I know Elton did not write many of his songs. But he's responsible for bringing these songs to life. When musicians like him, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Bob Marley and others are gone, their genius will live on.
I used to listen to this song with my mother when I was a child. She was an Elton John's fan. Two years ago she passed away for a cancer. This song brings me back old sweet memories about her. Can't stop crying. I miss you mum so much.

A great tribute to a man who recovered from drug and alcohol abuse only four years before this song was written. He contributes his recovery to Ryan White, who he became friends with before his death from AIDS from a contaminated blood transfusion. He and lyricist Tim Rice won a well-deserved Oscar and Golden Globe and he a Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. Well done!

For us who are privileged to go to the cinemas with our parents, the experience was magical and isn't replicable when watching it on TV today.
Rewatching it again only brings us back to that magical time, and it just brings nostalgia and happiness that we would be proud of.
Still though, it's good to have kids watch it anyway. They don't make movies like those days, and the kids can appreciate the art of movie making from that era.
Crazy that Elton was in his late 40’s already when he sang this song. Most great vocalist start to lose a little by the time they’re close to 50. Elton sounds like he’s still very much in his prime here.
He was still an extremely strong singer in his farewell tour. Worth a listen

I'd say that this was the height of his career, actually. Between this song and the remake of Candle in the Wind he sold more records than he ever had before, and he had already sold massive numbers. If not for an 80s funk he was pretty much unstoppable from the 70s until the 2000s, and only then because he stopped performing as much.
He sang *Candle In The Wind* for Princess Diana's funeral in 1997 live in the church's nave and sounded great on that as well.

Lion King is Legendary. The 80s/90s kids are so damn lucky. I was born in the early 2000s and I'm so damn grateful my parents raised me around the Lion King and Classic Disney.

When I was a child, I used to listent to this song, dreaming about my wedding day, and how my husband and I will dance on this.
I grew up, almost loose hope. I fought depression, desillusion. I thought I'll never will marry, never gonna meet a man who will love me enough because I was not worth it.
One year and a half, I met the most wonderfull man and for the the first time, I have an healthy relationship. And yesterday... He proposed. We'll dance on this song. Never loose hope.
My mom would sing and play piano for work. She always did this song. Elton John was one of her favorite musicians. She passed away 3/21/23 of cancer. This is one of the songs that always brings her back 🥲

This song reminds of the times I spent with my brother when he was a baby. He was born in 1994, and this song would resonate with us as he acted like Simba and I was like Mufasa. We played a lot together, we fought a lot together, but we are inseperable brothers, even to this day. I'd play this song in front of him, and he'd burst into tears, remembering the old days. The 90s were the best moments of our childhood, and I'll never forget them. :)

30 years soon... This movie, this song, this story is the essence of my childhood. I am 35 and will never forget the power that love has for us humans. The film must be preserved forever for the future, the children who are born and their children and their children. The film also clearly shows what a beautiful animal world we have.
The film moves me deeply to tears that I just want to cry, and this feeling is very nice to be able to experience, a moment without limits, just losing yourself in the film.

I don't think the romantic type of love is special. And I am started to think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other. I think humans should just ditch concepts like dating, marriage, and pair bonding. I feel like this world would be a much better place without romance than it is with it.
In my opinion, romantic love should not be on the highest pedestal. In my opinion, parents and siblings' family love is the strongest. Family knows who you are. Romance is fake for lots of people, put on a false persona and romance on most parts gets ugly real fast. For the reality of romance is no Disney love story.

I was born in 1997. Aunt lived in Redlands California. A friend of her gave us all the Disney movies on VHS. From Fox and the Hound to Cinderella, Tarzan, etc. I watch this movie so much at 3/4ish everyday. Ask my parents. Simpler time and amazing movies.
