Most aviation historian believe the Wright Brothers met the criteria to be considered the inventors of the first successful airplane before Santos-Dumont because the Wright Flyer was heavier-than-air, manned and powered, able to take off and land under its own power and controllable along three axes. Santos-Dumont deserves some credit (of course) but I do not think he can be called the pioneer of aviation.
Another Portuguese invention is the Ukelele, known throughout the world for being a Hawaiian instrument, but the Ukelele is actually a "cavaquinho" taken by the Madeiran Portuguese to Hawaii when they went there to work on sugar cane plantations. Ukelele means "gift that came from far away".

No. The wright brothers didnt use a catapult in 1903. They did use one later in 1904. Their first flights took off by themselves (flights plurar, bcs they did more then one). One of the times their plane was in the air for 12 seconds and another time it was in the air for 59 seconds (aka it was flying all by itself).Most experts agree that the wright brothers flew first. The controversy comes from the fact that Dumont had the first PUBLIC flight. while the wright brothers didnt have a crowd around in 1903

Ooooh, when I lived in Germany I remember being asked in the subway where I was from, and when I said I was brazilian the woman straight up told me I was lying because "everybody knows there's only black people in brazil". It's a reeeally commom misconception to assume there's a brazilian look, as ana points out, we're extremely mixed, even if in some regions more than others.
I find it so fascinating when people who have no idea about something act as if they are a specialist. Anyone who thinks there is only one race of people in Brazil don't know ANYTHING about Brazil at all. But still they are confident enough to try to correct a Brazilian when they are talking about himself, his own country and his own people.

13:40 when brazilians says a foreign looks like a brazilian we are not talking about looks, since anyone can look brazilian, nor denying or judging its origin, we're talking about how well this person would blend between brazilians like "we couldn't even tell you're not brazilian". We tend to say this when the person speaks brazilian portuguese (even if is not perfect) or do anything familiar for us (like be friendly). ^^ there are not many countries where a foreigner can feel like he belongs, especially in the very homogeneous ones -- you will always be a foreign no matter how many years you spend there, but in Brazil you can feel and be seen as a Brazilian even if you were not born here. And I think this is amazing 🥰 [edit: I didn't explain my thinking very well with the examples, but what I meant was that each country has its nuances (in movements, in speech, in the way of walking, even in appearance, the body structure) so when a native identifies these nuances in a foreigner, gives this insight "oh, looks like he's from here"]

It is not just in Brazil. Even in a homogeneous country like Korea locals often say "you look like a Korean" to foreigners as a compliment. It's not just about appearance they say it even to Westerners who speak Korean too well and are culturally Koreanized. This is because locals feel comfortable with foreigners who are Koreanized. And foreigners who speak Korean so well and are Koreanized certainly have less difficulty getting along with local people than foreigners who are not.

The way they speak English is very different from one another and the accents their accents in Portuguese doesn't sound as different languages! I remembered a day when my friend went to Germany, and when people asked where he was from, he said he was Brazilian, but they didn't believe him because he had features of a Japanese person. So, they said he was Asian, but he is indeed Asian. Many foreigners don't know that the largest Japanese population outside of Japan is in Brazil. In my city in São Paulo, many things we have here came from other countries. For example, rice came from Japan, and some other foods came from different countries. Each state has its own accents, dialects, and different cultures. In São Paulo, in my city, we have Carnival and also plenty of Japanese festivals. One of the most well-known Japanese festivals here is the Tanabata Matsuri. This festival takes place in an oriental district called Liberdade. There's also the Chinese New Year celebration.
Just a correction: Besides Portuguese, Spanish, and many Native-South American languages, also, English, French, and Dutch are the official languages of Guyana, French Guyana, and Suriname respectively. 😉

I work at a restaurant in Portugal and the amount of people that thank we with a "Gracias" is just crazy. I got used to it, but when I'm in a mood for trolling, I actually start speaking to them in Spanish like: "Ah, entonces hablemos en español", or something the like.

