@cubedimensions I was about to ramble about my thoughts knowing that now (I need to see if I have add I fo it too much lol) since I just remembered it as simply as curseforge keeping a fake on the site, but with that into that just sounds like a extremely desperate move for a site that's already as huge as theirs just to get more off of someone's work when they are within reason to just leave and not be related to the site at all. It wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't for curseforge having good search optimization (I think that's what it's called) and leaving no mod page description on cf or anything for them to get their name out for their modrinth page. LazyDFU and Starlight are redundant in 1.20 and newer. Also, dont forget about ModernFix, its _the_ most important RAM and loading speed optimization mod! I personally also recommend ImmediatelyFast for more fps
@@commander3494Starlight (unless you’re on the newest versions as it’s not been updated) still gives a minor performance increase. I recommend also having Enhanced Block Entities, Entity Culling, and Krypton

My only issue with Sodium and it's forge forks is Fabric is a lot more tailored to newer versions from what I can tell so my 1.12.2 installation requires Optifine and Betterfps

Did a really good job on the video. Explaining it clearly and seams to have a pretty good script. The only point i would give out is the editing is really spastic, i feel like i cant focus on whats being shown as its only on screen for only a few seconds. You don't need to put up a image of what something is every time you say it. for example here at 1:50, what was the point in zooming on on something twice? I would've just shown the website page and not the url, it completes the task and makes it a lot less cluttered. Again really enjoyed the video and keep up the good work.
I specialize in short-form content and that's why my videos come off as that, people have such low attention spans I edit videos and cram information into these periods of time for that reason, hopefully I'll learn how to extend videos and get people to still watch most of it or all the way through
People downloading optifine wouldn't be able to earn money unless curseforge accepts their mod and people start downloading the mod from curseforge, which is very unlikely to happen.
Correction: the people re-uploading Optifine to Curseforge don't get money for that. The page usually gets taken down in no time, and you only get money from people visiting the page and downloading the mod(or downloading it via the CurseForge launcher). Since it's not avaible to download, it doesn't generate points/money. These reuploads that happen each released optifine version are probably just kids not understanding copyright, getting their curseforge account banned. The only side effect is that incorrect name/icon/owner in the mods list for people that put in optifine(probably something that Curseforge will fix sooner or later, so deleted mods don't show up anymore).
@@tr7zw when you update a modpack it can automatically update to the latest mods, what I am afraid of is the project author having the ability to change the optifine jar if you accidently hit update or update all to something else

oh so you get paid for uploading mods to modrinth and curseforge? that explains a lot about sodium and all of its forks... (and all those people that take advantage of these "optimizers")
Correct. And it appears that the people who are uploading optifine (there isn't even a project page) may even be getting paid whenever someone hits play on the modpack they added it to. The OptiFine creator has every right to do what he's doing but it does mean CurseForge and random people are getting paid when his mod is being used with modpacks if I am correct.
I've never heard of the term "optimizers", and all forks change the code of the original, that's the definition of a fork, you're acting like forking sodium is a money generator, they put in the work to make the mod better, idk what you're on about man,
@@nikt-wazny It's possible just to make a fork, spend an hour or two to make some slight changes, then upload it to curseforge and trick people to putting it in their modpack to make some extra cash on the side
Correction: sodium is officially compatible with forge and neo forge, you can compile that version from their github as long as the branch ends with "-multiloader". Embeddium and Rubidium are "hostile" forks so you shouldn't really use them. Hopefully the guys at sodium make it easier to use their multiloader versions soon though.
Embeddium and Rubidium aren't really hostile forks. JellySquid decided that developing for Forge was not worth it for personal reasons and thus they decided not to provide an official Forge version; their FAQ claims they do not endorse any Forge ports because they want to keep the "quality" of their brand, and they provided etiquette guidelines for forkers that both Embeddium and Rubidium follow. I am not sure about the story of Rubidium, but Embeddium has contributed back to Sodium with bugfixes and some features. What's more: as of April 6th, Sodium is no longer free software, but the Embeddium developer granted permission to Sodium to relicense the code they submitted to the Sodium repository as pull requests. The Embeddium developer has stated that they'd rather give that code away and continue developing Embeddium on their own. Basically, more drama in the Minecraft modding scene, but these forks did nothing wrong.
Sorry about that! I assumed Sodium barely or doesn't work with Forge at all because of all the optifine forge tutorials I saw and how none of the modpacks had sodium in it
@@neirenoir I can't entirely blame Sodium for wanting to no longer be free software, they still likely very bitter regarding the CurseForge plagiarism incident, and the fact CurseForge allowed for people to reupload their mods after what may have been a manual ban, causing that mess of last year.
@meeprdib I mean, the textbook definition of "hostile fork" is what happened with Neoforge (and I would argue they were in the right, but it still counts as "hostile" no matter how justified), but that was not the case with Embeddium. You could argue it could be an "impolite fork" if you fork software for the heck of it without first offering the patch to upstream of possible, but JellySquid was ideologically opposed against having a Forge version, so a Forge port like Embeddium was the only logical thing to do in libre software land, and if they didn't want people forking the project even for very legitimate reasons to fork because you will not accept a PR like that, they could have kept the code ARR. Heck, Embeddium submitted patches to upstream Sodium and even kept the Sodium donation button: it's the Platonic idea of a friendly fork, so it's weird to see people throwing Embeddium under the bus for doing the exact thing libre software is meant to do. If you want to impose restrictions on usage or forks, there is nothing wrong with using ARR licenses.

