Hi Knate, just a suggestion. I am a nutritionist. Please add a bottle of water to the order, when they ask for food and drink, even if they don't ask for it. They'll drink it when they have nothing else and/or they'll use it to wash, brush their teeth, etc. Thank you for everything you do ❤️.

I wonder if this kind of undergarment could be bought in bulk and have them for women in the backpack that you hand out? They come in several sizes. I would think extra large would be a good size to get in bulk.

Nothing for our own citizens. 😡
New York City signs $77M contract with hotels to house illegal migrants many in NYC hotels one being the Roosevelt Hotel In Manhattan, here are a few more that were taken over by illegals -- The Crowne Plaza Times Square, The Westin New York Grand Central, The New Yorker, A Wyndham Hotel, YOTEL New York Times Square,
Gov. Kathy Hochul proposed and gained the sum of $2.4 billion to house migrants without homes.
New York City alone not to mention other cities and states dealing with this national crisis, opened well over 210 emergency sites to accommodate more than 150,000 illegals providing immediate shelter, clothing, cash, food, medical services and even cell phones. Illegal “immigrants” get benefits and can also apply for separate benefits on behalf of their children.

Homeless Americans receive little to nothing at all. Ppl need to wake up and understand whats happening.

A winter coat to stop the frigid winds from tearing through your chest & long wool skiing socks to keep your feet dry & warm. Those two items are invaluable. Oh, & a good pair of gloves & a wool scarf would round out the winter outerwear.
I went to college in Tampa. The weather temperature didn't go very low but the wind chill factor was brutal. We were between the Gulf & the Bay & boy, those crosswinds used to rip through my chest & into my bones.

At a key point in my life I was motivated to help someone like myself. Same age and gender. I had a folding metal grocery cart. Lined it w a big garbage bag and filled out up. The rest of the garbage bags inside. Tarps, rope, duct tape, clamps, hammock, clothes, toiletries, 1st aid, a whistle for safety. It was so full it was overwhelming. So I found a tent city with staff. I asked them if a woman my age lived there. Then I asked them to help her know how to use or barter the supplies. Harbor freight and dollar tree were great resources.

Knate, I feel your pain when it comes to women's clothing. Sizing is different depending on the brand and a lot of it seems to be made cheaply so that it'll get ruined and we'll need to buy more.
When you're picking stuff up for women, your backpacks are really good. They have the necessities. But when it comes to pants and coats, I'd recommend that you ask the ladies if they mind you get at least some of it from the men's department. Men's sizes stay pretty static and are usually higher quality. If they still want women's clothing, that's fine. It doesn't hurt to ask.
    Keep up the great work!

I've owned those same boots, they are inexpensive steel toes that just work. Something people don't consider when thinking about steel toes, they absorb temperature like crazy, so they can get cold, but if you are warm elsewhere, your body exerts a lot of heat out of your feet. Those boots lasted me over a year at a 40 hour/week job.

    • @elainegoad9777

Yes, but steel toe boots can be weight heavy for an older woman with weaker legs to trudge around in. I would be able to deal with the weight. Waterproof is better so as to stay dry.

I don't understand how there isn't a place for shelter during this kind of weather. I know they used to have people go out and pick up the homeless during storms here in the Boston area and bring them to shelters. This poor dear lady needs to be brought somewhere. Even animals have shelters they can be brought to. It's ridiculous that this isn't being addressed .

    • @sarafletch

There is shelters but they are bed bug ridden, not safe for woman a lot of the time and a lot of Theft happens there. If someone doesn’t have a severe drug addiction they are probably pretty unbearable places to sleep. Also they were picking up homeless people and they were going missing. I remember that whole thing, it was horrible.

    Get layers for cold weather.
Long underwear, silk or polyester thermal pants and long sleeve undershirt.
And/or leggings (some are lined with very soft velvety velour texture for extra warmth).
Then denim pants or sweat pants over that.
For outdoors in snow, literally get snow pants.
For tops, get polyester feels like silk oversized long sleeve to go over the long underwear shirt, add an over shirt like a sweat shirt or velour pullover. Add a poly filled "down" vest. Then a warm coat.
For even extra warmth (and for staying dry) add rain gear. A rain suit, or full length rain slicker cost, and a wide brimmed rain hat.

