On top of having exactly the kind of moveset I like, he is obviously enjoying himself, and it's basically impossible to dislike a character who's having fun like he is.
Bro they even gave him a special animation for if the grab part of side B hits but the attack part somehow in gods name misses when it’s not even programmed to miss under any circumstances
@@overqwilgaming6614 actually in casuals there are many ways to make it miss, from a 3rd party interfering to a stage element getting in the way to one side being slowed while the other isn't.

The throws are amazing, the walking is taunt worthy, and when his side-B misses he just shrug and gets a confused face it so funny to see when it happens. Ah truely pathetic, I simply use a sumo stomp of a down-tilt. His aerials as well. Donkey Kong kicks downward, King K. Rool puts his whole body into it. Donkey Kong kicks to the side, King K. Rool does a full drop kick. Donkey Kong does this double fisted slam well King K. Rool has this magnificent punch. His side aerials are also inverted, backair spikes and forward air knocks back. The way he puts his weight into a lot of his animations and this contrast with his rival Donkey Kong is incredible. Also the way he pathetically flaps his arms after up special wears off is pretty funny.
This has less to do with animations, but I love the steps this game took with King K. Rool's character model and characterization. I would never have thought to have him run on all fours or have him wear a tattered cape, but it really magnifies the savage, feral king angle that the Donkey Kong games were aiming for. They did this while leaving room for his goofy nature too.
Yeah, they definitely didn't hold back with this game. Some say they did in some areas... but when doing something this big you can't satisfy everybody.
I don't know if you've seen the video but someone made a video about how King k rool really plays like he is a rival to dk, trying to 1 up him. He runs like dk, his fsmash is like dk's neutral b, his bair is like dk fair, but he's like"I can do it with one hand, so I'm better" there's more but king k rool is one of the best represented characters in smash.
I mean, of course they did. A lot of characters don’t properly carry the life they have in their home series (looking at you, MARIO) but they still manage to get MOST things feeling right and proper. Just... Not for the older cast members.
@@matheustran8009 i was expecting Ryu’s Focus Attack for down B. The gratification you get from landing a full charged focus is next to none. Ryu’s FSmash is also pretty close in terms of gratification and key pose.
I actually never noticed before until Mock Rock slowed it down for this video. Surprised he didn't mention it at all, it sets it apart from all the other two-legged stomp down air meteors
I've always been fond of the athletically accurate motions of Little Mac. In such a fantastical game, it really grounds the "just a boxer" aspect of his character. The way he bobs and weaves, jabs, uppercuts, and liver punches are all well studied.
Banjo and K-Rool have the best slapstick animation. Ridley has the best violent animation. Zelda has the best Elegant animation. And Steve has the most accurate animation to his source material.
@@J_dnvg I’d also agree that Steve’s is more “ambitious,” simply because he’s got that creative archetype that G&W can’t really pull from. The amount of work the dev team had to do to simply make the 2D character fluid is charismatic in its own right! Z
13:08 Honestly, Ness and Lucas particle effects in SSBU are just beautifully done in general, although I wish Ness would use the colors of PK Rockin instead of that generic pink on his non-special psychic moves the way Lucas uses the colors of PK Love
@@officialjokker124 well I mean, it was pretty obvious. I'm not surprised they presumed it would be either of them. Anyone half paying attention should be able to come to the same presumption.
One of my favorite animations is Luigi’s forward air. If you land with this move, Luigi winces in pain from slamming his hand into the ground, then shakes his hand to ease the pain. It’s so good.
I've always liked Little Mac's animations in Smash, especially the juxtaposition of his awesome movement and punches on the ground to his "wtf am I doing" in the air. Fits the character and gameplay very well.
If it helps, I think Squirtle's is better just for the image of a tiny turtle hurling a biggum like Ganondorf. I prefer Mario's back-throw anyways. If Doc's is a yeet, than my man's got an ultra-yeet. And you can smack opponents with it too!
