Damn this is getting me pumped for the DCS typhoon. Regarding the canards, (probably already been answered) typhoons center of pressure is incredibly close to its center of mass, so during high AOA turns the center of pressure would move forward because the body lift and the deltas cord line would artificially definitely. So the canards need to lower their AOA to allow for a stable flight. Haven't studied the typhoon but at uni doing aerospace so a good guess.
Fantastic video Sir, picked this up today, what a beast, wonderful to fly in VR. Study level procedures for for an aircraft such as this would probably be off putting to most simmers, CJ simulations have struck fine balance, enough to be convincing, yet not overly complex. Silky smooth performance on my system, resulting in a great flying experience on my HP G2 Reverb. Once again, thanks for your great videos, much appreciated. keep up the good work.😀

Great review/first look as always! I'm definitely going to get this tomorrow. Been looking forward to it since they first announced it. The one we have in the game now was the first aircraft I bought...and its so bad it was almost the last! 🤣As for the indiafoxtecho one that's coming, its not out for a while, and I really want a better Typhoon, so I'll see how much better/different it is when it finally drops. Generally I like both DC's and Indiafoxtecho's products though!
Beautiful. Loved the Kinloss feature especially, my first RAF station as a cadet, love that area, some of my relatives were Ross from Ross-shire just over the Moray Firth from Kinloss. At camp we swam in the Firth off golden sand beaches, and had Dolphins visit us, amazing experience. It is fascinating to know that they had the best weather of any RAF station, and that the region had sandstorms in the past that buried a large manor house completely, palm trees even grow up there. The hardships of a two day "Gotcha" survival course with the station Combat and Survival Officer, in the forest, I recognised the bay where we swam and Findhorn where i had my first pint of Scottish beer, (underage as cadets do lol) and over to Culloden moor where the battle took place. Sad to know the RAF closed it after such a long heroic heritage from ww2 Liberators to Shackleton then Nimrod with 120, 201 and 206 Squadrons RAF, anti submarine, maritime patrol, search and rescue, the SAR helicopter flight (?22 Squadron) , the Mountain Rescue Team who pioneered so much and dealt with so much tragedy including RAF losses. A salute to them all. Thanks for bringing back happy memories. Superb flying too, fascinating aircraft. Another one like the Osprey which triggers my theory of flight and aerodynamics brain cells. Always a pleasure to watch. Thanks.

I am now watching all your input to try to decide which ones to get eventually, and each one makes you want "just one more", always liked the Harrier, the AV-8 is on my list. What a pity the RAF and RN do not have a fully modern and larger version, as was proposed but never built. Tragic when so many great designs from Great British aeronautical advances are lost

If I remember correctly they mentioned in the fighter pilot podcast that the EF 2000 is so instable that when you pull on the stick the canards allready corect downwards to keep the aircraft from departing, just because it is so hypercritical. Not an expert tho but I will ask a friend of mine to confirm that. He is a avionic tech for the Typhoon. Keep up the good work!
@@rising_. not quite right, the aircraft can use either surface to make the pitching moment. Rather than work against the flaperons, they work together. At least that’s what the pilots have told me so far. And now you’ll tell me you’re a typhoon pilot! 😂
To answer your question about weight at the first minute of the video, check in your game setting like accessibility or general the weight system, you have choice between imperial and metric I think. As always a very nice video Chris ! thanks
I once asked the Chief Test Pilot at Warton, Chris Yeo, about the handling of the Typhoon. He described it as like sitting on the bonnet of a car at 100mph and pushing a bike backwards by the handlebars. Incredibly agile but rather unstable. Thankfully, the FBW system took care of things. Another story was Farnborough Airshow, 1980 something. A young graduate had been left alone on the BAE Systems stand. Up rolls a senior bigwig from the Defence Ministry and asks what canards are. 'Ducks, aren't they?' replies the young man. I do miss those days and really appreciate your insights. Keep them flying. PS hopefully they'll do an XPlane version and get the dynamics right.
Definitely want to get home from my work and play flight sim, just recently bought a Xbox series x for the kids (and me haha). Also I'm a ex Military Aircraft Technician originally from the Scottish Borders and can't wait to tear up my parents village in a hornet for the meantime. Incredible simulation and loving your videos. Giving lots of ideas on buying new aircraft for it.
Great video. 👍 foreplanes on the typhoon move in real life the opposite of how they are in this sim. EG pull back on the stick, and the front of the foreplane moves up. Plus the flaparons move up too. The only time both systems aren’t together is once landing and brakes applied. It goes into lift dump mode. Which also just looks cool! Keep the videos coming 👍😁👍
@@cgaviator Lift dump is automatic with WoW and braking action applied when it goes into ground mode with throttles at idle. I’m 90% certain tho I can check.
@@cgaviator Yes mate, believe it’s throttle position/if your on the brakes or not that dictates if it’s in ground or flight logic, yes its all automatic. There is an initial delay in the foreplanes moving down to stop the conflict in a go around. Again not 100% but can check if wanted.
An easy way to think of how canard deflection works is to picture the plane flying backwards, If your used to conventional tail behind the wing then this helps visualize why there reversed in front of the wing.. Or another way to look at it is a playground see saw.. The center of the see saw is the pitching moment of the wing, one side goes down then the other side must go up..
Kinda, but not quite. If the center of pressure is at the middle of the aircraft, then the back flaperons should deflect up to push the tail down. The foreplanes should (in my mind) deflect up (front edge) to increase alpha and pull the nose up. I got this wrong completely wrong in either case, will post a video with an explanation as it still seems alien to me! 😅
@@cgaviator No I'm not talking about the center of pressure..I'm talking about pitching moment.. Stick a bar through the wing where it wants to rotate or pitch around, now anything in front or behind that point will have the opposite influence on its pitching direction..
@cgaviator I see you've corrected yourself to 'foreplanes' after doing some research. Well done. They are indeed foreplanes as they do not move independently of each other.
@@cgaviator You are also correct in your thinking of the foreplane deflection. The leading edge will rise in a positive G manoeuvre. You can see a good example of this if you watch a typhoon performance takeoff from the correct angle, you will see the foreplanes pitch up, lifting the nose off the runway. -RAF Technician :)
@@MrDaiki_ nice! That may be the case for takeoff, but I’ve since found a video of the display jet and the reverse appears to be true in flight. Video angle isn’t great but I’m now doubting myself! 😅 Could it be that the flaperons inout the pitch up and the foreplanes adjust to prevent over g? It’s all wizardry! 😂
@@cgaviator The P3D Typhoon by Dino was great. FDE and systems were great and matched the Typhoon more. I know the CJ mode isn’t supposed to be a 100% accurate but we’ll see what happens!
The behavior of the canards is correct because the Typhoon flies unstable. The special feature of the Taifun is the center of gravity behind the lift point. Therefore, the nose of the Taifun is pushed down by the canards at lower speeds. In supersonic flight the lift point moves backwards over the center of gravity, making it possible to fly 9G turns even in supersonic flight. btw: I still wait for the email from CJ Simulation.
My problem with military jets is they're 5 minute wonders. I need missions to make them worthwhile otherwise I just fly them like a loon without any purpose. Maybe I need to try some of your low-level TOT challenges... Great video as always - and nearly at 10k subs!!
That's fair and i understand. Funny enough it's the opposite for me. I'd happily trade missions and depth system/weapon wise for a chill open world cloud surfing with my favourite jet. As long as everyone is having fun, that's all that matters
I reckon this probably my favourite warbird, all because of the ef2000 game in the last century. I wish there was something as good as the dynamic campaign in that game available now 😢
The fore planes (please don’t call them canards) are a trimming device. Pitch control is initiated by the elevons and the fore planes react to trim out what has happened.
Very cool plane! Looks quite aggressive with all stores. Not as cool looking as the Gripen though. 😀 If i'm not mistaken the canards on the MSFS Typhoon move differently from those on the Gripen.

