HI. I've BMPCC 6K Pro and Small Rig Full Cage and I've just purchased DJI Rs 2 and I'm facing difficulties in few things. Hope to get some advice and help for some knowledge that helps me to get resolution. 1) I used T5 SSD and that's connected via USB-C to Camera. Now to connect Raven Eye what should I do. 2) Focus Motor is far Away, and if I use the other option provided by DJI it's actually not working as small rig has SSD slot in bottom. 3) How to connect Camera to Gimbal as USB C is used in External Media T5 Storage.
I had the same question and I realised the RS 3 and RS 3 pro is the best solution. You can connect the camera via Bluetooth with the RS3 gimbal and use all the features the gimbal has. You then have the usb port free to use for the SSD.
What if you put back the lens cap on the lens, once you turn on the gimbal .... ? Does it mess things up ? Asking because i have a variable diopter in front my of lens setup .... And the variable diopter glass moving forward or backward a little ... it'll change the balance, so i'm worried about wether it'd work or not.
SSD in the cage maaaaaaybe. I'm probably leaning towards no and you couldn't use a 3rd party wireless follow focus. Too much weight. The RS 2 comes with a little focus motor so you can control focus on the gimbal itself.
Nice, but what about the follow focus motor. With the cage, the focus motor doesn’t reach the lense😅 Any ideas? Maybe a plate with a double screw? Can’t find any..
We've had quite a few questions about the focus motor. Basically you have to use counter weights for the weight issue as for reach, yah could work. We're not too sure ourselves haha
I got mine to balance nicely in same cage with the Samsung T5. Needed counterweights available from SmallRig. Only problem is if you want to connect Gimbal to Camera then your USB is already in use with the Samsung T5? I cant think of a work around...?
As someone with this same setup, it's an absolute nightmare to put together. This is the about the max for this gimbal because of the shape of the bmpc6kp, any slight shift and the motors will heat up too much.
You're not wrong! After we made this video, we were putting the 6K Pro on the gimbal again for a job, and we legit couldn't get it balanced 😂 we had to come back and watch this video haha the line is VERY thin on balancing this thing.
It's doubtful, not without counter weights anyway. But we just got the RS3 Pro and that can handle quite a bit more weight so we'll be doing a video on that soon!
I tried it with my sigma 24-70 , couldn’t balance the roll , i can see you haven’t inserted the Samsung T5 which kinda mess with the balancing , have you tried with the full rig? Focus motor + t5 , please let me know, thanks
Oh really? We've balanced it with the Sigma 24-70 before, that's interesting.... Yah we don't record to SSD's we just record to 256GB CFAST cards. We haven't tried balancing with a focus yet, no. We have a wireless follow focus, I'd be curious how much more difficult it would be to balance.
Hey guys, quick question... do you record the footage to an external ssd? or do you use CFAST cards? Have you tested this setup with a Samsung T5 SSD mounted?
We've only ever recorded to CFAST cards. We'll use 256GB cards which at 6K RAW will give us like 60mins of record time. We've never tried SSD's unfortunately. In terms of speed, CFAST is still the way to go.
would you still get this gimbal for this cam or would you get the rs3 pro for balancing better? The only reason I'm looking at the 3 is because it has a longer arm. Thanks!
Where can I find that cage specifically? I cant find it anywhere online. Help please! I have the magic rig cage and it does not allow for the 6k pro to balance on the dj rs 2.
We would say it walks riiiiight up to the line of being "the best gimbal" for this camera. If you wanna do JUST a camera and a small lens for most shoots, you're good to go! But anymore accessories and it can't really deal with the weight and you'd have to get counter balances.
I can get it balanced but when i tilt, the camera doesn't stay in place like yours. It goes all over the place. What can I do because it seems like any position i try i can't get it like that.
Keep trying! The point between perfect balance and flying over all over the place is RAZOR thin. Super annoying, but once you nail it, you'll never forget.
For the life of me, I followed every step here but mine wouldn't balance! Camera keeps falling to the right and I have ran out of adjustment on the gimbal! Any suggestion would be great please or maybe even close up pictures of your adjustments. Spent plenty time but no luck so gave up
with the RS2, it's very fine line where it's perfectly balanced. If you're still having issues, you may need a counter balance. But try again, and just try milimeters at time haha
