Martha, probably the most underrated Companion in the modern revival of Doctor Who. She was smart, stunning, feisty and fiercely loyal- God, I wish she got more love from the fans. But since she was sandwiched between the Drama of the Rose/Doctor relationship and then the huge impact Donna had, a lot of people gloss over her, which is really a shame.
I think that might be cause Rose had just left...when I first watched season 3 I didn't like her because I wanted Rose back...now after re watching it I really like her. especially after amy and Clara...sorry to anyone who likes them...but in my opinion Rose, Martha and Donna were the best female companions. after them no one was as great again...not even River. Only talking about female compmanions though cause Rory was pretty awesome 😁
Some people say they didn't like Martha's ending, but I loved it. She had the judgement to recognize that, even though she loved travelling with The Doctor, she needed to be with her family and that speaks volumes.
The thing I loved most about the Doctor's companions is that they were never perfect. Rose was a poor shop girl who never really saw herself going anywhere since she gave it up over a mistake. Then she meets the Doctor and is able to show that she is loyal and brave and that she would do anything, even if it meant destroying herself, to save the man who saved her. It killed her to finally leave the Doctor, but Rose never gave up hope that they would be together. Mickey was a mechanic who didn't really know what to do when a crisis occurred, but did his best to support Rose anyway. He ended up finding a new home and learning that he was brave and able to save others. That he didn't need to be clever or something spectacularly different in order to do the right thing. Captain Jack was a coward who was used to figuring his own way in the world - and was usually ignorant of the havoc he caused when he left. After he joined Torchwood, however, he learned that sometimes you need to shoulder responsibility and face what's coming with open arms. Martha was a POC medical student who was frustrated by how her parents always fought, and hoped that one day she could find someone that be with forever. The Doctor came, and although he liked her, he never realized how much he meant to Martha. But she didn't care. Martha walked the entire world and saved it, and, most importantly, realized when enough is enough. Donna was a temp from Chiswick who was used to being put down and scoffed at, as if she were a nobody that time would forget about. Her sassiness was her only defense, but it only worked so far. When she met the Doctor, Donna saved his life and learned that she was beautiful and brilliant and amazing, simply because she was Donna Noble. Amelia was a little girl forced to live in a adult world, always waiting for the childhood adventures that would never come. Then the Doctor came and showed her that the world is wonderful and dark and mysterious all at the same time. She learned that you are never too old for a Imaginary Friend, especially one as incredible as the Doctor. Rory was the third wheel his entire life, completely over looked by the one he loved. When he finally got his chance, Rory ended up dying, but proved that true love is something death itself couldn't stop. He waited for centuries for Amelia, and when he was reunited never stopped caring for her or loving her. River (Melody) was the killer who was determined to take fate into her own hands. The man she was destined to kill became her husband, and River fought to protect him and her parents, even though they never knew who she was. Her pain and suffering is equaled only to the Doctor's, but she doesn't care, so long as she can have her mad man with a box. Finally, there's Clara. The Impossible Girl. What little girl doesn't dream of a knight in shining armor whisking her away? But no matter how hard Clara tried, no matter what she did, or said, she always ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time. In the end, she had to be the knight and face the dragon. And, ultimately lose. Thank you, Doctor Who. You taught me that even the greatest heroes and heroines aren't perfect. *And that's OK*
Moviepom I just thought there weren't many good episodes, and I didn't like the finale very much. Controversial because everyone loves the Master, I know. It was just a bit of a stretch for me. Except for Captain Jack's return JACK JACK JACK YES
A lot of people say they hated Martha, but I loved her :3 she was a fun character and unlike some other companions, yes she fell for the doctor to some extent but realised it was a one way thing and chose to move on, I liked that about her. She knew what she wanted but sometimes she couldn't have what she wanted so moved on in life ;3
She wasn't bad at all, she wasn't even too generic. But for a reason I can still not pinpoint, she didn't stand very much during her time with the doc. Actually, she was even better when she left the doc, maybe because she could do other things than just following him... Can't say
***** Its kinda like in that one spongebob episode, the one with Jim the fry cook? He said that Spongebob was good fry cook, but would only be a great one when he finally got the guts to leave Mr. Krabs "dump".
