Amazing work once again, was a pleasure to work with you and the result is outstanding! Really interesting seeing your process here and how meticulously you analyze the small details in the video :)
The previous 'version' of this type of video where you scored the scene with the witch and the cat was soooo helpful! I learned a lot from that, so I'm very excited for this one☺️😁👀
ahh that's really cool how you did the timing with the tempo. I should be able to do this as a drummer. I will practice this method with short animations I can find. Good video!
Sometimes these choices are intuitive, but are usually based on the associations I have with each mode/key... so I may think of D minor as somber and warlike, whereas C# minor as sinister and Victorian. Part of it depends on the music you've played and enjoy, and the other part is your own musical explorations. I'd recommend exploring those modes/keys and make associations for yourself as to what each of them feel like to you!
Amazing job as always! I'm so glad I found your channel. These are so helpful. Just a question: What is the priorities when you want to score a video? I mean do you always start by tracking the tempo and programming the percussion? I'm kind of new to this, so sorry if it's a dumb question...
Thank you--and not a dumb question! There's never really any hard-and-fast rule or formula, it's all about the ideas you have and how best to execute them--or if you don't have any ideas to start, you experiment until something begins to click :)

Donny's slow approach is still my favorite musical moment of this movie.

how do you determine your starting key, scale? your modes and such..?

Hi Zach, great video. What library do you use for the strings riser and the alleatoric strings? Thank you so much
Thanks Jim! Mostly 8dio cage and Pandora Lite by ProjectSAM 👍🏻

Where did you grab the animation? It is a really good work but most of all it’s super helpful for all of us!!! Thank you zach!!
Thank you Daniele! This was a direct commission from the animators, but if you're looking for scenes to score I'd recommend checking out the Cue Tube!
@@ZachHeyde man you are awesom thnx
Zach, I see that you use Cinebrass. Is it better than Cinematic studio brass?
I use 'em both! CSB for more classical sounding stuff, Cinebrass for trailer-y stuff :)

Pff, paladins. Annoying. This is amazing though. How you work out the timing and the feel is amazing! Great video! Thanks!
Remind me again why a real orchestra is ever necessary?