I do believe the US passport is better, the only problem with it is the very strong foreign policy that America has, which creates lots of enemies and suspicions that could render your fake passport useless. Only a very very small minority of whites in Brazil come from Scandinavia or the Netherlands for example, most white people here come from either Portugal or Italy. So Brazilians do in fact have a somewhat predictable set of traits. Even the black population came from some specific parts of Africa so their gene pool is also predictable to some extent. It's somewhat easy to tell who's a black person from here vs. an immigrant, just bc of the different traits. Basically Brazilians look like they're from "everywhere", but there are some major exceptions. It's very rare to see Southeast Asian people in Brazil; People from Northern Europe are also very, very rare; and many other examples. In this regard you're generally better off with an American passport. You can truly be from everywhere and be American, with practically no exception. A Pacific islander from Hawaii or Samoa is as American as someone from Wisconsin that has Swedish roots. And every freaking country on earth has a community in the US, even obscure places like Tuvalu or Moldova.

Brazil is not the only country that doesn't speak Spanish, Guyana and Suriname also do not speak Spanish and are independent countries. French Guiana also doesn't speak Spanish, but it is not an independent country. Also, Brasilia became the capital in 1960, so while what she said that Rio was the capital 100 years ago is not wrong, it kinda sounds Brasilia was created around that time while it wouldn't be until 1960 when Brasilia became the capital.

The stereotype we speak Spanish is the worst. It's less offensive to say we speak Brazilian, because at least you're aware we speak a different language from the rest of LatAm. It's alright to think Rio de Janeiro is the capital. Rio is by far our famous city and it was the capital for over two centuries before 1960. Now if you say the capital is Buenos Aires that's another story lol Football is a 100% true stereotype. People here are obsessed with it. It's more than just a sport, it's an essential part of the Brazilian culture. Samba is not really a popular genre anymore. It's mostly a Rio thing but even there it's not as strong as carioca funk. It still has a strong influence in other musical movements that are actually popular tho.
I have been living in Brazil for more than 1 year, and what I have noticed is that a football thing is very individual. I heard some foreigners calling my husband not a Brazilian just because he has no interest in football. Moreover,, people say this interest increases with the World Cup around the corner. But I wouldn't argue that there is more football here than in my home country, surely.

Even in many guide tours of Portuguese cities here on UA-cam it's quite common to see non-Hispanic producers to actually confuse Portuguese with Spanish names and toponyms. This confusion is pretty common, specially for people outside of Western European, Hispanic or Lusophone countries. The lack of notion about both languages is still unfortunatelly a thing.
The only reason that a Spanish person speaks Spanish with a Brazilian person is because we know the language has many similarities and we can understand each other for the most part but I personally think we all acknowledge that portugués is a different language ,this is a general knowledge subject for the primary school for every child at least my country ... Unless your talking about Americans and Asians their knowledge about other countries is very not existing after living in the USA for a long time I still hate how they say America is two continents or how every single person that speaks Spanish must be Mexican.

Omg, I’m Brazilian but have been living in the US a long time. So in high school I got in an argument with my history teacher because he said the Wright brothers invented the airplane, lol. I disagreed immediately. He had no idea who Santos-Dumont was. But he did his own research afterwards and reluctantly had to admit it.
About slamming the car door, when they do that, we say "don't you have a refrigerator at home?" (você não tem geladeira em casa?), it means that we gently close the refrigerator door and we must do the same with the car door.

Santos Dumont was a great inventor, but the Wright brothers did it first, in 1903, while 14 bis was first tested in 1906. However, even with just 3 years of difference, Dumont's aeroplane, 14 bis, didn't need any rails or catapults or external apparatus, unlike the first Wright Flyers. Both of them contributed a lot to aviation! Even as a Brazilian I can accept that the Wright brothers were the first ones, but Alberto Santos Dumont, the man that was born in the same city that I was, was a marvelous inventor nonetheless Santos Dumont foi um grande inventor, mas os Irmãos Wright foram os primeiros, em 1903, enquanto o 14 bis só foi testado em 1906. Entretanto, só com 3 anos de diferença, o aeroplano de Dumont, o 14 bis, não precisava de trilhos ou catapultas ou nenhum aparelho externo, diferente dos Irmãos Wright. Ambos contribuiram bastante para a aviação! Mesmo como um brasileiro eu consigo aceitar que os Irmãos Wright foram os primeiros, mas Alberto Santos Dumont, o homem que nasceu na mesma cidade que eu, era um incrível inventor, de qualquer forma.

