The "come here" hand gesture is actually a Bruce Lee reference the same as in the first Matrix film when Neo is fighting Morpheus and Neo bounces side to side and flicks his nose before settling into his fighting stance and also the "come here" hand gesture Neo does to Agent Smith in the train station fight.
Fun Fact: Carrie Ann Moss was actually terrified of Motorcycles, and she used the highway scene as a means to get over it. you can see in some scenes in that segment how nervous she was on her face.

Are you planning on reacting to Animatrix? It's a set of 9 short animated videos, that take place in the world of Matrix. First 4 of them (in my opinion) are very important to Matrix Lore.
The hand gesture by morphis did not originate with him. It was actually started by Bruce Lee. He may have done it in a few. I believe he did it warner bros movie, Enter the Dragon.
that's the funny thing about references isn't it? I'm sure more people have seen this than enter the dragon, and it's been referenced so many times it's almost part of the grammar of the genre
Yeah, it's more elaborate in the first one. When Neo and Morpheus fight, Neo shakes his body and scratches his nose which is a Bruce Lee move and Morpheus in return does the "let's go" gesture to show him that he knows Jeet Kune Do as well.
And if we stick with just Morpheus: he did it in the first Matrix movie as well, so it didn't originate with this film either. No matter who originated it.
Probably why they were able to film it as clearly as they did. You can always tell what's going on in every fight scene? Probably no stunt doubles to hide.
The Merovingian saying "Mark my words boy, I have survived your predecessors and I will survive you" at 16:00 is a very important line! Neo's first introduction to the iterations of the Matrix.
No, the first introduction to the previous iterations of the Matrix & the One is stated in the first movie when Morpheus told Neo the story about the One who freed the first of humanity & created Zion. Also, Agent Smith was telling a lot about the first iteration of the Matrix, which humanity rejected because it was too perfect.
It's ironic that in the first film Smith compared humanity to a virus then became a virus himself I wonder if that was something that was planned from the beginning or it just happened when they were writing the script for Reloaded
It is funny. Very few people ever point out that Morpheus told Smith that all Agents look the same. Then Smith decides to turn everyone into a clone of himself.
In the first movie, when Neo is detained by the police, about to be interrogated by the agents, we can see the camera view enter the scene through a video-screen. That was one of the screens in the Architect's room.
Oh Yeah, nice catch, i never really noticed that, i have seen the original Matrix film probably more then any film ever made, well along with the Dark Knight, only seen Matrix Reloaded maybe 3 times...
Non-spoilery info: Seraphim, The Merovingion, Persephone, the ghosts and so on are remnant programs from previous versions of the Matrix. Agent Smith described elements of the previous versions in the first movie when he was "brain washing" Morpheus. The Architect, the Keymaker, the Agents (well maybe not Smith), and yes even the Oracle are definitely part of the Machines plan as they DIRECTLY CONTRIBUTE to the creation of "the One".
Keanu, yeah he really got into it martial arts making this movie and did quite a few of the stunts and fighting himself and continued on with Martial arts even after the movies ended.
unfortunately there's three sources that tell A LOT more about the history and lore of The Matrix. Enter The Matrix, Matrix The Path of Neo, and the no longer accessible Matrix Online. But Mary, watch the movie again and listen to The Oracle and The Architect. Listen closely, they talk about Ghosts, Warewolves and 'unexplained paranormal things'. Enter the Matrix was the best movie/video game crossover in the history of video games IMO. For example in the game you play the Niobe driving scene, getting to the point where you are behind the truck, you then as a cut scene catch Morpheus and circle round to the front, Morpheus leaps off your car and then the game takes over from that point with you driving again.

Enter The Matrix & Path To Neo are gold. They should teach the rest of the industry how to adapt, to integrate, and to complement movie storylines into video games.
Glad to see this from you, Mary! Not a lot of people enjoy the 2nd and 3rd films, so it's cool to see you dive into the conclusion. And yes, Neo is still the GOAT. And so is Keanu Reeves 🤣
24:01 "This is the last thing they need to deal with right now." Yeah, but Smith saved Morpheus, without knowing, by stalling them long enough for Trinity to bring down the grid. Neo would have survived if the building exploded as soon as they opened the door, and the Keymaker apparently was always meant to die right there.
From my understanding of the story, Neo is technically not a normal human being, some machine world coding (of the one) had been imprinted on him at birth (when it was time for the Matrix to undergo a new cycle). When he visited the Architect in the admin control room, he was basically able to unlock all of his programming capabilities (as all previous versions of Neo chose to save Zion from extinction). So when Neo said "he can feel them" it's because he's still connected to the machine mainframe as he carries the code to reset the server. Which is how he displayed his newfound abilities.

