- There was a long period of time for the Digimon franchise where a lot of its games either weren't all that great or they weren't newcomer friendly, and sometimes they were both things at once. This started to change a bit however after the release of Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth, one of the series greatest games.

You're damn straight it is! It revived my love for video game stories when Pokémon sword and shield clocked me over the head and stole my wallet. It was because of this game that I seriously became a Digimon fan.
One thing I love about this game is the fact it remains open while the Switch is in sleep mode, so I have like 30k hours on this game just because I don't close games I'm currently going through

I got into Digimon BC cyber seluth, now buy next order and survive even though not have time to play yet
Once I got my lite and saw that this was available, I jumped at ordering a copy. Always loved Digimon but never had a PS nor DS. Loved just about every moment of the main game and HM. Easily my favorite in my library!
My only real gripe was that there was no manual or tutorial that explains how to actually go about evolving your team. That was a headache and a half to learn.
Arata and Nokia were some of my favorite side characters with their takes on the try-hard edgelord and naive optimist.

One thing that got glossed over is the status effect DOT. While it's annoying to be inflicted by it unless it's the DLC or Complete edition sets of actual Dot Mega's, it's a nice touch from the artist and development team to make sprite work for every single digimon in the game to match their original tamagatchi days
After over 20 years Digimon is still my favorite Franchise ❤

You play this game and realize Pokemon has been stale for too long
It's been stale since Gen 6. ORAS was the last good pokemon game they made. Everything else afterward was lazy and pure cashgrab.
These games made me accept japanese dubbing over english. The comedy still hits along with the other emotions❤

I feel like the should go back to have the protagonist be its own character. This used to be the standard for Digimon games and seeing after seeing Takuma in Digimon Survive it just made me want that more.
I feel like they might have gone with the silent protagonist to make it easier on the writing no matter which gender the player choses, but the first Story game still had it with no problems. There are still a few different lines depending on your choice in Cyber Sleuth too.

Honestly, with me now being 16 hours into Hackers Memory at the time of typing this, I definitely agree. While I like keisuke a lot more than ami, I don't think silent protagonists totally work for these games.
Also, I actually have seen that artwork, but I legitimately didn't notice she was doing that until you pointed it out, lol!
The Digimon anime been know for their character interactions and development, the games have been doing this pretty well too, so it does feel weird to let the main character out of those.
Honestly the switch version having the farm continue counting while in suspend/sleep mode is such a boon once you're in the post game completion. Clearing out any unobatined digimon for the digidex and max raising digimon more digimon at a time than only whats in the party at a more reasonable pace over a few days.

Same here, I adored Cybersleuth. Really bonded with my mons and appreciated each and every one throughout the story. Really enjoyed the OST too.
Im ngl, Survive is on sale rn fr 15 bucks...and idc what ppl say im REALLY enjoying it, super invested...yeah the combat isnt anything special...but the Visual novel aspect of it is really good...im someone who just beat DQ11 and the new DQ Monsters then went to buy Hogwarts Legacy and Unicorn Overlord...I must be a bit burnt out from the DQ games cause im really enjoying the light gameplay Survive has ...its basicaly an interactive story or anime...today I also got the Sleuth Complete edition for 9.99...i just couldnt pass that up...i'll hold off on it but im so excited even tho i played it once before. Basically if you want more monster trainer rpg go to the Sleuth games but dont knock Survive, if you want to relax and lightly play a good story, as its basically an interactive visual novel with some basic srpg battles, try out Survive, ppl bashing that game just wanted more gameplay and less interactive novel, and i get it, if i wasnt burnt out from playing games and looking for something meaty in terms of gameplay id be like wtf, but rn im HOOKED into the story. I've enjoy Phoenix Wright games, and this is similar. Yk I always complain that games dont focus on stories, so maybe i'll try more Visual Novel type games as their main focus is story.
Hagurumon is an easy way into PlatinumSukamon which will massively speed up training so that’s a good reason to pick him if I remember my digivolutions correctly.
God I can’t wait for a new Digimon game. I still have to play Survive too.