The Wright Brothers' plane was self-powered. Catapult-assist and self-powered flight are two different things. Many navy planes are catapult-assist takeoff. In any case, for the Wright Brothers' first flight in North Carolina they didn't use a catapult. So even the claim that Santos-Dumont was the first non-catapult-assisted flight is not correct.
@@mattmexor2882 I think the main difference is that the Wright Brothers flew in secrecy, with barely any witnesses and only a photograph to prove it. Santos-Dumond, on the other hand, made the first public flight in History, before a large crowd, certified by an international association, etc. It's hard to say that the Wright Brothers did this or that, when all the proof we have is their own word. In fact, they flew publicly for the first time in 1908, two years after Santos-Dumont.
@@renbp385 The Wright Brothers had multiple flights before Santos-Dumont achieved his. Their flights are not unverifiable. There are multiple witnesses and a trail of records. It takes believing in a weird conspiracy. They flew it in France, in 1908, I would imagine. And then to those who were involved in the French aviation culture that was the first demonstration. But I doubt (though I really don't know) that these days in France people believe the Wright Brothers faked their flights. That seems to be reserved for Brazil. These "international associations" such as the FAI, have long accepted that the Wright Brothers achieved the first self-powered flight.
@@IgorDPortu You really need to stop spreading misinformation about this. Your guy did a good job developing an airplane. But that doesn't mean the Wright Brothers didn't also develop and airplane. They did, and they did it first. The French with whom Santos-Dumont was associated were Eurocentric and distrusted some far-off claims that didn't involve Europe. But to my understanding, when they saw the state of the Wights' plane in 1908 most realized the reports were true. It is well-accepted today by international aviation organizations that the Wright Brothers built and demonstrated self-powered aircraft before Santos-Dumont.
I'm Brazilian and I never understood why Brazilians started to hate people assuming we speak Spanish. The Brazilian woman in the video said that Brazil is the only country in South America that doesn't speak Spanish. There are, as far as I know, two others (Guyana and Suriname) that don't speak it either, countries we have borders with. Obviously she didn't intend to offend anyone. For me it looks like something that was created by Brazilian influencers though social media on videos like "Things they say to me when I say I'm Brazilian" and now it was taken up as a convention even by Brazilians who have never interacted with someone from other country before. They are not bothered by having to explain, they are bothered by they not knowing, as if someone were obligated to know the history of our country. They are not being disrespectful. They just don't know.
I am personally not all that annoyed about stereotypes like the ones about samba and soccer as I once was, because... well, it's fair enough to ask people not to assume things of individuals, but it's hard not to assume about culture in general, even if you can be wrong. I mean, it's not like we have a much better cultural understanding of every country in the world, and part of the charm of this channel is seeing cultural misconceptions corrected through friendly talking and games.

Santos Dumont was the first to actually envision and fly something closer to a airplane in 1898 he flew a prototype in around 400m above ground but a proper controlled flight was only in around 1906, the wright brothers did it in 1903 or so they and the nonexistent witness claim. In the end by the time Santos Dumont got a proper flight there were multiple people already trying it out. I would say the first one to think and act on the idea was Santos Dumont.