mallk238 In a sense yeah. It's just that it's a pretty common situation in all work of fiction in general, so I find it funny that of all of them, you chose spongebob ^^
Martha is my favorite companion. She's witty, funny, and so brave. I love her to pieces. Unlike Rose, she realized that she has a family to take care of. She loved the Doctor, but she understood that his heart was somewhere else. You din't have ti be sassy or argumentative to be loved. She did so much on her own. Even without the Doctor, she managed to spread word and the reason why they were saved was because of her. She didn't need to consume a time vortex to save the Doctor. She used her wit and intelligence. I love her. (But I love Rose and Donna as well)
Alassë Alcarin They were actually near the same age, what the hell are you talking about? All the companions were sweet and caring, she isn't anything special.
Sabiha Obaid how would i have replied to your comment if i could not read? and as Alasse's comment involved the Doctor and Rose as the subject, then you say "they where actually near the same age" it's fairly easy to confuse. explain your comment in full m8
People always dislike Martha for falling in love with the Doctor, but admit it, if you travelled around with the 10th doctor, you would fall in love with him too. (:
Rose fell in love with the Doctor and people don’t dislike her for it. Rose is a more iconic and loved companion, but Martha was more mature. Even though she had more reason than Rose to leave her family for good, she chose to leave the doctor to be with them. Rose chose to leave her family behind forever and would have done, if she wasn’t trapped in the parallel world
Composer Murray Gold has added so much to the show with the beautiful music he writes. "Martha's Theme" is particularly haunting & lovely. And I think he and I believe Nicholas Briggs, who is the voice of the Daleks & other creatures, are some of the very very few who are involved with all 7 series .... with 8 on the way!
I loved Martha. I just hate that the Doctor didn't really pay much attention to her since he was still grieving over Rose. She spent so much time thinking she was second best, but she's good. Very good. I loved her!
Between her and Leela, yeah she is really underrated. Leela was also a companion of the fourth doctor who never got any praise because she was between the 2 most popular companions of the classic series (Sarah Jane and Romana).
the thing about martha was that the doctor was just too sad about rose to fully appreciate her, and like when she left, the doctor realized how she had been takin gher for granted and that she really was a star and she helped him realize he had to let rose go, so when he travlled with donna he was able to have more fun, even though he didn't let her go until he left her with Tentoo in the other universe
After listening to this and watching some of third season again, I remembered how I felt during season 5. There's hardly any reference to the previous seasons and its companions. It almost seems like seasons 5, 6, and 7 are a different show. It's kind of sad really. I know different regeneration and all that, but he's got a different TARDIS desktop and a different screwdriver so it's almost all different. I almost feel like 11 has forgotten.
MK Arsene He kinda already did that when [Spoilers! major spoilers! Don't read if you haven't see Day of the Doctor or Time of the Doctor!] he froze Gallifrey in another dimension instead of killing them.
I loved Martha, because, in a way, she was the most under appreciated and put down. But, she proved herself to be more than a match for the Doctor and made very brave choices-not the least of which is sticking with him until the end of the Year That Never Was.
The reason Martha is my fav out of 9 and 10's companions is that at the end of her run, she just walked out of the TARDIS and went on with her life. No trying to hammer down the walls of reality or stalking the Doctor or lurking around Cardiff for a century hoping for another adventure. She just walked off, got a new guy and a new job, and lived her life.
Poor SJ. I've always kind of felt cheated that they never, in my eyes, gave her a proper send off. The attention was all on the Tenth Doctor while he was preparing to regenerate. She was the one that bridged the gap between Classic and New Who. She, to me, was like all of the Doctor's companions wrapped up into one, and you just can't beat that.
They were both special in their own rights. I think the 10th doctor, the best doctor me also had the best companions, Donna, Martha and Rose. Season 1 to 4 were the golden days of modern doctor who.
Martha isn't my favorite character, but I still adore her... although, I have to say, her theme is by far my favorite one. This is so beautifully haunting.
It was so sad when this was playing while the Doctor described Gallifrey at the start of Gridlock, and while Martha was amazed, the Doctor was mourning.
