- So I decided to "go retro" and reupholstered the seats in my 2009 997/911 Turbo with a tartan design. I love the 70s/80s Porsche interiors and especially the Singer Porsche interiors, with the tweed and plaids. I thought it would be cool to convert mine so I sourced some tartan fabric off ebay and had a local shop reupholster the rear seats while I continued to source some OEM Porsche sport seats.
You'll notice the center sections aren't fulling reupholstered. I used the 997 Porsche Sports Classic as inspiration. I didn't go with a houndstooth design as I thought that was a bit too "common" and was a bit too modern as well.
Loose the logo
Where did you get the frond seat cover !
It was online. I don't recall the vendor - it has been 3 years! I just searched "Porsche tartan fabric" or "Tartan fabric" or something similar. Good luck.
Very cool. Beautiful car man and the seats look cool and not over the top. I really enjoy watching what you have upgraded on the car. Keep it up!
Yah mon
@Don Gillis "Had"??? Man, I hope you still have her! I remember when they came out when I was in high school. Thought that was one of the coolest things I've seen on a car. Dreamt about taking the high school crush to the school dance in the 911 convertible . . . LOL.
I'm really happy with the direction I'm going with these upgrades; not looking for over the top changes. Trying to keep it classy and personal.
Watch out for my Part III for the complete upgrade and I hope you and others enjoyed watching me throughout this journey.
looks good. Who did the seats?
Thanks. They look great in person. The video isn't representative of how awesome they look. I had the seats reupholstered by a local shop and sourced the fabric online.
Very nice upgrade.
Agreed, the big logo in the seat is cheesy, like the subtle Porsche stamp. Had a Anniversary 88 911, had Ferry Porsche's signature stitched embroider in the metalic blue leather headrest, very cool.