@@kylewood4488-b9r docs back throw really gets it for me because it feels very.. realistic? visceral? to me. like when somebody is being a shithead to you in real life and you just want them to leave you the fuck alone, docs back throw feels like how you imagine just firing them out of the nearest window and breaking their spine. there's nothing magical or whimsical about it... doc just wants you OFF OF HIS STAGE
@@MrBoingus the reason why i think the throw looks good is the build up. the split second pause between him getting ready to throw the opponent and actually throwing helps with the impact. everyone gets a moment to realize what is happening before the throw is landed
Narx Magee I love his walk and run. So derpy. And at first I was concerned with him morphing into different G&W characters for the correlating moves, but now I wouldn't want him without it. Great references. That said, the boy for his flag up tilt is pretty out of place for me. It's the only one that I feel doesn't work.
I think Dedede's up there as well. His face is the frickin best and he gets a lot of bonus points for being one of the only characters to viably taunt online with that 11/10 crouch.
I know that Terry technically automatically wins the Super Special category, but I'd still like to say that Buster Wolf and Power Geyser still knock it out of the park animation-wise. They did an incredible job on both of these, with the moment of impact on Buster Wolf holding a ridiculous amount of weight and power, plus the grace of the move after a canceled normal, and how Power Geyser's animation is a much more emphatic and expressive version of Power Wave, which always struck me as super cool.
@@CoinBox170 I wouldn't say so, since it could technically fit into the category of "Powered up Down B" similar to the difference between Rebel's Guard and Tetrakarn/Makarnakarn, as opposed to Terry's moves available exclusively with their special inputs. Although Finishing Touch is a pretty cool move. :)
I love the zoom in moves but Ridley's Down Special stands out. Just the detail of his expression and how dramatic it looks makes me a little sad that you didn't mention it.
I've always loved Donkey Kong's back throw. The 180 turn and just savage fling, complete with him even being off balance for a sec because of how much effort he put into it always made it feel incredible to do.
Honestly feel Incineroar needed some more mentions on this list since a lot of his moves have a little extra flair when hitting with them, but lots of other characters have animations that are just as expressive that it’s really hard to complain
I'm super biased here but I love how ridley is animated. They did a great job relaying that he is here to kill you and all of his moves give that feel of impact and violent efficiency. Except down air. Fuck down air
@@carlkoopa7389 if we want to talk about flexing, can we talk about incineroar’s built in taunts? My guy flexes after every move he hits. It’s satisfying as hell to hit a forward smash or up smash and watch your opponent get tilted while incineroar endlessly taunts them.
I personally feel incineroar has the best animated side b, with his look of dissatisfaction if you whiff or get the weaker version, and the pure elation to get the sweet spot
I feel like Byleth’s Down-B should’ve been given at least an honorable mention. The sheer effort you can see her pouring into the axe swing is shown off so well through the windup and how exaggerated her swing is, and the axe feels so powerful because of it. The finishing shockwave feels equally as natural, and the endlag being her forcibly removing the axe from the ground is the perfect end to this monster of an attack. This doesn’t directly relate to the animation, but the super armor helps sell the move so well, kicking in when the axe begins moving to say that it’s so powerful nothing can interrupt it.
Almost all the moves that use Aymr are so weighty and raw feeling. Getting a down-air spike feels so good when you see them lift the axe up above their head right before slamming it down on the skull of the poor fighter trying to recover to ledge. Also, down-smash feels like it has the momentum of a bus that would shatter shins like glass.
@@sarougeau i find that a little ironic, considering that in 3H, i felt edelgard has the most underwhelming animations of the lords. they try to show off her strength by having her effortlessly wield an axe in one hand, but it just robs the animations of all sense of weight, and makes the swings look weak for someone who is supposed to be the powerhouse of the lords. in that game, i think dimitri had the best animations, since they portray his strength in a way that makes the hits feel impactful. watching his post time skip version scraping the lance on the ground as he swings at the enemy or jumping in the air to throw the lance at point blank range feels very satisfying to watch. ahreadbar still looks strong in smash, but not as much as failnaught or aymr
@@Underworlder5 oh yeah, if we’re talking about the animations from 3H I have a lot of gripes with most of them. I’m a HEMA fencer and I’ve practiced with a variety of swords and polarms and the animations in the game are so goofy looking.
