    I actually like his version better than the original, which has a very basic drum line. I just noticed that while he is doing his 3-stick magic, at the same time he is switching between single and double pedal, he is also using his left foot to open and close his left hi-hat. Absolutely insane.

    My nephew was born a year ago. Had some issues sleeping so I started taking him with me for naps, first I played Journey faithfully....and he fell asleep..Then it was Faithfully, Love Bites, Wind of Change and I wanna Know What Love is and he was always falling asleep.
    One day I observed him waving his arms up and down like he was playing the drums so, I tried something out. I just put video's up with drummers. Within a month he was falling asleep to Estepario S. videos. Everyday now..we listen to his videos and for some reason they sooth him and allow him to fall asleep.. well after about two minutes of him trying to imitate Estepario.

    I have seen many EES videos now, and the algorithm has shown me many "reacts to" videos as well as a result. Very often, the people reacting are not contributing anything at all, and are instead trying to (and succeeding) in surfing along. You, on the other hand, add your genuine, heartwarming and well-informed reactions and actually make watching his video more entertaining. I'd say you're Asmongold-good in reacting. Cheers!

    Funny how it is so flawless that you can hardly notice he is using 3 drum sticks, twice!, in the song.
    I can see how he gets his 3rd stick involved, how he holds it (to some degree), but i cannot pinpoint when, and how, he gets rid of the 3rd stick again.
    This guy ofc was born with a talent for drumming and keeping a beat, but this level he is at, takes 1000's and 1000's of hours practice on just the techniques alone, let alone the countless of hours perfecting all those techniques to a point that he can use them at will at any time he needs or wants it, this is what dedication gets you. He's unreal.

    You know, I watch Danny Carey playing Pneuma, or Neil playing half of the Rush discography and they're absolutely phenomenal. Two of my all-time favorite drummers, but the Groovefather here... His technique is so disgustingly tight, clean, efficient, and interesting. It still feels a bit strange to say he's the best drummer I've ever seen, but it's more or less true. You don't develop this level of technique without a very deep understanding of the instrument and just music generally.

    You looked away as he grabbed the third stick and then went on a rant about being distracted by the stick toss, then when you played it back the second time, you missed it again coz you put your hand over your face 😂....
    Who's the distracted one here? 😂😂😂

    And you missed it hahaha

    • @roryt1983

      I think it’s because to pro / educated drummers the footwork is more impressive / difficult than the stick flip

    • @DamienMackay
      @DamienMackay 8 місяців тому

      @@roryt1983 an observant person would notice both. I've played in a band with a drummer who owned a dualist so I've seen it in action many times. I also play all the drums on my solo releases. The point I was making was that he was making fun of the stick toss and saying don't get distracted by it and in doing so, he missed the fact that the stick toss gave his right hand a chance to grab the third stick. He didn't mention the third stick at all.
      I'm not giving the stick toss any more importantance than the footwork, I'm just highlighting that he was all like "don't get distracted!" And then proceeded to get distracted 😂

  • @davidkloss2883
    @davidkloss2883 7 місяців тому +1

    At the beginning you mentioned the extra sticks stuck in his pants, but you missed him use them. If you seen it you should have mentioned it.....
    ...because he traded his left stick to his right hand, with a stick flip to his right hand, giving him two sticks in his right hand, while he pulled a extra stick out of his pants with his left hand, then played alternating 16th notes with both right hand sticks on the splash. If that wasn't enough, he then drops one of the right hand sticks to go back using only one stick on each hand, without missing a beat.
    TWICE!
    It's so smooth you don't even notice because his feet are doing such amazing things. When he drops the double right stick it's almost as if it simply disappears. Not only is he master level drumming, but he's genius level composer as well!

    I thought that Dualist pedal was a heel kick switch, and that he was tapping a floor tom(in this case, a modified snare with a deeper tone that he's used in other videos) with his right foot when he takes it off the bass pedal tbh. Regardless whether it's a heel kick switch or he's pulling his foot completely off the bass pedal to make the switch, it's fucking impressive to do that WHILE also playing insanely fast, powerful, and accurate as well as intricately.
    Edit: Also you're correct OldSKule, Both Numb and Blinding Lights are on synthesizers. For Numb, Joe Hahn did all the synth work and then Rob Bourdon added live drums over it. This was also done with Dua Lipas "Break My Heart" where the song was done on Synth, and then Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith did live drums for the track after. Blinding Lights, however, is full synth no live drums so that just further makes what Jorge did even more impressive.

    This guy is rewriting the textbooks for drumming.
    He's like... nah nah nah... that's how we used to do it. This is how we'll be doing it from now on.

    The godlike move is flip the stick to his right. Catches it. Grabs a 3rd stick from his pants. To play double stick with the right WHILE he does the switch on the pedal! And he does the flip trick twice and nailed it 101% both times. He is simply not a human!🤣It almost feels like he does this tiny little mistakes on purpose. To let us think he could be a human after all.😂

    I love this version, he is a master and he is giving it us for free. I think a reaction must be like you do, talking about it. Just watching a video and making faces is not what I'm looking for.

    I'm not a drummer and I noticed the stick flip to 3 sticks both times. EVERY reaction I've seen from drummers has them always missing it and it takes a delicious moment away from me where I'm excited to see their reaction.

    • @brucedklein
      @brucedklein 8 місяців тому

      I've noticed that too. My working theory is that for pro drummers, the stick tricks are among the least impressive things he is doing. Whereas for a non-musician like me, they are flashy and immediately easy to appreciate without explanation, while I need more knowledgeable people to explain what's tricky about the rim hits, gravity blasts, etc etc.

    • @GazerPlur420

      It's because they haven't seen the single-double pedal video he has out and are mesmerized by what it does. People who have already seen that video and know what it does are not too distracted by the footcam therefore able to catch the stick tricks. Every drummer mentions the bass pedal as soon as it comes into play lol