@@cgaviator I feel like the flight model for msfs, similar to p3d is not good enough for fighters… can’t complain about general and commercial aviation it’s excellent… but fighters feel like an arcade game… even this typhoon with all that weight seems to roll ridiculously fast, like it doesn’t have anything on the wings… also not a big fan of having switches in the cockpit which are not there IRL, like the chocks and covers switches… they should find another way or just not do them at all. Would be better if they put them as a choice in the mfd’s similar to what other virtual commercial aircraft have
hi i am having issues with this plane (the eurofighter typhoon) it keeps shutting down, i have everything set to easy to try to prevent it from shutting down but still the problem remains.
Have you checked that you don’t have an axis or button bound to mixture because sometimes that will trigger engine shutdown even though this aircraft doesn’t use mixture

@@cgaviator I like to short hop the Grob Tutor from Stornoway to Inverness. Beautiful northwest of Scotland scenery before passing Inverness itself. I then follow the Moray eastwards until I reach Lossie, touch-and-go, then a few circuits of Kinloss, before heading for a full stop at Inverness. Great fun, especially with real world weather. Dusk or Dawn flights are always more fun. Some of the views are quite breathtaking for a sim! As for the Tiffy, here's hoping future updates do it the credit that DC designs deserve 😊
Definitely has to be as authentic in every way possible in my book, I will probably wait for at least the authentic sound set or indiafoxtecho version. The model sure does look really good however and the braking the sound barrier was cool. I'd say the cannards are going the wrong way round lol. Another great video Chris.
Oh dear!! its me again. Plz ask them nicely to make it for X-Plane 12 as I would love to fly it in XP12's flight model. This video was made in my backyard as I use Lossie as my home base as I live close and fly up and Moray Firth in my P8 or Hawk, I really like your videos so don't stop. Oh the front fappy things looks odd I would have thought to point up to go up, one last thing does the Typhoon have thrust vectoring?
I like using jets in the sim but the ones i have are lacking in (basic) systems so i'm looking forward to this, i'm a casual flyer so i'm not too fussed about favouring usability over authenticity, autopilot looks easy to use and being able to create new flight plans in-game and use ILS is a huge deal for me and gives me reasons to use it beyond just acrobatics :P. Again as a casual default sounds aren't too much of a negative, i often find issues with custom sounds but if the ones they add later are good then that's a bonus, the cockpit could use some more texture detail, i'll be happy if it's priced in the DC Designs range though the MFD stuff probably doesn't come for free :P.
Have recalibrated my controls and it has seemed to stop although I’ve noticed with the new mfs update that planes are quite wobbly sometimes without touching the controls so that could have something to do with it.
@@cgaviator wind still turned off. Moved the controls around a bit before i took off and it got rid off most of it although i think its just a flight sim issue thats hopefully gone with the next update.
@@cgaviator HUD's are far too modern for ex Hawk people!! Would have thought the signal displaying the HUD data is a fixed signal i.e. displays at the same point regardless of your head position. Your TV picture doesn't move if you sit in a different chair in your house!! Need a 'fairy' avionics guy to give an opinion.

@@cgaviator Look at 15.05-07 as you turn onto the runway, the HUD graphics are not central on the HUD display glass. Again 15.51 in the vertical climb after take off. Next 16.04 off centre to the right. Next 16.21 off to the left. Probably more, didn't re watch all of the video.
Looks fun, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out it has supercruise. As far as the low-speed Asobo FBW weirdness, would you say it handles low speeds better, worse, or about the same compared to the M346? My impression from watching this is the Typhoon is a little more graceful, but that could just be your having more experience than I do.
It doesn’t handle low speeds better, I think it’s the pilot doing the work 😉 I will say at least it keeps ‘flying’ whereas the M346 just stopped pitching completely. But the Typhoon should be carefree handling and in actual fact, I think the Deimos Griffin feels more carefree. But largely it’s all opinion and there are inaccuracies with all of them
@@cgaviator In the situation where the Typhoon stopped pitching up (but otherwise still flew), the M346 practically fell out of the sky. But I'll do some more tests on the M346 before I decide for sure. Also I just realized it's close to the same price as the Top Mach F-22, so I should consider that as well.

