As an Irishman, seeing Japanese musicians, whose musical culture I love, play the music of my country, it fills my heart with joy. Inis Oírr was the first piece of music to make me cry because of sheer beauty, and I've been singing the butterfly all day today while walking through Dublin city. To then find this is a blessing. Go raibh míle, míle maith agaibh!

I was also relieved to see it back on UA-cam. This is the version that I play on the violin, and always love hearing this version of Inisheer.

WHY wasn't this recommended to me years ago.. It is so so beautiful, even more so when being appreciated and played with such feeding, such emotion by a fellow beautiful culture. There are rare moments, very rare moments when you are witness to somethng beautiful, indescribable beyond words. For me this sone of those precious moments. This is going on and staying on my playlist. Thank you so much for this wonderful surprise.

My father transcribed Inisheer to sheet music for me from a long forgotten CD of Irish music. I was probably 9, and had been playing bluegrass and Irish fiddle for a few years. 25 years later it is still my favorite song. I lost it for a while, and when I found it again it was here. Far better than I'd ever heard it. Just amazing. Truly a beautiful, and nostalgic set.

    I Heard A Summer Swan
Call On The Stillness Of The Air
    I Heard A Blackbirds Song
Then I Knew That You Were Near
    My Heart So Long Alone
It Took My Souls Alone To Hear
All The Hunger Of My Life
Was Just To Know That You Are Near.
Just The First Verse Of A Lyric Which I Wrote As My Own Response To This Beautiful Music.

Nice 'classical' performance of these beautiful Irish tunes...although I'd never play The Congress Reel that fast! I'd like to point out that although you've listed these as 'traditional' tunes, they are contemporary compositions. 'The Butterfly' slipjig was written by Dublin fiddler Tommy Potts (1912-1988), and Inisheer was composed by Thomas Walsh, a great accordion player who lives in Dunboyne, and is a friend of mine. Here's hoping you'll give proper credit to Thomas Walsh in particular. Many people who perform his awesome tune 'Inisheer' do not realize who wrote it or that they need proper licensing from his publishing company, etc. It sounds as though it has been around for centuries, doesn't it?!

Sorry, I don't think that the last tune at 5:30 is The Congress reel. It's rather "Mulqueen's reel" also know as "Free and Easy".

I really wanted to hear the entire symphony play Inisheer. I have found it is ALWAYS underdone. Unfortunately, it remains so. Still lovely, but criminal lack of use of the entire ensemble.

Great but please don’t classicify it with too much vibrato.