Uma coisa que eu odeio é quando muitos brasileiros falam que entendem melhor espanhol do que o português de Portugal kkkkk Gente, isso é falta de exposição com o português de Portugal. Se a gente buscasse mais conteúdos de lá, se tivéssemos mais acesso aos conteúdos de lá em streamings e coisas assim, a gente ia acabar se acostumando MUITO rápido com o sotaque português. Falar que entende o espanhol melhor é um exagero. Espanhol quando falado devagar, conseguimos entender muito bem, mas a real é que os falantes nativos do espanhol falam MUITO rápido e comem muitas sílabas, e não dá pra entender p**** nenhuma do que eles tão falando. Toda vez que vejo brasileiro falando que entende melhor o espanhol, a pessoa que tá falando espanhol tá falando mais lento que uma tartaruga. É óbvio que vamos entender, né? Tenta ouvir o espanhol falado na velocidade da luz, quero ver se vão entender. Não vão, e esse espanhol rápido é o espanhol REAL do cotidiano falado na maioria dos países que falam espanhol. Só um país ou outro que fala mais devagar, como é o caso do México, e mesmo assim nem é tão devagarinho assim. Tem um canal chamado "linguriosa" que eu ADORO, é de uma espanhola. Já vi brasileiros lá falando que entende quase 100% o que ela fala e que entende melhor que o português de Portugal. MAS É CLARO QUE A GENTE VAI ENTENDER. A dona do canal fala SUPER LENTO e quase sem gíria nenhuma, e isso é proposital pra gente entender mesmo. Os americanos entendem o inglês britânico porque são constantemente expostos ao sotaque. Já vi americanos dizendo que tem sotaques lá da Inglaterra que são muito puxados e que não entendem nada, mas é porque tiveram pouca exposição com esse sotaque. Até mesmo aqui no Brasil eu já tive dificuldade de entender um sotaque completamente diferente do meu por conta das gírias e das palavras diferentes, mas comecei a entender depois que me acostumei.
Acho que muitos disso virou um meme exagerado, como os Hispanicos fazem com os chilenos dizendo que não os entende, agora muitos brasileiros tem acesso ao português europeu e africano, tá cheio de canais de angolanos e portugueses que tá cheio de Brasileiros, antes a gente só tinha contanto com os portugueses por meio de reportagens curtas e na maior parte das vezes com gente de idade, que por si só são mais difíceis de entender. Hoje tenho mais dificuldade de entender alguém do interior do nordeste por esse mesmo baixo contanto que tínhamos como os portugueses.
Estoy de acuerdo con todo, excepto con lo de que es necesario que hablemos español lento para que los brasileños nos puedan entender muy bien. No he tenido las mismas experiencias de lo que tú mencionas. He hablado rápido con muchos brasileños y no me han pedido que repita lo que diga. Lo más que me ha llegado a pasar es que tarden en procesar la oración entera durante varios segundos, pero eso de que no entienden el español rápido no es verdad, quizá eso se aplique para los que no hayan tenido nunca exposición con el idioma español, aunque empiezo a cuestionarme si me he encontrado con alguien con estas características.
Honestamente, temos mto mais exposição a espanhol do q a português de portugal, falando d forma geral. Eu pessoalmente n tenho essa dificuldade com pt-eu, mas as influências europeias para o pt e o es são bem diferentes das q tivemos nas Américas. Se a gente se expor mais ao pt - eu a gente vai ter mais facilidade de entender no geral, mas bem, é assim com qq língua e dialeto do mundo né. Assim como no Brasil cada região tem diferentes culturas , na Europa cada país também tem uma cultura diferente. Dizer que na Europa toda a gente é fria e pouco amigável é o mesmo que dizer o tal exemplo de que todo o Brasileiro tem a "Tan Skin". Portugueses têm uma cultura muito mais "foreigners friendly" do que na Alemanha ou países nórdicos. Ao fim ao cabo somos países latinos então a boa disposição e cultura amigável está no nosso sangue igual ao Brasil. I disagree with the fact that you think people who are not from Brazil or Portugal are not allowed to criticize Brazil or Portugal just because they are not from there. I think people can say whatever they want whether you agree with them or not. People are starting to lose there way when it comes to freedom of speech and freedoms in general. I did enjoy the video as someone not from Brazil but living here, it rings true on most things.
This is a type of pratiotism or nationalism that most of brazilians have. I don't think it's valid for all brazilians, but for example, I'd be uncomfortable seeing a foreigner say bad things about my country, even if I'm always saying bad things about Brazil. Which is weird, I admit, but it's not always something we control, it's something spontaneous most of the time. It's like a need to defend the land from which you were born, even if you recognize all the problems it has.