You can’t tell me a spitfire canon housing is not okay in an E rated title but bitties flying around yachts is cool. 🤣 They should just call the JDAMs smoke canisters like IFTE did with the 346 - MS isn’t smart enough to know the difference. 🤣
The canards as you call them or the foreplanes, to give them their correct name are used by the FCS to prevent pitching outside limits. If you back stick the aircraft the flaperons will demand max rate pitch up. As the aircraft is completely unstable that pitch rate needs to be actively controlled and that is done by the foreplanes “cancelling out” some of the pitch rate hence full back stick gives a pitch down foreplane movement. Do the same thing on the ground and the result will be no movement in the foreplane as the aircraft has no pitch rate. In normal manoeuvring the movement of the foreplanes is subtle. Also this model, like all the others so far, shows the lack of understanding of the Typhoon leading edge high lift devices shown by the developers! With the gear down the slats are locked in the up position.
My only thought would be, why would the computer command the flaperons to over control in pitch such that the foreplanes have to counteract? My understanding is that it is balanced between fore and aft inputs.
great video, , if they can get a real soundset it would sound way better, the apu start without the igniters clicking sounds weird, also from memory after working on these, the L & R fuel cutoff switch covers were a bright red/orange colour, but looking on Google pics there are grey ones as well, something i didnt know
Typhoon! I'd say it's my favourite high performance fighter, guessing one of the reasons why is because I had the amazing opportunity of being near one up close during a tour of Trapani Birgi airbase. I'm conflicted about this release, even not considering the sounds (that are a deal breaker for me), the cockpit doesn't _quite_ look right, it's no Bredok EF2000, but I can't put my finger on why exactly but it looks too "flat" as in, the screens look like there is some text superimposed on a flat plastic surface, this isn't a problem on the main MFDs but it's obvious on the data entry screen, the buttons also have that odd "flat" look, I can't put my finger on what exactly gives it away, but you can tell immediately that it's not "real". The HUD seems to be decent, maybe as you noted it's not 100% accurate, but I think they replicated it very well. Regarding the Garmin, I think the facelift they did of making the screen look black with the yellow outline would be enough to not be immediately immersion breaking for everyone that doesn't know what's on that screen, but it's not amazing, but I've got used to seeing the default A320 FMS pages (or a very strong resemblance) enough that I got used to that, they might have done a better job of "concealing" it but lack of realistic systems isn't unheard of. I think it's an interesting product that will fit nicely with all the other "semi-realistic" fighters made by the likes of DC and SC Designs, I think I'd rather wait for IndiaFoxtEcho one, which should try and be a step above in terms of realism and system depth, but I don't think it's a bad plane, without knowing the price it's hard to say if it's good value, but I suspect it will be in line with the DC/SC designs stuff. At the end I think it's a decent product, it's a shame that the MSFS' FBW is so restrictive and "basic" and from what IFE has been saying to the public it's a pain to work with, and that has affected their F-35, I think IFE has managed to find a way to modify the MSFS FBW enough to make it fit better in a fighter, I don't know if CJ Designs has.
Bit late i know and you probably figured it out already but just in case at the very rear of the RH console there is a row of 6 switches, the 4th from the left is to turn the FLIR on but there is an extra step you need to do, press the FLIR button on the HUD.

Canards: Yes they should act like that because they are not Elevators but Stabilizers. This is a bug every Eurofighter in FSX had - They did not work correctly, even IndiaFoxtEcho's! This one does, even if it is just simulated because they simly extend with the slats.
What’s your reference? Interested to see or read about them as this topic has caused a 50:50 amongst the community. I’ve had Typhoon pilots tell me when manoeuvring aggressively they notably pitch opposite to what I demo in this model.
Was anyone able to figure out how to change the course for the VOR / ILS? Both are essentially unusable if you can’t set a course lmao. I’m sure there’s a way somewhere!
It looks fantastic however, I think most of fighter jets in MSFS2020 are really over priced, since they don't do any actual fight thing and you have this feeling that it's a flying plastic somehow
are you using a 3rd party scenery pack for RAF lossiemouth? my game looks nothing like this. my elevation change is non existant, there are no posidons lined up on the right... have no tower on your left and the building look generic where yours look almost true to what they actually look like.
Little late to the party, but in regards to the canards: The behavior is probably correct. There is absolutely no physical connection between stick and control surfaces, so the canard´s movements will often look like making no sense. For example if you pull the stick to get a nose high attitude in slow flight, the canards will just give a little impulse to push the nose up, but after that immediately do the opposite to balance the plane, even if you hold the stick pulled back all the time. In straight and level flight, they will also move all the time, without you making any stick inputs. (That´s actually information from video by a real German Typhoon pilot.)

Great video but I think I'll take a pass. Seems 'fun' but not much more. I'll wait for the Harrier and PC21. Plus we should have several other 'free' aircraft in a few weeks with the next sim update!😁
CHALLENGE in the CJ Simulations Eurofighter Typhoon. Start at EGBB r/w 15, clear weather, midday, 50% fuel, one pilot, clean aircraft (no missiles etc), ready stopwatch, NO pre-stopwatch thrust, release parking brake, START timer, ENGAGE full thrust, fly to 30,000ft+, then RTB (return-to-base) r/w 33, land on runway (a pre-numbers landing is acceptable), arrive to a COMPLETE STOP (you will see the Typhoon lurch to a full halt) , STOP your stopwatch timer, engage parking brake, my PB is 2 minutes 24.81 seconds!! ENJOY all, for your best time. Yes, you can exceed mach speed for this challenge!!
@@cgaviator 2m31.74s is absolutely awesome!! I just did 2m26_77s!! I have made only seven under 2m30s including my new PB here. I don't think that is a bug. Test it without airbrake over the runway and you should notice it is probably forward speed prior to landing likely due to a to stow speed with the airbrake engaged. I personally prefer airbrake just prior to touchdown for normal landings with a 160/170kts approach. Your reviews assisted my decision to buy the CJ Simulations Typhoon, thanks.

