    After some frustating hours trying to fix mine I figured I had missed several crucial steps,thanks a lot for sharing.

    Top tip for visualising the contact point for the plate; stick a square of tape (insulating is good) behind the derailleur, then extend the bolt with your Allen key.
    This will leave a witness mark on the tape, and thats where you stick the plate.

      I did that with matt sellotape 😂

      Maybe I lost it, maybe not installed, but that plate isn't there. So this bolt needs to be tightened against it to have the outer part of the derailleur align just above the biggest front blade? The FD works but not very smoothly, might be because of this.

      @@willemrm4033 I just got a new bike and this plate was missing. However it seems to screw onto the loading fitting and doesn’t actually touch the carbon frame, same in this video. Do you think the plate is necessary ?

    • @willemrm4033
      @willemrm4033 2 місяці тому

      @@mitchymenis Yes, I think mine does too, but have to check it out by complete removing the FD. Have not done that yet as i have three other bikes and this one is not intended for the rainy weather we're having past weeks. Just repositioned it a bit a few weeks ago as it wasn't parallel, so probably i just had to tighten that screw a bit more, as according to the uploader it has something to do with keeping the cage parallel, not putting it more forward as i first thought.. So i guess if the frame gets or is protected somehow it's alright.

    My Canyon bike has just arrived setup and the front derailleur tension sticker isn't used (it's come in a little bag with the rest of bike tools for me to use if necessary I suppose). Does it need to be used or is it a bit superfluous? Surely the Canyon mechanics know what they are doing. The tension screw seems to contact the metal front derailleur hanger and not the carbon frame. Thanks and a great video btw!

    Hi there, thanks for making this useful guide. I have just got a new bike with 105 di2 and found the metal plate and cable guide in a bag.
    Did you have your front mech in the large or small chainring position when setting the gap to teeth? Maybe it doesn’t matter but I will adjust mine to the large chainring.
    I think with the 105 front mech it has 1 limit set screw and the other is done via shifters/eTube don’t know yet which is which.
    Wish the retailers or bike suppliers knew how to set these up before they screw them onto the bikes.
    Mine didn’t come with fitting guides for deailleurs nor shifters, just the battery guide.
    My bike is a Liv Avail adv pro 2 and I did wonder what all the spare bits were when unboxing it. Online purchase.

    My factory installation came shitty, the rear angle of the FD was too outwards and it was not letting the chain go freely. Now on the braze on derailleur it's sorta hard to adjust the FD angle, so here is the solution: Insert one allen key in the support bolt screw and one allen key on the adapter (With which you tighten and secure the FD), and work on them at the same time. Find an optimal height and without tightening the FD a lot (only 30%), find a support screw tightness depth that gives you an inwards angle of 10 degrees (wrt larger chainring). Then tighten the FD and see if it comes parallel automatically, if not then tighten the support screw further more and make it parallel the best you can.
    Do this all while the FD is in smaller chainring shift mode (Not in larger chainring mode). The FD goes out and up when it upshifts, so height is to set when it's in lower chainring mode.
    Also, take care that when you tighten the FD on main adapter it tends to move up and outwards, so adjust the angle accordingly in the first place.
    Set the high limit screw first and then the low limit via micro adjustments. If you set the low limit firtst then high limit may not work perfectly well.
    Thanks.

    Any advice on the r7150 di2 front derraileur? The microshift method gives a red blinking light.

    Can you do the micro adjustment in each trim position? As you shift through the cassette the FD trims automatically and one of my large chainring trim position rubs the cage…

    Awesome video. My bike shop didn't install the metal tab on the bracket!! Is the point of that to keep the screw from going into the frame? I'm kind of pissed off about that to be honest. I paid $5500 for this bike (BMC Roadmachine). Do you think there's a chance there is damage or should I just remove the derailleur and then install the tab?

    • @FreeToCycle
      @FreeToCycle  Рік тому

      Just remove the derailleur and fit the tab, shouldn’t be any damage if the bike isn’t very old!

      If the set screw goes into the braze-on mount itself and not the carbon frame then it's fine. Some are even designed for this.

  • @brianwendy727

    What seems to be the problem of my fd di2? It cannot bring my chain up to the big ring. It gets stucked. It can only get the chain go down the small ring.
