Wow!!! What a great site and what a bloody rippa!!! Love listening to your accent mate! Great finds and a great video. But I have to say to share that with yours sons is Priceless as you have said and as you already know. I have only been hunting for a little over a year, (mostly on my 1/2hr lunch breaks) but I love the hobby and am super hopeful to find a site as rich in history as that soon. I’ve found mostly clad coins only 3 silvers, and nothing of great value, or rich in history. Keep up the videos and be Blessed Mate!!

G'day Luke, In regard to what you call musket balls in your videos. Muskets (while they do load from the muzzle) generally have a fairly large smooth bore and muzzle loading rifles have rifling inside the barrels. Most of what I've seen you find in your videos I would call muzzleloader balls which are also a pure soft lead ball but smaller in size generally .375" to .50" and usually with a small flat on one side where the sprue has been cut off after being cast in a mold. Many people still cast and shoot these balls from modern made working flintlock and percussion cap black powder replicas (of old) firearms today, both rifles and pistols, myself included. The ring mark on the what looks like a .45" or .50" muzzleloader ball you found in this video looks to me like the mark that the ramrod has left on the ball when it was loaded. The ramrod has a brass cup shaped end on it that fits over the ball and when forcing it down the barrel onto the black powder it can sometimes leave a mark, particularly if the barrel of the rifle is dirty from many previous shots the ball can get a bit stuck in the barrel then the person loading it decides to slam the ramrod down on the ball a few times to get it to seat firmly down on the powder charge. HTH explain that ring mark, thanks for the nice video once again 👍

I agree @Mark Martini I find quite a few of the old engine valves hunting at parks, schools etc. I could understand if I found them at a farm near a shed or something...but strange to find them elsewhere! Awesome finds but your scratching the silver coins use a water spray bottle that way they won't get scratched by the dirt .

What is it with the valves? I have found about three, two on one hunt pushed into the ground on the edge of a sports ground? they do ring up well!

@gary miller I generally always run my iron bias low at 0-1. Helps open up the machine and not mask signals👍
