They play a wide range of "rock". They have an alter ego called BAND-MAIKO, where they experimented with a different style, I would recommend "Gion-cho" to check out this style. Ballads or slow songs were quite rare until they noticed that fans were collapsing at concerts, so they put out the album Conqueror with several slow songs to give fans a breather. "Daydreaming" and "about Us" are both amazing ballads (ironically not from Conqueror). They also did an acoustic Christmas concert with new arrangements for all the songs. The video for "Sayonakidori" was taken from that concert, and features Miku on lead vocals and has MISA covering some guitar parts on bass.
Nice reaction. I like versatility in bands. I saw them for the the third time in Nashville and they played this song, which was written for their fans during the fall 2022 tour. I am not the 'groupie' type or simp on a lot of people, or groups, but this band has truly captured my heart and my musical appreciation. They are near my daughters' ages. It seems many of the Japanese bands are quite versatile. Nemophila, Lovebites, Band-Maid, etc. are all capable of playing virtually any type of music. Even Waggaki plays a jazzy song, and Unlucky Morpheus has one with a muted trumpet included. The ability of the musicians, as well as creativity and songwriting skills is remarkable. Whereas we were often lucky to get 2 or 3 decent songs per album from the old rock groups, it seems every song put out by these groups is excellent. You could concentrate just on the Japanese groups and have reactions for a year, lol. This is a sweet song, and I believe someone mentioned it was filmed in the Senora desert, kind of a cool scenic background.
Hey Guy nice to hear from you. Nemophila video will be out soon. You are totally right that I could just do these groups and still not cover everything in a year. But they are all so good.
Greetings Bob, hope you are well. Another Band-Maid song where they show their appreciation and love for their fans. I mean, how many other bands do that, and more than once. I always love to hear Saiki sing in her lower range as she has such a smooth sound. Miku’s backup vocals are wonderful as ever. It’s one of the rare times Misa finger plays and it fits so well with this song. And then there’s Kanami and Akane. Kanami’s harmonics leading into the bridge before her solo is brilliant. Akane playing fast during the solo but never interfering with it. What more can be said? From a musicians point of view they are so refreshing. I never get tired of listening to Band-Maid.
Well said Robin. Hope you are doing well. Every song I hear from these talented ladies just shows me something incredible and unique that they can do. So talented.
The voices you heard in the very beginning was recorded from back stage from one of their shows back in their 2022 October US tour.....nice little touch since this was another love pouring to their fans from that 2020 US 1-month tour. A favorite ballad of mine is "PAGE" from their "Conqueror" album, no video but here's the song, it's a gorgeous tune. ua-cam.com/video/nxCjEu4_7rU/v-deo.html
Some fans even will poo poo these slower more melodic songs by Band-Maid, but decent musicians will easily see the quality on the compositions. Akane's drumming is impecable as usual. I wish that they would do some slower hard rock so that we could appreciate the musicianship more easily. Great reaction as usual. Try Smile (acoustic) from the online show from 2021- it's in my top 5 and you will see why- Saiki is a vocal Goddess.

😂 I've never heard of this band. But now I'm wondering if you'll rave about absolutely any song. 😅 This sounds like a bland generic pop song that anyone could get made at a company that will give you a song and music video like Rebecca Black did back in the day. But maybe I need to hear rock from this pre-fab K-Pop band so I'll understand the love?
Like or dislike is personal, no problem. Making false, derogatory toned statement is not nice. They are NOT "pre-fab K-pop". They are a Japanese HARD Rock band that also has a softer side in their repertoire. Also, all band members was selected by the band founder, the rhythm guitarist.
That’s a pretty generic comment from someone who supposedly wrote award wining screenplay. Maybe music is out of your comfort zone and you don’t know what you’re talking about or you just tried to be funny but your humor expired some years ago. Not sure.
So talented.
second the comment, About us , is mandatory listening. thanks for listening
Thanks Stephen!
Very different than anything they have done before. Try the acoustic Sayonakidori to see some MISA magic.
Absolutely man.
Thanks I’ll check it out.
Thanks Jim I’ll check it out.
DAYDREAMING..best ballad band maid KANAMI emotional solo...and SMILE acoustic version..100%😊😊
I’ll have to check it out. Thanks.
You need to listen to some of there Acoustic :)
Thanks Graham!
If you want to check out some more of their slower ssongs, I would suggest About US "Live" and Wonderland "live" from their channel. Daydreaming is a nice 80's style power ballad. Enjoyed!
Thanks so much for thr suggestions!
Something lighter then?

Thanks I’ve got the videos on the list now. I appreciate you giving those to me. I’ll try to get to them as soon as I can.
Location looks like Joshua Tree, California...anyone?
It does.
" Wonderland " next song
Kanami has her pick in her mouth at the beginning.
i recomend start over
Apparently some BM fans are ambivalent about this incredibly beautiful, heartfelt song. Guess it takes all kinds, but...welll....weirdos. Lovely reaction, Bob.
Thanks Neil! This one was awesome beginning to end.
Looks like my back yard
😁
Bring back the beard
😂 I've never heard of this band. But now I'm wondering if you'll rave about absolutely any song. 😅 This sounds like a bland generic pop song that anyone could get made at a company that will give you a song and music video like Rebecca Black did back in the day. But maybe I need to hear rock from this pre-fab K-Pop band so I'll understand the love?
Two things. First, they are Japanese, not Korean. Second, you DO need to hear these ladies rock.
Not liking this is fine but comparing it to Rebecca Black is just trolling.
Not sure.
Anyway, if you want to talk about a subject, be sure to know a bit more about it before throwing random comments like this one. Especially if you want to be taken seriously
Don't let this guy get to you, maidiacs...he is just a troll. He is the type that would trash his own mother...Anyway...Band Maid, Rock On.....
BAND-MAID's 2nd love letter to their fans. Remember, BAND-MAID is basically a jazz band playing hard rock.
Good comment cause I thought I heard shades of that in their music.
@@bobcieslinski Listen to the MV for Start Over (Caution: Saiki drops the F-bomb in that one.), it is pure jazz, with Kanami on piano and guitar.
Very good and great analysis of the band I love!❤👍 If you love memorable listen to their song daydreaming, anemone or awkward! Enjoy and looking forward to your reactions!😉💯🤘💥
Thanks so much and I’ll check it out.
Kanami's lead is incredible...you can hear shades of her two guitar idols, Larry Carlton and Santana.
Those are two of the best. Wow no wonder she is amazing.
@@bobcieslinski ...of course, she was also a fan of Eddy Van Halen. Now, maybe a few lessons from Pat Metheny are in order for her. 🙂
@@ShikataGaNai100 that would cover most of the legends.
BTW, looks like Kanami taught Miku all about palm muting on an acoustic.
No surprise these ladies just seem like a close group.
@@bobcieslinski J-Girl bands like BAND-MAID, SCANDAL, Stereopony, Silent Siren, Babymetal, etc., are more like sisterhoods than band-mates. In BAND-MAID's case, they have all been friends for over 10 years. In SCANDAL's case, almost 20 years. Sadly, Stereopony and Silent Siren have disbanded.
