- Today we're taking a look at another new plane that has arrived in Microsoft Flight Simulator - the FSR500 from FSReborn. It's an accurate replica of the Piper M500, and has wonderful system and avionics modelling, and a great flight model. It's available from the Flight Sim Marketplace - Enjoy!
*IMPORTANT* - the documentation I wondered about is linked to from the tablet :)

Apologies for calling the developer "Flightsim Reborn" in the video - they are of course called "FSReborn"! And the documentation I wondered about is linked to from the tablet :)
I emailed Raul and he said that as always it's a PC release ahead of console releases. I didn't ask him why but there you go...
@@theaustralianconundrum As with all developers, they finish the product, then get it on sale. The marketplace has a queue, and a process that everything has to go through - by your logic, they shouldn't sell it to anybody until it's in the marketplace? Remember the marketplace also takes a percentage... which is why I go via the developer stores if I can. Don't even get me started about the rampant piracy that goes on with MSFS :/
Oh I understand now. Console is a closed system. Cheers.@@jonbeckett
There is a full manual in the tablet pull up the QR code and scan it
@@TPHI17 Did you read the message at the start of this thread? :)
This developer has taken this plane to another level in the sim.Well worth the money .
The starter procedures for this plane are modeled exactly how the real one is. You can just UA-cam a m500 startup video and follow it in the SIM and your plane will work. This plane is by far one of the most accurate I have ever seen. You can even accidentally hot start this plane. Everything works, right down to the breakers. PMDG would charge upwards of $80 for this kind of quality. The integration with Sim brief and navigraph can be clunky at times. The plane also tends to ctd from time to time. I highly recommend it, it is an excellent plane. I will be keeping my eye out for other releases by this developer in the future.
I bought this several days ago and I was blown away by the attention to detail and work the developers over at FSReborn put into this plane. These guys put their heart and soul into this aircraft and it shows as it's a "complete flying experience" when you have passengers and all realism settings turned on. Right down to the SUV that pulls up and drops the passengers/clients off, it's very immersive watching it all unfold. *WELL WORTH* the asking price! Thanks for another great video as always!
Great video as always! Thank you, Jon.
If you look just below Rudder Trim in the middle screen, you must adjust it to 3.1 which lines it up with the green bump on the line. Then you should have take off configuration which s is similar to the Vision/Honda Jet. This plane uses the GTN1000NXi. Should be fun to fly. I see that it's not as fast as the TBM 850/930.
Yep - it's either the trim or the ignition. I'm suspecting the ignition - I moved the trim while talking, and it didn't remove the warning.
There is a complete manual available on the tablet. It's also available in the aircraft's folder in your MSFS community folder. For normal operations, there is also the built in MSFS checklist available from the menu.
For those with somewhat marginal hardware, be aware that it is a considerably heavier FPS hit than the Black Square 850. Given they both are superbly crafted in and out, I suspect it's more to do with the 500's glass panel. It's my own fault for running three giant screen 4k teles at top res with a (by current standards) paltry 3070 TI, forces one to set most the graphics down to medium. So when you've taxed the system up like I have, you will notice the FPS difference between the two. So do the passengers, the ungrateful needy twits. On a 100 minute first flight they complained about temperature, got hungry/thirsty twice, then bitched about a rough landing when said FPS problem hit big time going into a more detailed airport. Besides being invisible they don't have working arms, one has to fasten their bloody seatbelts for them. Yet they get this limo service bla bla. They only thing missing from the 500's maintenance catalog is a "teach pax some basic manners" correction. Eat your breakfast at home or Starbucks, and tell the pilot Thank You Kindly for not bouncing you into some flighsim building or trees! 😅
Really looking forward to picking this up on Xbox (hopefully) next week!
Thanks foe the review! 👍
I will have to buy this plane in the future! This and the Cirrus SR22 is amazing both are up on top prop planes to fly
For the T/O config, your rudder trim must be 3.0 degrees right, into the green sector.
Thanks… I thought I’d tried everything…..
