It's so annoying for those of us who have come this far with this tutorial and now can't do this part of it because the assets have been removed from Unreal Marketplace. Is there any way that somebody who has already downloaded the boat pack could maybe make it available via Google Drive or something?
That is annoying that they removed this pack from the marketplace. Unfortunately, nobody can legally send you the pack because they don't own it (just the licence). I've found a free yacht on Sketchfab that you could use in its place... sketchfab.com/3d-models/small-yacht-09a9fc4a0061464fba1bc3ba76848869
Launching a boat is more complex than I thought. Mind you, watching it sink was a bit of fun. I am now starting to realise why games developers take so much time and manpower to make a good game. Very enlightening this. Excelent tutorial as always!
I have been looking for days on UA-cam for a simple landscape tutorial that's on-point, it works, very clear. This is exactly what i was looking for. Thank you so much man✌✌✌👌👌👌liked and subbed
Hm... didn't try myself yet. But, in order to get the boat lower in the water you should change the Z value for the pontoones? Or could that be achieved by changing the boat mass? In the video example it would look better/more realistic if the waterline was a bit higher on the boat, getting the propellers submerged etc. Thanks for the tutorials. They are very helpful for a noob like me.
I haven't tried it either but, yes, in theory changing the Z value for the pontoons should raise lower the boat. Although, you will probably find that that boat sinks sometimes, so you will need to try out a range of values. Let me know how you get on.
Any idea how to change shadow intensity? I tried changing "Shadow Amount" in Directional Light details, doesn't affect anything for some reason, the shadows the mountain cast are way too dark especially when looking at them close up
The way I've been using to change shadow intensity is to increase the SkyLight intensity. This counteracts the Directional Light so try blending these two light sources until you get the shadow value you want.
Thank you sir for this really good series of tutorials, I'm new to UE5 - but not to 3D. I can't get the waves to actually interact with the boat. When following what you did and simulate (like @ 10:32), my boat hits the water like it's a simple ground plane collision and just bounces a few times before settling. Do you have an idea? UE5.1 - Thank you!
I only use free assets in my channel because it is aimed at beginners and hobbyists, rather than hard-core developers. There are some great paid assets out there for UE though, Ultra Dynamic Sky being one of them, and some fantastic water assets as well. In my next video, I will be showing some more of the parameters for the free Water plugin but it is pretty limited and IMHO, the foam options are not that great, but I will show some.
Sorry to bother you brother, but I am making a short film in Unreal Engine 5. And I have a scene where I need to have a boat with the character on it travel on the ocean, but in a specific direction. I can't figure out how to animate a boat. And all the tutorials I'm finding for this are just either getting the boat up and running for a video game, or just showing you how to make things float. Not a single tutorial on making it work for the sequencer to have it float forward for a movie. Can you help me out?
You can use physic torque to move the boat (there are nodes for that, search for "add torque", "add force" also works). Input the boat forward vector multiplied by a float value
where did you find a tutorial how to set boats up for games? I only ever find ones on how to make them float, not how to make them controllable or even usable by a character...
@@marcapouli7805 uh well, I guess that helps alot ):most of my experience comes from Arma modding... So I basically know WHAT I wanna do, just not HOW in UE5 :D
Hii , I used the same setting on Yacht 04 and it worked finally. So, maybe using a different yacht with same method works. Just try, hope it works for you too.
would been perfect if you also showed how to make the boat drivable :) but great tutorial nontheless... would you consider making a dedicated tutorial for vehicles, especially boats? @@RSProduxx ye i mean a simple boat is fairly easy. it gets more complex when you want have a player walk up to it and jump and drive around bobing up and down on the water with waves splashing around. it depends how far you want to take it.
Hi, I want to get this pack! but for now they removed form the marketplace! can you plz link it in google drive or so for download ?! thx in advance Anyone can link me the pack plz! thx
ye i went to download it and it not there. i used the uss ronald ragan model on the market place. turned out to be more educational because i made it the correct weight and got it floating properly. would still be niceto get the models from the twinmotion pack. not sure why the removed them.
ok guys if your boat just sinks like mine did...I figured out the solution. You have to drag your static mesh yacht onto the default scene root and it replaces it in the blueprint. Then try and see if it does the buoyancy. That was the thing I missed the first few times.
