- I'm back after a 3 year absence! I can't believe it has taken me 3 years to locate my 2nd 997 Turbo. First thing I wanted to do is update the suspension (partial).
This video shows each step I took in replacing my front struts, rear shocks, rear upper control arms with adjustable units and adding lowering springs. I also replaced the end links and engine mounts (not shown in this video) and can't be happier with the results . . . front and rear lower control arms are next when they are available.
NOTE: Eibach lowering springs part number for the coupe and cabrio are the same and "supposedly" have similar compression ratios. Eibach no longer offers a separate part numbers for the coupe or cabrio.
Great instructions. This is going to save me a bunch of $ when I change the shocks and struts on my 997 Carrera S. Love your other DYI vids as well. Keep up the great work!
Thanks!
Thank you for this video. Very helpful! I'm about to upgrade my 997.2 C4S. How are the Torque Solutions upper control arms holding up? Any noise or harshness? Any concerns?
Love them. Not harsh or any extra noise coming from the rear. I don't think there is any difference between the Torque Solutions and the RSS versions I have in my white Turbo. I may pull the OEM struts and shocks out and put in Bilsteins. Notable difference between OEM and Bilsteins - I prefer the Bilstein as they feel better in my white turbo.
Love the car and colour too. I am lucky enough to have a 991.1 GT3 and a 997.2 C2 and just watched an older centre console removal video as I am thinking of upgrading my centre console to Alcantara
Thanks. Love the 991.1 GT3 - such a visceral car! Adding a Alcantara center console would be sweet. Hope my center console removal video helps.
Love the car! Great color too!
Thanks man . . . only took 3 years to find another project car!