That plane is climbing fast even in strong winds! powerful motor :)
I bought it yesterday after watching a couple of vids on UA-cam (one of them being an interview/demonstration with Raul), and I took it for a spin until the early hours of this morning. There is something about it that I like a lot! PS: I flew her with the pillow mode off:)
Thank you Johnathan for another wonderful video, I really enjoy your work! Regarding the M500, looks like an amazing plane. The only fault I can find is that it is not a helicopter ;)
Looks amazing, will surely buy it
In the FAQ through the EFB the first question is Where can I find documentation? There you will find links to the manual and tutorial videos. The Take off Configuration, is Fuel Pumps, and Ignition set to Manual. The Right Rudder is set to 2-3 degrees, Elevator Trim is with in Take off Range, and flaps above 20 degrees.
Yep - I found out about the manual afterwards - note the pinned comment :) That's interesting about takeoff config - the only thing I had missing then was ignition still on manual.
Patiently waiting for the PC-12, but with no clear dates the FSR500 sure is tempting
The NDAs have been lifted on the preview copies that have been sent out and preview videos are starting to appear, it's VERY close.
You can find the manual in the top faq for the tablet. It is a qr code.
Great shout - thankyou - not sure how I missed that (it's been a long day!)
Will be waiting for the Sim work studios PC12 coming shortly!
I live in Vero Beach, home of Piper and where these are made, I cannot wait to get my hands on this. TBM's have met their match.
The reason why your getting the out not in TO warning is for two reasons, you have to make sure your trim is trim down to TO, and you have to make sure the rudder trim is at least 2 deg set to the right or you will get that warning. Also your ignition and your fuel pump need to be set to man.
I think it's more likely the ignition.
@@jonbeckett yes but rudder trim is much needed, irl its 500 shp pulling on the front with a massive prop, the slipstrim is quite powerful and you'd need to push quite a lot on the rudder to keep the centerline, same story with the tbm850
Next to the SWS PC-12, this is at the top of my XBOX wishlist!
It was taken off xbox market place after about 20 mins -even though the market place splash screen still advertises it. Supposedly now their site says pc only.
@@ericmooney5740 It was always supposed to be a staggered release so it probably just appeared there by error. XBOX release will be in a few weeks. I’m on their Discord on a daily basis!
No night internal night lighting review. This just in, Aircraft don’t always fly during the daytime.
I´ve been waiting for so long for Simwork Studios Pilatus PC-12. Now I am wanting this as well......hmmmmmm
Well, I miss the alignment marks in the cockpit.
It looks like your T.O. Config is illuminated because of the rudder trim.
I think it's because I turned the ignition off.
I likely would have bought this if the Piper decals and standby altimeter were included. Plus I prefer non-marketplace add-ons. It’s like a mock-up but not a real M500. 😑 Yes I know they’re adding the standby altimeter, but as long as this was being developed, why not truly finish it?!?!
Have the TBM 850….may add this one. Will be skipping the PC-12 from SWS, whenever they finally wrap it up. Some great plane options available though.
I hope it is available for xbox. They are not getting cool planes. They are trying to sell us cars now.
What’s your verdict on the TBM 850 - worth it? I’m tossing up between that, and this FS500
@@ArrRoh …. It is one of my absolute favorites to date. Truly is. I suppose if you prefer a full glass cockpit, then the tbm may not be as appealing. But the detail, functionality, and overall design of the TBM itself is amazing. I fly airliners most of the time, but the 850 is by far my next most used aircraft, and I have a pretty full hanger in the sim.
@@jay-rus4437 amazing. Thank you. That’s exactly me too - fly mostly airliners but love analog cockpits. You’ve convinced me. Thank you 🙏🏽 🎉
@@ArrRoh…. Did you pickup the 850 yet? What do you think? Love that plane. Its one that I wouldnt want to go without now in the sim. I can have a lot of enjoyment with just the fenix a320 (or pmdg 737), and the tbm 850. Third following these two is the simworks kodiak 100 just to get to some of the airports I cant with the first two.
Looks great, but I am still waiting for the sws PC-12.
Out of curiousity, could i ask why? Don't get me wrong, i do hope SWS does well with her, but honestly, the two main competitors are now out, both really well made and both with more features (like failures) than the PC-12 is supposed to ship with. So the PC-12 already seems kinda behind even though it's still not out.
I was waiting for the PC-12 myself for a good while, but i just don't see a reason to go for it, anymore. So i'm a bit curious, do you have a particular reason? Is there a specific feature or advantage to the PC-12 that i'm missing?
Nice feature rich plane but looks very similar to the TBM850 and TBM930. So I'll probably pass on this one for now.