@@sarougeau yeah but nearly every game exaggerates weapon swings to make it visually distinct for either function (so the player can tell each move apart) or pure spectacle. Look at Hero's Matchet Man, he reels back all the way, then swings in a straightforward and predictable overhead strike that leaves him wide open, but I love that move so much because that animation sells the shield-shattering, ground shaking, power this move has.
@@wingedbluj1674 My personal favorite Hero animation is Thwack. You just see the windup as he charges up the magic, and then he throws his hand forward with a surprising amount of force for a magic attack, and it just makes it feel as dangerous as it is (although it is a little anticlimactic when it doesn't kill)
While not for any particular move, I quite enjoy how Ike is animated, since on top of it being a big guy swinging a big sword, it also fits with his mercenary background and how he doesn't really have time to be flashy or graceful; he's just going to swing the iron stick around in big dumb circles and let the magic happen.
I think what makes Zelda's up smash so satisfying is the fact it's a powerful and beautiful multi-hitting attacking. Showing off her grace and magical prowess, and her facial expressions, cuz she's cute
I think Ryu's f-smash deserves a spot on the list. Just like King Dedede's face plant, the massive build-up involving the drawback and then the kick (without counting the sound effect) really shows you the raw power and mastery of body attacks.
Yeah, or it could be a separate video. Sound design really makes some of these moves; I can understand why he went with Shulk's up-B for the honorable mention, but the sound on Marth and Lucina's makes Dolphin Slash the winner of that style in my book.
Yo-Kai Kid No I just played banjo a lot at release because I love banjo and just went through his moves frame by frame and they were so well animated that I knew there was no way he wouldn’t be on the list.
Westley Song well most of his moves are basic compared to the other dlc but his animations are much more well done then 99% of the cast. And wondering is just a really good move but it isn’t a gimmick.
My personal favorite side special is byleth's, the way areadbar slides across the floor, tearing it up along the way, just to curve up, and leave a massive red effect in it's wake while Byleth uses all her might to lift it is so satisfying to watch
@@moupe4652 yah I think Bowser also have the best running animation, too. It really sells the feeling that a giant raging and heavy af turtle is charging full speed at you, and surprisingly he is even faster than a lightning rodent. It really put intimidation to a whole new level
In terms of goofiness, Banjo takes the cake. You just can’t be sillier than a character that talks like that. In terms of style, Rosalina easily wins. She truly feels like a goddess from the stars. In terms of pure brutality, the win goes to Ridley. They truly mastered the “Cunning God of Death” title that he was given in Metroid, and few other characters make you fear getting hit as much as Ridley when he finally lands that Skewer and just disintegrates you.
Corrine is my favorite character, her recovery is really cool. Her dragon lunge is just so powerful and elegant. And her counter feels as if you pulled off a falcon punch. Her back air is really creative, and I love how it pushes her forward
i'm personally a really big fan of rob's up throw animation, something about the timing and the way he bobs up and down has always been really memorable to me
Low-key, Robin’s multijab is sick. Wind blades swiping every which way, very high in-game performance since it does tons of damage and launches far, AND you get to tell you opponent “I don’t even NEED my recovery to fight you” to their face. It’s great.
I'm surprised mii brawler's counter throw wasn't even mentioned, the rage when he lands the counter, the flow that gives a ton of weight to the movement, and I'm not sure if it counts but the great sfx make it an _increibly_ satisfying move to land.
Yeah, the fact that he just grabs them and brutally slams them to the ground gives the move a sense of power and pure brutality that is very fitting for the strongest counter in the game
@@AarturoSc Yeah I'm really surprised Snake wasn't mentioned once here. I guess MockRock really loves those more cartoony animations. Can't blame him lol.