I still think Martha is one of the best, if not the best companion of the revived series. Pisses me off to no end that RTD was too in love with Rose to give Martha the respect she deserved... and then she went and married Mickey.
I think as a writer, he did give her respect as a creation. She was fully fleshed out and to write the Doctor as not always giving her the respect she deserved helped develop her even more; she still walked away from the TARDIS as a better person, leaving on her own terms and with no hard feelings. I love when she returns to later series and you see how she carves her own path as a person. I think her character is an incredible role model.
MARTHA WAS A CINNAMON ROLL TOO PRECIOUS FOR THIS WORLD, TOO PURE. MAN I HOPE MICKEY REALIZES HOW LUCKY HE IS. SHE WAS AMAZING AND SWEET AND BRILLIANT. NO WONDER WHY THE DOCTOR LIKED HER.
Watching every episode again just finished Rose era and now started with Martha's and what a beautiful musical piece this is I was never invested in the Martha episodes but watching now again being a lot older makes me see her differently
What I like about Martha Jones is that it shows that she had her priorities well arranged, and that her crush on the doctor was just that, just crush, also Martha was 23 years old and was about to finish her medical degree, she had a beautiful future on earth and I do not hesitate to take that path. Nice for Martha.
This is one of my favourite themes, after Clara's and possibly Eleven's. I always felt like Martha was a bit underappreciated compared to the other companions. She was a strong, intelligent woman, and she made the Doctor more human. She believed that she wasn't that important to him, but I feel like she was just what he needed to bring her out of the rut he was in after Rose. Her only mistake was to love the Doctor, and in the end she surpassed that too, becoming a doctor who chose to walk away.
This song marries sadness and triumph so well. It’s a musical version of “don’t be sad it’s over, be glad it happened”, it tells us that life goes on, and nobody can ever take away the memory. Loss is not the end. I think that Whovians become like the Doctor in a sense through their love of the show over years and years. They have their firsts, their favorites, their tragedies, they watch people they love grow old and die. Millennia pass in no time flat, but you can always hop back in time and relive it all.
*_1:56_**_-_**_2:26_**_ is definitely my favourite part...I love it! When I'm re-watching the show, I really hate to see Rose go...but I must admit I do get so excited when I hear this theme in "Smith and Jones" because I know more awesome adventures with a new companion is coming up, and I also know that Rose will be coming back in "Journey's End" :D_*
Hands down Martha has the best theme music out of all of them. Might be my favorite Murray Gold song from Doctor Who alongside The Girl in the Fireplace Suite
Martha will always be my favourite companion. Don't get me wrong. I thought Rose was good. But I found that she was very much a "damsel in distress". She came off as quite useless a lot of the time, in my opinion. Martha could hold her own. She thought deeply about situations and could problem solve, not to mention being very intelligent, and she proved to be useful in a lot of situations. The last three episodes of her series is a good indication of that. Who cares if she fell in love with the Doctor. Anyone would if they travelled around with him. Series 3 will always be my favourite and Martha will always be my favourite companion.
Literally she's not a damsel in distress...the doctor most of the time let her loose on people and she just yelled at stupid people like, all the time.
Laura Martha in my mind had a good life before the Dr and whilst she loved the Dr and wanted him she didn’t need him and that’s why she’s the only one that walked away from him and went on with her life.
this song is her perfect anthem. you can feel the longing and sadness at the beginning, her love for the doctor and all the pain it caused her and her family. but at the same it's clever and captivating, and then at the end it surges up in this strengthening crescendo just like she does as she breaks off her adventures and does what's right for her. love martha. this song is gorgeous.
Most of Murray Gold's soundtrack is magical and adventurous, music that makes you want to see the stars and keep on running as though you're there with the Doctor, but this piece is so beautiful and mellow and somewhat triumphant in a much more human sense that it just brings me back down to Earth. Martha could have kept travelling with the Doctor forever but she knew when enough was enough, she had her family to care for and a fantastic future ahead of her on Earth. So this piece really makes me see things from a more mature point of view, as in it humbles me and teaches me to be content with the life that I have. Just like Martha, who proved she didn't need the Doctor to be successful as she was. A very special masterpiece from Murray Gold here 🙏🏼
literally how could _anyone_ hate martha? she was brave and intelligent, and always put others first. she looked at the man she loved everyday and watched him love someone who she never even knew and still stayed by him. she still fought for him and with him, and, when the time came, _against_ him. she saw the world not in the terms of flux/fixed, like the doctor, but in numbers of people who she could save. and she always did her best to keep that number high. martha wasn't weak. she was amazing.