I miss the Wintersilks™ catalog company. Apparently they no longer exist.
They had amazing long thermal under layers made of silk and silk blends.
They came in different "ratings" for different levels of cold weather.
But what was amazing was how warm they worked. And yet very thin, lightweight, not bulky under clothes, and didn't overheat you when you went indoors.
Also they still kept you warm even when they got wet, and dried relatively quickly too.
I like cotton for summertime, but not for winter wear especially if out in the rain.
I've never tried wool, expect in socks.
(Wintersilks™ also used to sell silk sock liners too)

I wanted to also thank you JK, for inspiring me and my husband. We don't have kids so for Christmas we took the money we would have spent on eachother and helped some of the homeless people in our area. We ordered from Amazon and Walmart and Temu. I spent days scouting for deals to get the most for our money so we could help as many people as possible. I checked wishlists on your channel and other channels like Pete's Promise and Goodness in People. So we ended up giving out 18 full brand new backpacks set up like yours except no shirts or underwear. They had hygiene packs like yours, also wipes, gloves, beanies, fleece neck gaiters, and socks. We have out 50 pair of warm socks, 30 queen size blankets that were a wool cotton blend that's water resistant and mold and mildew resistant. And we did 25 food bags with protein (PB and jelly, vienna sausages, and a choice of either the big tuna pouches or the flip topped can of chicken) and bread to make 2 sandwiches, 2 bags of chips, extra various snacks, and a sweet of some kind (jello, cookies, pudding, or homemade Christmas sweets like reece's style chocolate peanut butter balls, and fudge). And 1 tent. We scouted out a place where people are allowed to set up tents safely and for free. We made up a channel to show what we are doing and giving out to people so we can hopefully get donations so we can do this on a regular basis. That's my heart cry! Helping people in need is heavy on my heart, and my husband's heart as well. I bought a chest mount camera and memory card online and filmed everything. Sadly the camera messed up or malfunctioned so we don't have the footage. But we have warm people during this bad weather. That does my heart good. I'm figuring out another filming set up and gathering more things. We will focus now on a couple of people at a time until we get some kind of help to expand to helping more people. But I'm following your advice from a couple of months ago. You said start where you are and then you told the story of your delivery driving days so you could earn the money to help someone. You're such an inspiration! Thank you for the encouragement to start helping. It's a passion for helping people, loving others, showing compassion and kindness. We can make a difference one person at a time.
    Our channel is called: compassionfromjesus
I haven't posted anything yet but as soon as I get a camera that works then I will start posting. I'm making a introduction video and then as I pack things I'll film that too.
Lots of respect, love, and huge hugs to you, Brother 💞🙏

@@dfoot636 thank you for the tip. I'm working on clothing donations to have on hand so people have options for fresh clothes and warmth. Especially after seeing the video of the lady who had no pants. I cried and cried over that. Imagine how she felt having to tell a strange man she had no pants. Thank God it was Knate but still. I can't imagine her embarrassment and humiliation and fear. I want to help others not have to go through that. Our only clothing donations places in my area is resale shops and goodwill which some of their prices are higher than Walmart. If I have donations on hand in my car then I can help at a moment's notice. I grew up dirt poor. At times we lived with Mom's friends or in a open one room studio apartment. Mom and 3 kids all in one room and sleeping in one bed. One time we lived in a cheap motel next to a biker bar because she had just left my brother's dad who was an alcoholic and abusive. All she could afford was that room. But we had a roof over our head. She always tried her best to make sure we were not fully out on the street and we had food. Sometimes it was hot dogs for a week or mac and cheese or potatoes for a week. She did her best. As an adult, I have always helped people when I see them out, if I had the means. I'm disabled from being passenger in 2 different car accidents. My back is messed up and I'm in a wheelchair. So I never really thought I could do this like we are now. But we did! We can't do what we did for Christmas without help from others but we can do something for a couple of people regularly. That's what we are doing now. I haven't tried to record anything since the camera malfunctioned but just helping and knowing I am helping is the important thing right now. I'm working on a camera situation and then I will record. But seeing the people sigh of relief that they had a blanket now. One couple we bought a tent for, the lady cried. It was right before the severe weather hit last week we bought a tent and told them where the land we scouted was so they could camp safely and for free. She cried. He said we changed their whole lives. Our area saw ice and snow with temps down to -25 for a couple nights with last week the day temps every day was even below freezing. It is good for the heart to know that we are helping when we can where we can. 💞

Advice about buying for women: I'd personally choose form over fashion! As long as they aren't too petite, I'd buy men's sweatpants and sweaters because they are much thicker. I do this with my daughter's clothing as well. Then you can add a feminine touch with accessories, like scarfs and hats.

Walmart sells foil auto windshield screens to keep the sun out. I've found them for 5$ each. They make excellent floor mattress to keep the cold ground away. And I've used them like a blanket and they reflect my body heat back into me while I sleep. They don't"fit" the body snugly, but that's OK. Just get in your sleeping bag and lay out on your top layer. If wind is an issue, get little clamps from the dollar tree to keep it from blowing off. Thank you for your work.
