First look at the AzurePoly Transall C160 in Microsoft Flight Simulator

- A real mixed bag with the AzurePoly Transall C160 in Microsoft Flight Simulator - you can see what's very probably going to be a really great aircraft - it just isn't quite there *yet*.
None of the flight guidance hardware is simulated yet - but the power and engine management systems are very good. That said, the control mappings are seemingly broken in places, which causes confusion too.

Watched a few vids on this plane, just catching up on YT and your's is the best. I think because you come at it like most of us, a simmer learning stuff.

Another great video Jonathan, very much appreciated for sure. One of my biggest issues with aircraft sold in the market place is that they almost never come with flight manuals and I cant imagine why this is. Thanks for taking the time to get us started with the start up procedure guide. A shame really that you have to do that. Best

Notice I didn't start the fuel pumps for engine number 1? And it still ran? :)
Further note - I just got beta working with the engines - it was Microsoft Flight Simulator's fault by the look of it. It "broke" the controller configuration. I got reverse thrust to work. You have to a assign a button to toggle "reverse thrust" Basically how it works for me, I go to idle, than I hit my toggle reverse thrust button, and push my thrust handles forward. That worked for me. Took a lot of trial and error But I figured it out a while back. It works the same with jets. I go to idle, hit my toggle reverse thrust button, push thrust sticks forward and I have controllable reverse thrust. To get out out of it, thrust back to idle, and I hit reverse thrust button again and it gets me back to forward thrust. Additionally Not all turbo props works this way, this is just how I figured it out with this plane. I'm running a X-56 Hotas Throttle and stick.
You don't need to do that - I deleted the profile again, re-copied default, re-mapped the throttle axis, and it all mysteriously started working.
Awesome vid as always. I did see earlier that a person call Fast Times Vero who I think was using the Xbox did a start up run through. Maybe check that out to cross check just in case he might have something to add to what you have done here.Cheers Jonathan.

Sounds like the FMS will be operational with future updates for flight plans, as it sits, it is fantastic!
It's good fun - I think it's debateable that it should have been released in this unfinished state though.

Some observations so far ... I accidentally shut the engines down going back into low-idle as well. Reversers work if you have a 'Toggle Reversers' hold button mapped.
I reset my throttle profile again, and it worked the second time- I think MSFS was having a bad day :)
I hope they do a C130, Captain Sim need their a$$ kicked ...lol Got this on my wishlist and waiting for it to go on sale 😊
Yeah - MSFS need to seriously start vetting what ends up in the marketplace.

THank you for the video. I am really torn by this plane because it looks, and sounds amazing from what i see. But with bugs mentioned below and the lack of FMC and the proper AP, we basically get very little in terms of navigation right now. I was about to get the ATR, and if this had a working FMC it would be the Transal hands down. But right nw i am not so sure.
I'm going to do a video about navigating with it as it stands (when I get time this weekend!) - to help those as mystified as me :)
@5:40min there is the so called "air-ground-lever", that prevents the powerlevers from being put into MaxBeta , GROUND IDLE or reversion during flight. That's the little black lever in the middle of the power levers , on the Aircraft Commanders side. On take-off it ist put into the front position by the flight engineer. THat function is not modelled,yet. It woukd provide that mechanical limit between MaxBeta (47° from T/O power) and Flight Idle(40° from T/O power). So hopefully Azurpoly will model that in future to make it easier. Maybe the numbers help somebody to alter the sections or movement on the throttle portion.

its a lovely a/c i think its got navigation hsi bugs at the moment. it has that bug where sometimes the course deviation needle just instantly goes from one side to the other
I'll have a play with it over the weekend figure out the navigation.

I have bought Azurpoly C160 yesterday from Sim Maker but it does'nt work. I can't figure out what the problem is.
The on-board tablet does not turn on. The APU switch button cannot be used, the systems cannot be started. It's like a demo version. Please help me out because I like to use this program. Maybe the registration key is missing ? I have not received any. I wonder why is it not working. It was to expensive if it 's a demo version. Please give us technical advise. Many Thanks in advance
Had I known about the bugs mentioned below and the lack of FMC and the proper AP, I would have waited - there still doesn't seem to be an update for this - otherwise it looks stunning - shame to spend so much on a decent product only to find the bugs mentioned below and the lack of FMC and the proper AP?
To be fair, the FMC is a bigger project than the aircraft airframe. The autopilot too.
@@jonbeckett wait there is absolutely no autopilot in this plane? no flight plan integration nothing? only manual flights?
Autopilot works perfect for me, so does reverse thrust - i just press B on my Xbox controller and after the thrust goes down it goes into reverse thrust. I didn't need to map an extra botton or something. I'm on Xbox series s and everything works perfect. There's only one issue but I have this with many planes - it always spawns on the runway but there's a solution for this - before I start the flight i clear the data cache, then it spawns on parking position.
I found out afterwards that the simulator had broken the profile - I recreated it and it worked fine.
Oops, forgot the fuel pumps for Engine #1...
Btw, one can use the FMC to set target altitude for the AP (or the PDA if one prefers to use that).

Way too expensive for me, No that I can't afford it just that I'm too cheap! So I'll hold off for now, as I'm still learning and enjoying the ATR that was released last week... Lol

Thats wierd my reverse thrust works and throttles are right in the plane.
Yeah - MSFS threw me a curve-ball. I re-recorded later in the day, after realising what had happened.

Yes - and it's not clear at all. There are numerous cuts in the video, and bugs in the aircraft at the time they recorded it.
In the beginning manuals for everything...now we are getting to the stage of getting nothing..whats all that about? Not good enough imo
A manual did appear - on the developer's website - but not until I'd already gone through the process of reverse engineering the damn thing :)
A friend complained about aircraft where everything is not clickable and it’s not of expert level. I had to explain to him that if it was that easy to fly an aircraft we could all easily be pilots. Simulators have to be dumbed downed for us, especially for those who have flown aircraft in other games, GAMES being the emphasised word.
I was lucky with having 5hrs instruction in a Chipmunk aircraft in the RAF as an SAC and 10 hrs flying gliders and to be a honest I’d be scared shitless if someone said ‘there you go, land this C172’ never mind a C160 😂
Hah :) BUT - in the simulator, you can fly ANYTHING (or at least try to) lol

It is on in-game marketplace, and the price varies by location. It's around $30.

I have an "Aero" issue when i run the engines, looks like 3D thermal.

It does bare a certain resemblance , and the RAF, in its infinite "wisdom" are getting rid of them !!!