Who knows? I don't see any reason to dislike her. I thought she was a badass. And by eventually deciding to leave the Doctor, she showed IMMENSE strength of character and self-respect. I don't blame the Doctor for not being able to return her feelings, but I do wish he'd been more sensitive and considerate. She deserved so much better, because she was brilliant. I think I like her ending best of all the companions, though, because for the most part I found it pretty satisfying. She left of her own volition and found her own life. And that's awesome.
I love Martha's theme. It starts off with a very mystic and melancholy feel and then it effectively transitions into a triumphant theme with a tint of holiness. I absolutely love it! Martha had great character development! :D
Something about this theme makes me melancholy. Remembering Martha, what a great companion, and a great character! She got to travel through time and space with the Doctor, something that most people in the Who-verse can only dream about, if they're aware that he's real at all. All of Time and Space in that little blue box. The vastness and grandeur of our entire universe, laid at her feet. And yet, she chose to walk away because the Doctor couldn't let go of his past and really acknowledge or reciprocate her feelings. That takes real conviction, and makes me respect her character in a way that a lot of other companions can't.
Martha's theme is like her, the theme sounds very wistful, as though she is wishing for more. Wishing for her family to be more stable, wishing the Doctor would love her too.
Somewhere out there is a version of this with marching drums. Only heard it in one episode, don’t remember exactly which one, where the Doctor drops her off in her room and leaves before coming back. I’ve never been able to find a full recording of that version.
Martha had a great run with the Doctor. Rewatching series 3 now, and some great episodes came out of that series. If only the Doctor saw Martha the way we do.
Why is her theme so sad? Its like it only reflects her unrequited love for Ten. There should be some epic electric guitar or something to portray just how much of a bad ass motherfucker she was.
Series 3 was my first series! Martha is awesome, I was only in year 3 when it first aired and I remember my first few episodes were what seem to be Utopia and The Lazarus Experiment upon rewatching recently.
Listening to this theme makes me feel kinda melancholic. Especially at 0:17, 0:49, 1:37, 1:55, 2:44. It feels like a nod to a farewell parting after the end of her adventure. However, it doesn't only reflect a moment of your last time (as a viewer) with Martha at the end of the third and the fourth seasons, but also the realization that you will not see her again in the future. It's kinda poetic for a farewell parting gift.
I feel like Martha was always doomed to be at a disadvantage simply because of her placement in the story. She’s a character I come to appreciate more and more the older I get though, and I wish she got more love. She’s remembered primarily as the companion with an unrequited love for the Doctor, but she also happened to be one of the smartest and most resourceful companions the Doctor has ever had. And while her departure wasn’t as earth-shatteringly memorable as some of the others, she DID have the healthiest and most empowering departure. She realized she was tired of being taken for granted and waiting around hoping the Doctor would eventually see her the way she wanted him to, and made a choice to prioritize her mental health and self-respect. I think that type of choice takes a lot of strength and courage. In summary, Martha was a badass and certainly the kind of person I’d want in my corner. I think even though the Doctor didn’t love her and that was okay, the way he so often kept her close and yet at a distance seemed unfair, considering he knew how she felt. In a way I feel like they both perpetuated a really unhealthy dynamic between them for a while.
Ok. Papa Acachalla watches doctor who. Hey, also..... Tell Sally I asked her if she had any extra golden waffles? I'd like to try one of her millions :3
I personally adored Martha. She was an excellent companion. Brave, intelligent and kind. She was strong enough to walk away from a one-sided love and that's the thing that I most adored about her.