I'm surprised Incineroar hardly got any recognition considering he has extra animations on almost all his attacks that just overflow with his cheeky ass confidence. Also Mii Brawler throw counter is underrated

@@onionthegeek5665 i think auto correct but a not before each very for some reason, it's always wrong, so it must've intentionally slurred your words. The way you can so easily tell the difference between grab side smash and side special, they're all so unique, it's incredible. So much feeling in Olimars movement, it makes it so easy for his opponent to know what they're going to die to. 🥲
@@seansean792 its because most of olimars moves consist group moves rather than solo pikmin attacks. Its only hard to know what you die to if the opponent isnt fucking paying attention
I personally would have given Little Mac second place for his neutral b for not only his KO punch but also his normal neutral b for how powerful it looks as he moves forward with it.
I'd give an honorable mention for side special to incineroar because whenever he either misses the grab or the timing on the hit his expressions are just too good. Also he flexes after every move, similar to Donkey Kong after his Up special. A lot of personality in those moves
Even before watching, I’m tossing out my guesses for some of the best in terms of characterization: K Rool, Banjo, Wario, Inkling, Wolf Update: Yeah, 3 out of 5 ain’t bad. I will say: no Kirby or Pac-Man for idle?
Maybe I’m biased because he’s my main, but I’ve always loved the animation for Plant’s back air. The way he opens his mouth to inhale, then closes it and spins (like, with a lot of his moves, managing to give a plant a facial expression, this one of concentration), gathering the fire in his mouth, then expelling it all through a small opening to create a huge burst, while retaining a smug grin. It’s so fluid yet you can still see every part in full detail.
I think d-smash for me goes to Byleth. You really get a sense of the power of the move when you see them wind up Aymr, and the way they swoop it down and let the weight of the axe spin them around feels raw. The end lag where they have to regain their posture sells the overwhelming power of the move too.
Bayonetta's smash attacks deserve even more recognition. In slow mo you can see there's lot's of detail from start to finish. From the strong anticipation she does, the umbra symbol appearing in the air, the portal opening, a demon fist (or foot) moving synchronized with her body, *unique* particle effects, the hair engulfing the demon, pistol twirling, and the unique end pose/idle animation that is conjoined.
While I do agree with a lot of your choices, in my opinion Incineroar has one of the best animations for his smash attacks in the game. The absolute weight brought into the attacks, especially the forward smash, plus the fact that he shows off if he hits the move, but gets visibly frustrated if he misses just brings so much personality to the character.
Kinda wish mii brawler's counter got a mention. Not only is it one of the most powerful counters in the game, the sense of power is shown in the slight delay of grabbing and then absolutely slamming the opponent into the ground behind them. Its a fabulous move that just feels satisfying to use
I think Dedede got undersold here; he's one of the most expressive in the game and with moves like Jet Hammer where you can FEEL the power and struggle, it's great seeing a character so jovial trying so hard
Not an animation, but Ridley's idle sfx is unnerving. It's a gutteral snarl that reflects him being an vicious monster & a malicious intellect that is pissed off at the player wasting his time.
Umm, just wanted to mention in King K Rool's down air, he does a flip just to really put extra momentum on his side Edit: also Wario used the Home-run bat in his mouth as well as dash-attack
Honestly, I feel like most of Byleth's animations are extremely good. Up smash/up air are super pretty/cool to look at as the sword turns into a whip and a flurry of death. Down tilt as Mockrock said is snappy and satisfying. Down smash and down air both just really sell the weight of the hit as well as Down B just showing the pure strength put into a single swing of Aymr. Ftilt and utilt are just smooth and buttery. Up throw is really nice as well, down throw is okay although it could be a bit better, looks a bit awkward. Fsmash has that perfect amount of wind up and I love the pose/stance Byleth has when reaching all the way out. And up B just looking smooth as well and if it connects, just honestly really cool how he flings himself above his opponent to spike them down. And finally fully charged neutral B. The golden light encapsulating the tip of the arrow, Byleth pulling the string back as far as he can while seeming to struggle to do so and finally just explosively letting go and letting it rip. I think the main problem with Byleth is that, just like Three Houses, he's, expression wise, an empty vessel, there is a canonical reason for that though so it makes sense, although it could help to portray the power of his attacks if for example, to really sell him charging his arrow, you could see him gritting his teeth while pulling the string.
