 sick days a year. I don't want to hear it from any "influencers "
Complaining influencers rarely mention what I would have thought are some of the key differences that make the wage hard earnt: less work life balance (always checking comments, looking for filming opportunities, can't really 'log off'), less privacy than the average worker, more security and stalker concerns, unreliable income, mental health inpact from ad hominem comments. They'd be my justifications, a lot of them are deliberately clickbaiting for the rage comments and it's easy to dislike them
True I totally relate to being "always on" a lot of the time i end up working on stuff from like 8am until 10pm because even just scrolling i'm getting ideas, writing things, making graphics on my laptop etc. But thats also a me issue LOL I need to be better at just being done for the day. I agree there are aspects to every job that are hard or not ideal - even influencing! but instead they complain about making more off a 1 minute video than a lot of people do in a month 🤣 maybe it is rage bait to get more comments and views!
Takes me almost 2 months to make $4,000 I don't have a car I live in a rural but busy area There's no sidewalks & it's over 5 mile walk to work Half the walk is down a highway On top of that I'm about to be living in a tent cause my landlord has to sell his house to move close to his elderly sick parents Watching them complain about how "poor & hardworking" they are low-key made me cry & feel like even more of a failure than I already do
Even when at my most frugal, as I grew up couponing and I still do it to this day, I check my bank account every single day, 2-3 times. In the morning to ensure nothing came out that was accidently removed from the budget but didn't cancel correctly. Before bed to ensure I spent according to my budget if I spent. And before making any purchase so I can talk myself out of things.
I'm similar! the only time i don't check my bank account is if its truly making me so anxious i put it off for a bit... I cant imagine just knowing I have enough money and everything is paid to where I don't even check it anymore!
Nurse here. I have worked 12-13 hr shifts with one half-hour break per shift for my entire adult life. I have never made 4000 dollars in one hour, and I probably never will unless I somehow become a hospital CEO or something.
LMAO I knew you were talking about the Mikayla clip before it came on screen. And yay sponsorship! I usually don't buy things I see advertised in videos but I'm actually intrigued by Parade
Damn I need to start following which influencers are dating billionaires and create IG accounts with their future first/last name combo so I can make bank
I can see where they are coming from with the bullying. People writing it off as 'oh poor rich baby' really sucks, if we allow peoples ability to voice their concerns for their mental health to be linked to a characteristic then we give people permission to judge who can have mental health struggles. Give people who want to judge if others are worthy enough for mental health struggles an inch and they will soon be taking a mile and change the boundry lines. Everyones mental health concerns are valid regardless of their job
Veryyyy true, i think bullying is the worst part about what influencers do - and bullying for the sake of just being mean and tearing people down is never okay! I think sometimes they lump genuine criticism in with the bullying which is where I kind of draw the line - i think they get so much needless hate that when theyre called out for something genuine they see it as the same as the hate. I think influencers talking about bullying specifically can actually be helpful in making others going through that feel less alone! It all depends on the tone IMO.
I WISH I could be an influencer. I’m a middle school teacher and coach. Some days I work from 7AM-8PM. I have to be “on” all day because if I’m not, the kids will notice. I’m pregnant currently and have to be careful about what sick days I use so I can still qualify for maternity leave. The kids bring so many viruses/sicknesses that it’s hard to stay healthy. There’s constantly the fear of being shot at. AND SO MUCH MORE.
I loath the way these types of influencers act like they’re stuck in the rat race. It’s hard to be alive, being paid to share things that you’ve chosen to share from a place of comfort isn’t the hard part.
I guess I struggle to see why they aren’t allowed to have feelings of struggle or share these just because others have it worse? Of course other people have it hard, but in the first clip, I didn’t hear them bringing others down, only expressing the challenges over a major change they are experiencing. It’s a little gross to say someone can’t be disappointed that their pay was cut dramatically, even if they were making more to begin with. There are always people who have it worse than you. That doesn’t mean it can’t still bother you when it happens.
