Mate I would have made the same mistake with the spring orientation, good to know. Agree ARB should supply the mounting hard ware especially after waiting 4 months and had you known you would have already sourced new stuff. Really enjoy your vids I hope you keep them coming.

Great video, I’ve just installed ARB suspension into my BJ42 and the front shocks are touching the strut tower, after watching your video I realise that I’ve installed the front springs backwards, can’t wait to correct them tomorrow and see if it solves the issue. I purchased new cup washers from Toyota, the codes are 90948-03003 inner and 90948-03004 outer.

Looking really good now Terry. I was just thinking that it wood be an ideal time now to do a bit of over engineering. Considering the size of the motor that you will be installing, have you considered welding into the frame some additional bracing. After all the frame is a little compromised with some rust pitting, and the torque that engine will be pushing through it could result in sloppy handling or even a complete failure. It would be cheap insurance while you still have clear access to the frame. Anyway, I’m enjoying the build and really look forward to the next edition. Cheers. 👍
Thanks David, I appreciate you watching and following along. The points you made re additional bracing are all valid. I decided not to for two reasons. Firstly, I’m lazy if the truth be known. Secondly, this is a work ute and primarily used on bitumen and dirt roads. I believe the chassis flex and potential compromise would be a issue if I can get the rear wheels to hook up. To be honest, I doubt I will be able to get enough traction to the ground to compromise the frame. Big power, lowish gearing, slush box transmission, and not a lot of weight on the rear axles are all working in my favour. So that’s my logic. It remains to be seen once finished if I’m under the car with a welder reinforcing the frame and giving myself an upper cut at the same time😂👍😎

I am already excited to get my Frame as neat looking as yours. Hey you talked about the plus sign on the spring having a slightly higher bias there for should be on the drivers side, but I noticed that you have them both on the front axle.
No I did not say the plus sign indicates a higher bias. Watch the video around the 6 minute mark. The plus sign denotes the fixed end of the spring, as opposed to the shackle end.👍😎

Sorry Vinnie I do not. What I do know is that there are two part numbers, one for smaller diameter shackles and one for larger. The early ones are small, the later ones are large. I'm not sure what year they crossed over but it would pay to do some research on this so you don't get the wrong ones. My 74 model were the small diameter shackles. I would download the ARB catalogue from there site, I'm sure the suspension part numbers would be in there as that is where I started my hunt. Cheers
Your not meant to grease the OD of suspension bushes only the ID to help prevent them spinning around in the spring eye or chassis mounts the pins what's meant to be moving...

ARB is sourcing its leaf springs from Indonesia and Thailand but their components and shocks come from another place.....
