I did not even realize I played my first playthrough as Sonic in Easy difficulty. Which led to me actually beating Omegamon Alter B with my first gen Dynasmon and MetalSeadramon. Super satisfying to beat it before even your first gen dies. Not only that, but it was literally their last day. I beat the main story and two in-game hours later they died.
The new features are great. That sprint feature is such a time saver. Gaining Order Points in these ports is mind blowing. It is to fast and easy. However, the grind is still there. I went back to playing world 1 a bit since next order was just hours of battle grinding which took too much time. The grind is not as long in world 1. Looking forward to more world 1 videos.
Agreed and hate grinding and genociding and just want to have fun with thr digimon and bond with them?

Once you understand the mechanics this game is so easy all you need is the block skill find which spots to train at and boom easy mode even on hardm im playing on hard and smashing it to pieces after just 1 run through normal and learning didnt even do chapter 5 jumped straight to hard and it's not much different, 1st gen megas sakuyamon and metalseadramon 2nd gen im going for chaosmon dna digivolution, already at 2k stats on second day with them got gaomon and veemon going through leomon line to bancho and veemon to darkdramon gonna be doing a 100% playthrough 💪
I love the game, it was hard to beat my first time playing through... then I learned the grind spots and could consistently max my digimon every life and the game just became about messing around and having fun with how easy it was.
this game is amazingly fun. First time playing this type of games (my first digimon games were World Championship for the DS, and digimon digital savers for the PS2), so your starter guide really helped me a lot in early game. I did want to add tho, i am not sure of how much you gained in the original but the walker type hp heal with the run button seems to boost it. Not sure by how much but i saved myself some money doing that.

You know it's kinda funny to watch you gush over the run button, but as someone who's gone back to play Disgaea 2 after playing Disgaea 5 and realizing how few options the earlier game has for speeding up grinding I can definitely relate :)
These changes as well as the beginner difficulty made this game possible for me to stream. Because I plan to stream this game next month but I was thinking this game was just impossible to stream due to the time you spend doing the same things constantly. And as you said, 14 hours of the same stuff just to face the first big boss is just…not engaging and makes me worry its not worth streaming. But 4 hours? Beat the guy then end the stream and wait for next time? 100% better. So these changes are a freaking godsend. Especially if you stream like me and finish a game within 5 or 6 streams lasting 3 or 5 hours each before moving on to another game.
So I am so glad these changes were made. PS4 Next Order? Terrible to stream. Just from the running feature not existing. Its a complete game changer when you’re racing against the clock and every second counts.
It's a really fun game and one of those I wanted to play for a long time. I played DW1 back in the day on the old Sony Playstation and so it's really nice to finally have the sequel available on multiple platforms now. If you enjoyed the first game then you will most likely enjoy this one. There's a lot of quality-of-life improvements this game has over its predessessor too that make it stand out a lot more (i.e. Praising and scolding digimon rewards you with intel on evolution requirements for both 'mons etc). The battles are also really good. Being able to dash allows you to avoid battles and gets you to your destination faster. Digivolution also is very balanced. You can't just get your favourite digimon right off the bat either. You will have to upgrade the city and your training facilities in order to achieve those forms you want but that's the beauty of it. I would say to anyone just starting that you should enjoy the process (evolution and recruitment). Finally the music is really good too, a bunch of the tracks, especially the battle themes are amazing (as well as some familiar songs remixed from DW1). Overall, worth the purchase.
very intriguing review of the added features. Travel does take a long time in World games, especially in DMW3, but you know that already. DMW2 is perfect for playing on a emulator when you speed it up and its super straight forward. I can't wait to see if you became a good older brother to your Digimon Partner in DMW1, I remembered a quote from GTA2 that would perfectly fit in DMW1 "AND REMEMBER RESPECT IS EVERYTHING! "
I've been playing this game for 60 hours now, I think I'm a little addicted, and I'm finishing the end game now (I need to recruit some digimon, like the one you need to have bancho leomon, and the dimensional dungeon), this game is the most hype digimon game I ever played, I finish the first digimon world game 2 to 3 times, finished the psp version of re digitize, and did almost everything in re digitize decoded, I just need to finish some coliseum battles, but I got lazy.
The way that the game give you control over the battle compared with the other games is crazy, just for the fact that you can use defense order was a big step up on battling compared to the other games in the series, I was never so hype for some of the more intense battles in the late game like I was on this game, I could not even imagine the old way to win order points, I already think that in this version it's makes no sense at all, some time I feel like I did it perfectly, and I win no points, other times I feel like I miss it by a lot, and gain a lot of points.
when I find omegamon and alphamon in the post game, and both come at me at the same time and kicked my ass, even after activating ExE evolution, I understand how much this game is skill based, I got to then again with the same digimons on the same status just to beat then up playing better now, something like this was possible in decoded, but really, it was way easier and less fun to do (also, I was still using medium HP recover in this fight for some reason)
also, I'm not really in JPOP, but oh my god, the music that plays when you do the ExE evolution, it is just hype.
Another thing that I notice, and the internet seems to say the same thing, but I didn't really test it enough to say with 100% of certainty, is that digimon life is also shorten in the higher difficult, in easy mode, my digimon got to the 22 years old easy, and in normal, I manage to made then last evolution but they survive around 16-17 days, maybe if one day I do a hard mode playthrough, I will test to see (note that I never played on beginner or hard mode).
Now I have MyBoy Tyrannomon with 8,5k in every status that just digivolved, and 34k HP/MP, that I will digivolve in gallantomon or rustytyrannomon (still didn't decide) and MyGirl, a Garurumon with 9k in every status and 34k HP/MP that will turn in the bancho leomon for the quest, I think I will kick the ass of everything at this point, but it was a fun game, would recommend for every digimon fan out there
The rebalancing they did for the PS4 version really ended up making the game way more grindy and time consuming than any other game in World format that came before. Understandable since you could completely break the game in your first gen with the battle grinding in that version, but I'm still surprised they completely scrapped it.
It could work way better as a beginner mode since the difficulty curve was much closer to Decode. Just call it "Original Mode" or whatever and put it back on the game.