I agree and totally think they can express it! Their feelings are valid, I’d be upset at a pay cut too. Like you said someone somewhere is always doing worse, I think where it strikes people (myself included) as tone deaf is that they’re complaining TO the people doing worse than them. Like I think the conversation would have been better received for them if they just had that convo with other friends who are also TikTok creators who can all relate. But majority of us hearing someone complain about “only” making $4k for a 1 minute video that took an hour to make is just so un relatable. Their feelings aren’t less valid or anything, but a lot of people are struggling to keep a roof over their head or food in the fridge with the way things are right now. Them needing to sell their $120k car to put towards their house was hard for them I’m sure, but people who have to decide what groceries to buy vs put back probably aren’t the right audience to voice that to 🤣 I agree everyone is entitled to their own feelings about things!
this is the real definition of people want you to suffer exactly like them and if you do not suffer exactly like them then you are comfortable. every industry has its own problems and just because they do not look like yours doesn't mean they are any less of problems. how is mikayla saying you do not want this job out of touch? so annoying!!!
Boohoo, my bosses dont care about my mental health struggles they just want me to be productive. This problem isn't unique to sociall media. Theres an old term leave your personal lofe at the door, because corporations dont care. But sure Jan, tell us how hard it is going viral and making a living off of eating food dipped in mustard and cottage cheese. Ill cry a river for you. 100%! Like it’s not really fair for her to put on her audience that people don’t come to her page to hear her complain about being an influencer. No job lets you actively complain about the job while ON the job!
I think being an influencer is harder than it looks and a lot of them get unnecessary hate. HOWEVER, they shouldn't speak like their lives are so hard and complain about money issues. It's completely tone deaf. (Kind of what you said at 20:20) In case anyone is wondering why I think it's harder than it looks, I'll explain. A lot of influencers have managers (even if they don't, some of the next stuff still applies to them) They have meetings, they have an "image' they have to uphold by dressing/acting certain ways. They sometimes have to do sponsorships even if they don't agree with the product/brand and then receive hate for doing said sponsorship. They don't keep all of their money because the manager gets a percentage, sometimes they get screwed over in their contracts. If seen in public they're expected to be happy/welcoming to fans even if they're having a shitty day or else risk getting cancelled. They also don't have much job security because social media apps are unreliable with how much they pay. In the video with Mads and her bf they could've just said "TikTok is paying less than they used to so I'm selling my car and we're moving to Texas" without acting like their life is so much harder. That would've been fine. I also don't agree that with the whole "most jobs don't care about your personal life so don't expect the same on social media" a lot of influencers are famous for sharing their day to day lives or personality online. Your problems would be included in that, would they not? To say influencers struggle more with mental health than other people is isane. That doesn't mean they don't struggle with it though, money doesn't buy a healthy brain. Of course it can buy therapy though 😅 Anyway sorry for the long ass comment lol TLDR: Being an influencer is more stressful and complicated than it seems. That doesn't mean that it's as hard or harder than a normal person's job/life. Both sides should be more open and aware.
Yeah $4000 is way more than I've ever made in a month. $4000/month ~$25/hr which is hard to find even WITH a college degree. So "only" making $4000 for an HOUR of your time and effort is waaaaay out of touch. and a $120,000 car? I don't think any of my friends own one with even a tenth of that value.
It’s so frustrating to see someone complain about only making 4000 in an hour, when just making that in a month would help a lot of people. And complaining about having to sell their 120,000 dollar car when some people can’t even afford a used one is so ignorant.
I always fast fwd ads (besides Charlotte D) and I watched all of it. You have a very honest look. And I love how you explain it! I never thought I could get a bralet my size!
I spend hours (10+) a day making products for my shop for a couple hundred bucks and that's if it sells. Them complaining about an hour of work to make well over my monthly salary is insane. And im not complaining, im so grateful I can even make anything making my art.