This just randomly popped up on my recommended and I can only guess it's because of the fact that I've been watching a whole bunch of digimon stuff....... Yep has to be the reason lol. I finally beat my original copy of cyber sleuth from a couple of years ago and while my issues with the game came from the fact that running back and forth to Mirei just to digivole my digimon was a bit annoying and I wish it took a page from the DS games where you could do that on command and for some reason, my PS4 controllers keep making my character walk when I am trying to make him run, I still genuinely love this game from the fact that I enjoyed the story a whole lot, The main cast I still remember them and it especially helps because I love the character designs since I play devil survivor 1 and 2, with Nokia giving me hardcore Yuzu vibes and Arata gving me Devil survivor 2 MC vibes. In the end still a solid game even after all these years later and yes I agree the way for a digimon story a new one is really really painful but considering that the guy who was originally a part of the projects is gone and we did hear that they have it I think 80% done, It's just waiting for more information and a trailer that's becoming more and more of a problem lol. Still great review!

I want to try when it first release in ps vita but too expensive for me when 14 and my parents say no, have a chance to play when it got port to pc with complete edition and i got into Digimon since there, never expect Digimon game will have great story but not just story good gameplay is very fun to play
i also think the card game is really underrated too but i suggest anyone with a mild interest or nostalgia for digimon to try both of these
Honestly, I've wanted to try the card game myself, but sadly, I don't have anyone to play it with. I really wish Bandai would make an app for it, like what yugioh or magic the gathering has, honestly.
Interesting you love most of the character designs because I couldn't disagree more since the only two designs I'm actually a fan of are Matayoshi and Date. Everything else is just weirdly skin tight, has super wacky lenghts, be it hair, jackets, pants or skirts, or has extremely jarring color schemes with super flashy colors which are clashing way too much.
Other than that its pretty on point though. Playing Hacker's Memory and Cyber Sleuth at the same time has really made me miss the Acceleration hacking skill while playing Cyber Sleuth though. It makes the game feel much slower without it.
Honestly, that's pretty fair. I totally get why the character designs might not be someone's cup of tea, and yeah, I agree completely on acceleration.
Frankley, I dont know how I'm going to go back to Cyber Sleuth having played Hackers Memory, lol.
I really do appreciate this video but it did make me realize I'll probably never give this game a chance it's just not my cup of tea but I do love Digimon

This game is amazing. I found it on steam and have 300 hours of game play in 3 months lol. I didn't just get hooked. I was absorbed

I'd recommend either gluttony or greed. Neither are too bad at all, especially greed, who was shockingly easy for me.
One of the things I love about this Game is EDEN. You could say it takes inspiration from 0Z in summer wars. Which was directed by Mamoru Hosoda. Who was the director of Digimon: Our war game. Which both films have similar things. Kinda nice it all comes full circle like that.
Uhh...I don't like the character designs / visuals...why do all characters have to be so "wobbly" these days? It would have been better if the characters were static during the dialogue scenes because the "movement" together with the sexualized outfits looks very cringey...I vastly prefer the style of the Persona characters.
Loved the game when I first came out. Was really hoping for an English dubbed cast when they released the Complete Edition. At least Next Order was dubbed 😊
I yesterday startet playing this game, i was realy surprised how good this is.
I dont like Digimon World next order, but hackers memories are very different.
Has realy much from the DS Games, i like it.
Some things i dont like. Like the quest how do get a GF, realy dumb but anyway the Game is at today one of my top Digimon Games or RPG Games of all the Time.

Overall it is enjoyable game but the localization doesn't help the game reach audience. For example when there's multiple choices to select the first choice text can overwrite rest of the choices text.
I have the platinum for this game. That said, I think digimon world 1 & 3 were better games. They had a lot more charm. A lot of these new digimon games feel kinda sterile.
I'll have to take your word for it since I've never actually played either of them.
Honestly, I've really wanted to, but outside of emulation, i haven't had a good way of doing so. I wish they would give the original world games the monster rancher 1+2 DX treatment and ported them to modern consoles.