Just hope you could get for free from the developer. It’s quite expensive. It’s on my list, for sure…. But just not for now. Congratulations on another excellent video. You must be the most nice MSFS UA-camr out there.
I tend to buy planes - then I'm not obliged to tow the line :)
Why can’t developers seem to provide any sort of documentation for their aircraft?
They did - I missed it - there is a QR code in the tablet.
For whatever in VR It orients my setting position facing the IPad and I cannot seem to get it to reset
Hi Jonathan, Have you a checklist for this aircraft I could Buy. Regards Jeff
Hey guys, I updated my fsr500 last night, I also had a mandatory game update today. Ever since, all 3 of my screen just stay black, even the tablet. Me and a couple friends have this issue now. Does anyone know how to fix it? (Xbox)
This isn't the best place to ask - I'm literally the only person likely to read it, and I don't have an XBox :)
Take off config warning on the CAS , can’t figure that one out either. It seems to go away shortly after takeoff. Also the cabin temp is always too hot no matter how I set it. Talking 35c…. On long flights, things seem to freeze up .
This is a great looking ad on, but needs a little work. Let’s see how they take care of it. 😢
The config warning is caused by the trim :)
How does this compare to the TBM930? Which one's better, funner to fly, fatser, made better?
It just has more that you can fiddle with - more is simulated. The 930 is very good too though.
@@jonbeckett thanks for replying so fast! I love flying the TBM, it's a very fun plane, and easy to land.
Have you seen the bird strike yet?
Mine will not stay running. Won’t even start at start up. I can go to mid flight and the engine dies. Yea. Condition lever is forward….
Any suggestions with this?
carenado had one of these. I loved flying it in xplane. I wonder if you can get the manual from them? I could send a Copy to you. I will look tomorrow. Great flying
There is a manual. He just didn’t really bother to look for it
I missed the link to it in the tablet - there's a difference :)
Love the scenery, what is the airport addon for this video?
PilotPlus Wycombe Air Park, and Orbx Elstree
@@jonbeckett thank you for the info.
Whilst I like the spontaneity of your videos, they make them feel genuine and relatable, I got to say that you could have prepared a bit better for this one. Going on about the “missing” manual was not great and it’s not fair to the developer either.
Yep - and being away for the last 4 days hasn't helped. I've had countless people tell me over and over and over again that I missed the manual :)
The documentation links are available on the EFB tablet under the first FAQ
“This plane is fast” TBM 850 or 930”-Hold my beer
Maybe I should have said "this plane is POWERFUL" lol
Oil psi 0 but no maintenance needed any ideas?
Good question :)
Video is old now, but just follow the checklists inside msfs… :)
Yep :)
hello or got the tablet
Has anyone set up beta and reverse throttle with a quadrant?
I'll take a look next time I have the sim running. The better place to ask would be the VirtualFlight.Online discord server (in the support channel).
@@jonbeckett Thanks a lot Cap!
Can't get this thing started. Prop won't even turn. Followed the checklists like nine times. Anyone got any ideas?
Also the generator breaker won't stay in. I'm running MSFS beta. That might be the issue?
You've broken the generator - you can repair it in the tablet
Thanks I'll take a look at that. I'm running MSFS beta, could that be a prob?
@@GREGBONSTROM nope - it will be fine
Yep, that was the problem. Thank You so much. Saved me many headaches! 😊. Flying around like a king now!
I was so excited when I turned on my Xbox series x and saw it in the Market Place window: “FSR500” with a beautiful picture of the aircraft, and I though “I’m buying it right now”. But unfortunately it is not there. Probably for PC users only. So why they advertise it on Xbox?
No idea.
You did when you answered me. lol. As with all developers, they finish the product, then get it on sale. @@jonbeckett I know, I'm just saying it. By the way, I watch all your videos. They are FANTASTIC!
It’s coming to Xbox. It just takes a little longer to test it for that platform but it is 100 percent coming.
I know@@boozerbrandy
This or the r310?
Both :)
Real question, what is most authentic/deep between this, the TBM850 and the SWS PC-12?
I would say TBM850 - but I am biased towards analogue instruments over glass screens :)
Same, and I love my Analog King Air so that speaks to me. Tyvm!@@jonbeckett
Hi johnathan. Could the take off config message be related to the inirtial separator settings?
