    This was extremely helpful. I’ve been struggling trying to edit GoPro footage that’s shot in Flat Color with White Balance set to Native. It seems like most tutorials I’ve watched make color magically appear, but your video made it very clear how to get color to show up. I’ve also been scared to raise the saturation up very high but it looks like that’s what I have to do for Native WB footage.

    • @JamieFenn

      when raising saturation just make sure to keep an eye on your vector scope!

    Jamie - 7-month user of DaVinci Resolve here. Awesome...really awesome video. It was easy to follow (atleast for me), and the examples were kickass. Your final edit for this video was FANTASTIC!! 🙏🏽
    3 notes:
    1) I’ve accidentally added saturation in a node that wasn’t the “saturation node” in the tree, but it never occurred to me to add a 2nd node for saturation on purpose. THANK YOU!!!
    2) at 21:51, try Alt + D instead of selecting all nodes and Shift + D. 😳
    3) I export images from the Color tab with a right-click on the image.

    ive been asking blackmagic for ages to add some basic stills asset management for rating and some dedicated tools for editing stills. If you are editing 500 images you need to be able to crop or do local adjustments in less clicks for example. All the tools are already in there. Im sure they will add a dedicated stills page sooner or later. Important to know is that the max export resolution is 4K for the free version. I got the full version just to export stills at full resolution. Keep up the great tutorials!

    • @MultiMam12345

      Jamie Fenn It would be way more easier to add a few still friendly features. Davinci was originally just a color grading tool. And now its a Color Grading, NLE, Audio DAW with Fairlight and Compositing app with Fusion all in one app. Good times:)

    • @JamieFenn

    • @MultiMam12345
      @MultiMam12345 5 років тому +2

      Jamie Fenn Dont think because their market is film. And they dont need to because all the tools are already in there. With a few tiny tweaks they could easily compete with Lightroom, the same way they compete with Premiere. And LR has just as much frustrated users😎 Not everyone uses the fairlight or fusion page and you can currently already show or hide all the panels.

    Editing photos in DR, what a cool idea! Each tool has its purpose. I really like using Photoshop for some things, but now I'm more at home with the DR Color page for color grading and general touch-up work for video images. I too would like to see more of these types of videos about editing photos in DR.
    It would be interesting to create a video to apply this idea to post-producing an audio project (without video) using the Fairlight page. Maybe videos like this already exist but I haven't found one yet.
    Thanks for your knowledge to help uncover the versatility of DR; there's so much to learn. I'll stay tuned.

    I'm in awe of your imagination and creativity of these edits. Lovely job. My question is, how do you know what to do? How do you know what color aspect to adjust for a good photo in the settings? How do you know where to go? For example, in 6:40 you said the first thing you want to do is look at the Waveform. Why? What kind of things does that tell you what you need to adjust in the photo? Hi! Great video! Thank you! two questions. Is it possible to edit vertical photos? And how do you place your color wheel panel next to the qualifier? Thank you! :)

      @JamieFenn  4 роки тому

      Yes just change project resolution to what you want. Not sure about your second question? I have a bigger screen so the layout could be different for you if youre on a smaller laptop screen,

    I noticed in the first photo, you clicked on node 4 but didn't do anything. Is that because you normally do a certain procedure but it didn't need to be executed on that photo? On the second photo, you graded but then added a LUT after. I understand you had to fix contrast, saturation, etc., but why do a white balance and skin tones if you're going to change it all with a LUT? Thanks for the tutorial BTW!

    Hi, I have a question. My laptop is Asus k556U core i7 but I have a problem when I am editing my videos in resolve davinchi. Especially when my videos are 4k. While I am editing, davinchi closes suddenly or sometimes stops completely. My question is if I change my hard disc from HDD to SSD can be useful? Do you have any suggestion to improve and solve this issue?