I’m surprised Palutena wasn’t mentioned. Her smash attacks are all beautiful with giant lasers and wings, the rest of her animations are elegant and very well animated (besides her jab)
Actually, Wario uses his mouth for the home run bat. Also I really love almost every attack bowser has, except his forward tilt which felt better in smash 4.
I’m surprised that Hero wasn’t even mentioned once given that his animation are inspired by the iconic style of Akira Toriyama’s animations. He wasn’t even mentioned during the yeet throw section which is strange because he has a phenomenal yeet.
Guys I bet Sonic's best animation is the one where he turns into a ball. Edit: Never mind I thought this was the best animation for each character, not best animation for moves.
@@nospinic7117 idk why also the reason why his forward air is like that was because in brawl for sonic the ones that werent a ball were probably copied from another character. his forward air is copied off of falco and for some reason they havent changed him but it makes sense because its sonic in _smash_
I've always been so dissapointed in sonics moveset. He has giant feet, make him use them ffs. Project m did it right by giving him an axe kick for fair.
Look at Wario’s Home-run bat F-smash animation. In fact, every character has about a second of animation of getting their best moon shot. My particular favorite has to be Melee Ganon’s, where he just tries to penetrate the bat into someone’s torso. And that’s just based off of Falcon’s where he follows up the jab with a upward swing into a star K.O., as if he launched his foe through the Z-axis instead of the X-axis.

Also the way he pathetically flaps his arms after up special wears off is pretty funny.
Me
This has less to do with animations, but I love the steps this game took with King K.

Is no one going to talk about the fact that K Rools does a frontflip when he does his down air
Many people don't know
or the fact that he literally flexes on people when he spikes them
Really doing a lot for that disrespect. Gotta admire the effort.
I actually never noticed before until Mock Rock slowed it down for this video. Surprised he didn't mention it at all, it sets it apart from all the other two-legged stomp down air meteors
It's a front flip
I've always been fond of the athletically accurate motions of Little Mac. In such a fantastical game, it really grounds the "just a boxer" aspect of his character. The way he bobs and weaves, jabs, uppercuts, and liver punches are all well studied.
Banjo and K-Rool have the best slapstick animation.
Ridley has the best violent animation.
Zelda has the best Elegant animation.
And Steve has the most accurate animation to his source material.
Mr. Game & Watch is in a battle with Steve, and imo his are better.
@@juanrodriguez9971 while yes. G&W's animations are faithful, id argue Steves was more ambitious.
@@J_dnvg I’d also agree that Steve’s is more “ambitious,” simply because he’s got that creative archetype that G&W can’t really pull from.

I feel like Steve has perfect animations considering where he’s from, they just look so nice.
One of my favorite animations is Luigi’s forward air. If you land with this move, Luigi winces in pain from slamming his hand into the ground, then shakes his hand to ease the pain. It’s so good.
Yea it has so much personality
old ass comment, but yeah. being honest, i HATE the way luigi is portrayed in smash...but his f-air's landing animation is so charming
I've always liked Little Mac's animations in Smash, especially the juxtaposition of his awesome movement and punches on the ground to his "wtf am I doing" in the air. Fits the character and gameplay very well.
People never talk about Squirtle having literally the same exact back throw as Dr.Mario and it makes me sad
If it helps, I think Squirtle's is better just for the image of a tiny turtle hurling a biggum like Ganondorf.
I prefer Mario's back-throw anyways. If Doc's is a yeet, than my man's got an ultra-yeet. And you can smack opponents with it too!
True but the Docs throw has more Oomph and personality behind it. It literally is a chunk them angrily with all your strength type of throw.
Every time I use Docs backthrow I can internally hear him say "Get The Fuck Out Of Here!!!" from his expression.
Joker’s up tilt feels so satisfying to land
I think one of my favourite animated characters is ironically Mr. Game and Watch. I really loved what they did to him in Ultimate.
Narx Magee
I love his walk and run. So derpy.
And at first I was concerned with him morphing into different G&W characters for the correlating moves, but now I wouldn't want him without it. Great references.