I think it's because I turned off the ignition system - I'll check when I get back later next week (I'm going away for a few days)
Have you figured it out. I just got it and I'm having the same issue. Thanks
I think this is a buy for me . Ps. Its a g1000 gps
I thought as much - I always mix up the various glass screen systems.
@Jonathan Beckett, Can you please, make a short video, on how you made the inside cameras, maneuver, so flawlessly. As you can tell by my videos, I can't just get the drone camera, to work smoothly, not matter, how I adjust my speed, rotation, etc. I realize this might be a cockpit camera, so I am very interested, in how you did that smooth views or viewing, I miss this plane from FSX, I believe it was a Carendo one?
While in drone camera mode (press INSERT) I use an XBox controller. They are pre-configured to control the drone camera. I go into the camera menu (while in drone mode) that lets me adjust drone speed). The Xbox controller has two analogue sticks - one moves the camera, the other rotates it. While inside the aircraft I use the cursor keys - I have re-mapped them though, so they slide the pilot left, right, forwards and backwards. As for pointing the camera while in pilot mode, I either use the right mouse button (and drag the mouse), or switch on head tracking, and use the Tobii eye tracker.
@@jonbeckett I take it, that the same thing works, a Logitech controller? What cursor keys, do you use, the ones on the keyboard assignments, what are YOUR remapped buttons? I watched the CJ4 WooselMod v0.8.1 video over and over again, I get the inboard flight display, but cannot zoom, in to activate the drop-down laptop or move to the lady in the back to operate the other drop-down laptops, I have no problem, opening or shutting the cabin door, however, thanks in advance. Also, can you leave a link to the manufacture, of the Malibu vs. the Marketplace, I've had bad results, with planes from Marketplace, like the Spartan, I bought?
As MSFS 2020 already has a very capable Daher TBM 930 of higher spec and performance to this Piper I see no advantage in it's purchase.
I was thinking the same thing and even said so earlier but deleted the comment cause it might have sounded entitled.
Entitled? Not at all. The real life TBM 930 are going for US$3 million for a 2017 delivered model. This FSR500 is obviously the Piper M500 with a 2023 delivery price of US$3 million As for the MSFS Series X version? The default TBM 930 is very highly detailed and absolutely worth the price of FS 2020 if this were the only plane available. It is that good and it's been around for years. Cheers.@@superskullmaster
The Default TBM 930 is mediocre at best. There's a reason it's called "default".
It's absolutely excellent. Name what is mediocre about it? @@KAPAFlyer
@@theaustralianconundrum In terms of fidelity its not in the same ballpark. I'd buy a study level TBM 930 or 940 in a heart beat!
i have their sting and that's toy real, alive, cool and,,,, touchable. and afaik only one with modeling safe land chute.
hmm wondering if I should get this to replace the Cessna RGII ?
It's very good. It does require a fairly beefy computer though.
@@jonbeckett It's done. My fav small plane now :) this is probably more of a Garmin question but can we adjust speed to stay stable during AP ? I noticed speed changes if I touch the throttle.
@@Rookblunder it doesn't have auto-throttle. It does have IAS mode on the autopilot though - which you can use to control climb and descent (set target airspeed, then use power to climb or descend).
Regarding the keypad being INOP, the beta introduced the HVARS to enable it. I assume the dev will be quick to integrate it as soon as it is stable. ua-cam.com/video/zUF8UNuDmTU/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared&t=415
Did you rush this video Jonathan? You complain about not being able to "find the book" and lo and behold, at 5:48 the first item in the FAQ is "Where can I find documentation about FSR500"...

There is a Q-code for the manual, I used it, it say's 145 pages, I can't find it though ?
does someone know what STALL HT INHIB on the pfs means?..
Heated Stall Warning -
This will deice the stall warning system and is turned on with the STALL HEAT switch. If it is turned on
when the OAT is 5°C or greater, the system will be inhibited to prevent an over-temperature damage and
the STALL HT INHIB Case advisory message will display. Hope that helps :)
Does the simbrief import only work on the pc version of the sim? I cant import a flightplan on my console🤔
I'm guessing so.
Its actually bound to your account. You‘re able to import your last generated flight.

Nothing like spending $35 USD on a plane you can’t use in VR
Well then don’t buy it for VR

Could the T\O Config CAS message be due to the trim not being set for take off ?
I tried that - didn't make any difference.
You definitely need the rudder AND elevator trim set correctly for TO or you will get the CAS message