My first part time job in college was as a file clerk for the insurance company my dad worked at. I moved huge boxes of files down stairs to put them away in shelves. Very hot and dirty work. This was 1996. I made 5.85 an hour. Min wage was 5.15. It can ALWAYS be worse!
I just had to pause at 7:13 ... he needs to sell his car for $120k for HALF of a down payment on a house??????????????? Where tf are they going to be moving to Beverly Hills??? (For those who don't know, a down payment is usually around 20% of what your loan is, so if you're paying $350k for a house which is the medium for most areas, you should only need about $70k as a down payment)
That's so funny, I see the Asplund trucks, street sweepers, and stump grinders all the time on summer road crews. I work in Retail. We would want to try to tell influencers to trade lives with their followers for a week, but we've seen their answers to that. Example : They cosplay Retail workers to shill their pricey popcorn for a day or 2, then go back to their "Normal" lives.
Agreed, I also work retail as my main job! And 100% pretending to work retail to promote your product is VASTLY different than an average retail shift - not to mention the pay is entirely different than what they make too!!

Social media affects your health in a unique way. I am a ´normal´person and I had a cat video go viral. I was slammed with hate comments and the amount of anxiety it gave me was insane. Not saying I agree to these delulu influencers… but that is one thing I can´t scoff at. THEY did sign up for it though.
I remember one winter the power went out in my city and it caused my whole block to have our heating units go out. My husband and I were LUCKY to be able to afford to buy some space heaters. We had to open our oven to warm the half of the house that the space heater couldn’t reach. It was miserable we lived like that for a week. I WISH we could’ve afforded to go spend the week in the hotel Jesus 😂😂
I would sympathize with influencers if they talked about anything else other than money when complaining about their jobs. If they talked about how it's draining to make every aspect of their life content, or how being an influencer is isolating, i'd care more. But all they do is complain about money when they already have more than most people could ever earn.
Crazy to me how quickly they go out of touch. Like you spend 25 years being “normal” and not rich and then you are rich for a year or 2 and become a terrible human. Like how!?!?
The irony of someone trying to talk about how when she brings up her mental health, she's told to shut up and stop complaining - just for you to tell her to stop complaining....
The Katherine Aspland thing just baffles me. (Well to be fair, all these influencers baffle me.) I have an extremely common name. So much so I can’t even Google myself. To think she is the only person with that name amongst the 8 billion people on Earth, is simply narcissistic behavior. People need to realize that they don’t need to broadcast their every thought to the world. You need to pick and choose your audience. If an influencer wants to complain they need to complain to another influencer. Someone who can sympathize with their “plight”.
Mustard girl has been disliked for years on UA-cam. She constantly pushes her weight loss secrets but it changes depending on what diet she’s on at the time. She was weight watchers, keto, one meal a day now mustard. Every time saying this is how she lost all her weight yet it wasn’t.
This was fun because it's just so insane..I mean the homelessness in the US is just depressing. People, families are suffering so bad. But I guess that's the great divide nowadays 😢
Agreed, I always think about that too when doing videos like this. I live in Canada and the homeless population is huge and growing, people are being priced out of places they’ve lived their whole lives, it’s horrible!! And then these peoples day is hard because they received too much PR 🤣
I have work from 7.30 to 4 and if you count overtime and driving home, that adds 2 to 4 hours on top of that, so I don't get home until 8.30. And because I'm busy during the weekdays, I do my chores and errands on the weekends. So if I'm lucky, I only have Sunday off, but it has to be cut short because I need to sleep early for work the next day. My life is tough, but as an introvert, I like it...
i sometimes work 9-5. the fact she is able to be home at 519 is my dream because depending on the day i get home at 6 or 7 and may not be able to eat dinner till later
Dude has a 120 grand car paid off. Needs to sell for home down payment. Sounds like too much car trading for too much house bruh. I thought you were tightening your belt.