I love how everyone always says how RTD didn't really let Martha reach her full potential, always comparing her to Rose, when just simply watching Torchwood and series 4 of Doctor Who shows Martha was one of his favourite creations. In Torchwood, Martha is displayed as the best, and someone Jack admires greatly and trusts immensely. The point of Martha's series was to show how she grew as a character; at first she was just very focused on becoming a doctor and then, travelling the universe. In the end, she realised that the Doctor wasn't good for her no matter how much she admires him. She also realised though she was living in Rose's shadow, the Doctor had good reason for mourning Rose; Rose didn't just leave, she's trapped in another universe.I also love how everyone always compares Martha to Rose, and vice versa, as if you can't like the one without hating the other when in fact, given the chance, they would've loved each other. Rose was essentially the Doctor's love, where Martha was his intellectual equal. Both girls challenged the Doctor's action and can stand on their own. Yes, Martha spends a series being overshadowed by Rose but you have to take into consideration that Rose was the first person the Doctor cared about after the Time War, she was very special to him. And, in the end, Martha gets answers to why the Doctor's so caught up on her: by hearing about Rose's fate and what she did to Jack, Martha realises why Rose is so special to the Doctor and most importantly, she realises she doesn't need the Doctor to be amazing.RTD structured his characters extremely well, and made their actions and development very believable.
In my opinion, Martha was one of this most important, like she saved the doctor countless times and the episodes with the master couldn't have happened without her, I wish she had more time.
Martha is the best companion ever...she supported the doctor more times than one could count...she spent a long time in early 19th century where she would get abuse just cos of her colour just to protect the doctor under the family of bloods nose...she faced horrors for an entire year travelling the world spreading the word of the doctor while her family were turned into slaves...she was stuck with the doctor in 1963 and in the end walked away with utter confidence and dominance...she worked in unit and with torchwood fighting sontorans etc and ultimately she has a happy life she never died she never lost her memories never lost loved ones and that’s cos she was strong enough to not just leave the tardis but to leave the tardis and have absolutely zero regrets...in my honest opinion the doctor never appreciated her enough she is the best
Martha's theme just fits her story so well; how she's in love with someone who can't love her back because he just lost his love, but she gets to see great new things that let her save people like she's always wanted, but she has to leave to save her self and to move on to help the people she's trained for.
I find rose obnoxious and annoying. I started watching Doctor Who when Martha was introduced. I've gone back to watch most of Rose's time on the show, and I think though the timing was bad, Marthas acting and personality was much more enjoyable.
You can hear her entire character arc in this song...it starts out slow and slightly sad, like how Martha feels realizing that the Doctor has no feelings for her. Then it becomes more hopeful as she realizes that she's worth plenty even without the Doctor's love. Then it becomes strong as she becomes her own person and lets the Doctor go. And then it goes even further....you can hear a sense of gratefulness in the music, as she has let the Doctor go but is still thankful for all he showed her.
Martha is only female character in New Doctor Who that I really adored. Too bad that they decided to put her right after Rose :( I bet that Freema would made this character shine bit more if they wouldn't put her right after that psycho Rose.
I have to disagree. I found her personality to be unnecessarily stale and I'd gotten really tired of every female companion having a major crush on the doctor. Donna is easily my favorite female companion of his.
I must disagree - I think Rose was a wonderful companion and I miss her. I also enjoy Martha, even though I've only gotten as far as "Evolution of the Daleks."
Mattias Westby Rose was just so whiny about and ungrateful about everything. I also hated the way she treated Mickey. I loved Martha to death, but I can't really adore Rose the same way. The only thing that really made it bearable for me was Billie Piper's good acting.