Como é um canal internacional, isso é praticamente inviável. Que nem eu já disse em outros comentários, isso inviabilizaria a compreensão pra quem não fala português, e os donos do canal não devem ter recursos pra contratar tradutores, pois seria bem trabalhoso e dispendioso financeiramente. the confusion of Santos Dumont vs Wright Brothers is because they (W brothers) did a plane with controllable surfaces (like today's planes) but had no engine, it was launched from a kind of ramp.The 14-bis (Santos Dumont's airplane) was self propelled, had some kind of controls and at the same time frame, I think 2 weeks apart (maybe 2 months? I don't remember. So, 14-bis toke-off by itself and landed by itself after a couple hundred meters. W.Brothers were launched. The time between flights were so small that if it was today, they would be credited together, but Santos Dumont did fly in Paris and the W.Brothers in the USA, even Paris being a big and important city, the majority of the world press were in English, so the W.Brothers were credited for the invention of the airplane.
As i Brazilian what annoys me the most is to assume that the entire country of Brazil is full of crime. Well, a simple Google research is enough to see that most cities in Brazil aren't dangerous at all. The Metropolitan areas and the Capitals are more problematic but other cities are safer and the probability to be robbed is low.

Most aviation historian believe the Wright Brothers met the criteria to be considered the inventors of the first successful airplane before Santos-Dumont because the Wright Flyer was heavier-than-air, manned and powered, able to take off and land under its own power and controllable along three axes. Santos-Dumont deserves some credit (of course) but I do not think he can be called the pioneer of aviation.

No. The wright brothers didnt use a catapult in 1903. They did use one later in 1904. Their first flights took off by themselves (flights plurar, bcs they did more then one). One of the times their plane was in the air for 12 seconds and another time it was in the air for 59 seconds (aka it was flying all by itself).Most experts agree that the wright brothers flew first. The controversy comes from the fact that Dumont had the first PUBLIC flight. while the wright brothers didnt have a crowd around in 1903

Ooooh, when I lived in Germany I remember being asked in the subway where I was from, and when I said I was brazilian the woman straight up told me I was lying because "everybody knows there's only black people in brazil". It's a reeeally commom misconception to assume there's a brazilian look, as ana points out, we're extremely mixed, even if in some regions more than others.
I find it so fascinating when people who have no idea about something act as if they are a specialist. Anyone who thinks there is only one race of people in Brazil don't know ANYTHING about Brazil at all. But still they are confident enough to try to correct a Brazilian when they are talking about himself, his own country and his own people.

13:40 when brazilians says a foreign looks like a brazilian we are not talking about looks, since anyone can look brazilian, nor denying or judging its origin, we're talking about how well this person would blend between brazilians like "we couldn't even tell you're not brazilian". We tend to say this when the person speaks brazilian portuguese (even if is not perfect) or do anything familiar for us (like be friendly). ^^
there are not many countries where a foreigner can feel like he belongs, especially in the very homogeneous ones -- you will always be a foreign no matter how many years you spend there, but in Brazil you can feel and be seen as a Brazilian even if you were not born here. And I think this is amazing 🥰

It is not just in Brazil. Even in a homogeneous country like Korea locals often say "you look like a Korean" to foreigners as a compliment. It's not just about appearance they say it even to Westerners who speak Korean too well and are culturally Koreanized. This is because locals feel comfortable with foreigners who are Koreanized. And foreigners who speak Korean so well and are Koreanized certainly have less difficulty getting along with local people than foreigners who are not.

The way they speak English is very different from one another and the accents their accents in Portuguese doesn't sound as different languages! So, they said he was Asian, but he is indeed Asian. Many foreigners don't know that the largest Japanese population outside of Japan is in Brazil. In my city in São Paulo, many things we have here came from other countries. For example, rice came from Japan, and some other foods came from different countries. Each state has its own accents, dialects, and different cultures. In São Paulo, in my city, we have Carnival and also plenty of Japanese festivals. One of the most well-known Japanese festivals here is the Tanabata Matsuri. This festival takes place in an oriental district called Liberdade. There's also the Chinese New Year celebration.
Just a correction: Besides Portuguese, Spanish, and many Native-South American languages, also, English, French, and Dutch are the official languages of Guyana, French Guyana, and Suriname respectively. 😉

I work at a restaurant in Portugal and the amount of people that thank we with a "Gracias" is just crazy. I got used to it, but when I'm in a mood for trolling, I actually start speaking to them in Spanish like: "Ah, entonces hablemos en español", or something the like.

