  • We are back at it with another short on time workout. If you don't have much time and you want to crush shoulders this is the video for you. We do just 4 sets yes 4 sets. We start with a feeler set for each exercise that gives us an idea of what weight to use for the only set we do. We take each set to failure or beyond failure. This workout should take around 12-15 minutes depending on how many people you are workout out with. Give this shoulder workout a try and let me know what you think.

John Meadows is an American professional bodybuilder and entrepreneur with an intriguing story. While John now boasts a successful career as an IFBB Pro bodybuilder and fitness company owner, his journey towards the top was extremely difficult.
Growing up, John never met his father, and his mother died at an extremely young age. This meant John only had his grandmother to take care of him. When his grandmother tragically passed away in 1999, John was left alone without his family to support him.
As the years went by, John continued to face new adversities in his life. During his early days in bodybuilding, John suffered from a rare colon disease. After fighting the disease for several months, his colon burst - almost resulting in his death. Luckily, John was quickly rushed to an emergency room where his life was saved. After several months of recovery, John was finally back on his feet.
Coming back into bodybuilding, John used the very obstacles that almost cost him his life as ‘fuel’ to grow stronger. Ever since he recovered from the colon surgery, John has gone on to become a successful bodybuilder, entrepreneur, and inspiration for many people all over the world.

Yes! That's how I do "face pulls" too, for the exact same reasons! It's neither good for your shoulders, nor optimal for loading to bring your hands way up high. I always felt embarrassed, like people who saw me would think I was doing shitty face pulls, but now I got The Mountain Dog on my side. Yeeeaaaaa boy!

massive respect to the Mountain dog ,
i've incorporated alot of training techniques from your videos
partial , failure sets , alot of the back techniques you use , tricep work etc . I trained very similarly before albeit alot lighter weight , but a good barometer for me if i'm pushing myself is that funny face everybody makes when really training hard.
I would encourage everyone to really listen to the tips mountaindog gives , alot of them nuggets are easily missed when glossing over the video .

I have a torn rotator cuff and side laterals kills my shoulder and can barely lift 5 lbs dumbbells with that exercise. mountaindog1 torn my rotator several years ago, PT had me do some side laterals, “door hinge rotator cuff exercises, and a modified shoulder crossover all to strengthen the muscles around the tear. Doctor did tell me to avoid overhead presses. He also says surgery but I refused surgery and elected to go the rehab route. I started lifting again back in April doing moderate weight with some occasion heavy weight. I did some modified laterals and light to moderate shoulder presses. I was going good till about About a week ago I felt a pop in my bad shoulder I gave it a week to heal up, and stretch. And so here we are I can do shoulder presses, reverse flys with no pain, but the side laterals kill. Thanks for the prompt reply much appreciated, hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

You're calling those "chest pulls" (the sets you did) but those _are_ facepulls. You're just aiming slightly lower. The external rotation part is more for your rotator cuff than rear delt building. I agree with you saying "you won't build rear delts with facepulls"
I'd call the sets the third guy did (the ones you said you should have performed) a "high cable row" or "rear delt cable row"

I've been doing the swings with a 1-2 second eccentric because I suck at rear delt activation. Burns so goooood.

    Have an idea.
Why don't put out a serie of videos concentrated on different methods for intensity and how to apply them on different exercises.
"How to apply cluster sets on XXX"
And also the science behind the them, if there is any.