Personal speed challenges since Microsoft FSX!! My Grandad and Dad were in the RAF so I particularly love flying the Typhoon.
The most beautiful British fighter since the Lightning, but this one is far more capable. As for the canards, I’d think it would be the opposite way round but the physics around this aircraft are complicated so I won’t attempt to guess.
Looks promising, yet missing the according sound pack this aircraft should not be released as payware at this point, thats bad practice and Microsoft shouldnt allow halfbake items in the marketplace at all. Its an essential component and getting a statement for a later update doesnt mean it will happen in reality. Additionally i am missing some depth/3D effects within the cockpit - yet this may got lost within UA-cam compression... Flight model and systems looking good. Asking kindly for 1440p resolution in your videos as this shouldnt be a hassle with NVENC?! THX for your excellent videos!💙
I kinda understand the sound issue so tend to give them leeway on that. Sorry about the quality, I’m not sure my system would support recording at 1440p with the visual quality settings of my sim. I could have a play and see what happens with the newest codecs etc. Thanks for the feedback 👍🏻
Although I respect your point of view, I think we have different concepts of what is a finished product or not. All the resources that Asobo has in the SDK are free to use and I can use them if I want or not. On the other hand, I have not promised that I will include the custom sounds (among other things because I am not making promises so that people will buy the plane). the sounds will be added because it is in the list and when the person in charge of it can do it since he has more clients than me. you are free to decide whether to buy the plane knowing this (that's what reviews are for) just as I am free to launch it now or not. Asobo lets me use those sounds in the meantime and would only reject for launch if the plane had no sound at all. That we include custom sounds is something we do to add value at no additional cost, but it is not something mandatory or a priority to delay a release, or in any case something about us having to apologize. But be 100% sure. They will be added as soon as possible.
@@codenamejack4477 As soon as you are asking for a medium to higher price tag the average simmer will expect the original sound, its by no means added value, yet its a basic item as its a big part of the immersion. And you dont have to call it explicitely a promise, yet promising nonetheless alone giving the impression of an update. Nothing in life is 100% sure, if "the guy" doing the sound for you isnt or the quality is bad... I get why sound is a difficult thing to do, yet i dont like how Microsobo tries to help the Devs at this point, it just leads to poor solutions that degrade the experience and makes planes generic. They have the possibilites and proven their abilities to use their amazing audio tech and the manpower to create a audio catalogue of the most important aircrafts providing (and charging for) devs with amazing sound... Please just make it very clear in the description that you are using generic sounds and dont advertise or even hint the potential update. Sell the product "as it is" and surprise people positively by adding the sound later on - thats the only fair option i could come up with. And as your aircraft looks amazing in the other dimensions i will spend my money on it when its feature complete. THX! 💙
Coming from a Typhoon background, this is a rather poor representation in my opinion, even for a 'lite' simulation of it. Lots of those switches either don't exist or are in the wrong place. The avionics is quite a way off what they're supposed to represent also. Slats shouldn't deploy on the ground like that. The Paveway 4 looks very small , smaller than it should be. Reference for you, they aren't called canards in Typhoon world, they're called foreplanes. Canard are French and since they pulled out of the project early on they became foreplanes. Interesting video, just to many inaccuracies for my liking, even from a 'lite' version
It’s difficult when you have more experience with an aircraft to see it not close enough to expectation. I find that with most aircraft flight dynamics.
@@cgaviator if they already have the manual then they don't need any links. Even just videos on UA-cam are good references for things. I did offer to help them with it but they weren't interested as the demographic isn't those that want a more realistic representation.
I think I misspoke in the video, it’s certainly leaps ahead of the other Typhoon. Knowing the dev, I’m sure it’ll be upgraded as time permits. I eat up any IFT products, they’re top dollar for sure!
Yeah textures look quite basic, similar to the Concorde standard which wasn't great. Much better than the other older offering though! Heatblur's Typhoon for DCS world will be the dogs bx!

It's not bad, and I'll buy it day one (tomorrow or whatever) because I love DC Designs' work... but it's not "far superior" to a lot of other (more expensive, yes) aircraft. And a few seconds before, you zoom in on some bad texture edges, saying precisely: "PBR is pretty good, the textures are nice" ... OK, they're not terrible but they're not that nice and not at this spot (for now at least). It's a bit sad because it's the very beginning of the video and so we can already say that this is not at all an honest review. But as I said, I'll buy it anyway because I'm convinced that even if it's not the best looking aircraft (model and textures), I know that the devs never abandon their products and their products really worth their prices. I'm having already so much fun with all they've done so far and I'm really interested to know if this is going to be even a more powerful beast than the F-15 :)

I can’t wait for the Indiafoxtecho version of this even after this sound update the typhoon still has one of the most un realistic physics I’ve seen the typhoon in real life lands at 150-160 knots where as in this cj sim typhoon it starts stalling below 180 knots and sometimes the fbw glitches out and starts pointing my left or right wing to the side there’s a also a lot of buttons missing in the cockpit and a lot of fake buttons the livery’s are also strange as the panel lines are so obvious where as irl there barley obvious the texturing is also very strange as it’s a weird Matt and there’s no shine at all same with the cockpit the textures are weird and the autopilot panel buttons aren’t supposed to be yellow there supposed to be the same colour as the hud another disappointment is the parachute on the screen next to the ap doesn’t work and finally a little fact the auto pilot and auto throttle are turned on and off by the throttle not the panel
I think the update has made the flight dynamics a lot better. I regularly intercept slow airliners at 150kt and can actually throw it around like an RC model now. The AP is enabled on the buttons left of the HUD. But all that said, it’ll be spectacular what IFT do with it 👍🏻

