I bought an expensive hdmi cable adapter for my iPad from the Apple Store. I now watch your show on my tv. I have to say you have the best picture quality of any of the UA-cam channels that I subscribe to. Well done and keep up the good work.

Another thing you can do to your sound source to get the reverb sound, because some in-DAW reverbs are terrible, is play the source out a speaker in a room like a hallway or garage to get a more distant reverberation. Another thing with adding reverb is that it can bring your source noise lower in volume.

First time I bought SONY A7S, I was shocked that there's almost NO NOISE even at 100.000 ISO. I made a video test for 80k ISO, called "RAPTOR ATTACK", NO NOISE AT ALL! XD The only lights I've been using was street light and my PHONE light XD

or rolling shutter... or actually review the 4k of a 4k camera, either the internal or external--and this on a semi professional site with lots of followers and even with advertising. if you don't have time or interest in reviewing a camera then dont--but don't just turn the thing on, wave it about with the wrong SD card then put a headline up in front of tens of thousands of people only to have them find out several minutes in that you didn't really bother to do the bare minimum.
Bryce Dearden cause it's not a super important feature for pros. It's great to have, but not a feature that you really need
had issues with the Af-c so had to return it, will be waiting for A7s iii

When to get hands on with an a7s 2 today and it's definitely worth upgradin from my nikon d7000
Almost threw my a7s to a wall when the a7sii was announced with internal 4K. This video cheered me up a bit. The a7sii internal 4K still loses to a7s 422 4K out of a recorder. Where I live, no companies are even interested in 4K for their promotions.
This camera would be my next camera to get if not for the overheating issue. I do event videography and need my cameras rolling for long periods of time. If they could fix the overheating problem, this would be an amazing camera for me.
I got the a7s ii recently. Upgraded from my Nikon D3100 and it is AMAZING

So have they released an external recorder for the A7s yet to record 4K?
Just finished downloading the Essential Filmmaker Bundle and the content is awesome! I can't get the fire assets to play on QuickTime, however. I'm running OS X El Capitan 10.11.1; any advice?

+CLUTCH1ST It seems amazing in any light for video, but man, a 30 to 60 min battery life kills me. It pretty much makes using the LCD screen not doable or you'll have what, 10 min of video left if you also took pictures?
+iSOBigD Just buy a ton of Wasabi Power batteries. They're small, cheap, and easy to change, and you can shove them in your pocket if you don't feel like carrying a bag of some sort. Plus they last as long as their name brand counterparts.
They make external power solutions for the a7s

So I am able to get a pretty good deal on the A7S II because of my job, but not the FS5. I was originally looking at the FS5 / to upgrade my gear back to a proper purpose-built camcorder. I started shooting on a DVX-100 back in the day, so when DSLRs took over I always felt like something was lacking in ergonomics and build-quality. However when it comes to image quality, do you think the FS5 has any advantages over the A7S or A7S II? Full frame and low light capabilities are pretty impressive and most people I've talked to have shot on 8 bit for years without a problem. Thoughts?

You should do A7s external 4k vs A7sii internal 4k because with this both camerad would be around the same price but the external 4k on the A7s has a better codec

So I have a question I really hope you can answer. I'm getting ready to graduate with a degree in Digital Film Making and I'm beginning to worry about finding a job. I live in a town with very little video production business but need an edge to find a job. What would you look for in someone that wanted to work for your company? Any tips? I'd also like to know more about how to put myself out there and make connections to do some free work so that I could start charging for said work.

About reframing in post. Why did cameras go from 2k straight to 4k? Are there any cameras where I can get just a little over 1080p? I also don't understand why downscaling would make an image look better.
You mean why shooting in 4k would make it look better even after being rendered at 1080p? There is just more information to work with.

Which lens do you recommend for the a7s ii? I am looking into more of a zoom lens since I already have a prime, but I am unsure about what is a good one to get!
It really depends on what you will be using it for. If you are needing to really zoom in a lot (sports, wildlife, etc.) I would say the 70-200f4. However, for a general all purpose lens the 24-70f4 is probably your best bet.

+Davis Productions This would be an ENORMOUS upgrade, the 5D just a big one. However I suggest you buy lights instead of cameras
If you had to choose between the two, for best overall video and stills quality, would you choose the 5D Mark III or A7s II? I'm looking for a new camera and was thinking about getting the 5D Mark III but then I saw the A7s and can't decide.

onenarrowdoor Have you actually used all three of those or are you just basing your opinion off of reviews you've read and such? I'm leaning toward the A7s II for it's low light capability and internal 4k video.
Christian Tischer No I haven't, but have researched them obsessively (thousands of hours) since each camera came out because I shall be parting with up to £10k in the Spring next year. I prefer test videos to reviews (unless it is Phil Bloom or Dave Dugdale) and prefer it if the person has used the camera for months in real world paid situations, rather than bigging a camera or lens up so that you click their link to B&H.
I have been through the mill with every camera released since 2014 - GH4, A7s, NX1, Canons, Nikons, Blackmagic, A7r, A7rii etc.
But like you, I am leaning towards the A7sii or A7s with monitor and rig, because video is 98% of what I will be using it for.
Now watch Panasonic upset the nest again in Q2 next year with a much improved low light GH5 and Samsung produce a killer sensor for Nikon - the whole sorry double-minded shuffling on the fence will start all over again :)