The evolution system was fun but the game felt really meh to me. The writing felt dry, the pacing was really hard to get through for me until the last few chapters. I was sorely disappointed in my expectations. This was my first Digimon game and after growing up with the cartoon, I was expecting the digimon to hold more relevance. If you swapped digimon with Persona monsters almost not a darn thing would change in my opinion. The focus is almost entirely on the humans and our world and less on the bonds between humans and Digimon like the show. I greatly appreciated Survive much more because it was more like how the show worked.
theyre good digimon games but at the same time feels like not a digimon game compared to all the other digimon games probably cuz the story is not focus on the digimons themselves or something like that or.. its the story itself😅🤣
I think getting Hagurumon as a starter gives you an advantage in getting a Platisukamon and eventually Platinumemon earlier to help with grinding.
Cheat to beat the regular eaters easily early on, use Gatomon/BlackGatomon. Lighting paw does a flat 150 damage every time. Super easy way to take out the high defense but low hp eaters. Of course, having both of them is very good for, reasons.

My favourite digimon game. My only criticism would be that the environments are a bit boring, and hasnt got much variety.
Plus the second episode was a bit boring storywise too and changed too little with the places.

Tbh i remember the quest in chapter 8 wehre we helped the occult club with a ritual which ended up stranding us in ghost Tokyo but they eneded it with these weird implication that something happened with their leader yet nonof the main nor sub quest explored it?
If you didn't know, Hacker's Memory actually does more stuff with the club!
Okay so I need help, huge fan of the show almost every series. But I’m stuck on which game to get between Cyber sleuth, Next Order, and Survive. What should I get being newer to the digimon games?
If you're not into visual novels, I'd start with cybersleuth. Next order is fun but there's a decent learning curve to the game, and cybersleuth is comparatively much easier to get into.

This was actually my first digimon game. Before this I only ever watched the anime since I found Digimon's game line up to be rather..random due to how it felt like they couldn't stick to one genre most of the time. It's honestly fascinating to me how separate the digimon games are from the anime to the point they almost feel like 2 separate properties.
Hey if you ever want to relax and try a Visual Novel type game, try Digimon Survive, its meaty on the story but light on the game play, fr dont knock it just cause its main gameplay is like an interactive story...rn im burnt from playing Dragon quest games, so playing Survive where mainly you're just watching a story unfold and doing little actions and little srpg battles is sucha great change of pace.
I've thought about trying survive but I've never been a fan tactical rpgs so I don't know if this is the game that'd get me into the genre.

@@alz397 I've only played them on the switch so i cannot recommend anything but that..the Cyberslueth games are great and Survive is a nice change of pace...i think they have it for ps4 but i never played it on there (CyberSlueth)
Ive got fond memories cyber sleuth and hackers memory beating it 3 in morning.
I prefer cyber sleuth hm then next world order as I just can't understand the mechanic

Digimon Survive was utter garbage.
And this is coming from someone that has Digimon as their favorite series and SRPGs as their favorite genre.
Wanna elaborate as to why you think it’s garbage? I was seeing it on sale and wanted to try out a visual novel.
@@alz397 Some of my complaints are:
- The story is incredibly slow
- there’s far too much VN sections, not nearly enough SRPG sections
- a laughably small amount of Digimon
- game is way too easy
- gameplay is atrociously basic. There’s SRPGs back from the 90s with far more depth than this one.
- half the cast is unlikable and annoying
There’s good things too tho like the music and collecting some of your favorite Digimon, but overall, yeah it’s a 4/10 game at best.
i dont really enjoy the game bcoz of the talking too much cant skip it..and not many digimon..all i want is milleniumon..