I checked my bank account earlier hoping I would have ten dollars. Nope. Negative 44 dollars. 😭 Payday is over a week away too. Don't worry about me though cause we have food. I was just wanting to tell someone.
To be fair to Emma Chamberlain, I feel like a lot of celebrities don't know how much money they have. A lot of them mismanage it and go broke. So if she's got a team of people watching her funds and able to tell her if she can afford that trip or not, good for her, I guess. That's how I took that statement--like she has an accountant or someone she trusts to watch those things for her. And I just scrubbed through her Last Meal video with Mythical Kitchen trying to find another piece of her talking about this. She's a very anxious person, so in some aspects, not being in charge of her own money makes sense to me. I don't check my bank account as often as I probably should, but I"m not millionaire rich.
Yeah that first couple could have probably been more understandable/relatable if they had talked about inconsistent paychecks, cause it almost sounded like thats what they meant. Like they may get a $4k check but then it might be nothing for a long while, which has maybe changed from before, when they could get the expensive car.. So then the plan of him getting a regular job with consistent pay, kinda makes sense. Its less arrogant anyway. But they kinda blew that whole thing.
Social media for the most part is a part-time gig.. if your lucky and for whatever reason people love you then you'll blow up and can do it full-time maybe. Everyone going into though should really see it as a fun side job, much like when I did u er after my regular 9-5. Half the world wants to be influencers, it's not realistic 🤷 that goes for anything. Imagine tomorrow we all wanted to work at McDonald's, or 30% of the population went to school to be nurses. Idk just dumb examples, point is it doesn't work, not make sense.

The car I bought for $2500 over 100k miles ago, hearing about his car that is apparently worth $120,000 USED: 👁👄👁
I feel you, we have a 2014 car, and my fiancé is always saying when it breaks he is just done for a while since it’s cost so much to keep it going! 🤣
@@KylaJames Oh no!! I wish you better luck with cars moving forward! I just got hit with a $1500 repair and can't afford a new one, so I feel ya! 🥲
😂😂 I was expecting to hear maybe like $20k. I’m not in the same income bracket, I don’t even know what expensive is.
I wish I could do something for 1 hour and make $4,000.
@@KylaJames Thank you for your kind words, it really means a lot.
I meant to say that I loved this video & your hair looks amazing 🤩
@@amyleeglassner Oh thank you so much
I make a little over 4k after taxes per month and that's working 12.5 hour nightshifts as a nurse.
The whole Asplund thing is so funny when you're Swedish. It's such a common name here.😂
"my name is Katherine"
"And that's ILLEGAL" has been living in my head rent free for weeks 😂 makes me chuckle every time I think about it
Takes me almost 2 months to make $4,000
I don't have a car
I live in a rural but busy area
There's no sidewalks & it's over 5 mile walk to work
Half the walk is down a highway
On top of that I'm about to be living in a tent cause my landlord has to sell his house to move close to his elderly sick parents
Watching them complain about how "poor & hardworking" they are low-key made me cry & feel like even more of a failure than I already do
Even when at my most frugal, as I grew up couponing and I still do it to this day, I check my bank account every single day, 2-3 times.
HAHAH “I just finished work and it’s 519” pops into my head every now and then 🤣
Honestly love them!! If you pick anything up I hope you love it!
As someone who lives paychack to paycheck i just wanna talk to them.. i just wanna talk
Okay right, I feeeel you there!
Literally!
Damn I need to start following which influencers are dating billionaires and create IG accounts with their future first/last name combo so I can make bank
$120,000 for a car? That’s more than my wife and I make together. Cry me a f*cking river.
Right?! Insane!! Life changing money for most of us!
AND SO MUCH MORE.
if social media pays “so bad” they can just get a regular job on the side, no?
(Victim mentality I think)
new subscriber here! love seeing smaller youtubers getting sponsorships too, keep it up
Thank you so much for the support!!