This film is fun and it has definitely grown on me in recent years but imo it is in no way better than the first. The first is a classic that spurred years of memes and copycats. The second is a fun sci Fi action movie with some shitty dialogue here and there and some really dated special effects.

actually the first movie was my favorite because I knew absolutely nothing about it.. no trailer no memes.. no internet chatter... I went to the movies.. and there it was .. "what's this?" and was completely freaked in the first 10 minutes.. and hooked for the rest.
The Oracle spoke to Neo about programs not doing what they were supposed to as being misinterpreted by humans, so the white twins are ghosts, and others are werewolves and vampires.
The majority of the music that you're vibing to is Rob Dougan (Clubbed to Death, Furious Angels Instrumental, Chateau) and Don Davis's score. The Soundtracks also have some great stuff from Paul Oakenfold, Rage Against the Machine, Linkin Park and Deftones.
Naw, that hand gesture never came from this movie. It came from 70's kung fu movies. Most notably: Bruce Lee movies. But I'm sure it was done in Asian movies before Bruce went back there to shoot The Big Boss.
Wow I didn't know that, all this time I thought they were the brothers from the boy band BROS they were famous singers from England in the 90s and later became actors. One of them is also in Blade 2, Luke or Matt Goss as a vampire.

20 years old! Crazy this was my first introduction to the Wachowski's biggest sci-fi franchise in Hollywood I did not become a matrix fan until this one came out, still my #1 movie of 2003 I remember seeing it with my dad and my sister opening weekend I absolutely loved this building upon the first movie's mythology expanding more with its philosophical ideas Everyone of course wears the black leather attire, sunglasses, coats, and crazy hairdos when jacked in Yes the movie is filled with so much dialogue being long-winded and at times the writing being pretentious The leads come off as bland taking it so seriously Still, The Wachowskis really stepped up from the first movie making incredible visuals, a futuristic perspective, and amazing action sequences The Smith clone fight is the best action sequence in the whole trilogy and the freeway chase is continuously suspenseful One of my favorite soundtracks too and the score by Don Davis is a great mixture of dub step meets orchestral Still had one of the best cliffhangers in a trilogy And thankfully fans have given it a critical reappraisal since its release It has more than a handful of weighty topics; much more to say with the politics of choice, the existence of fate, and its importance Is choice an illusion, everything is about causality, what if tomorrow war could just end; isn't that worth fighting for/dying for, is hope the delusion as our greatest strength and weakness, what is control?, we need machines and they need us Plus it makes a statement on the insidious cycle of power even if it was too complex for people just wanting some kicks and flips Seeing it as adolescence and teenage years with Neo still making his way through both the real world and the Matrix Overall it's an massive improvement over the previous movie you just have trek through some rough patches
i'm glad you enjoyed the movie. i love all 3 Matrix films. oh and it's easy to miss on the first watch but you can clearly notice stunt doubles if you look for it on a 2nd watch. the scene where Neo is fighting the multiple Smiths for example, you can tell that it's Chad Stahelski and not Neo when some more complex moves are being performed. you can also tell that some of the Smiths further away from the camera aren't even Hugo Weaving. this was still amazing CGI and special effects for the time.
Your Doritos say Cheese Supreme and here in the US I believe they are Nacho Cheese! Both have the same color bag and I’ve never heard of cheese supreme?!
