I do read comments often, but the moment I see a negative one, I walk away. UA-cam definitely takes the cake on positivity and that's one of the reasons I love it so much.

Mr Nate, I’m living Portland, Oregon ahd my family ahd me we’re homeless for 13 months and living in a shelter. I got a state job and finally into a beautiful three bedroom and two full bath’s apartment and I’m enjoying so much, I don’t want to leave it to go anyplace. But, I must get supplies. We’re doing well and all needs are being met. But, Portland Oregon’s homelessness is a total catastrophe and they needs folks like you. Their mostly downtown. I wouldn’t even step out of the car there if I had to. But, hoping you got connections there to help these folks. Keep up the good and fine works your doing. Great job!

Hi Knate! I’m hugely in support of all you do, you’ll find nothing but compliments from me.
I write to you because I’m sure this channel is taking a huge emotional toll on you, and I want to tell you about a book that I think you’d really get something out of.
I know the author, Jack Briggs, and he’s an unbelievable guy. He was a top administrator for New York University (after being a top leader for the Air Force) but a few years ago he gave all that up and became the president & CEO for Springs Rescue Mission, an “industry leading” homeless shelter/program in Colorado.
In his book, Jack essentially proposes a “college campus” structure for homeless shelters.
Summary: Anyone is welcome to the “basic” resources, and they can stay as long as they want. If they begin working with shelter staff on setting goals, etc., then they’re upgraded to a better room. They continue to progress, setting and achieving goals just like a college student would. And, because they’re on a “college campus-style” campus, all the resources they need to get their life back in order are right there for them, eager to engage with them whenever the person experiencing homelessness is interested.
The book is called, “Meeting Homelessness with Hope” by Jack Briggs, et al.
I found the audiobook to be super worthwhile, and it made me think of your channel.
I know it’s “a lot” to recommend a book via a UA-cam comment but I think you’d get a lot out of that book, if you happen to be interested.
The audiobook is great listening material for while you’re driving!

I've heard a number of people ask, "why don't homeless people surrender their pets to a shelter or someone that can care for it?" This lady gave the best reason in the world, the dog is all she has left. It's her companion, friend and constant source of stability. I'd be willing to bet this lady would go hungry rather than see her dog go without. They become an emotional support animal for these folks. Her dog doesn't judge her, doesn't look down on her and loves her unconditionally. You can't replace that.

Ehh I used to work in a shelter and would much prefer they kept their animals. There's already services to get them medical attention or food if needed. We need these pets taken care of by people outside the shelter bc too many animals means some get put down.
The dog needs her too and would die if separated from her.
Besides, a dog would rather be with them than in a kennel.
People who've never really struggled have no clue what it's like. I quit a job in personal care because a client basically told me that I'm too poor to keep a pet.
She's a good woman. Good for her for not giving up her dog, and not sleeping with men for a place to stay.

I have a homeless female friend and her dog staying with me. She has my bedroom and I'm sleeping in the lounge. Her perfect place is available in the next couple of weeks 🎉🎉
I've enjoyed her company but I will miss her dog the most 😂

@@katbow5922 Technically, someone who just tries to provoke a reaction without even meaning what they say. The easiest way is to may people angry by saying mean, false or strange things.
In a broader sense, it can include
- bots (auto-generated content),
- content from troll-farms (state sponsored propaganda, e.g. from Russia)
- haters and Karens, who have a miserable life and try to make life miserable for everyone else because seeing others happy makes them even more miserable

Words keep getting new meanings however I would say this about words : when they are meant to hurt, demean, insult or in any way damage someone ...then those are words a person should keep to themselves. They serve no.purpose.

You're right. In my 65 years on this earth, everything that everyone has given me came with a price. I refuse to be that way. When I give, I give because it's the right thing to do. All I want in return is a 'heartfelt, thank you'. Without gratitude, people because spoiled, & start thinking the world owes them everything. I've led a charmed life, overall, & I am very grateful, not just for what I have received but also for what I have been able to do for my Brothers & Sisters as well.