That said, the boy for his flag up tilt is pretty out of place for me. It's the only one that I feel doesn't work.
Matching his animations to their source games was one of the best glow-ups for any returning veteran
wario actually uses his mouth when f-smashing with the homerun bat
I think Dedede's up there as well. His face is the frickin best and he gets a lot of bonus points for being one of the only characters to viably taunt online with that 11/10 crouch.
I'm surprised Terry didn't get anything on this list with how flashy a lot of his moves are
Terry has best animated back special
His final smash is SOOOOOO well animated, that you almost WANT to get hit by it!
Fr I got really sad
I know that Terry technically automatically wins the Super Special category, but I'd still like to say that Buster Wolf and Power Geyser still knock it out of the park animation-wise. They did an incredible job on both of these, with the moment of impact on Buster Wolf holding a ridiculous amount of weight and power, plus the grace of the move after a canceled normal, and how Power Geyser's animation is a much more emphatic and expressive version of Power Wave, which always struck me as super cool.
Buster Wolf is such a well animated move. It's only helped by Terry's badass voicelines.
Does finishing touch count as a "Super Special" move?
And don't forget about him having the best back special
@@CoinBox170 I wouldn't say so, since it could technically fit into the category of "Powered up Down B" similar to the difference between Rebel's Guard and Tetrakarn/Makarnakarn, as opposed to Terry's moves available exclusively with their special inputs. Although Finishing Touch is a pretty cool move. :)
Lmao who the hell else has a "Super Special"

I feel like most best animations are either from mid to low tier
Mewtwo and Kirby are some of my favorites, but they suck competitive-wise.
Mewtwo is pretty decent, and Kirby isn't good by any means but I don't think he's low tier
Because they are big and exaggerated, which make them slow, but also meaty and fun to hit.
It like better the animation, the worst fighter you are.
probably because most top tiers have good frame data, which doesn’t leave much move time to make a really fancy animation
A character that literally taunts every attack he hits has definitely got some of best animations
Surprised he wasn't in the honourable mentions for F-smash or Side Special.
His side B and down smash are just epic
Not to mention He also gets aggravated when his attacks don’t hit.
Incineroar has the best after-attack taunts, Terry has the best back-special, and Terry also has the best Super Specials.
I'm super biased here but I love how ridley is animated. They did a great job relaying that he is here to kill you and all of his moves give that feel of impact and violent efficiency. Except down air. Fuck down air
You forgot to mention how K Rool literally does a flip before down airing. Literal Chad.
and the flex at the end to top it off
@@carlkoopa7389 if we want to talk about flexing, can we talk about incineroar’s built in taunts? My guy flexes after every move he hits. It’s satisfying as hell to hit a forward smash or up smash and watch your opponent get tilted while incineroar endlessly taunts them.
I'm surprised you didn't mention entrance animations.

Mewtwo main detected. Nah jk really every character is super well animated. They did a really good job for every character
The particle effects are fantastic
Mewtwo's throws look the best imo
I personally feel incineroar has the best animated side b, with his look of dissatisfaction if you whiff or get the weaker version, and the pure elation to get the sweet spot
What I've learned is that heavy Characters have great animations
Yeah their large frames and slower moves are better for distinct animations
Banjo's down throw is one of my favorite smash animations ever. The glee and the swift thud just SLAYS me.
I still love almost all of Incineroar’s animations, he really feels like a wrestler who just tries to look flashy for the audience.
You know which animation is good as well?
Your intro
It’s godlike
I usually don't pay attention to animations, but great videos like this make me realize just how beautifully animated this entire game is. Great work!
Haha, that's the goal!
I think what makes Zelda's up smash so satisfying is the fact it's a powerful and beautiful multi-hitting attacking. Showing off her grace and magical prowess, and her facial expressions, cuz she's cute
my favorite f-smash is definitely ken, as a martial artist it's awsome to see how both correct and expresive it is.
I think Ryu's f-smash deserves a spot on the list. Just like King Dedede's face plant, the massive build-up involving the drawback and then the kick (without counting the sound effect) really shows you the raw power and mastery of body attacks.