As others have said, I understand the shorter attention spans of the tiktok generation but pleeassseee slow it down for a second or two longer when we need to take in critical information. The FPS counts are a perfect example, the numbers inherently jump around a lot, so by the time we average out the FPS in our heads (after only getting 2 or 3 FPS counts per test), we're already moving onto the next test, and I can barely process what the current circumstances of the new test even are, and then I have to mentally rush to take in the next set of FPS data. And this is coming from someone with ADHD. Tiktok kids aren't the only Minecraft audience. Us early to mid Gen Z'ers that grew up with Alpha, Beta and Early Release Minecraft are still around, and it's jarring to watch it man. Audience retention naturally drops after the first 30 - 60 seconds, and I wouldn't be surprised if the editing worsens it by alienating a portion of the audience that'd be willing to stay for most of the video. For every complaint made you see in a comment about it, there's gonna be dozens more thinking the same that'll leave without commenting. Take this as constructive criticism and not an attack, I think your videos and channel will genuinely benefit by taking the audience feedback.
I don't take offense to this, what I truly get offended at is when I make a video that's 10 minutes long and see something like an average 2 minute watch time. For every long-form on this channel I am probably making 5 short-form videos designed for people who can't even stay for 3 seconds. In general I want to make my videos longer because I know the algorithm loves longer videos but they only love longer videos that people are willing to watch the full way through. Hopefully I learn how to do his over time. In general any video you see of mine that's 10k-20k+ views is at around almost an exact 50% watch retention or higher.
It hurts when I make videos that are more than 4 minutes and I see people only are willing to stay for 2 minutes on average, so my fast speaking comes from it.
For another video, you could make a video about how Hypixel skyblock QOL mods are basically cheating on the extreme end (not critizicing the modded hypixel community, i definitely enjoy it too)
I haven't been on Hypixel in years, however I had some ideas for Hypixel videos in mind, one on IRL trading, one on ridiculous bans Hypixel has done on players, one on the history and growth of Hypixel from when it started to now. I was also considering making a video on the man who has gifted over $100K on Hypixel.
This video isn't great man, when it comes to the editing, having barely related screenshots rapidly grown on screen over random b-roll footage feels very cheap and nauseating, it literally makes me sick in some cases(like the beginning in about 0:11) where there is so much visual clutter because of the png spam that i needed to pause the video because of the animations😐. This content also feels very flat as well, to pat out the already very short run time of the video you go on tangents like 4:30 where you literally jump cut to start talking about monetization, you say that the video isn't about modrinth, proceed to summarize the monetization policy of modrinth, then summarize curse's policy and explain that further how earning as a creator works(also saying "they are being paid" feels kinda misleading) just to then start talking about taxes of all things! (All of that also applies to modrinth, idk why you're saying it like curse withdrawing to PayPal is bad, modrinth also does). All of that could've been just "And they're making money off of that because:" and show that projects on curse get money. That's the entire chapter gone! Even worse instead of talking about the mod or things related to it like other mods, you go on tangents about optifine and sodium for 70% of the video, like how do you not notice that? I am not writing this to attack the content, I'm trying to create constructive criticism but do you not see how most of your script is about optifine and curseforge in a video about "2 fake optimization mods"? Your title doesn't even conway anything from the video like UGH! That's just infuriating! I need to say, good job with your thumbnails, they look really good, but the editing and scripts? They have a long way to go, Personally I'd try to tone down the speed of the entire video, it feels like it's 1.3x, Do more comparisons in the editing instead of showing everything one after the other(like whatever you were trying to do at the entire "Testing OF and sodium" section at 2:00) trust me that'll make it way better, slightly slow down the rate at which you talk because sometimes you talk so fast that it's hard to draw a line where you end some words and start the another one. And showing the Reddit post that you basically stole the other 30% of the video from (that was supposed to be THE thing you talk about) is pretty funny imo. Overall if not for the tangents about something barely related and nauseating editing it'd be really good, keep up the good work man!