@@cgaviator yup I have the privilege of knowing a son of a typhoon pilot who gets access on base whenever his dad allows him to. He also gets access to the training sims they have there he told me the physics on the typhoon at low speed are terrible but high speed there fine he said it was easier to land it in the sim rather then the cj tyhpoon I asked dc if he was going to change his physics as he’s partnered with cj to make the typhoon but he told me the physics are fine you just need more skill to land it which I find a very lazy response. if someone in a real typhoon training sim seems to find it easier to land then there sim creation then there’s problems but they don’t want to fix it and they go and blame it on skill which me and my friend (the typhoon pilots son) find very frustrating so we will have to wait for the IFE typhoon to see if it’s any better!!
@@commander_shadow2444 I don’t find the CJ typhoon hard to land I have to say though I have noticed a lot of different aircraft suffering from a loss of control authority close to the runway. Very strange
Pretty sure that the pay load weapons is weigh in lbs not kg been flying the typhoon now for about half a year in msfs low flying is just the best see if u can break my record 45000ft flat out top of britian to the bottom 31 minutes
Damn this is getting me pumped for the DCS typhoon.
Regarding the canards, (probably already been answered) typhoons center of pressure is incredibly close to its center of mass, so during high AOA turns the center of pressure would move forward because the body lift and the deltas cord line would artificially definitely. So the canards need to lower their AOA to allow for a stable flight.
Haven't studied the typhoon but at uni doing aerospace so a good guess.
A fair guess, I've heard numerous answers, including Typhoon pilots. Answers 50.50 so far lol!

Study level procedures for for an aircraft such as this would probably be off putting to most simmers, CJ simulations have struck fine balance, enough to be convincing, yet not overly complex.

I'm definitely going to get this tomorrow. Been looking forward to it since they first announced it. The one we have in the game now was the first aircraft I bought...and its so bad it was almost the last! 🤣As for the indiafoxtecho one that's coming, its not out for a while, and I really want a better Typhoon, so I'll see how much better/different it is when it finally drops. Generally I like both DC's and Indiafoxtecho's products though!

Beautiful. Loved the Kinloss feature especially, my first RAF station as a cadet, love that area, some of my relatives were Ross from Ross-shire just over the Moray Firth from Kinloss.
At camp we swam in the Firth off golden sand beaches, and had Dolphins visit us, amazing experience. It is fascinating to know that they had the best weather of any RAF station, and that the region had sandstorms in the past that buried a large manor house completely, palm trees even grow up there. The hardships of a two day "Gotcha" survival course with the station Combat and Survival Officer, in the forest, I recognised the bay where we swam and Findhorn where i had my first pint of Scottish beer, (underage as cadets do lol) and over to Culloden moor where the battle took place. Sad to know the RAF closed it after such a long heroic heritage from ww2 Liberators to Shackleton then Nimrod with 120, 201 and 206 Squadrons RAF, anti submarine, maritime patrol, search and rescue, the SAR helicopter flight (?22 Squadron) , the Mountain Rescue Team who pioneered so much and dealt with so much tragedy including RAF losses. A salute to them all. Thanks for bringing back happy memories.
Superb flying too, fascinating aircraft. Another one like the Osprey which triggers my theory of flight and aerodynamics brain cells. Always a pleasure to watch. Thanks.

If I remember correctly they mentioned in the fighter pilot podcast that the EF 2000 is so instable that when you pull on the stick the canards allready corect downwards to keep the aircraft from departing, just because it is so hypercritical. Not an expert tho but I will ask a friend of mine to confirm that. He is a avionic tech for the Typhoon. Keep up the good work!

That is 100% correct. The canards are working against the elevons to keep the AC within limits.
@@rising_. not quite right, the aircraft can use either surface to make the pitching moment. Rather than work against the flaperons, they work together. At least that’s what the pilots have told me so far. And now you’ll tell me you’re a typhoon pilot! 😂

I once asked the Chief Test Pilot at Warton, Chris Yeo, about the handling of the Typhoon. He described it as like sitting on the bonnet of a car at 100mph and pushing a bike backwards by the handlebars. Incredibly agile but rather unstable. Thankfully, the FBW system took care of things.
Another story was Farnborough Airshow, 1980 something. A young graduate had been left alone on the BAE Systems stand. Up rolls a senior bigwig from the Defence Ministry and asks what canards are. 'Ducks, aren't they?' replies the young man.
I do miss those days and really appreciate your insights.

Great video. 👍 foreplanes on the typhoon move in real life the opposite of how they are in this sim. EG pull back on the stick, and the front of the foreplane moves up. Plus the flaparons move up too. The only time both systems aren’t together is once landing and brakes applied. It goes into lift dump mode. Which also just looks cool! Keep the videos coming 👍😁👍

@@cgaviator Lift dump is automatic with WoW and braking action applied when it goes into ground mode with throttles at idle. I’m 90% certain tho I can check.

@@cgaviator Yes mate, believe it’s throttle position/if your on the brakes or not that dictates if it’s in ground or flight logic, yes its all automatic. There is an initial delay in the foreplanes moving down to stop the conflict in a go around. Again not 100% but can check if wanted.