I do believe the US passport is better, the only problem with it is the very strong foreign policy that America has, which creates lots of enemies and suspicions that could render your fake passport useless.
Only a very very small minority of whites in Brazil come from Scandinavia or the Netherlands for example, most white people here come from either Portugal or Italy. So Brazilians do in fact have a somewhat predictable set of traits.
Even the black population came from some specific parts of Africa so their gene pool is also predictable to some extent. It's somewhat easy to tell who's a black person from here vs. an immigrant, just bc of the different traits.
Basically Brazilians look like they're from "everywhere", but there are some major exceptions. It's very rare to see Southeast Asian people in Brazil; People from Northern Europe are also very, very rare; and many other examples.
In this regard you're generally better off with an American passport. You can truly be from everywhere and be American, with practically no exception. A Pacific islander from Hawaii or Samoa is as American as someone from Wisconsin that has Swedish roots. And every freaking country on earth has a community in the US, even obscure places like Tuvalu or Moldova.

Brazil is not the only country that doesn't speak Spanish, Guyana and Suriname also do not speak Spanish and are independent countries. French Guiana also doesn't speak Spanish, but it is not an independent country. Also, Brasilia became the capital in 1960, so while what she said that Rio was the capital 100 years ago is not wrong, it kinda sounds Brasilia was created around that time while it wouldn't be until 1960 when Brasilia became the capital.

Football is a 100% true stereotype. People here are obsessed with it. It's more than just a sport, it's an essential part of the Brazilian culture.
Samba is not really a popular genre anymore. It's mostly a Rio thing but even there it's not as strong as carioca funk. It still has a strong influence in other musical movements that are actually popular tho.
I have been living in Brazil for more than 1 year, and what I have noticed is that a football thing is very individual. I heard some foreigners calling my husband not a Brazilian just because he has no interest in football. Moreover,, people say this interest increases with the World Cup around the corner. But I wouldn't argue that there is more football here than in my home country, surely.

They literally have zero clues about history and notion about languages, you don't even need to know Portuguese or Spanish to distinguish both languages in speech.

This confusion is pretty common, specially for people outside of Western European, Hispanic or Lusophone countries.

However, even with just 3 years of difference, Dumont's aeroplane, 14 bis, didn't need any rails or catapults or external apparatus, unlike the first Wright Flyers. Both of them contributed a lot to aviation! Even as a Brazilian I can accept that the Wright brothers were the first ones, but Alberto Santos Dumont, the man that was born in the same city that I was, was a marvelous inventor nonetheless

The Wright Brothers' plane was self-powered. Catapult-assist and self-powered flight are two different things. Many navy planes are catapult-assist takeoff. In any case, for the Wright Brothers' first flight in North Carolina they didn't use a catapult. So even the claim that Santos-Dumont was the first non-catapult-assisted flight is not correct.

Santos-Dumond, on the other hand, made the first public flight in History, before a large crowd, certified by an international association, etc. It's hard to say that the Wright Brothers did this or that, when all the proof we have is their own word. In fact, they flew publicly for the first time in 1908, two years after Santos-Dumont.

It takes believing in a weird conspiracy. They flew it in France, in 1908, I would imagine. And then to those who were involved in the French aviation culture that was the first demonstration. But I doubt (though I really don't know) that these days in France people believe the Wright Brothers faked their flights. That seems to be reserved for Brazil.