When Neo jumped inside Smith and exploded him at the end of the first film, Smith somehow got the ability to duplicate himself. Maybe after Neo had been near the Architect, he got a boost in power and was able to stop the Sentinels outside the Matrix...? Now a copy of Smith is also outside the Matrix in the body of Bane and that is a horrible thought. It's cool to see your reactions to some of my favourite films from my youth, so thank you for the entertaining video...! 👍🏻
Incredible sequel and everything stepped up on every level. So great that this and part 3 were hitting theatres same year, months apart. Two things happened during it's release: 1.The Animatrix (anime short film collection) was mind-blowing with Final Flight of The Osiris as the prelude to Reloaded. 2.Enter The Matrix-the video game with Niobe (Jada Pinkett-Smith) & Ghost (Anthony Wong) takes place during Reloaded and was a very good game. The character of Zee who is played by Nona Gaye (Marvin Gaye's daughter) was a recasting. Aaliyah had been casted as Zee first. She filmed scenes for both sequels and hadn't finished due to her untimely passing. Keanu Reeves and Monica Bellucci (Persephone) have worked together before in Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992).
13:06 Persephone from Greek/Roman Mythology (Roman name Proserpine). Daughter of Zeus (God of Thunder and King of the Gods) and Demeter (Goddess of the Harvest) - yes they were brother and sister, and he's married to their other sister Hera and mostly slept with/attacked Demeter out of jealousy when he found out about her affair with one of his sons (the result of another affair) Iasion. By birth Persephone (meaning 'bringer of death', her birth name was Kore - the maiden) is the Goddess of Spring, by her marriage to her uncle Hades (God of the Dead, King of the Underworld, God of Wealth) she's the Queen of the Underworld. Some say she was kidnapped and forced into marrying Hades, others say she married him willingly, in any case because she ate the seeds from a pomegranate which grew in the underworld she has to spend one month of the year for every seed she ate with her husband, the rest she spends with her mother - who whenever her daughter leaves her becomes so depressed she stops anything from growing, including the flowers and the crops. It's how the ancient greeks explained the changing seasons.
Did Keanu Reeves learn how to fight?... Yes, absolutely. This is another one of those great classic films where the actors were so invested they learnt the skills necessary to fight/ride motorcycles (in the case of Trinity)/handle & fire weapons. This is one of the reasons I love films from this era. There was less fakeness to them, and you can really notice it during the watch.
Note that Seraph and the Oracle are gold colored code to Neo's vision which means they are firmware programs. The Keymaker was not a man but a program, a redundant program who managed to keep from getting deleted by Agents by taking shelter with the Merovingian (the Frenchman) because he was useful. The Frenchman is also a program but one designed to traffick and smuggle information and redundant programs, I know it's confusing but when you understand the concept it makes sense. The Frenchman's henchmen for instance, are creatures of biblical origin. Persephone (Queen of the Underworld from the Greek mythology) shot Abel with a silver bullet, and his brother Cain went to find Frenchman. He also has vampires and werewolves in his service which you don't see in the movie but you meet them in the games. These monsters come from another version of the Matrix which was designed to make people suffer. Others like Seraph are like the archangels that come from the Paradise Matrix, where every human being is a child forever and everyone was meant to be happy. Seraph was supposedly an Agent from that old Matrix.
The one thing that bugs me with the matrix movies, and I know it’s intentional, every time you or I would say “I think…” in the matrix it’s always “I believe…”
Merry there is a kind of break down and theories of the matrix on UA-cam that helps get a better understanding, also can’t wait till you watch the third one.

