Good on ya!!! I have fond Memories of ," OLD ANDY" , Taking my Brother and I to the Snake river in Caldwel Idaho, Catfishing the Snake River. He would have Loved these holders. Going back to basics, is far more fun than Mad Dash, Bass, Boats, Fueled Egos, and obsessive competition.
I can't use this due to the ground here being so hard and full of gravel (good luck hammering anything into it), but this gives me ideas on how to modify the bucket rod holder to be better.
I used my 5 gallon rod holder at a local reservoir yesterday. Instead of using the rebar, I tossed in one of the large (20+ pound) rocks from the bank. It held fine and I just put the rock back when I finished fishing. Maybe that setup would work for you. Thanks
@@KCLOutdoors Well, right now I have a 5g bucket rod holder that I put in the back of my inflatable kayak (easiest way I could think of to do it). I've heard another version of that for bank fishing, where you do essentially what I have, but you simply fill it with water when you get to your spot. Use it as a rod holder, and when you're done, empty it out.
Instead of using 3/4 pvc pipe to put your rod holder in the ground I used 3/8 thread rod . You need a you drill a hole in the cap to put the ready rod into and bolt it to the cap it is a Charlotte Pip Schedu 40 1 1/5 in. Spigot X1 1/5 in. FPT PVC Cleanout Adapter I sharpen the end of the ready rod so it will go in the ground better and it works great the ready rod is only 1 foot long
On the bottom side add a 6 to 8 inch piece of PVC pipe. Then add bolt on a length of 1 1/4 " x 1 1/4" angle aluminum that is pointed at ground end. Better?
It's a 10/32 Machine screw. You can also use a 1/4-20 bolt. Both can be found in Hardware stores or big box stores like Lowe's, Home Depot and Menards. Hope that helps!
My mistake, if you were asking about the long bolt that I pushed into the ground, it was a 5/16" bolt that I picked up at tractor supply. I have started using 16"-18" rebar since the video. The rebar can also be purchased at Home Depot in pre cut lengths. Sorry for the confusion!
This setup has worked great. I've had multiple fish and no problems. I keep a set in my truck for any unplanned trips! I'm working on another video using this setup and a 5 gallon bucket.....
I believe that would work fine. I just like to be able to pound the rebar into the riverbank and then slip the PVC over it. Between the rocks and tree roots, the rebar takes the damage, not the PVC and I can easily replace the rebar. Thanks for the input!!
@@MrMGM74 Sure thing. 1) 1 1/2" Y 1) 1 1/2" to 3/4" female threaded reducer 1) 3/4" male threaded to 3/4" coupler 1) 3/4" sch 40 pipe cut to length. Between 16"-24" 1) 3" 10-24 machine screw, nut and washers. 1) 20"-30" piece of rebar I don't know the actual plumber's lingo/names for the fittings, but I hope this helps!!
Sure thing. 1 1/2” Y 1 1/2” to 3/4” reducer 3/4” pipe about 16” long 10-32 bolt & locknut Rebar spike cut 20”-24” long Total cost is $5.00 depending on price in your area. Good luck on the water!!
@@KCLOutdoors yeah most likely on the rail. I drew up your design and added a new modification to it by adding a 45 degree street elbow which should point the rod upward more, and another modification that would accommodate a Guard Dog Automatic Fish Hooker
I did go back and glue the joints. I still used the bolts for added strength. The bottom bolt also keeps the rebar off the rod. Thanks and good luck fishing!
This is the BEST rod holders to date I've seen. Thank You.
Thanks!!
Man these look amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely a beautiful build.
Thanks!
Cool idea thanks for sharing this with us I'm going to make me some of those. Thanks and God Bless

Bom job mi friend 👏👏💪💪 the Brasil
Just made 2. Appreciate it man.
Awesome! You’re welcome
Have seen many Types of Rodholders. L8ke these the Best.
I like these and the 5 gallon bucket holders. Ohio recently went to 3 poles per angler. Guess I’m gonna build a few more
Love these rod holders and the price is the best ...
Thanks. Glad you like them!
I made one today plasti diped the top. To keep from scratching the reel thanks for the video
Great idea! Good luck with them.
Thanks
Muy bueno mijo
I just cut my pvc pipe at an angle and drive it into the ground. Works just as effective.
Nice design though 👍👍
I truly like this top wonder will work as well if I make base pole maybe 24 inches with a longer rebar
Should work fine. The rebar is doing all the work, no matter the length
Mantap

I like using a bolts instead of gue
Very creative!! Why not just use pvc glue?
I went back and glued the joints, but had already finished the video. Thanks!!

Sounds like a good plan!
I like that but what type of bolt is that

What size of rebar you are using?
I used 1/2" rebar. That's what I had on hand.
It's been a few months are you still using this set up and how has it worked out?
This setup has worked great. I've had multiple fish and no problems. I keep a set in my truck for any unplanned trips! I'm working on another video using this setup and a 5 gallon bucket.....
The only thing I'm going to use different is using a rebar pin 24 in been using them for a couple years now
При сильном ветре будет болтать по чем зря..
Have you tried to cap bottom of pvc and place a threaded pole threw it with nuts to keep in it place....
I believe that would work fine. I just like to be able to pound the rebar into the riverbank and then slip the PVC over it. Between the rocks and tree roots, the rebar takes the damage, not the PVC and I can easily replace the rebar. Thanks for the input!!
Last question sorry what size bolt u using and drill holes u drill I'm gonna make one today. Txs
@@papabear1825 my first set had 1/4" bolt but I thought it was overkill, so I dropped down to a 10/28.
@@KCLOutdoors can u give me a list of supplies so i can male some?
@@MrMGM74 Sure thing.
1) 1 1/2" Y
1) 1 1/2" to 3/4" female threaded reducer
1) 3/4" male threaded to 3/4" coupler
1) 3/4" sch 40 pipe cut to length. Between 16"-24"
1) 3" 10-24 machine screw, nut and washers.
1) 20"-30" piece of rebar
I don't know the actual plumber's lingo/names for the fittings, but I hope this helps!!
How long of rebar do you use?
I cut the rebar about 8” longer than the rod holder. Around 24”. Thanks for watching!!
Can you provide me a detailed description on items used and price it cost to make them.. Thank You
Sure thing.
1 1/2” Y
1 1/2” to 3/4” reducer
3/4” pipe about 16” long
10-32 bolt & locknut
Rebar spike cut 20”-24” long
Total cost is $5.00 depending on price in your area.
Good luck on the water!!
Do you have a list o f specific materials with sizes needed. attached to this video?
I'll get one around and post it here.
Looked like
1 1/2” pvc Y
1 1/2” x 3/4” threaded bushing
3/4” male adapter
3/4” pvc pipe
Cómo lo ases es de 3/4
O una pulgada y media y reducis a 3/4?
I reduced to 3/4" to fit the rebar spike better. The 1 1/2" pipe would be too loose on the spike. Thanks!!
You have a boat design version
Let me do some thinking on it. So you want it to fit in a rail ?
@@KCLOutdoors yeah most likely on the rail. I drew up your design and added a new modification to it by adding a 45 degree street elbow which should point the rod upward more, and another modification that would accommodate a Guard Dog Automatic Fish Hooker
love it and very easy i made 2 of them , thanks
Thanks for the feedback and good luck on the water!!! 🎣🎣

Why not glue this together
I did go back and glue the joints. I still used the bolts for added strength. The bottom bolt also keeps the rebar off the rod. Thanks and good luck fishing!