An easy way to think of how canard deflection works is to picture the plane flying backwards, If your used to conventional tail behind the wing then this helps visualize why there reversed in front of the wing.. Or another way to look at it is a playground see saw.. The center of the see saw is the pitching moment of the wing, one side goes down then the other side must go up..
Kinda, but not quite. If the center of pressure is at the middle of the aircraft, then the back flaperons should deflect up to push the tail down. The foreplanes should (in my mind) deflect up (front edge) to increase alpha and pull the nose up. I got this wrong completely wrong in either case, will post a video with an explanation as it still seems alien to me! 😅
@@cgaviator No I'm not talking about the center of pressure..I'm talking about pitching moment.. Stick a bar through the wing where it wants to rotate or pitch around, now anything in front or behind that point will have the opposite influence on its pitching direction..
@cgaviator I see you've corrected yourself to 'foreplanes' after doing some research. Well done. They are indeed foreplanes as they do not move independently of each other.
@@cgaviator You are also correct in your thinking of the foreplane deflection. The leading edge will rise in a positive G manoeuvre. You can see a good example of this if you watch a typhoon performance takeoff from the correct angle, you will see the foreplanes pitch up, lifting the nose off the runway.

Video angle isn’t great but I’m now doubting myself! 😅 Could it be that the flaperons inout the pitch up and the foreplanes adjust to prevent over g? It’s all wizardry! 😂

@@cgaviator The P3D Typhoon by Dino was great. FDE and systems were great and matched the Typhoon more. I know the CJ mode isn’t supposed to be a 100% accurate but we’ll see what happens!
The behavior of the canards is correct because the Typhoon flies unstable. The special feature of the Taifun is the center of gravity behind the lift point. Therefore, the nose of the Taifun is pushed down by the canards at lower speeds. In supersonic flight the lift point moves backwards over the center of gravity, making it possible to fly 9G turns even in supersonic flight.

The fore planes (please don’t call them canards) are a trimming device. Pitch control is initiated by the elevons and the fore planes react to trim out what has happened.

@@cgaviator I feel like the flight model for msfs, similar to p3d is not good enough for fighters… can’t complain about general and commercial aviation it’s excellent… but fighters feel like an arcade game… even this typhoon with all that weight seems to roll ridiculously fast, like it doesn’t have anything on the wings… also not a big fan of having switches in the cockpit which are not there IRL, like the chocks and covers switches… they should find another way or just not do them at all. Would be better if they put them as a choice in the mfd’s similar to what other virtual commercial aircraft have

Hey Chris- in the settings, change your units of measurement to U.K./ US accordingly. That will allow you to see the correct weights.

You need to select ILS as the navigation method. Try AIDS then VOR 1 or 2

hi i am having issues with this plane (the eurofighter typhoon) it keeps shutting down, i have everything set to easy to try to prevent it from shutting down but still the problem remains.
As in the engines stop? Or the avionics turn off?
Have you checked that you don’t have an axis or button bound to mixture because sometimes that will trigger engine shutdown even though this aircraft doesn’t use mixture

@@cgaviator I like to short hop the Grob Tutor from Stornoway to Inverness. Beautiful northwest of Scotland scenery before passing Inverness itself. I then follow the Moray eastwards until I reach Lossie, touch-and-go, then a few circuits of Kinloss, before heading for a full stop at Inverness. Great fun, especially with real world weather. Dusk or Dawn flights are always more fun. Some of the views are quite breathtaking for a sim!
As for the Tiffy, here's hoping future updates do it the credit that DC designs deserve 😊

Hello! No, it doesn't, it has always been in the prototype phase but has never materialized.
I like using jets in the sim but the ones i have are lacking in (basic) systems so i'm looking forward to this, i'm a casual flyer so i'm not too fussed about favouring usability over authenticity, autopilot looks easy to use and being able to create new flight plans in-game and use ILS is a huge deal for me and gives me reasons to use it beyond just acrobatics :P.
Again as a casual default sounds aren't too much of a negative, i often find issues with custom sounds but if the ones they add later are good then that's a bonus, the cockpit could use some more texture detail, i'll be happy if it's priced in the DC Designs range though the MFD stuff probably doesn't come for free :P.

I just got this but when I’m flying it seems to roll right without me touching the controls. I’m flying perfectly straight and level and without wind.
Strange, I didn’t notice any rolling tendency.
Have recalibrated my controls and it has seemed to stop although I’ve noticed with the new mfs update that planes are quite wobbly sometimes without touching the controls so that could have something to do with it.

@@cgaviator wind still turned off. Moved the controls around a bit before i took off and it got rid off most of it although i think its just a flight sim issue thats hopefully gone with the next update.

@@cgaviator HUD's are far too modern for ex Hawk people!! Would have thought the signal displaying the HUD data is a fixed signal i.e. displays at the same point regardless of your head position.

@@cgaviator Look at 15.05-07 as you turn onto the runway, the HUD graphics are not central on the HUD display glass. Again 15.51 in the vertical climb after take off. Next 16.04 off centre to the right. Next 16.21 off to the left. Probably more, didn't re watch all of the video.

Looks fun, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out it has supercruise. As far as the low-speed Asobo FBW weirdness, would you say it handles low speeds better, worse, or about the same compared to the M346? My impression from watching this is the Typhoon is a little more graceful, but that could just be your having more experience than I do.
It doesn’t handle low speeds better, I think it’s the pilot doing the work 😉 I will say at least it keeps ‘flying’ whereas the M346 just stopped pitching completely. But the Typhoon should be carefree handling and in actual fact, I think the Deimos Griffin feels more carefree. But largely it’s all opinion and there are inaccuracies with all of them
@@cgaviator In the situation where the Typhoon stopped pitching up (but otherwise still flew), the M346 practically fell out of the sky. But I'll do some more tests on the M346 before I decide for sure. Also I just realized it's close to the same price as the Top Mach F-22, so I should consider that as well.