32:25 “How can Neo feel the Sentinels in the real world?” I will answer this with a question, How did Agent Smith enter Bane's body in the real world?. And the Architect laid clearly Neo is the sixth version of himself, Neo is not human but a program, then How come Neo, a program, is in the real world?. Lot of plot twists just in this second movie.
It's my understanding that Keanu spent a great deal of time, maybe months working with a trainer in order to do most of the scenes himself. He went out and learned karate and kung-fu even though he really didn't have to, that's commitment to your craft. It probably helped a lot when preparing to do the John Wick films.

If you can, I'd suggest wacthing the Animatrix short films as well.
In Greek mythology, Persephone was the name of Hades' wife
SO glad you continued this, a lot of reacters seem to avoid the sequels, they are pretty great.
The whole trilogy is a masterpiece of science fiction.
2 and 3 is because of studio greed which is why they was not liked.
There is no 'trilogy' and no 'sequels'
There is only ONE Matrix movie.
Persephone in Greek mythology was stolen away to the underworld by Pluto and had to spend half the year on earth and half in the underworld.
Naw, that hand gesture never came from this movie. It came from 70's kung fu movies. Most notably: Bruce Lee movies. But I'm sure it was done in Asian movies before Bruce went back there to shoot The Big Boss.
I think this one was the one of the trilogy where Keanu actually hurt his back so you see more upward body fighting than normal
They was the first movie.
I thought you might have recognized that freeway scene, Mary. I believe it was shot in Australia.
yes keanu trained for this. same with john wick
I feel like your laugh is the kind that people find either cute or annoying, depending. I think it's adorable
Keanu does his own stunts for the most part yes
Not difficult when 90% of his action is done by a rubbery looking cgi version of him.
@@crankfastle8138 as if i was referring to matrix reloaded only lol
The two Albino twins are quite literally 2 paint and decorating brothers from England. another fun fact they painted my utility room.
Wow I didn't know that, all this time I thought they were the brothers from the boy band BROS they were famous singers from England in the 90s and later became actors. One of them is also in Blade 2, Luke or Matt Goss as a vampire.
Matt and Luke Goss could literally have played the twins and nobody would have noticed the difference. Both have English accents too.
Burly Brawl. Fights with Agent Smith-Neo go as follows-The Matrix Brawl, Reloaded Burly Brawl, Revolutions-Super Burly Brawl. behind the scenes of matrix reloaded-type this in and you'll find all the footage seeing as how you probably don't have the dvd/blurays.
Reeves did in fact train in wushu for realz for this role...
Neo's powers in real world you can understand as 'wifi connection'. He can overload some of machines to take them down.
20 years old!
Crazy this was my first introduction to the Wachowski's biggest sci-fi franchise in Hollywood
I did not become a matrix fan until this one came out, still my #1 movie of 2003
I remember seeing it with my dad and my sister opening weekend
I absolutely loved this building upon the first movie's mythology expanding more
with its philosophical ideas
Everyone of course wears the black leather attire, sunglasses, coats, and crazy hairdos when jacked in
Yes the movie is filled with so much dialogue being long-winded and at times the writing being pretentious
The leads come off as bland taking it so seriously
Still, The Wachowskis really stepped up from the first movie making incredible visuals, a futuristic perspective, and amazing action sequences
The Smith clone fight is the best action sequence in the whole trilogy and the freeway chase is continuously suspenseful
One of my favorite soundtracks too and the score by Don Davis is a great mixture of dub step meets orchestral
Still had one of the best cliffhangers in a trilogy
And thankfully fans have given it a critical reappraisal since its release
It has more than a handful of weighty topics; much more to say with the politics of choice, the existence of fate, and its importance
Is choice an illusion, everything is about causality, what if tomorrow war could just end; isn't that worth fighting for/dying for, is hope the delusion as our greatest strength and weakness, what is control?, we need machines and they need us
Plus it makes a statement on the insidious cycle of power even if it was too complex for people just wanting some kicks and flips
Seeing it as adolescence and teenage years with Neo still making his way through both the real world and the Matrix
Overall it's an massive improvement over the previous movie you just have trek through some rough patches
YESSS sequel lovers unite! 😍
i'm glad you enjoyed the movie. i love all 3 Matrix films. oh and it's easy to miss on the first watch but you can clearly notice stunt doubles if you look for it on a 2nd watch. the scene where Neo is fighting the multiple Smiths for example, you can tell that it's Chad Stahelski and not Neo when some more complex moves are being performed. you can also tell that some of the Smiths further away from the camera aren't even Hugo Weaving. this was still amazing CGI and special effects for the time.
20:25 Wow. That was amazing.
Matrix 4 let's goooo! 💪
“Thats combat logging tho” hahahah 😂 that was funny lol
It's a cool sequel but not is near as the original
"Come on man, get your ATB up!" I love that.😁
Your Doritos say Cheese Supreme and here in the US I believe they are Nacho Cheese!
Actually Mary, the amount of prep work that Keanu does for his characters is staggering.
11:50 he has to be at a phone remember they cant just pull the plug it will kill him
The hand wave is a homage to Bruce lee
8:06 Keanu knows a lot of martial arts in real life, it's what made him perfect for the Matrix and John Wick.
A lot of it was Keanu. You can see the behind the scenes. I'm sure it's here to see on you tube. They all did some extensive training.
"Wtf is his harry potter power his a$$ he have?" 🤣🤣 best line ever haha
That "come get some" hand move actually originated from Bruce Lee!
Yes Keanu does his own stunts :)
Neo had the bullet-stopping and Superman-flying powers already at the end of the first movie.
17:14
Yes, agents can release people from possession. I saw it on Enter The Matrix. The guy did not remember being possessed by an agent at all.
Keanu did have a stunt double that did some of the harder wire work and such.
And he's the director of JOHN WICK
Incredible sequel and everything stepped up on every level.
So great that this and part 3 were hitting theatres same year, months apart.
Two things happened during it's release:
1.The Animatrix (anime short film collection) was mind-blowing with Final Flight of The Osiris as the prelude to Reloaded.
Neo and Trinity need to become Revan and Bastilla. It just needs to happen.
The highway scene is my favorite part of the movie.
Fun fact: Randall Duk Kim (The Key Maker) is also Master Oogway
The behind the scenes Doc on this is cool
The 2 part Animatrix shorts on the war between humans and the machines is well worth watching.