Why is it when people say they love Martha, they feel the need to hate on Rose? I love them both, and while Rose will always be my favorite companion, I don't see why people relate her and Martha. Martha has always been in Rose's shadow, even if people are talking about how they like her better. And don't get me started on how the writers abused her and totally did Freema an injustice by not showing how badass she is. Did you know she's trained in martial arts? Yeah, we could've had sexy, ninja, i-don't-need-a-man-because-i'm-fucking-awesome Martha. But instead, they used her for a badly written love triangle fodder, and made her seem pushy and annoying. Ugh. *shudders* And everyone goes on about how the female (and male *cough* Jack *cough*) companions fell in love with the Doctor and oh they're so selfish because the Doctor would never be held down by human things such as love, but I mean _who wouldn't fall in love with him?_ I think most of us love the Doctor in some capacity. And really? You think the Doctor would live over 900 years and not once ever fall in love? Really? He spends all his time with humans and you think that their customs won't rub off on him? _Really?_ Okay then. Back to the point. Martha is kick-ass, romantic, brave, and pretty self-reliant. Quick as a whip and compassionate, too! And she's her own (fictional) person. To be perfectly honest, had they traveled together, I definitely feel like Rose and Martha would've been the best of friends. I get sick of people saying they would be at odds with each other, but come on. Most long-lasting friendships contain individuals who are complete opposites. Had Martha been written to the fullest of her abilities, they would've had the friendship of the century. /rant over Sorry, I just feel very strongly about this.
Absolutely adored her theme honestly had to come back to hear more. Love how it creates a sense of wonder and love but also a sense of distance, perfectly represents her character and how she feels around the doctor
For me, Martha's theme is beautiful not only because it is so melodic but it also seems to have that darker, more mysterious quality to it than some of the other characters' themes. Right from the beginning, the voice you hear just draws you in and you HEAR unrequited love, loneliness, wonder, strength and brilliance as well. She has a strong sense of duty. A steely resolve. And you can get all that from this song. The Girl Who Would Destroy The World To Save It.
This is far and away the most beautiful theme Murray Gold has composed for the new 'Doctor Who'. As for Martha herself: an excellent character, and I think superbly played by Freema. There are moments that one can never forget, such as when the Hath sacrificed himself in 'The Doctor's Daughter' and the way Martha reacted. I have rarely felt so strongly regarding fictional characters as I did at that moment.

+London Robinson Well personally, she's my favorite
+London Purvis I personally think Rose is overrated. She's good and all but Donna , Martha were much better.
You're goddamn right! 👍

Thank you, Doctor Who. You taught me that even the greatest heroes and heroines aren't perfect. *And that's OK*
If Jack before the Doctor met himself as leader of Torchwood he wouldn't even recognise himself XD
And who would want a story about perfect people?
And thank you for writing this. It just made my whole day:')
Delena InMyHeart That's why I'm here
Reading this to the music, made me tear up :') haha
I don't give a damn what people say to me. I love series 3 and I adore Martha.
+Moviepom I hated Series 3 save a few episodes but love Martha.
Really?, I'd love to hear why!
*Also glad to see someone else who likes her!

Sabiha Obaid Rose was 903 years old?
Daniel Fuller Can you not read? I'm talking about companions.
Sabiha Obaid how would i have replied to your comment if i could not read? and as Alasse's comment involved the Doctor and Rose as the subject, then you say "they where actually near the same age" it's fairly easy to confuse. explain your comment in full m8
Daniel Fuller
Read the second sentence, and then tell me that again.
People always dislike Martha for falling in love with the Doctor, but admit it, if you travelled around with the 10th doctor, you would fall in love with him too. (:
I am a heterosexual male but somehow I still agree with this.
***** > implying anyone wouldn't bang the 10th doctor
so true, and Matt Smith too
Was fitting and sad when 11 said show me regret and Martha hologram appeared
The "8 on the way" hit me with an incredible amount of nostalgia 🙈
I loved Martha. I just hate that the Doctor didn't really pay much attention to her since he was still grieving over Rose. She spent so much time thinking she was second best, but she's good. Very good. I loved her!
I loved her too
Most underrated companion ever? I think so.
I agree with you
I love how she got introduced in that one episode with all of the weird time tricks the doctor played on her
Yep
Between her and Leela, yeah she is really underrated.
Leela was also a companion of the fourth doctor who never got any praise because she was between the 2 most popular companions of the classic series (Sarah Jane and Romana).
Absolutely, but Mickey is a close second. I realise that's probably why they ended up married.