The canards as you call them or the foreplanes, to give them their correct name are used by the FCS to prevent pitching outside limits. If you back stick the aircraft the flaperons will demand max rate pitch up. As the aircraft is completely unstable that pitch rate needs to be actively controlled and that is done by the foreplanes “cancelling out” some of the pitch rate hence full back stick gives a pitch down foreplane movement. Do the same thing on the ground and the result will be no movement in the foreplane as the aircraft has no pitch rate. In normal manoeuvring the movement of the foreplanes is subtle.
Also this model, like all the others so far, shows the lack of understanding of the Typhoon leading edge high lift devices shown by the developers! With the gear down the slats are locked in the up position.
My only thought would be, why would the computer command the flaperons to over control in pitch such that the foreplanes have to counteract? My understanding is that it is balanced between fore and aft inputs.

great video, , if they can get a real soundset it would sound way better, the apu start without the igniters clicking sounds weird, also from memory after working on these, the L & R fuel cutoff switch covers were a bright red/orange colour, but looking on Google pics there are grey ones as well, something i didnt know

Typhoon! I'd say it's my favourite high performance fighter, guessing one of the reasons why is because I had the amazing opportunity of being near one up close during a tour of Trapani Birgi airbase.
I'm conflicted about this release, even not considering the sounds (that are a deal breaker for me), the cockpit doesn't _quite_ look right, it's no Bredok EF2000, but I can't put my finger on why exactly but it looks too "flat" as in, the screens look like there is some text superimposed on a flat plastic surface, this isn't a problem on the main MFDs but it's obvious on the data entry screen, the buttons also have that odd "flat" look, I can't put my finger on what exactly gives it away, but you can tell immediately that it's not "real".
The HUD seems to be decent, maybe as you noted it's not 100% accurate, but I think they replicated it very well.
Regarding the Garmin, I think the facelift they did of making the screen look black with the yellow outline would be enough to not be immediately immersion breaking for everyone that doesn't know what's on that screen, but it's not amazing, but I've got used to seeing the default A320 FMS pages (or a very strong resemblance) enough that I got used to that, they might have done a better job of "concealing" it but lack of realistic systems isn't unheard of.
I think it's an interesting product that will fit nicely with all the other "semi-realistic" fighters made by the likes of DC and SC Designs, I think I'd rather wait for IndiaFoxtEcho one, which should try and be a step above in terms of realism and system depth, but I don't think it's a bad plane, without knowing the price it's hard to say if it's good value, but I suspect it will be in line with the DC/SC designs stuff.
At the end I think it's a decent product, it's a shame that the MSFS' FBW is so restrictive and "basic" and from what IFE has been saying to the public it's a pain to work with, and that has affected their F-35, I think IFE has managed to find a way to modify the MSFS FBW enough to make it fit better in a fighter, I don't know if CJ Designs has.

Bit late i know and you probably figured it out already but just in case at the very rear of the RH console there is a row of 6 switches, the 4th from the left is to turn the FLIR on but there is an extra step you need to do, press the FLIR button on the HUD.

Canards: Yes they should act like that because they are not Elevators but Stabilizers. This is a bug every Eurofighter in FSX had - They did not work correctly, even IndiaFoxtEcho's! This one does, even if it is just simulated because they simly extend with the slats.
What’s your reference? Interested to see or read about them as this topic has caused a 50:50 amongst the community. I’ve had Typhoon pilots tell me when manoeuvring aggressively they notably pitch opposite to what I demo in this model.
Was anyone able to figure out how to change the course for the VOR / ILS? Both are essentially unusable if you can’t set a course lmao. I’m sure there’s a way somewhere!

Most aircraft in MSFS have a lack of ‘weight’ feeling about them. Tricky to overcome. Think it would involve me changing curves etc.

are you using a 3rd party scenery pack for RAF lossiemouth? my game looks nothing like this. my elevation change is non existant, there are no posidons lined up on the right... have no tower on your left and the building look generic where yours look almost true to what they actually look like.

The canards are almost a counter weight in a sense they are to keep the unflyable shape aircraft flyable. Its mad scientist stuff

Little late to the party, but in regards to the canards: The behavior is probably correct. There is absolutely no physical connection between stick and control surfaces, so the canard´s movements will often look like making no sense. For example if you pull the stick to get a nose high attitude in slow flight, the canards will just give a little impulse to push the nose up, but after that immediately do the opposite to balance the plane, even if you hold the stick pulled back all the time. In straight and level flight, they will also move all the time, without you making any stick inputs.
(That´s actually information from video by a real German Typhoon pilot.)

Start at EGBB r/w 15, clear weather, midday, 50% fuel, one pilot, clean aircraft (no missiles etc), ready stopwatch, NO pre-stopwatch thrust, release parking brake, START timer, ENGAGE full thrust, fly to 30,000ft+, then RTB (return-to-base) r/w 33, land on runway (a pre-numbers landing is acceptable), arrive to a COMPLETE STOP (you will see the Typhoon lurch to a full halt) , STOP your stopwatch timer, engage parking brake, my PB is 2 minutes 24.81 seconds!! ENJOY all, for your best time. Yes, you can exceed mach speed for this challenge!!

@@cgaviator 2m31.74s is absolutely awesome!! I just did 2m26_77s!! I have made only seven under 2m30s including my new PB here. I don't think that is a bug. Test it without airbrake over the runway and you should notice it is probably forward speed prior to landing likely due to a to stow speed with the airbrake engaged. I personally prefer airbrake just prior to touchdown for normal landings with a 160/170kts approach. Your reviews assisted my decision to buy the CJ Simulations Typhoon, thanks.

The most beautiful British fighter since the Lightning, but this one is far more capable. As for the canards, I’d think it would be the opposite way round but the physics around this aircraft are complicated so I won’t attempt to guess.

