By far one of the most beautiful versions of this tune. Most of the versions available are played way to emotional but these musicians understand that the emotion is in the melody and you shouldn't emphasize that in the playing style. Very well done!!
I Heard A Summer Swan Call On The Stillness Of The Air I Heard A Blackbirds Song Then I Knew That You Were Near My Heart So Long Alone It Took My Soul Alone To Hear All The Hunger Of My Life Was Just To Know That You Are Near. Just The First Verse Of A Lyric Which I Wrote As My Own Response To This Beautiful Music.
These sounds run deep, this music hits a spot within me.. Family sent to Australia in 1860's, rest followed never to see home again.. These sounds would have been in their memory
I guess there is only Lasairfhíona who sings it as a song? I first her it in 2002 on RnaG :) just after I hear that en-dro set by Padeig Sicard. Love at first hearing. Then my friend Valérie from Inis Mór who knows her parents well gave be her signed alboim An Raicín Álainn.
It sure is a tune that I've heard in so many different versions over the decades, some of them good, some of them bad. What I really like about their rendition here is that they're giving a distinctly continental twist to that battered old tune. Smashing.

So beautiful 🥹

Very well said. Beautiful tunes like this can be ruined by playing in a self-absorbed manner. This version is more inspiring.

I use to play this tune not so fast...
Lovely rendition of this tune! If I may ask, what's the microphone setup that you're using for the fiddle?
It's an Audio Technica Pro35.
@@paulyoungfolk thank you!
Is there a bass track added, or is that the accordion?
No, sorry, I didn't see that. It must be the melodeon, whatever that is.
The melodeon is the accordion and it's that.