I showed the reddit post to credit the person indirectly, I did not show the name to respect the person's privacy and often reddit users will delete their accounts. In terms of how I edit the videos, I make short-form content and that's where I come from, so I make my videos as if 2 seconds of filler is enough to get someone to leave during me saying something important. In terms of talking about Modrinth and CurseForge, I VERY briefly mentioned Modrinth and only mentioned it because making mods, even if the mods are of low quality, make people money. The Paypal thing is mentioned because, requiring ID is something some platforms do to mitigate fraud, and CurseForge nor Modrinth are legally required to collect ID for legal reasons as the payout method used usually collects your tax info. The hook into the video is regarding the two fake mods the Reddit post covers, but, while I was literally checking to see how big of a boost Sodium and Optifine give, I discovered at the same time there was a weird author and mod name in the launcher which was one of the other reasons why I decided to cover the topic of monetizing mods, and of course mentioning that the FPS mods are not malicious according to the reddit user but are providing a good amount of pocket change to the author. I still need to master the art of pacing videos and keeping people's attention, and of course, I was advised by a MASSIVE youtuber that I will need to stretch my videos to 8 minutes and beyond to get tons of views as UA-cam prefers that type of content. I absolutely hate watching my videos have very low retention rates with all the work I put in, so I cram as much as I can into a small period of time, and you can see my experience with short-form content quite well. I think I have ALMOST completely mastered the art of making thumbnails and the titles. I will be honest, I am in the middle of watching some documentary from GamerFromMars, a 5 hour one, to learn how he manages to make longer videos. I am trying to see how other youtubers talk and edit in a way where people are willing to sit there for 10-30 minutes to hours. I thank you for your criticism and I don't take it as an insult, clearly if you didn't know what you were talking about, you wouldn't have actually watched the whole video fully. I don't think my editing is going to improve for a WHILE but I am planning out a 20 minute documentary video but have put it on hold because I need to learn how to pace my videos well. Will take what you said to heart, it will probably be a while until I learn how to actually edit videos well but, being someone who is pumping out daily shorts and also pumping out long-form content, it's why I talk and pace things this way!
Fabric player, can’t relate. Most of this stuff is for forge only (from what I’ve seen). But I play on forge for a couple fandom-related mods so I keep on the look out.
@RealMillow It matters more that we populate Pixelgrew, we can't even handle the load right now because of all the players that are joining, I want our server to get to 500-1000 concurrent players on our earth map, I also want this channel to blow up. I am already being noticed by important figures, so, it feels really good. It's actually extremely easy to get to 100k subs if you know how to make shorts that blow up in a small period of time, sadly though, I've only had one short that exceeded 10K views, and I have over 250 shorts 😭however I think I am figuring out the formula! We'll probably eventually get there once my titles, thumbnails, and videos become higher quality and much longer! "The Life Cycle Of Minecraft" video has been postponed and I plan on it being 20-30 minutes if I ever come out with a way to make it that long and make it high quality, I still have some things to learn in regards to making quality videos, because I am struggling to get people to watch anything beyond 4-5 minutes. A 20 minute video will do exponentially better than a 2 minute video but it must be engaging, that's why people like MisterEpic will always be above me if I can't actually make long content that's good.
@RealMillow Well I wanna make it my career! Hopefully this goes well, and I am not the full owner of Pixelgrew but rather it's marketer, but, I still have creative say and have a lot of influence over it, so, I hope that I can change the industry a little bit. My original Hytale videos also I believe were seen by the people working on Hytale, while none of them commented, their top creators commented, and when I complained about them overhiring managers, within 3 months of the video, most of those manager positions disappeared from their job board that I pointed out, which, either meant they hired for them or scrapped those job openings completely. They are the least seen videos of this channel but it was funny to see people in my original Hytale videos say "you would be an amazing creator if you didn't dedicate your channel to bashing Hytale" and I got what I wanted out on that joke of a game and started making videos on what we have now. I literally watch part of one of the biggest videos on all of Vintage Story, I recommend his video to someone then suddenly the guy who made it comments on my community post. I literally watch a CygnusMC video and suddenly I see him leaving comments on my work which gets me excited. We are only 9K subs in and we're already very far. I am getting my 100k view video withdrawal as it's been more than a month since my last viral video but, hopefully we'll pull it off again.
@RealMillow The chances of me responding to you in the future will be dim, so I am glad to get to talk to you now before they'll be too many comments to respond to :)

The OptiFine creator has every right to do what he's doing but it does mean CurseForge and random people are getting paid when his mod is being used with modpacks if I am correct.

You can't "hostile fork" MIT software, or at least be deemed morally wrong for it/using it
@meeprdib I mean, the textbook definition of "hostile fork" is what happened with Neoforge (and I would argue they were in the right, but it still counts as "hostile" no matter how justified), but that was not the case with Embeddium.

In general any video you see of mine that's 10k-20k+ views is at around almost an exact 50% watch retention or higher.

you got so fast with speaking, I have to play the video at 0.5x speed. I understand why you have to do this though.
It hurts when I make videos that are more than 4 minutes and I see people only are willing to stay for 2 minutes on average, so my fast speaking comes from it.
Wait, how are you barely getting 200FPS with Sodium? My STEAM DECK runs Minecraft better, easily 300FPS without shaders