Looks promising, yet missing the according sound pack this aircraft should not be released as payware at this point, thats bad practice and Microsoft shouldnt allow halfbake items in the marketplace at all. Its an essential component and getting a statement for a later update doesnt mean it will happen in reality. Additionally i am missing some depth/3D effects within the cockpit - yet this may got lost within UA-cam compression... Flight model and systems looking good. Asking kindly for 1440p resolution in your videos as this shouldnt be a hassle with NVENC?! THX for your excellent videos!💙
I kinda understand the sound issue so tend to give them leeway on that. Sorry about the quality, I’m not sure my system would support recording at 1440p with the visual quality settings of my sim. I could have a play and see what happens with the newest codecs etc. Thanks for the feedback 👍🏻
Although I respect your point of view, I think we have different concepts of what is a finished product or not. All the resources that Asobo has in the SDK are free to use and I can use them if I want or not. On the other hand, I have not promised that I will include the custom sounds (among other things because I am not making promises so that people will buy the plane). the sounds will be added because it is in the list and when the person in charge of it can do it since he has more clients than me. you are free to decide whether to buy the plane knowing this (that's what reviews are for) just as I am free to launch it now or not. Asobo lets me use those sounds in the meantime and would only reject for launch if the plane had no sound at all. That we include custom sounds is something we do to add value at no additional cost, but it is not something mandatory or a priority to delay a release, or in any case something about us having to apologize. But be 100% sure. They will be added as soon as possible.
@@codenamejack4477 As soon as you are asking for a medium to higher price tag the average simmer will expect the original sound, its by no means added value, yet its a basic item as its a big part of the immersion. And you dont have to call it explicitely a promise, yet promising nonetheless alone giving the impression of an update. Nothing in life is 100% sure, if "the guy" doing the sound for you isnt or the quality is bad...
I get why sound is a difficult thing to do, yet i dont like how Microsobo tries to help the Devs at this point, it just leads to poor solutions that degrade the experience and makes planes generic. They have the possibilites and proven their abilities to use their amazing audio tech and the manpower to create a audio catalogue of the most important aircrafts providing (and charging for) devs with amazing sound...
Please just make it very clear in the description that you are using generic sounds and dont advertise or even hint the potential update. Sell the product "as it is" and surprise people positively by adding the sound later on - thats the only fair option i could come up with. And as your aircraft looks amazing in the other dimensions i will spend my money on it when its feature complete. THX! 💙

Coming from a Typhoon background, this is a rather poor representation in my opinion, even for a 'lite' simulation of it. Lots of those switches either don't exist or are in the wrong place. The avionics is quite a way off what they're supposed to represent also. Slats shouldn't deploy on the ground like that. The Paveway 4 looks very small , smaller than it should be.
Reference for you, they aren't called canards in Typhoon world, they're called foreplanes. Canard are French and since they pulled out of the project early on they became foreplanes.

@@cgaviator if they already have the manual then they don't need any links. Even just videos on UA-cam are good references for things. I did offer to help them with it but they weren't interested as the demographic isn't those that want a more realistic representation.
I gotta say, the modelling and texturing doesn't look all that great. For FSX maybe, but not for MSFS. I'll be waiting for IndiaFoxtEcho one.
I think I misspoke in the video, it’s certainly leaps ahead of the other Typhoon. Knowing the dev, I’m sure it’ll be upgraded as time permits. I eat up any IFT products, they’re top dollar for sure!
Yeah textures look quite basic, similar to the Concorde standard which wasn't great. Much better than the other older offering though! Heatblur's Typhoon for DCS world will be the dogs bx!
"Modeling appears far superior to anything else I've seen in the sim so far" (1:33) ... It's not bad, and I'll buy it day one (tomorrow or whatever) because I love DC Designs' work... but it's not "far superior" to a lot of other (more expensive, yes) aircraft.
And a few seconds before, you zoom in on some bad texture edges, saying precisely: "PBR is pretty good, the textures are nice" ... OK, they're not terrible but they're not that nice and not at this spot (for now at least).
It's a bit sad because it's the very beginning of the video and so we can already say that this is not at all an honest review. But as I said, I'll buy it anyway because I'm convinced that even if it's not the best looking aircraft (model and textures), I know that the devs never abandon their products and their products really worth their prices.
I'm having already so much fun with all they've done so far and I'm really interested to know if this is going to be even a more powerful beast than the F-15 :)

I can’t wait for the Indiafoxtecho version of this even after this sound update the typhoon still has one of the most un realistic physics I’ve seen the typhoon in real life lands at 150-160 knots where as in this cj sim typhoon it starts stalling below 180 knots and sometimes the fbw glitches out and starts pointing my left or right wing to the side there’s a also a lot of buttons missing in the cockpit and a lot of fake buttons the livery’s are also strange as the panel lines are so obvious where as irl there barley obvious the texturing is also very strange as it’s a weird Matt and there’s no shine at all same with the cockpit the textures are weird and the autopilot panel buttons aren’t supposed to be yellow there supposed to be the same colour as the hud another disappointment is the parachute on the screen next to the ap doesn’t work and finally a little fact the auto pilot and auto throttle are turned on and off by the throttle not the panel
I think the update has made the flight dynamics a lot better. I regularly intercept slow airliners at 150kt and can actually throw it around like an RC model now. The AP is enabled on the buttons left of the HUD. But all that said, it’ll be spectacular what IFT do with it 👍🏻

@@cgaviator yup I have the privilege of knowing a son of a typhoon pilot who gets access on base whenever his dad allows him to. He also gets access to the training sims they have there he told me the physics on the typhoon at low speed are terrible but high speed there fine he said it was easier to land it in the sim rather then the cj tyhpoon I asked dc if he was going to change his physics as he’s partnered with cj to make the typhoon but he told me the physics are fine you just need more skill to land it which I find a very lazy response. if someone in a real typhoon training sim seems to find it easier to land then there sim creation then there’s problems but they don’t want to fix it and they go and blame it on skill which me and my friend (the typhoon pilots son) find very frustrating so we will have to wait for the IFE typhoon to see if it’s any better!!
