It all will depend on your intentions! The MSQ is always worth doing, while you're enjoying it, but if you want to do some crafting and gathering, you should! Keep in mind though, a lot of the gathering locations, as well as recipe books, are locked behind MSQ, so you'll be gated to the lower level things. But, there are still plenty of low level materials that still sell for a lot because later recipes need them. Crafting and gathering are very easy to level compared to a lot of other things in the game, so they are easy to pick up whenever either way.
