Many years ago i was in an austrian "radical" left student group. Non-hierachical, anti-racist, feminist (...) all the good stuff. In a plenum we discussed the upcoming anniversary of Israel's establishment and some wanted to organise a (pro-israel) event. (i was pretty new to this group) I told them that i thought it's strange to praise any nation whatsoever and given it's lead by a right wing fundamentalist, even more strange. What followed was getting debated down by two people while the rest remained silent - they weren't super harsh or anything but the undertone of me just being a bit of an uneducated idiot that (unkowingly) enables anti-semitism was pretty clear. After that was over, members told me - in secret - that they kinda agree, but that that's something i just can not say or debate. This should have shaken me a lot more than it did back then.

@@souljastation5463 _"Speaking of which, I'm starting to believe that there's something that pushes Germany to always be on the wrong side of history."_ The idea of nation never worked really well for Germany. Every german state - with the exception of the DDR - was created through lies and false promises for the german people, but in reality was a means to keep the ruling class in power. I mean just look at what they did after the Napoleonic Wars: They invented German Nationalism. The lords built giant monuments (the Valhalla, the victory hall, the monument to the battle of the nations, the Königsstuhl, etc.) to enshrine this feeling of nationhood in the german people. It was created from above, because it served the purpose of keeping the old powers in place.
What’s becoming so obvious to people now is that colonialism has never ended just rebranded with different terms. From Natives indigenous people being called “savages” in the old days to now being called “terrorist” by neocolonialists who are neoliberals, neoconservatives, and zionist. 1) Savages is now “terrorist” 2) Civilizing them is now “bringing them democracy” 3) Colonies is now “territories” We can all see Israel is a colonial project being supported by former and current colonials such as U.S, UK, and others who also control territories of indigenous natives in Caribbean Islands, Pacific Islands, Hawaii, and many more. The liberation of Palestine will definitely give RISE to many indigenous natives around the world to free themselves from western domination. This is the underlying ripple effect that the U.S government and its puppet allies don’t want to happen

On the 3rd of october, the german state and it's patriotic bootlikers celebrated the "unification" of Germany. Germany was split in two in a response to its own crimes. Four days later, people in Gaza took down a border fence that was imposed on them, after their people were split into at least four sections, for the single crime of living on land that zionists wanted to colonise. Of course, the german press didn't see any of this. They called it an unprovoked attack, motivated by nothing but their supposed hatred for jews. Yes, german propaganda is entirely calculated. But it also only works because the german public is entirely underinformed about Palestine, the german war aims in eastern Europe, the Ghettos, the scramble for Africa. And yet, hearing the same few informations about Nazi Germany over and over again makes them think they know more than anyone else, and unfortunately well-meaning liberals outside feed into this delusion by looking up to Germany as some sort of positive example. What frightens me is, if germans actually saw the things for how they actually are, I think they'd rather drop their red, green, yellow and black exterior and just become open and proud Nazis instead of standing for any of the principles they claim and getting rid of their internal german exceptionalism

That alone seems, at least to me, like a huge part to not further "politically cleanse" your own population and why it took about 30 years to start with processing history, which was pretty much done by the second generation, the first gen also did not learn much and have not been told much by their parents. It took even longer for austria to publicly state that they were not germanys first victims. Long story short, many things went wrong, but TO austrians and germans collectively agreeing to protect the ethinc group that they almost eliminated is not one of them.
Glorious banger as usual by dear Comrade! And yeah it does seem these GERMs can't learn, from Namibia and Tanzania to World War 2 to now Gaza and Lebanon.
Instead of creating the DDR, Stalin should have established a Yiddish-Deutsch Democratic Republic (Yiddish: ייִדישע-טײַטשע דעמאקראטישע רעפובליק), promoting Yiddish as the alternative standard German language, and providing a viable alternative to the zionist entity "Israel".
The problem is, we've been taught how bad the Third Reich was to the point where some/most think we HAVE to defend Israel, no matter what. Or in other words, they learned WHAT to think, not HOW to think.
İ live in germany since 50 years. The problem with germany is that the past and the jew lobbys are extrem strong. Every critic about israel and you loose your job. it doesn't matter who you are. For example a journalist who had make a caricature about Netanjahu lost his job or in the comedy sector on tv there are not one comedian that can make jokes about jews. İt's over for you and every critic is labeled as antisemitism. The whole media talks only positive about israel. İt's very sad. They have a prominent sentence when it comes to the holocaust past. Quite frankly yes. Even the most milk toast group like the DSA is nominally pro-Palestinian, meanwhile almost every institution aside from anything led by brown people is anti-Palestinian.
The SPD (the Socialdemocratic Party of Germany) is pretty standard centre left. The Linke (the Left) is anti-capitalist liberal left but lost all of its relevance with infighting and broken hierarchical structures, which often was in conflict with their own moral standards. The BSW (the Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht) is a party centered around the founder Sahra Wagenknecht who is a stalinist and therefore follows politics that are in support of Russia over helping the people in Germany. It is authoritarian left. Lastly, the Grüne (the Greens). They are environmental left. I would say all of them are political left, with the exception of the BSW which has because of the beliefs of its founder more overlap with the far right than the left. Ironically probably the only party some of you would call left out of this list.
Really? Look at what happened to Labour or the french socialist party. Corbyn was even purged because he didn't follow the zionist line(or at least that was the excuse). Socdems turning into neolibs over the past few decades is the rule in Europe rather than the exception.