They did, and they did it first. The French with whom Santos-Dumont was associated were Eurocentric and distrusted some far-off claims that didn't involve Europe. But to my understanding, when they saw the state of the Wights' plane in 1908 most realized the reports were true. It is well-accepted today by international aviation organizations that the Wright Brothers built and demonstrated self-powered aircraft before Santos-Dumont.
I'm Brazilian and I never understood why Brazilians started to hate people assuming we speak Spanish.
The Brazilian woman in the video said that Brazil is the only country in South America that doesn't speak Spanish. There are, as far as I know, two others (Guyana and Suriname) that don't speak it either, countries we have borders with. Obviously she didn't intend to offend anyone.
For me it looks like something that was created by Brazilian influencers though social media on videos like "Things they say to me when I say I'm Brazilian" and now it was taken up as a convention even by Brazilians who have never interacted with someone from other country before. They are not bothered by having to explain, they are bothered by they not knowing, as if someone were obligated to know the history of our country.
They are not being disrespectful. They just don't know.
I am personally not all that annoyed about stereotypes like the ones about samba and soccer as I once was, because... well, it's fair enough to ask people not to assume things of individuals, but it's hard not to assume about culture in general, even if you can be wrong. I mean, it's not like we have a much better cultural understanding of every country in the world, and part of the charm of this channel is seeing cultural misconceptions corrected through friendly talking and games.
It's not even a "stereotype" it's culture. I'm Mexican, if someone says mariachi I'm gonna be proud not annoyed😂 it's all about their attitude and I heard just a lot whining in this video, which honestly didn't give me a better image of Brazil

Santos Dumont was the first to actually envision and fly something closer to a airplane in 1898 he flew a prototype in around 400m above ground but a proper controlled flight was only in around 1906, the wright brothers did it in 1903 or so they and the nonexistent witness claim. In the end by the time Santos Dumont got a proper flight there were multiple people already trying it out. I would say the first one to think and act on the idea was Santos Dumont.

Spain and England also fell in group state and round of 16 in recent history. Uruguay is very far from the giant they were over 50 years ago. Even France fell in the group stage in 2010.

Uma coisa que eu odeio é quando muitos brasileiros falam que entendem melhor espanhol do que o português de Portugal kkkkk Gente, isso é falta de exposição com o português de Portugal. Se a gente buscasse mais conteúdos de lá, se tivéssemos mais acesso aos conteúdos de lá em streamings e coisas assim, a gente ia acabar se acostumando MUITO rápido com o sotaque português.
Falar que entende o espanhol melhor é um exagero. Espanhol quando falado devagar, conseguimos entender muito bem, mas a real é que os falantes nativos do espanhol falam MUITO rápido e comem muitas sílabas, e não dá pra entender p**** nenhuma do que eles tão falando. Toda vez que vejo brasileiro falando que entende melhor o espanhol, a pessoa que tá falando espanhol tá falando mais lento que uma tartaruga. É óbvio que vamos entender, né? Tenta ouvir o espanhol falado na velocidade da luz, quero ver se vão entender. Não vão, e esse espanhol rápido é o espanhol REAL do cotidiano falado na maioria dos países que falam espanhol. Só um país ou outro que fala mais devagar, como é o caso do México, e mesmo assim nem é tão devagarinho assim.
Tem um canal chamado "linguriosa" que eu ADORO, é de uma espanhola. Já vi brasileiros lá falando que entende quase 100% o que ela fala e que entende melhor que o português de Portugal. MAS É CLARO QUE A GENTE VAI ENTENDER. A dona do canal fala SUPER LENTO e quase sem gíria nenhuma, e isso é proposital pra gente entender mesmo.
Os americanos entendem o inglês britânico porque são constantemente expostos ao sotaque. Já vi americanos dizendo que tem sotaques lá da Inglaterra que são muito puxados e que não entendem nada, mas é porque tiveram pouca exposição com esse sotaque.
Até mesmo aqui no Brasil eu já tive dificuldade de entender um sotaque completamente diferente do meu por conta das gírias e das palavras diferentes, mas comecei a entender depois que me acostumei.

