Ah I should’ve given you a tip. In winter put the sticky pads on the plates and then leave them on a radiator for a few minutes before sticking them onto the car. It helps with adhesion
Don’t top up with pure water in these conditions. My step dad did that in a rover years ago and up to full working temperature went on the motorway and the radiator froze due to the wind chill.
I really love Jags. My last one was an XJ358 V66, I now have an Xj351 Portfolio, I can’t get over the performance & luxury that this car provides - from the floor to ceiling, there is a feeling of superlative luxury , comfort and believe me, you ca climb out at the end of a long trip, feeling fresh, wanting to justt get back in & take in everything the entertainment system offers, knowing that you won’t be getting anything better in your £185 per night hotel! There is one thing I envŷ you in your S Type is the beautiful wood steering wheel & transmission shift! Sure, I have massage seats, incredible 21 speaker surround etc But the steering wheel is heated and all that, - but no wood! An, I bought mine with only 48k on the clock,, paid up front, and find it hard to believe that this sort of luxury, performance & looks could possibly be beaten! The new design took a bit of getting used to, but it too, is still unique. Sure they cost a bit t maintain, but who would want any more? And it is British. There is nothing like a Jaaaag!
20:59 On May 25th 2006 my future wife arrived at the Chiesa di Cappucini in Siracusa Sicily in my 2001 Jaguar x-type 2.5AWD in ‘Champagne’ gold as you stated, his nickname was ‘Tiddles’ I wish you all the best next year, beautiful car, great video and content in the channel, keep going!!
Good afternoon from Texas. If I may make a suggestion, unless it’s an emergency, I wouldn’t ever add water alone to the cooling system. It quickly corrodes the water pump. Also, if you fill the reservoir with proper coolant after you’re done driving it for the day, the radiator will draw it in during the overnight, cooling off process. Good luck.
If you have a car that is leaking coolant it becomes quite expensive to fill it up over and over with actual coolant and since the car was mostly full of coolant and Joel just topped it up a bit with water is probably not going to harm the car. Or harm it anymore at least.
The Isle of Wight is such a beautiful place and a V8 Jag is the perfect companion for any road trip. They are so effortless to cover long distances in and still make that great sound when you want them to.
Just FYI, the temperature gauge on Jags of this era are just "idiot lights" (it certainly was the case on XK8s). From bang-on in the middle, straight into the red if over heating is detected by the ECU. There are mods to make it actually useful. Your leaks could be caused by exhaust gases building up in the cooland system, causing excess pressure. To be investigated.
If you can roll the driver side window up what you can do is press and hold the open all doors button and all the windows will open then just roll up the others I have the same problem in my s type because I completely forgot to roll up my front windows when it started poring rain one weekend and my driver side doesn't go down but it goes up I would check to see if it makes a noise when rolling it up if it does then you can use the method till you get it fixed

The best Jag is a two door Jag. I have idolised this marque since I nappies, I want someone to do a Binky on an XJS - Joel, you should get one! I love the S Type, but not the colour, nor the interior. This would look better in red with black interior. Hope you are well Joel, we love your videos. So, has this car got a blown head gasket? I have not watched your latest video yet, I am saving that for tonight.

Great video as always, look forward to more. Really ignited my own interest in learning more about cars and enjoying them a bit more rather than the A - B tool I have used them for over the years.
Started watching your channel when I wanted a Z4, then an L322. In the end I got an R52 Cooper S (you need one, believe me..) and instead of a Rangie I decided on a Jag X350. Was going for the diesel as I do a lot of miles, but found a rare Super V8 in black with champagne interior for sod all money and so now used for special occasions. My 8yr old son loves it for the school run, but the little sod has now switched his allegiance to our new mk1 MX5. Anyway, now you've got a Jag V8 so I'll be watching again... 😁 Get an R53/R52 Cooper S as you'll love it and all its faults will give tons of content😂😂😂
Great video Joel, I have owned many Jag’s including s type, Xj, xkr. We live on the island now, but before that lived in Crafton, so recognise some of the Buckinghamshire countryside shots too. Keep the videos coming.
i dont think you have a head gasket problem . Sat navs are crap i set mine then ignore it its mad i set it once FROM , manchester to stratford upon avon it tried to send me on the smart motorway on M6, I IGNORED IT AND WENT M6 M5 on to m42 then m40 Junction 11 .86 miles less my way than sat nav..
Brilliant video Joel, with the S Type on the Isle of Wight. Me & my husband go on our summer holiday every year & we go in either one of our Jags (yes we've got two)😃. Good luck with the wedding next year. The island is a beautiful place for the wedding. I can also recommend Jersey where we had our honeymoon, a long time ago, admittedly..lol. But that is a special place too with a unique history. In terms of the Jag V8, might be worth getting the water pump & thermostat housing looked at. They're plastic on the early 3.2 & 4 litre V8s & do go. You can get metal upgraded one's though from the later 3.5 & 4.2 V8s. Might be worth checking the timing chain tensioners too as they are also plastic & can break, with nine failure. They can also be upgraded for later metal versions. If it's not already been done (check the service history). It's not a cheap job, for the tensioners & a new chain, probably nearly £1000 with labour. Good luck.
I loved my S-type 4.0 Sport, an awesome car and always a pleasure to drive. I had 30mpg out of it on a 200+ mile run more than once too?! and yes.. they'll drift!

Just a thought, you might want to check the antifreeze level of the coolant. With temps reaching minus 7 or lower you don't want frozen pipes.Especially if you are topping up with just water frequently.
You have seen there is coolant in your oil, so may be you should do an oil change and drive some miles to see if the white smoke goes away. Nice car 👍😁

I think it may go for quite some time like that with the "steel seal". Many of those leaks will probably go away now you no longer have combustion gasses playing general havoc with the coolant. However, it's not a real fix so it's going to be hard to sell the car.
Joel and Katy. My dad lives on the island too (Sandown). Depending on the big day date, I could head there in my X305 Jag XJ12 and would be happy for it to be used in your wedding party if needed. Can time it to see my Dad etc. Anyway, let me know. Would be my pleasure.
