After you do "Secret Maiko Lips" I would recommend the only original Band-Maiko song, "Gion Cho", an excellent song!
Band-Maid is my #1 rock band of all time, and Secret My Lips is their second best song imho. That means that Secret My Lips is almost the best rock song ever written and composed.
This is not live. It's live footage with audio from the album version.
The Secret's out -- Band-Maid is an influential, trendsetting, major force in the music scene! Their huge Yokohama Arena concert on Nov. 26, 2023 was a spectacular 10-year celebration and launch party to the next 10 years of Maid Domination. Thx, RC!
I saw quite a few B-M shows live in the 2000-teens (and more recently too, actually) and this was one. Jan. 9, 2017 at Akasaka Blitz-just preceding release of the album "Just Bring It". They debuted "Secret My Lips" here. In their club days Saiki would sometimes tease or mess with the crowd, and she did it here too-at one point she said what would translate to English as, "Yo Akasaka, think you can keep up with us?" We did, just barely.
Next time, it's finally BAND-MAIKO "Secret MAIKO Lips." looking forward to it. (Google translation. Sorry.)
Everything you said RC was correct. At least for me it is. The diversity and uniqueness yet familiarity that keeps me listening to their music over and over and over again without getting tired. They currently are my only "go to" rock band. They just produce Awesome feel good music at all times. For more classic BAND-MAID check out MV's for RINNE and YOLO. Peace. 1.39

Love it, love it, just love it. From the cool riffs in the beginning to the nostalgic ending. One of my favorite. Listen to the combination of different bass drum patterns at the beginning! So unique, on point and effective. She's genius. I totally understand why Jimmy Page visited backstage to greet her. She has her own distinctive groovy sound, which is awesome. Thanks for sharing!

You have unlocked The Secret! And if you're doing 'Secret Maiko Lips' then you have to do 'Gion-Cho' as well. It's a rule! Enjoy the greatest two year April Fool's Day joke of all time! If you're really into them there's also a Making Of 'Gion-Cho' video as well. You can see they really put a lot of effort into this joke.
There is also a Band Maiko MV for an original song called Gion Cho. If you happen to be able to get access to the 2017 Shinkiba Studio Coast concert there is a stonking live version of Secret My Lips, it's the penultimate song.
The video is labeled as "Official Music Video"! First few times I saw this I also thought it was supposed to be live.The audio is the studio track. The pictures is from the 2017 pre release concert for the album Just Bring It. The whole concert was recorded, but I read that technical problems rendered most of the footage unusable.Too bad. The usable footage that was released had a little extra zip to their performance.
This song has been non-stop in my CD on. My drive two in front work for at least a year now
After you check out Secret Maiko Lips, Ohrenje, the guy who did the Band-Maid documentary, just put out a breakdown video of the final show at Yokohama of the 10 year anniversary tour. And just like the doc, it's excellent!
Still one of my favourite all time tracks by them, it's magnificent!
Good comments about the various elements of B-M -- the consistent level of songwriting; uniqueness (yet something a little different each time); excellence at each position, and no one stepping on toes (like your point about Akane); etc. I think you'll get a big kick out of Secret Maiko Lips -- it shows up how incredible an orchestrator Kanami is. I mean, sure, why not write in another layer of traditional instruments!
