When l saw them at the Echoplex in LA on September 30th. Miku spoke 90% English throughout all magic time. And responses from Akane (l am half human!) and Saiki were also in English. I know the accent takes some getting used to Miku has progressively spoken more and more English with each trip to the US and beyond.
Hey give them a break. English is not their 1st language. English was only recently into primary education. Over 99% don’t speak English. It’s the bureaucrats fault not theirs. If the population doesn’t travel,they don’t have a need to learn/practice. These women have only recently travelled to play music. They communicate musically. That’s what counts.Appreciate that for what’s it’s worth. It’s worth a hell of a lot. Their alternative mix of genres is unique and with further exposure will flow through to greater numbers understanding and appreciating the quality and talent of their musicianship. Easily in the top 1% of All bands. See the live shows in the Domination tour in 2018 and Feb 14th performance this year (2020). Brilliant in every way. Sound,lighting,production. Superbly edited and shot. Onset,Domination,Dice,Freedom and so many more...magnificent.
Japanese schools don't really do spoken practical exercise's, only written and reading lessons so no one every really improves. Most the teachers speak english quit badly to compound things, and most older generation japanese never learnt any english at all...

I appreciate maybe it's a matter of retaining their culture but it fails younger generations so badly in particular. 1 of the few nations where millennials can't communicate so their ability to travel or work internationally in western developed countries is challenged. It's a pity more western English teachers don't educate students but now we know how that's a limitation (COVID). There's also the fact that if the language is not continually spoken, the ability to communicate is lost as well. There are very few westerners in the country compared to other multicultural nations.
@@silversamme Chris Broad (abroad in Japan) does a very good video, he was a English teacher in Japan. So witnessed the failings first hand, the text books are usually badly written as well. South Korea has gone completely the over way, English and other langauges are taught to much better levels.

Well, this made me cringe big time but it also made me respect them more. They must know better how bad their english is and yet they stood up there trying to make small talk with the audience as awkward as it may have been. Forget about artists who have a certain image to maintain but even being just my normal self If I had to stand infront of a crowd who can neither understand my language nor I theirs, I'd have long dug a sneaky little hole by the corner and dived in like my life depended on it... And if somehow the Rock gods go crazy and I end up in their shoes, I'd simply shred my piece, give em a show and walk off looking all cool and aloof....ofcourse to save myself the embarrassment... Jokes aside, the way they were nonchalantly chatting amidst all that awkwardness goes to show these ladies definitely have Hard Rock balls....almost made me question my manhood.. But seriously they seem pretty tight not just musically but as a band as well, they are probably great friends too Im really starting to dig this band and quite thoroughly if I may add, right up there next to One Ok Rock who have been my go to for a few years now The international music scene is definitely getting livelier as of late with kpop groups like BTS and Blackpink bringing new colours to pop whereas the rock revolution seems to be starting anew in Japan with great bands coming up one after the other Other than OOR and band maid, some other good ones I've discovered are Coldrain, Spyair, Ma with a Mission, Rookiez is Punk'd, Back on and Uverworld Funny thing is, back then elctronic effects and thumpy bass drops felt like the most beautiful thing I had ever heard and ofcourse I got into it like the last thing I'd do for the rest of my life But who knew that in just a decade the beauty I swore my life with has turned into an obssessive stalker that follows me everywhere and the one I thought I left behind for good has dissappeared into thin air Fortunately for me, I happened to bump right into her on a certain island to the east thanks to my straw hat wearing friend who has been sailing around for some so-called treasure trove left behind by some deceased pirate king apparently....oh well my wacky buddy aside, Im just glad that I can hear her sweet strummings again ;) ah! she is beautiful indeed Hmm now why does this feel familiar?....

Why do you believe it's fake? Kanami's crush on Saiki isn't a secret. They are quite unusual in the little gaps between songs, and do seem more like five friends just having a bit of fun than a professional band. You don't see the same stuff each night.

As a musician, I realize that when a band tours on the road, that band is a family. They form a bond with one another. Kanami can put Eddie Van Halen to shame.