Acho que muitos disso virou um meme exagerado, como os Hispanicos fazem com os chilenos dizendo que não os entende, agora muitos brasileiros tem acesso ao português europeu e africano, tá cheio de canais de angolanos e portugueses que tá cheio de Brasileiros, antes a gente só tinha contanto com os portugueses por meio de reportagens curtas e na maior parte das vezes com gente de idade, que por si só são mais difíceis de entender. Hoje tenho mais dificuldade de entender alguém do interior do nordeste por esse mesmo baixo contanto que tínhamos como os portugueses.
Estoy de acuerdo con todo, excepto con lo de que es necesario que hablemos español lento para que los brasileños nos puedan entender muy bien. No he tenido las mismas experiencias de lo que tú mencionas. He hablado rápido con muchos brasileños y no me han pedido que repita lo que diga. Lo más que me ha llegado a pasar es que tarden en procesar la oración entera durante varios segundos, pero eso de que no entienden el español rápido no es verdad, quizá eso se aplique para los que no hayan tenido nunca exposición con el idioma español, aunque empiezo a cuestionarme si me he encontrado con alguien con estas características.
Honestamente, temos mto mais exposição a espanhol do q a português de portugal, falando d forma geral. Eu pessoalmente n tenho essa dificuldade com pt-eu, mas as influências europeias para o pt e o es são bem diferentes das q tivemos nas Américas. Se a gente se expor mais ao pt - eu a gente vai ter mais facilidade de entender no geral, mas bem, é assim com qq língua e dialeto do mundo né.

Assim como no Brasil cada região tem diferentes culturas , na Europa cada país também tem uma cultura diferente. Dizer que na Europa toda a gente é fria e pouco amigável é o mesmo que dizer o tal exemplo de que todo o Brasileiro tem a "Tan Skin". Portugueses têm uma cultura muito mais "foreigners friendly" do que na Alemanha ou países nórdicos. Ao fim ao cabo somos países latinos então a boa disposição e cultura amigável está no nosso sangue igual ao Brasil.
PS: Mas ainda assim somos bem mais diretos e fechados que a maioria do povo brasileiro 😅 só que comparando com os outros países Europeus somos extremamente amigáveis 😂

I disagree with the fact that you think people who are not from Brazil or Portugal are not allowed to criticize Brazil or Portugal just because they are not from there. I think people can say whatever they want whether you agree with them or not. People are starting to lose there way when it comes to freedom of speech and freedoms in general. I did enjoy the video as someone not from Brazil but living here, it rings true on most things.
This is a type of pratiotism or nationalism that most of brazilians have. I don't think it's valid for all brazilians, but for example, I'd be uncomfortable seeing a foreigner say bad things about my country, even if I'm always saying bad things about Brazil. Which is weird, I admit, but it's not always something we control, it's something spontaneous most of the time. It's like a need to defend the land from which you were born, even if you recognize all the problems it has.

Como é um canal internacional, isso é praticamente inviável. Que nem eu já disse em outros comentários, isso inviabilizaria a compreensão pra quem não fala português, e os donos do canal não devem ter recursos pra contratar tradutores, pois seria bem trabalhoso e dispendioso financeiramente. Se elas falassem em português em apenas um trecho, fazendo uma comparação entre uma e outra, ainda vai, mas no vídeo inteiro, não tem como fazer isso.

the confusion of Santos Dumont vs Wright Brothers is because they (W brothers) did a plane with controllable surfaces (like today's planes) but had no engine, it was launched from a kind of ramp.The 14-bis (Santos Dumont's airplane) was self propelled, had some kind of controls and at the same time frame, I think 2 weeks apart (maybe 2 months? I don't remember. So, 14-bis toke-off by itself and landed by itself after a couple hundred meters. W.Brothers were launched. The time between flights were so small that if it was today, they would be credited together, but Santos Dumont did fly in Paris and the W.Brothers in the USA, even Paris being a big and important city, the majority of the world press were in English, so the W.Brothers were credited for the invention of the airplane.
As i Brazilian what annoys me the most is to assume that the entire country of Brazil is full of crime.
Well, a simple Google research is enough to see that most cities in Brazil aren't dangerous at all.
The Metropolitan areas and the Capitals are more problematic but other cities are safer and the probability to be robbed is low.