I think they altered the chance to learn moves too. I recall the first time I learned Gigawatt Laser and thought "If I had got this from the first Machindramon fight, this would be a whole new game". All my new games, I would reset if I didn't get that move and do the fight over. On this switch version, I got it the first shot...granted I've only done that fight once so far so it could just be my bias.
Im someone who invested 200+ hours into the ps4 version and I've accomplished just as much with my first gen of digimon in the switch version because of the new features. The game is so much more enjoyable now IMO

Downloaded this game on steam 3days ago and havent left the screen since. Super addictive loop for me for some reason. None of the other games got me off Netflix until this one

I have been a digimon fan since the beginning but have played almost no games, this is my first game and I won't lie. I installed a cheat engine I want to experience the game and the story but with an adult life I don't have the time to pour hours into grinding anymore. Overall I am enjoying the band still and I still get excited when my digimon evolve
What kind of cheats are you using? More EXP or something?

I was planning to get this for the switch due the run feature - which (even though I never played this game) sounded great since it "eases up the grind" as I kept reading. ...But in the end I ended up buying this on PS4 instead because it was on sale for 9.95€ ...At that point I decided that I simply was NOT gonna pay for extra ~40-50 for simply being able to run.
So far I've only beaten chapter 1 on easy in about 15 hours. (...what? I like to take my time exploring and monster raising is fun lol) And so far I can definitely say I would have liked the run feature ...buuuut at the same time it (at least yet) also doesn't feel like it alone would have been worth that extra money.
Again, part of it is likely that I like to take things slow, at my own pace, but I just find the monster raising aspect fun while I don't care about the story at all in all honesty. Thus I grinded myself HerculesKabuterimon and Rosemon before beeating the Chapter 1 Machinedramon both with 2k stats, and even so it still took two tries because his special move still more or less instakilled me. On the second try my mons ended up running around him and thus he missed both of 'em, thus I was able to clap him down in about 30 sec lol.
But yeah, so far liking the experience for sure.
Don't see myself ever getting the Switch Version now though. Well, unless it goes to a big sale, at which point both the sprinting to places/from battles I don't want combined with being able to play wherever I want will probably be good enough of a deal to start anew.
But for now? No, sir.
Smart man. First time playing and with a mindset like that, it's playable w/o the run. If you ever thought about replaying though...it’s tough. Especially now that I've experienced what it's like to run lol

I am honestly surprised you'd go as far as to say this game is one you wouldn't recommend. I guess I'm just familiar with these genre of games to where it feels natural.
Its crazy how straightforward these games feel when you understand them. But for someone fresh, its a challenge. Without an actual interest, the hurdle might be too much and I'd rather they have a good experience vs bad

Go to Jijimon's house, and I believe its in the top left corner, theres a machine you press. Look for some type of gift opton...I can't remember specifics but you have to redeem them

my first playthrough was on hard mode or something and i needed 20+ hours REALTIME to beat machinedramon that was last year i had over 15+ child digimon and after i beat him the game was easy as hell my digiomon was so broken that i even beat this hidden boss dunno whats his name

There's an item that can extend your partner's lifespan, you can get them daily by the time you are in the postgame if I am not mistaken (Ex dungeon)

And the Digimon World games are now V-Pet simulator from now on.
Digimon Story are the Turn-Based RPG system.
I play games like Monster Rancher which also had a lifespan for Monsters and you use your time wisely to build the strongest version of it possible.
It’s fun for people who love this type of gameplay. And I love this.
Also, Digimon have another good games like Rumble Arena and Digital Card Battle.
