I always love watching your videos, I’ve said it many times. One thing that stands out, apart from what ever you’re making, is just how nice your tongues are. The way you’ve designed them and just the way they look. They always look very well made and professional especially with the brass that you rub onto them. The tongues you made for me are still as good as the day I got them and the brass has kept them from rusting. I just got back from Taipei. I was only there for a little over 2 days. I couldn’t remember if that’s where you live but if I’m out that way again I’ll take you for a beer. Keep doing what you do and take care my friend.
That pair of tongs I used in this video were well suited for the job. I don't always use just the right tong in videos as many of my own tongs are cast off rejects and prototypes. But I'm taking time to improve my own tooling through making / purchasing. I'm surprised you were here - small world - I am indeed in Taipei. I know where the beer joints are... Thanks for sure.
You can have a dedicated countersink or what I've found is older, ground down punches which have lost their fine taper can be a good substitute. Thanks.
Excellent work as always. Very clean forging you did on it. Lots of people get decorative work to hot, and it makes it overly oxidize which I'd a pain to deal with if you want it to come out clean. Great shape on the handle also. I'm always glad to see your videos! Keep them coming. 👍👍
I typically don't like to secure my anvils down (permanently) and being that they are small and are on rubber mats, they tend to jump. Not good, I know, but I'm stubborn. However, the horned anvil, which I rarely use, jumps too much and I need to get it a better position. Thanks.
Good stuff. You ever do everything with a railroad spike?? I know there’s a million videos out there of railroad spike stuff. Just was wondering what you would come up with with a railroad spike.
Railroad spikes are rare here. I do have a few that I brought back form the US and am planning to do something with one or two of them. Still haven't thought of what I will do but I will do something... Thanks.
Very nice video when I get my Forge running I look forward to making those kinds of projects. Looking forward to the peddinghaus Anvil video. Not sure if that is the correct spelling of the Anvil name sorry.
Great video, completely agree - machine made just has no detail or embellishment! Keep hammering! All the best. Are you still doing the touchmarks? Might forward another design. Cheers, Al.
I think this is why I was drawn to blacksmithing, the simplest of things can really look artistic. The first punch you used that creates the plug, is the entire edge diameter a crisp 90 degree angle ? Thanks Glenn. 🔨
With H13, I just heat to critical temperature, then take out of the forge and set aside to air cool. In my opinion, this is all that is needed for this type of steel for blacksmiths like ourselves. And I sometimes do this twice; cycle the steel twice through heating and cooling. Thanks.
Simple often looks the best. I like it. Thanks for sharing.
I agree. I admire intricate stuff that I cannot do but prefer to use more simple looking items. Thanks.
I like the style of the handle you made.
Thanks for your support - both by watching and purchasing a tool. I'll be in touch.

As usual, a very informative video! I like your style.
Countersinking with a punch... gonna remember that one.
Well done, I like it.

Very nice Blacksmithing Glen. Thank you.
I appreciate you taking the time to watch. Thanks.
Really nice design. It should be plenty heavy duty for that door sure!
I definitely fullered the top end too much. But in a way, it makes it seem more delicate. Works for me. Hope you are doing well. Thanks.
Really nice door handle.. really like those tongs. I have a pair of your tongs the best ones I have.
Thanks for your support and for your kind words. My business runs largely off of word of mouth / recommendations.
Good project to try. I agree about the fullering though
I wasn't thinking ahead when I fullered that area. Live and learn... Thanks.

Simple but cool door handle . Agreed ur anvil jumps

Will do the job Glen, one end looked really thin, hope it doesn't break on you. Can't wait for the southfork one.
I was concerned about that thin end. I don't think it will break but I wasn't thinking ahead when I fullered that one time. Thanks.

Very nice door handle sir!!!
It works for me. Thanks as usual.

I've been meaning for forever to use my small Peddinghaus in a video. Will get that into a video some time soon. Thanks for watching.

Hi and yes, I am still helping those interested get marks made. How are things with you guys? I wish you the best. Thanks for your support.

Thanks Glenn. 🔨
Yes, for punches like this you want the edge to be as crips as possible and without radius. Thanks.
Hey Glen, Love the punch! Good timing or just coincidence? Great video as always.
A little of both. I wanted to make a small, simple punch like this and talking about round punches with you spurred me on. Thanks.
Really nice video. That H-13 punch you made, did you have to heat treat before you could use it?
