the crazy thing is, so much of this game was inspired by ASOIAF and came out before GOT. 02:42 Did you notice that Bethany's boobs are massive in Varic's exaggerated version of the tutorial area story? 03:18 When he tells what really happened, they are smaller.
Honestly my main issue with the Dragon Age series is they never seem to have a solid idea of what the franchise is. Origins was this modern callback to old school crpgs. Dragon Age 2 went in this more action oriented direction (on top of being heavily rushed), Inquisition went back a bit towards the more tactical combat but now was trying to be more open world-esque with the larger zones. I don’t think any of them are necessarily bad it just feels like the series has a very vague sense of what it wants to be so each game kind of jumps off in it’s own direction rather feeling like it’s consistently building on what came before.
So from what I have heard is that DA2 was originally planned to be called Dragon Age Exadous, not only to hint at story theme but also to refrence the change from CRPG to a more ARPG style. given this and how 3 out of the four games are ARPGs I think the gameplay of this franchise is always meant to be an ARPG. I also suspect that the franchise is supposed to be semi-open as again that was what it is for 3 of the four. The reasons for the inconsistence is with DA2 EA rushing the title (even mandating the 2 allegedly.) and for Inquisiotion EA pressuring hard for the game to follow the whole Live Service multiplayer Open World trend
yeah, DA struggled to find a footing unlike mass effect, and it seems the formula they feel confident to use this time around is ME itself. Here's to hoping they nail it.
@@soapandbutter I think it's less of confidence but no choice. With Bioware having shruk down in size and two games having flopped they likely figure it best to have Dragon Age and Mass Effect to follow the same formula so they are not doing anymore ground up builds.
I'd agree. In some ways I think Veilguard is their no compromise "this is what we want to do with DA" game. DA has been leaning towards action anyways. one thing I do love about dragon age 2 that your choose actual matter like you can literally lose your sibling if you made the wrong choice like in my first playthrough when I left Bethany behind when I did the Deep Roads, she was take away an put in the mage circle and in the final act I side with the templars after beat the finally boss, I had the chance to kill my own sister and I threat anyone touch her and my second playthrough I brought Carver in the deep road and if you bring your sibling they died but if you bring ANDERS with you, they survive but they become a grey warden

This is a good game and I enjoyed it, but it isn't what I wanted in a sequel to Origins. Of the three we have, the first is the one I've played over and over. Expansive story. Many different paths. Then there's this. Action focused and pretty much on rails. As I said, I enjoyed playing it, but I played it once or twice. Never saw a reason to go back.
It really feels like they got some mandate from higher up telling them to make a more "focused" game, then they swung way too far in that direction. I was thinking something similar to you after playing Veilguard. It's crazy how different each of the games have been so far
Even though I can admit it's a flawed game and everything about it screams "rushed development", I still can't help but adore this game, and it's still to this day my favorite in the series. The combat can get ridiculously broken and fun if you have a good build, and the cast of companions in this game is easily the best in the series and one of the best in any Bioware game, and I especially love the story for how different it was compared to Origins and how much more down to earth and personal it was instead of another epic world saving adventure (For the first two acts at least).

DA2 was great. Yeah, the level design was kinda shit lol. And the UI was rough. One thing I hated as the games continued was it seems like they split up the skills alot. I mighr be wrong cause Incant rememver 100% but I remember in Origins you coukd have a duel wield warrior or sword and shield or two handed, but in later games dropped the dual wield to strictly rogue. Might be wrong, but yeah. I wish theyd make a DA with origins skills and story but DA2s gameplay. Inquisition was OK to me at best. I should probably finish it one of these days 😂
I wish more RPGs took place in a single city like this game does (for the most part). Not every adventure needs to involve travelling across the entire country
DA2 had a good story but every other part of the game was just outright bad. Inquisition followed up with the opposite problem, with the game looking beautiful but having lackluster storytelling and very boring combat (even worse than DA2's). I have zero hope of Veilguard being anywhere close to Origins, but I actually do think it'll be more fun than DA2 and Inquisition.
idk so far veilguard gives me bad vibe ... looks old and cheap with all those particles, combat camera positioning is awfull, spells and attacks lacks impact, characters looks plastic ... except hair .. idk we will see but im really sceptic with that one even tho 2 wasnt great with lvl design since it repeated more then often it wasnt a bad game tho it was fast pase when u look at tactical origins it was waaay better then what they cook now
I missed dragon age origins for a long time. I did not know there were bringing out more games for it, but those graphics look terrible. Is Xbox sitting with their thumbs up their butts. I've never seen such bad graphics. This season, Xbox is real garbage. They might as well stop making video games if their graphics are going to be so bad. This is making me happy that I didn't go out and buy one. Because this, these graphics are so terrible.
Dragon Age peaked with the first game - then it gots worse with every new game. At least they nailed Qnari way better than Vanguard...whatever that is. DA2 aka "Press A for Awesome" awesome button instead of good tactical game... seen better action RPGs. Still played dual-wielding rogue for best experience, not sure if mages were OP like in the first game.
Can someone explain to me how Veiguard, which took about 10 years to make, ended up worse than a 14 year old game that was made in just one year with an insanely lower budget?
It's certainly not the best but I put so many hours into this one 🥹

The two handed skills are pretty the same from Dragon Age Inquisition, they just recycle it damn
I wish more RPGs took place in a single city like this game does (for the most part). Not every adventure needs to involve travelling across the entire country
ok
Hawke ❤
Ahhh Merril best girl
For me. It was all downhill from here.
Where is sir Issac
DA2 had a good story but every other part of the game was just outright bad. Inquisition followed up with the opposite problem, with the game looking beautiful but having lackluster storytelling and very boring combat (even worse than DA2's). I have zero hope of Veilguard being anywhere close to Origins, but I actually do think it'll be more fun than DA2 and Inquisition.
Your username is as catastrophic as your opinion

idk so far veilguard gives me bad vibe ... looks old and cheap with all those particles, combat camera positioning is awfull, spells and attacks lacks impact, characters looks plastic ... except hair .. idk we will see but im really sceptic with that one
even tho 2 wasnt great with lvl design since it repeated more then often it wasnt a bad game tho it was fast pase when u look at tactical origins it was waaay better then what they cook now
I would rather have Dragon age 2 Remade than Dragon age Veilguard.
You dont need to talk about veil guard, thought. Because everyone hate it.
Soon much Hate!!!
I'm just so fucking glad you didn't make his Surname Tuah... Proud of you.
This is the worst meme of all time. It's cringe.
Kids these days only Charing about graphics 😂
@@LuffyxNamiisathingyup 😂
@LuffyxNamiisathing Kids, I'm probably older than you I am 37.
@@elm3446 than that is sad lol. caring about graphics so much when that is just a small part of what can make a game great.
Dragon age no. Storytelling yes. The events of origins lorewise are boring and unimportant in the grand scheme of things.
origins players and trying to not foam out of their mouth that DAO is the best :impossible challenge
@@johnpantag472 How exactly are they unimportant??? Veilguard is literally a direct sequel to its story.
@@johnpantag472You just know a game is f*cking amazing when the only criticism people can come up with is stuff like this 😂😂😂
Can someone explain to me how Veiguard, which took about 10 years to make, ended up worse than a 14 year old game that was made in just one year with an insanely lower budget?
Dragon Age: Wokeguard! Hope it fails!
