    As ironic as this is, I have the 6K Pro and a 6K and just decided to rig the 6k for the rs2 lol. I ditched the crane 3s for a number of reasons. Glad to see I wasn’t the only one as excited to see it work haha.

      I have the RS3 (not pro) and the 6k with the 18-35. The camera does not seem to fit and definitely appears to be too front heavy. Is the RS2 that different than the 3? The body of the camera seems to be too wide to slide all the way on.

    I ran this exact rig for weddings last year (except I ran a cable to an npf battery attached to my belt).
    It works great, but man does it get heavy on long shoot days.
    I recently went though and rigged out my camera for handheld and tripod use. It's a lot more manageable this way, and now I'm only planning on using the gimbal for the 'getting ready' and 'private couple shoot.'

    Could have bought a vest and mount a Flycam on it. That way you also solve a problem of your arms getting tired and then you can mount a Nucleus Nano onto an arm and pull focus with one hand whilst steering the Flycam with another. Also could have kinda used a V-mount as a counterweight down there on a Flycam.

    Have an RS2 for a week or so now and have not been able to balance it once yet. One of my main concerns is the quick release plate for the RS2. I feel it is never tight enough so there is always so slight movement or shift when I am manipulating the camera to balance it. I been wondering if there is a plate that gives you two points of screwage, rather than just the one.
    Very frustrating for this to see so simple for literally everyone else and I can't get it. Feels like a 1,000 paperweight at this point.

I have the pocket 4k, cage, zhyun crane 2 with focus gear + servo, no extra monitor, npf plate on cage, and my arms struggle with longer shoots... I've done weddings in the past but not with a pocket 4k yet...so my next purchase is a budget spring arm and vest😅. Nice to see a video just about the gear with no dogs, cats, kidz, or other animals taking up 5mins of the video👍🏼🙏🔥.... Theres other vids out there where they talk about their new pet for 10min....😂, all the best from the UK, London👍🏼 edit - I just saw your other vid with the flycam. 😂

Personally, I think getting used to it is way better than adding more gear to the equation to solve the problem. At weddings, I like to keep things simple and foolproof.

    Do you prefer the Sigma 18-35 on the RS2 over your old Sigma 17-50 for weddings ? I get wobbles on my BMPCC6K/RS2 from my 18-35 because it's so long and heavy, so I was thinking about selling it for the 17-50 which is more compact for weddings. I'm curious about your take since you have experience with the same lens/camera/gimbal set-up.

    • @powellfilmmaking
      @powellfilmmaking  Рік тому

      For focal range and weight, the 17-50 was nice, but the sigma is so much sharper, and better in low light. It's simply a higher end lens. You shouldn't have any problems balancing your BMPCC 6K and Sigma 18-35, if you do, be sure to get some counterweights to balance it properly!

    I’ve been looking into this rig, but my only question is, if you have an adjustable lens you wouldn’t be able to adjust the length because that would throw the balance off right? For those that use this rig, do y’all just pick a length and work around it?

      For internal zoom lenses like the 18-35, you literally can't tell a difference in balance. For lenses like the Sigma 24-70, (which I use all the time as of right now) I balance at around 50mm and the balance is "good enough" to handle it at higher and lower focal lengths. Hope this helps!

    2) Focus Motor is far Away, and if I use the other option provided by DJI it's actually not working as small rig has SSD slot in bottom.

      Hey there! Sounds like your main problem is that the pocket 6k pro needs like 3 USB C ports haha!
      To solve the T5 issue, I'd highly recommend getting SiliconPower Cfast 2.0 cards instead. They don't break the bank and they are recommended by blackmagic design.
      I don't personally use the raveneye, but it sounds like you might have to choose between camera control and the raveneye. I would look further into it.

    I've been thinking about buying a stabilizing rig for a while, and I’ve seen your videos like 10 times.
    Talking about results, I find the steady cam stabilization more fluid than the gimbal, I think it’s due to the motors. In this moment I use a camera with great auto focus, but I know that in the future I will like to improve my set up to maybe something like blackmagic. Could you please recommend me if I should start by a flycam or if you think that is better to go for a ronin with the option to focus with it?
    Thank you in advance, I love your content.

      If you have autofocus, I would say get a flycam, or glidecam and invest in the time to properly learn it! However if you are a one man crew without autofocus, I would advise to go with the ronin. Being able to manually pull focus so easily while stabilizing has been a total game changer for me and insures I'll nail the shot!

    Did you have any issues calibrating the Rs2's focus motor with the Sigma 18-35? I read that problems may occur due to the fact that the Sigma doesn't have any hard stops. So the automatic calibration of the focus motor may not work. Could you please shed any light?

    • @powellfilmmaking
      @powellfilmmaking  2 роки тому +1

      Automatic calibration doesn't work, but you can manually calibrate it in the menu, it's very easy and then you don't have to worry about it again until you switch lenses!

      @@breslonovic You're welcome! For weddings I use a 512 GB card and I can almost always do a whole wedding day with just one. I shoot 5.7K BRAW 12:1 compression, and usually change the compression to 8:1 for receptions because of low light.

    Hey there! I ended up building pretty much this exact rig (first time using a gimbal, so using this as a guide seemed like a safe bet!), and for some reason, the connection between the vmount plate and the battery itself seems rather loose and has a bit of give to it.
    Did you experience this as well?

    • @powellfilmmaking
      @powellfilmmaking  2 роки тому

      Glad to hear this video was helpful to you! Mine is just a little bit loose, it seems normal for a standard mount such as v-mount. Mine hasn't been enough to cause issues. You could try applying some tape or something to either the mounting plate, or the surface of the battery itself to take up space in the gap between the battery and the mount.

      I have not tried it, but I don't see why it wouldn't. The 6k pro is bigger but this rig has plenty of flexibility for balancing, so I would bet it works fine.