I feel like sound effects should have been taken into effect here. I can hear all these moves just as much as I could see them so elegantly done
And other effects like zooms
Yeah, or it could be a separate video. Sound design really makes some of these moves; I can understand why he went with Shulk's up-B for the honorable mention, but the sound on Marth and Lucina's makes Dolphin Slash the winner of that style in my book.
oh no I'm getting flashbacks to sonic and his constant whirring

Her back air is really creative, and I love how it pushes her forward
i'm personally a really big fan of rob's up throw animation, something about the timing and the way he bobs up and down has always been really memorable to me
Ganondorf's forward tilt is one of my personal favorites. Seeing him punt characters across the stage will always be funny to me.
The fact that it's weaker than his down tilt really kills it for me
Low-key, Robin’s multijab is sick.
I'm surprised you didn't mention Snake for down throws. I just love how they were able to incorporate that part of MGS PERFECTLY.
Snake's Grab, Pummel, Down Throw, Slow walk and crawling animations are among the best. Maybe he was salty about a Snake beating him.

Lucas has great animations all around
Robin’s down smash is easily the most impactful and satisfying

K Rool, Banjo, Wario, Inkling, Wolf
Update: Yeah, 3 out of 5 ain’t bad. I will say: no Kirby or Pac-Man for idle?
Pac man has best crawl easily
And Steve?
Maybe I’m biased because he’s my main, but I’ve always loved the animation for Plant’s back air. The way he opens his mouth to inhale, then closes it and spins (like, with a lot of his moves, managing to give a plant a facial expression, this one of concentration), gathering the fire in his mouth, then expelling it all through a small opening to create a huge burst, while retaining a smug grin. It’s so fluid yet you can still see every part in full detail.
I think ness's down air is amazing, really cool particles and the spin he does ties it all together
I think d-smash for me goes to Byleth. You really get a sense of the power of the move when you see them wind up Aymr, and the way they swoop it down and let the weight of the axe spin them around feels raw. The end lag where they have to regain their posture sells the overwhelming power of the move too.
I like King Dedede’s up smash animation. You can tell from his face that he put all his might into that swing.
You can just hear the Yeet under Dr. Mario's Breathe.
You can feel it.
*hear
I internally hear him say "Get the fuck out!!!"
I agree i love playing as him it he’s just so expressive.
His forward smash is my fav taunt.
His missed side-B is also very funny.
14:55 I think Wario's Home Run Bat animation actually has him hold it with his teeth too, in Brawl at least?
Not an animation, but Ridley's idle sfx is unnerving. It's a gutteral snarl that reflects him being an vicious monster & a malicious intellect that is pissed off at the player wasting his time.
I would definitively mention Mewtwo's up-smash as the spin feels like Zelda's but more mystifying and reminds one of a spinning galaxy.
Man K. Rool dominated this with 2 wins and 4 honorable mentions, not including the lightning round.
Umm, just wanted to mention in King K Rool's down air, he does a flip just to really put extra momentum on his side
Edit: also Wario used the Home-run bat in his mouth as well as dash-attack
I’d say DK has the best taunts. Goofy, intimidating and expressive. Great video!
Edit: Never mind I thought this was the best animation for each character, not best animation for moves.
ok makes sense
Not gonna lie I think his f-smash is quite "sonic"
@@nospinic7117 idk why also the reason why his forward air is like that was because in brawl for sonic the ones that werent a ball were probably copied from another character. his forward air is copied off of falco and for some reason they havent changed him but it makes sense because its sonic in _smash_
I've always been so dissapointed in sonics moveset. He has giant feet, make him use them ffs.
Project m did it right by giving him an axe kick for fair.
@@MsDestroyer900 well you see it represents his games
Look at Wario’s Home-run bat F-smash animation. In fact, every character has about a second of animation of getting their best moon shot.
My particular favorite has to be Melee Ganon’s, where he just tries to penetrate the bat into someone’s torso. And that’s just based off of Falcon’s where he follows up the jab with a upward swing into a star K.O., as if he launched his foe through the Z-axis instead of the X-axis.