That first girl in the couple also posted a video about how she openly lies in her sponsorships and that is/should be standard practice.
My family is on the verge of becoming homeless and people are complaining about making "only" 4k from an hour of work.
I hope things work out for your family
this is the real definition of people want you to suffer exactly like them and if you do not suffer exactly like them then you are comfortable. every industry has its own problems and just because they do not look like yours doesn't mean they are any less of problems. how is mikayla saying you do not want this job out of touch? so annoying!!!
Love your videos but these people enrage me so coupdnt finish
(Kind of what you said at 20:20)
In case anyone is wondering why I think it's harder than it looks, I'll explain.
Of course it can buy therapy though 😅
Anyway sorry for the long ass comment lol
TLDR: Being an influencer is more stressful and complicated than it seems.
Dude, $4,000/hr is rough. Prayers.
It’s so frustrating to see someone complain about only making 4000 in an hour, when just making that in a month would help a lot of people. And complaining about having to sell their 120,000 dollar car when some people can’t even afford a used one is so ignorant.
Agreed!! $4k a month would be huge for me! It’s hard to listen to when majority of people are struggling so bad right now
I always fast fwd ads (besides Charlotte D) and I watched all of it. You have a very honest look. And I love how you explain it! I never thought I could get a bralet my size!
This is why I tend to not bat an eye when influencers get robbed. They flaunt their wealth and COMPLAIN about it. Karma.
$4000 for an hour of work?? i can’t imagine complaining about that wtf
I spend hours (10+) a day making products for my shop for a couple hundred bucks and that's if it sells. Them complaining about an hour of work to make well over my monthly salary is insane. And im not complaining, im so grateful I can even make anything making my art.
I’m sorry. These folks have zero clue currently. And thanks for Parade! Excited to check it out!!
18:25 that comment pissed me off. Because I have tried SO DAMN HARD TO BE ONE TO BE ABLE TO JUST GET ENOUGH MONEY COMING IN TO AFFORD FUCKING FOOD!!
This just pissed me off so much!!
Oh heaven Mercy..the chic with the salad..why did she change her voice to this New York/ Boston. It's so annoying as all get out..
"the chic with the salad" sent me 🤣🤣 It is her real accent apparently! Though I have heard she never used to have it so i'm not sure
@KylaJames I heard that she does have a Boston accent but she is really playing it up for the video to the point of absurdity.
I almost quit my job when I transported a preschool aged child that was ran over by a truck. Wild…
This woman married into that family and now thinks any other woman with that name is infringing on her notoriety as the new addition to the prestigious Assssplund dynasty. Probably thinks a reality show is imminent.
hmm. try being a teacher in an inner city. try being a firefighter. try being an ER nurse. try being a medical researcher. try being a parent. try being a social worker working with unsheltered vets (me). i can think of plenty of other jobs that are much more mentally taxing than being an influencer will ever be.
@@KylaJames Most definitely! Thanks for your Like & Reply! ❤ Let's see them live on $13/hr & under. I currently make less than $10 /hr part time with no benefits & less than 40hrs in two weeks. That's what especially ticks me off about the $4,000 vids.
I got my hours at my corporate job changed to 7-4, and I can’t even express how lucky I feel to be able to do that lol
Ayy!! A win is a win!
I’d love to have these influencer come to work with me welding for 10-12 hours a day.
At first I thought the Brittosh lady said 'I'm off to Wallmart.'
That first couple probably isn’t even still together 😂
I wish I had the relaxation of Emma, where I don’t check my bank account 😂
I don't check it as often as I should because I don't want the jumpscare 😅
The lady saying she just got off work at 5:19 And try being an influencer for a day…. that’s not even her real voice….
I love seeing rich people not get what they want.