In a plenum we discussed the upcoming anniversary of Israel's establishment and some wanted to organise a (pro-israel) event. (i was pretty new to this group)
I told them that i thought it's strange to praise any nation whatsoever and given it's lead by a right wing fundamentalist, even more strange.

The idea of nation never worked really well for Germany. Germany has always been a conspiracy of the ruling people against the Germans.
1) Savages is now “terrorist”
2) Civilizing them is now “bringing them democracy”
3) Colonies is now “territories”
We can all see Israel is a colonial project being supported by former and current colonials such as U.S, UK, and others who also control territories of indigenous natives in Caribbean Islands, Pacific Islands, Hawaii, and many more.

How about instead of making antisemitism some vague political buzzword, Germany actually somehow dealt with the very real antisemitism in its population.
I went to school in Germany and I have heard „du Jude“ ( you Jew) as an insult and heard the undesired last sip of a beer or spezi (you know, the one that people say is mostly saliva) referred to as the „Judenschluck“ (Jew sip) and things like that rather frequently.
The irony is Germans are still anti-semite but now chose a different semite as their target i.e the Arabs instead of Jews, they surely do carry their hate towards brown people eventually

I wish the lesson from Germany's past would be to not tolerate any Genocide.
Instead, many seem to think they only have to defend Jews but don't have to care about other people.
Germany is since the lost wars under foreign goverment and has nothing to decide for his own interests!!!
"to not tolerate any Genocide." - does this statement include attempted genocide by the rulers of the Gaza against Jews?
@n.nasanguanahano818 Absolutely.
But it also includes the rejection of collective punishment of a population for their rulers.
@@TheLeontheking Well....Germans have some historic experience regarding collective punishment of a population for their rulers, as most often the innocent population is not quite as innocent, as it seems.

"If the people we genocided also commit genocide, that reverses the badness of our own genocide".
Hot damn.
The thing about Israel is that people need to understand that going against a group because they're doing genocide is not prejudice against this group, Germany made a great job at making nazism look bad, but they forgot to make people still think about what's happening, and realize genocide.
Except people tend to fail to condemn the prejudice against this group and people are using these remarks as rallying cries for such prejudice.
I was outside of Germany for a year when the war started. When I talked to my family I thought they supported Israel bc they’re Christians. Now I’ve witnessed that it’s everywhere in Germany and if you support Palestine and are not talking to a young person it gets ugly

Free Palestine 🇵🇸 (as a German leftist)
Yes, free them from the Hamas terror regime that's been unwilling to compromise for decades and sought violence time and time again, even to the detriment of thousands of civilians on their side.
They (Hamas) stole aid money to buy luxury estates in the safe distance of Qatar, did nothing to protect the civilian population (like e.g. building bunkers).
They notoriously use their own population as human shields and endanger them by building tunnels beneath critical civilian infrastructure such as hospitals.
They invested all the rest of the aid money which they did not steal into the war effort (both weaponry and indoctrination programs of school children, teaching them to want to become martyrs).
Even now, they proudly show in their own pro paganda videos how H fighters are systematically dismantling water pipes to make rocket casings out of them, worsening the drinking water crisis for civilians.
They brutally fight any peaceful political opposition within Gaza (look up the 'we want to live' protests of 2018/19).
They don't want peace with Israel on principle, several H leaders said so themselves in interviews.
Time to wake up to the uncomfortable reality.

The other Germany wasn't much better. While it didn't simp for Israel it simped for other fascist dictatorships and was even more authoritarian than the Soviet Union, literally shooting down protests for freedom and equality. What we needed and what we need was and is neither, the GDR nor the FRG system. We eatin' good with this one
German Erinnerungskultur: We thought we were superior back then and people followed blindly what the state told them. Because of that nowadays we are the maximum authority in the world on how to be the best democracy, believe it, the state says so... ah, the irony. Even the most left wing, kind hearted, easy going Germans I've met have this inclination to trust the state to a degree which is comical coming from another country. And sadly the "in Germany... [insert something everyone in the world does or finds obvious]" is very widespread. Doctors, coworkers, public employees, even punks in a (not)squat. It's so patronizing even if they think they're being helpful and nice.
Nope.

So-called socialist and leftist parties in Germany are pretty far-right compared to parties in other countries.
That sounds like America
