    I know I'm a little late to the party but those grease guns are designed to have the fitting loosened, fitted to the nipple and tightened to apply grease then loosened again for disconnection. No one ever dose this ( including me ) and it is the main cause of the fittings wearing out and nipples breaking off. Loving the build

      I did not know that Shane, I’ll give it a crack the next time I do a grease job. Thanks for sharing mate, I sincerely appreciate it 👍😎

    Tip Top as usual Terry. Don't forget I have plenty of spares if you find anything beyond refurb/repair.

    Hey mate really informative video. I've been rebuilding every serviceable part on my BJ42 and I always stare blankly at that little idler box and wonder if I should rebuild it. Your video has given me the confidence to do it if I feel the need! I'm gonna start from the start and watch your build. Keep up up good work!!

    Hang on a minute there sunshine. Did someone come around to your shed and sand blast and paint the chassis, or did you send it out? What was the cost?

      It is still a killer mate, grass is growing before my very eyes it’s that wet out! I got the kit from Online Auto Parts and it had this description. Idler Arm Repair Kit suits Toyota 40 Series BJ40 BJ42 FJ40 FJ45 FJ55 HJ45 HJ47 bj40 bj42 fj40 fj45 fj55 hj45 hj47 models 04453-60021. I got it on their eBay store but I would imagine you could get it off their website as well. Thanks for watching and asking the question Daniel. Cheers😎👍

    Hi Terry, has the por15 held up? I see lots of mixed reviews when applied to clean metal.

      Yes indeed it has mate. As long as it has something to bite into it works very well. Slick smooth steel, not so good. Cheers👍😎

    the reason the seal could have popped out is it was installed the wrong way, the seal should be set up so the grease can come out of the lip when you grease it, if you put it the wrong way the seal wont let grease out and will hydraulic out, try greasing it and see what happens, if it pops out, turn it the other way... I did it once 30 years ago, so I am no expert.

    • @JafffaAdventures
      @JafffaAdventures  3 роки тому +1

      Excellent advice mate, thanks for taking the time to share it with me and everyone reading and watching. I did indeed grease it and it was just as you described, a small amount of grease came out past the seal. I did not pay any attention to the orientation of the original seal, so I can’t confirm if it hydrauliced or was just past it’s prime at 46 years old😂. Again, thanks for sharing 😎👍

      @@JafffaAdventures I look forward to watching you build this, I have a soft spot for this vehicle, and its probably the reason I have a bad back lol.