You know it's bad when Tana thinks you are out of touch
Cute Parade options! Glad to see you and Isabella getting cute sponsorships. And this topic... 😅 my Lord are they out of touch!
i sometimes work 9-5. the fact she is able to be home at 519 is my dream because depending on the day i get home at 6 or 7 and may not be able to eat dinner till later
Dude has a 120 grand car paid off. Needs to sell for home down payment. Sounds like too much car trading for too much house bruh. I thought you were tightening your belt.
Who is the one that doesn't check her bank account. 😂😂😂😂😂Her accountant lets her know how much she has.
I checked my bank account earlier hoping I would have ten dollars. Nope. Negative 44 dollars. 😭 Payday is over a week away too. Don't worry about me though cause we have food. I was just wanting to tell someone.
I feel ya 🥺
Hope things get better for you soon, friend!
I would CRY happy tears if I even made a quarter that!
Great video but I kept getting distracted by your beautiful and perfect hair 😭
Omg thank you 🥺 you’re too kind!
Me too
12:45 I’ve heard so many influencers say if you can’t take the negativity it’s not for you, so this girl clearly needs a new job
The people who watch these clips and don‘t defollow these influencers don‘t deserve better.
Ugh queen I luv your channel ❤
Thank you so much for watching!! 🩷
The first couple shocks me. I’m 32 and still can’t afford to put a down payment down. This new generation is tone deaf in general.
Wonder how Mikayla would react to my 23 hour workday yesterday lol
Yeah that first couple could have probably been more understandable/relatable if they had talked about inconsistent paychecks, cause it almost sounded like thats what they meant. Like they may get a $4k check but then it might be nothing for a long while, which has maybe changed from before, when they could get the expensive car.. So then the plan of him getting a regular job with consistent pay, kinda makes sense. Its less arrogant anyway. But they kinda blew that whole thing.
You’re so underrated!!
Bro's bitchin' about income and is displaying a full leg tattoo.
Imagine if these people had to drive for Amazon and pee in a bottle all day so they don’t lose their job.
If I wasn’t being taxed on my income, I’d have to work 320 hours to make $4000 and even then I wouldn’t have that much bc bills are a thing
I rent and I have NO car JS 8:31
Social media for the most part is a part-time gig.. if your lucky and for whatever reason people love you then you'll blow up and can do it full-time maybe. Everyone going into though should really see it as a fun side job, much like when I did u er after my regular 9-5. Half the world wants to be influencers, it's not realistic 🤷 that goes for anything. Imagine tomorrow we all wanted to work at McDonald's, or 30% of the population went to school to be nurses. Idk just dumb examples, point is it doesn't work, not make sense.
Woo another Kyla video!! 🎉
Thank you for watching! 🩷
Can’t wait for trends to change and they fall into the real world. Happens to alot of creators.
Totally off topic, may you please do a skin care and makeup tutorial? 🙏
I could post one on TikTok or IG maybe! 🩷🩷
I go grocery shopping with the calculator app on my phone 😀🙂
I just found your page. I just joined tiktok...
I thought, "A bitchin' about bitchin'"... gotta hear about this."
THEN (this is EMPHASIS of tone - not yelling btw) heard real complaining about $4000 for an hour of TALK... that is FUN for me!!!! 🙄 my bipolar can do that standing on one toe with 9 spinning paper plates on the end of toothpicks!!! 🙄😄
Ahahah right?! Like making a video for an hour, doing things most of us do for fun 🤣 then complains because it only made $4000 for that hour of work… wild
Me in my 2008 Kia Sorento:

21:13 when tana is the voice of reason YOU KNOW ur not correct
The only way I get close (still not 4K) is me and my bf as a joint income working 40 hour work weeks 😀 v frustrating to hear him complain abt getting 4K from an hour of work
Your eyebrows look amazing 😊
$4,000 a video??? I make at most $300/week are you kidding?? 😂 I wonder if they know money management anyway, or is it all going towards brand deals and starbucks
Working minimum wage at McDonald’s is harder than being an influencer
