After 3 long years *BAND-MAID* returned back to the US for their October 2022 US tour they were worried if the fans would remember them since last time, they performed in the states was back in 2019. But once they returned, they were pleasantly surprised on the reception they received. So surprised that *Kanami* was inspired to write a song during the tour later *Miku* and *Saiki* then began writing the lyrics and on January 9th 2023 *BAND-MAID* presented to the fans at TOKYO GARDEN THEATER. Now it is presented to the rest of the world! In the beginning there was a small pigeon 🐦 who met a guitarist 🎸 who played with a drummer 🥁 who went to school with the bassist 🎸 and then tricked the singer 🎤 to join the band then the small pigeon 🐦 asks the guitarist 🎸 please teach me how to play the guitar 🎸. The Story Continues.
The desert scenes were filmed in Antelope Valley, California, just outside of LA. The live footage is from their Tokyo Garden Theater concert last January. Kanami (lead guitarist) wrote the music whilst on the tour bus last fall while traversing the US as a(nother) love letter to the Maidiacs.
In the vein of other great mid-tempo Band-Maid songs like Daydreaming, Anemone, About Us, Endless Story, PAGE, Wonderland, Awkward, Start Over, Mirage, At the Drop of a Hat and Smile -- I’m so touched that their time in the States inspired the sentiment of Memorable. Kanami actually wrote the song on their touring bus! Thx, red & Chelle!
From Japan I'm over 60 years old, but BAND-MAD and Miku are my role models in life. If I believe in myself and keep trying without giving up, I can achieve anything. Life is often difficult, but there is meaning to living. Miku created her ideal band, but it wasn't popular. Still, she never gave up. That's what led them to where they are today. And she started playing the guitar from scratch among the talented members and is now a side guitarist who can also play solo.
If one went and witnessed Band-Maid during their 2022 U.S. tour and understands this was written for us that did, then it is hard to watch this without tearing up. I can't. They really love us, and they love America(I think especially the food. haha), and we will love them forever in return.
I'm not a lyrics person, but this is one song that you 100% absolutely need to understand the lyrics and what's behind them for the song to hit as hard as it's meant to. (IMO) - in the fall of 22, the maids came to the US to play in front of a live audience for the first time since COVID. They have said that while they saw most of the shows sell out, they were still apprehensive about people showing up and what kind of reception they'd get. Well - I flew to San Diego to catch one of their shows, and this 60+ year old (who've attended hundreds of live shows) had never heard a crowd this loud IN MY LIFE!!! I actually put in my earplugs because of the crowd as much as the music volume. The tsunami of love for the ladies had to hit them really hard - I mean there's no way it couldn't I'm happy to say. This song - is the result of that love that they felt. It still hits hard for me because of that.
Great reaction and great to have Chelle in a video again. I recently finished (for the second time) a documentary series on each one of the Bandmaid members done by Ohrenje. You can find them by just going to his channel under that name....very much worth the watch! Excellent research, good video quality and narration, with humor....very honoring to the the band as a whole! I would suggest that you start with lead singer, Saiki, and as I've seen it done on someone's channel before, you too could easily feature each segment on your channel! What a quality band of very dedicated young ladies! Until the next one....cheers!🤘
As others have commented, I recommend the BAND-MAID documentary on Ohrenje's channel, as it delves into each of the 5 characters in an easy-to-understand manner. Also, please check out Ohrenje's latest video of the 10th anniversary concert "BAND-MAID / 10th Anniversary & Yokohama Arena".
We really do enjoy Shel or anyone else on camera discovering great music! BandMaid is the best proper rock and roll band on the planet touring currently. Full dtop. I find I must embrace hyperbole when speaking about BandMaid. So this is what we get when a culture has an ethos of excellence in doing anything from running a railroad to wrapping a sandwich. Find immensely talented and intelligent musicians who attended public schools with music programs who are still dedicated to further developing their skills in music making you get the raw building blocks for BandMaid. But without the might and iron will of Miku Kobato there would be no BandMaid. Without the courage (and encouragement) of Saiki Atsumi there would be no soaring vocals due to lack of going thru frightening surgery. Without the extreme hard work and inventive gemius of Kanami Tono others might still be writing BandMaid's music. Without her generosity of spirit Akane Hirose and MISA might feel stifled in the creative process. Can we agree that MISA snd Akane are two immensely creative musicians on their instruments. Plus add in the true multilingual poetry of Kobato the songs would be less rich and more bland. She doesn't get enough attention in my opinion for her lyrical poetry. Add the greatest power on Earth LOVE and we get BandMaid.
Hello from Sunny Southport. Oh yeah...definitely show Chelle the stronger Shades of Maid Rock. The 'Dice' MV is a firm fave of mine but everything they do is superb 👌👍🤘🤘🤘
The good or bad thing about maid music is their versatility - if the first song from them you listen to is a ballad, or rock, or pop-punk, or progressive rock or whatever, people may think that's the only style of music they play and that's their sound. The real fun starts when you dig in deeper. 😊
Well in reality Kanami composes on Piano and then speeds the song up,when she cjanges it to their current line up. And she knows that especially their rytm section changes it in reality. Misa supports the instrument that in her opinion needs her support the most. And Akane at the drums reaerves the same right for her contribution.
Always nice to have a partner in a reaction to get the back-in-forth and another perspective. You're are unusual in that you have now done reactions to all 3 of their songs to their fans. I'm going to suggest a couple of couples. Dice/Hate? from Lollapalooza, their entire concert streamed on Hulu and this double song part can be found with a search. Video director didn't always know who to focus on but the music is great. Also "secret Maiko lips" from their channel to be paired with "secret My lips from their channel too.

Kanami wrote this during the 2022 U.S. tour. The outside part of the video was filmed at Joshua Tree national Park in California.
Great song, written for the fans. Thanks for the reaction!

Hey Chelle! Hope you enjoyed seeing Band-Maid’s much softer side. This band just never ceases to amaze.
🐿️ What a wild introduction to Band Maid. Follow this up with “Don’t you tell ME” live from Zepp Tokyo 2018…just have a defibrillator nearby 😂

Always fun to see the birth of a new Maidiac.
I have another japanese band for you. HADES. Worth a look.