Martha Jones everyone. Most competent and underrated companion of the revived series.
the thing about martha was that the doctor was just too sad about rose to fully appreciate her, and like when she left, the doctor realized how she had been takin gher for granted and that she really was a star and she helped him realize he had to let rose go, so when he travlled with donna he was able to have more fun, even though he didn't let her go until he left her with Tentoo in the other universe
If you had watched day of the doctor, you would see that is the point. It is sad.
11 said it himself: he was the one who forgot. 10 was the one who regretted.
Wonder what 12 will be, if 11 forgot, 10 regretted, and 9 ran.
MK Arsene He kinda already did that when [Spoilers! major spoilers! Don't read if you haven't see Day of the Doctor or Time of the Doctor!] he froze Gallifrey in another dimension instead of killing them.
MLPVolteire Maybe 12 will be the one who reminisces?
Rose: Extremely good looking and a BADASS
Martha: Also extremely good looking and a BADASS
+SarahForeshadow13 AND SMART
↑
+SarahForeshadow13 Martha is really good-looking.
Doug_ hi mlp fan r u 1? i am
Ah, Martha. You're one of my all time favorite Doctor Who companions :).
This was the best companion theme. It is simply a beautiful arrangement.
Raguleader Fighting aliens for a living. But yeah, I think, Sarah Jane has a similar appeal
Don't compare Rose and Martha, they were completely different persons. Martha was amazing, so was Rose 😊
+Xavi DON'T DO THAT
+Xavi NO STOP
They both had a really great year with the Doctor
Seems like the doctor could've used that advice
They were both special in their own rights.
I think the 10th doctor, the best doctor me also had the best companions, Donna, Martha and Rose. Season 1 to 4 were the golden days of modern doctor who.
Martha is awesome. The doctor treated her like such crap. At least Shakespeare recognized how special she is. Even wrote her a sonnet!
How did he treat her like crap? Tf?
@@JohnnyLCobhe compared her to rose all the time.
best theme in doctor who for sure.
Sen napyon lan burda
Martha isn't my favorite character, but I still adore her... although, I have to say, her theme is by far my favorite one. This is so beautifully haunting.
It was so sad when this was playing while the Doctor described Gallifrey at the start of Gridlock, and while Martha was amazed, the Doctor was mourning.
Wow, Martha has a beautiful theme. I loved Martha, :)
Isabel Garcia mickey is with rose sweetie. You got the names mixed up...
Rebecca Ashley Peiffer Nope, I don't know if you got there yet, but at the end of the series, Mickey marries Martha.
Isabel Garcia Martha is way better for Mickey than Rose.
VA2XMX Petro K I know! Not to hate on Rose, but she didn't really care for Mickey...
Isabel Garcia I totally agree with you.
An ad showed up next to the video saying, "Get help from a REAL doctor!" If only they knew...
This was probably one of my favourite themes
*_1:56_**_-_**_2:26_**_ is definitely my favourite part...I love it! When I'm re-watching the show, I really hate to see Rose go...but I must admit I do get so excited when I hear this theme in "Smith and Jones" because I know more awesome adventures with a new companion is coming up, and I also know that Rose will be coming back in "Journey's End" :D_*
+Alιce Wιѕe ツ (Aʋεɳɡεʀ αɳɗ Ꮆυαɾɗɩαɳ ღ) you should give a spoiler warning just like River Song
Omd same!!!
Laura Martha in my mind had a good life before the Dr and whilst she loved the Dr and wanted him she didn’t need him and that’s why she’s the only one that walked away from him and went on with her life.
when you put it like that it makes me like martha even more
I AGREE ROSE NO MARTHA YES DONNA NO AMY AND RORY NO CLARA YES
same
this song is her perfect anthem. you can feel the longing and sadness at the beginning, her love for the doctor and all the pain it caused her and her family. but at the same it's clever and captivating, and then at the end it surges up in this strengthening crescendo just like she does as she breaks off her adventures and does what's right for her.
love martha. this song is gorgeous.
Me: Martha has a theme
*listens to theme*
Me: Oh...
It's sad how people are starting to realise how underrated martha is now 😔
I absolutely love martha’s theme
Martha was done dirty. If it wasn't for her, the doctor would have regenerated on at least 5 or 6 occasions during season 3
My favorite Dr.Who companion and criminally under rated.
Yes!