Dogs are my favorite people. When another human will ignore, hold a grudge or become selfish, a dog will be there for you no matter what. They love so unconditionally... We could learn a lot from them 💖

I've been on the streets and it is constantly with men saying they want to help me out and get me a room, they care about me, but they always want to stay and get their needs taken care of in return.

I have 2 dogs ..15 and 16 years old. They have been w/me since they were born. I had others too, but when I lost my home in 2019 of 18 years, I had nowhere to go and was forced to give the others to a no kill shelter. Well, it just about killed me. I was told they were adopted to good homes, but I dont know that for sure. I still miss them cause they were my home. God Bless this woman and Karma
She is going to need someone to talk to. She is already traumatized and so many get hit with PTSD when they get inside. I hope she can find someone balanced to help see her through. ❤
I paid a lady's storage once. Yes, she was an addict but I went there myself to pay it to make sure. I found out two years later she died 😢

I use to pay for my stuff in storage, when i got the stuff out of storage i realised it wasnt worth the money i paid to keep it warm & dry.
If you can sort through your stuff and keep photos, a few memories ask a friend to store 1 or 2 boxes you free yourself from burden.
Slowly & surely you buy wee bits of furniture from 2nd hand places & it fun and new to you..
All the cash you can save buy letting go of the big stuff or even selling it will set you up somewhere quicker and more managable
God bless her for not giving up her dog or anything else, just to have a roof over her head. She is one very grateful human being, and deserves the best. Kindness, that's all it takes.❤

I respect what she is willing to do just to be able to keep her dog. It's definitely a hard decision to choose between a roof over your head or keeping your dog.
I don't have much family, and I don't have a single friend. My pets have a huge role in my life where they keep me sane and keep me from feeling alone. If I ever have to choose between my pets, and a roof over my head, I'm choosing my pets for sure. I don't have it in me to give them up, no matter the cost.
Hope she finds a place soon where they will allow her to have her dog with her. She had a choice when it came to being in the position she is in, and I respect the choice she made.
Knate, your work is incredible. Please don't stop doing this. It gives inspiration and hope. You're a blessing in this world. Don't forget that.

The people leaving negative comments are the ones who clearly need help. It can only ever boil down to a few things. Hateful, jealous, desperate for attention, no real purpose in life other than to try and bring people down to their low level are just a few that come to mind.

I totally understand why she refuses to abandon her pup. I wasnt technically homeless but I stayed at different family members houses with my pibble Daisey Mae. She was right beside me thru a twrrible divorce and the aftermath. I finally was able to buy a house trailer for us in 2018. She passed from aggressive cancer on her left hind leg during covid. I took her to the vet as soon as they had an opening but it was too late. I kept my promise. She didnt suffer and she didnt die alone She loved me for her entire life and I will continue to love her for the rest of mine. She left this world looking into my brown eyes as I looked into her brown eyes. I had her cremated because I couldnt leave her anywhere. That trailer was not on my property and it served its purpose by keeping us together. I moved to a nice townhouse and Daiseys ashes was the 1st thing I brought in here.
So sorry, they are your world but you are their entire life. You pup will always watch over you ❤ Be safe.

Awesome. Ones expecting a person to give up a pet. If it's a big dog that eats more than u.. too big can be a problem to just feed. But ones alone can NEED a pet. May be last thing that is holding them together. Glad u let Karma be good for a change

What you do reminds me of the "good ol days" when people were friendly and got the word out if someone needed a job.
It's the same for men. I've been homeless for over seventeen months and numerous times men have offered me help but expect favors and I'm a straight man.
Had a guy offer to let me eat, shower and do laundry so I was happy but as soon as we got on the road he started asking things I was not into.
I made him let me out and tried hitchhiking back but had to walk over three hours since no one would pick me up.
Had other men try similar.
It's terrible even as a man people try to use you.

@@lost_ducks Thank you and I've been in a new state where nothing like that has happened at least. Been getting close to getting something going for myself and have a days work set up for Thursday and the guy is trying to help get me a job with housing but if not I may work very part time helping with ship maintenance. Think he felt bad that after my interview he said he had one more interview Friday but he contacted me today to let me know the company hired some guy who had been there previously and knew the standard operating procedures already etc.
Things may be looking up finally as I've been at my all time low for awhile now.