Such a beautiful piece. It sends shivers down my spine.
Martha's theme is like her, the theme sounds very wistful, as though she is wishing for more. Wishing for her family to be more stable, wishing the Doctor would love her too.
you know martha is the only new who companion that the doctor has not seriously messed up
Somewhere out there is a version of this with marching drums. Only heard it in one episode, don’t remember exactly which one, where the Doctor drops her off in her room and leaves before coming back.
I’ve never been able to find a full recording of that version.
One of the best themes in the show imo
This song is BEAUTIFUL always been my favorite
Gold really knows how to outdo himself.
i haven't listened to this in a while but i have chills everywhere this is amazing
Martha's theme is the only Who theme that makes me really emotional for some reason
and what is with "Doomsday theme"?
Gold's best companion work to date. I adore Rose, but THIS is the companion music I love most.
I'm not sure what it is about Martha's theme that makes me feel so happy and make my heart feel good.
Can't get any better than this. Beautiful.
Martha may not be my fave companion, but her theme is #1 on my list.
I love how they quietly used this theme when Martha reappeared on Torchwood x
Looking back on the companions, the feelz physically hurt me
Papa can i haz waffles?
This music makes me wanna cry its lovely I MISS U MARTHA T-T
I love this theme. One of my favs. Martha was so cool ;n;
Omg miss doctor who so much I loved the tenth and all of his companions I grew up with them .take me back
I love how everyone always says how RTD didn't really let Martha reach her full potential, always comparing her to Rose, when just simply watching Torchwood and series 4 of Doctor Who shows Martha was one of his favourite creations.
Her and Donna's theme are my favourites. They're my top two companions! :)
In my opinion, the best theme in the show. I miss Martha Jones.
disliked her at first but loved her at last .. and loved her a lot
my favorite companion so far
I just love this theme, this is a really beautiful melody
A song for someone more lovely and more temperate than a summer’s day.
I love this theme so much
I find rose obnoxious and annoying.
I started watching Doctor Who when Martha was introduced.
I've gone back to watch most of Rose's time on the show, and I think though the timing was bad, Marthas acting and personality was much more enjoyable.
Odinwolfe true
This theme always gives me chills- Martha is so underrated and her theme is #1
Love this theme. Love Martha.
This theme is very Potter-y.
she did mention it
One of the greatest themes, one of the greatest companions.
The only thing that really made it bearable for me was Billie Piper's good acting.
best companions theme for the best companion! Thank you, Martha!
Ugh. *shudders*
And everyone goes on about how the female (and male *cough* Jack *cough*) companions fell in love with the Doctor and oh they're so selfish because the Doctor would never be held down by human things such as love, but I mean _who wouldn't fall in love with him?_ I think most of us love the Doctor in some capacity.
/rant over
Sorry, I just feel very strongly about this.
You´re perfectly right
i agree but this is the longest comment iv seen.....
Bonnie Foxfire I mean he did marry river 😐😁
Absolutely adored her theme honestly had to come back to hear more. Love how it creates a sense of wonder and love but also a sense of distance, perfectly represents her character and how she feels around the doctor
Rose may have had a sad end, but Martha is the best companion ever! Plus Skystarry75, 9 only had one companion.
Pretty sure that was the point of the statement...
Technically he didn't since Adam is listed as a companion.
Charizarzar SHHHHHHHHHHHHH WE DON'T MENTION ADAM.
i love martha
I personally like Amy best, but I love Martha's theme!
Haha just watched 3 of torchwoods episodes and she was in them!😂 luv her so much she is awesome!
this song is lovely, warm and just wraps around you like a soft blanket, I wish I could listen to it forever
This is from nerdcubed, but has anyone else noticed that this kind of sounds like the theme in the worgen starting place in world of warcraft?
Indeed.
+The Red Soldier I came here from that too.
Criminally underrated companion.
amazing! One of murry gold's themes that get stuck in your head all day!
Recently saw the first Martha episode, "Smith and Jones". There was a definite flirt factor from The Doctor. Her theme is superb.
this is so soothing
She comes and She goes but, we'll always remember her!!
I feel like fans definitely took her for granted!
