Getting a sensible insurance quote on any Range Rover or Land Rover is a major concern. I am surprised that anyone in the UK can afford to keep one or buy one.!
I tried confused the price comparison website and the quote was £650. Range Rover garaged at night and not in central London. The AA wanted £4k they clearly didn't want the business but smaller specialist insurers do.
It doesn’t how much you bash LR or this SV this will always sell. Don’t care about the reliability, the fuel consumption it’s all about having what other people can’t.
I sat in the Sport at a showroom and the plastics and sounds felt cheap to touch or use. Looks great, but it felt like a toy inside. Nothing felt damped except the glove box and steering wheel stalks. Shocked that it was £100k plus with options added. Didn't feel any more luxurious inside than a Tiguan.
I had a Range Rover Sport... lasted 6 weeks until the constant paranoia got to me and curtain twitching every time i heard a noise i presumbed it was getting stolen, and i live in a nice low crime rural area. Great car, not worth the mither.
I've just sold my house & moved into one of my vacant rentals in not the greatest area....every morning I get up expecting my car to be gone or badly vandalised. Great fun!
I believe they are, all new cars have better security and update are being rolled out to older vehicles, but the insurance companies don't want to take the risk as there is no hard evidence yet.
Couldn’t agree more, I had 2022 SVR, then went to this. Of course the performance is different but the feel and controls in the car we poorly put together old model way more practical
Nice car, but why would anybody buy one? Might be better with a key only starter “Landrover?” If you live in London & can’t insure it park it 100 miles away & catch the HS2 to get home quickly.

It's amazing how such a low-quality vehicle can be so expensive and sought-after. It's not like Land Rover is new to building cars. They've been building the Range Rover for over half a century, and they still can't get it right.
I heard it's a pleasure to drive and that's why people buy it. I don't think it's low quality and i don't think it's less reliable than any other European car. I really don't think a new BMW, Audi, Mercedes will run passed 300k km without some fixing. Myself i like Japanese cars
My Brother has a top spec Velar which he hasn’t had for over 8 months and just had a entire new engine fitted, funniest thing of all was the main dealer couldn’t fix , it had to be done by a local specialist dealer. No wonder so many people including myself only buy german cars as apart from wear and tear they are bullet proof.
Good grief insurance is expensive in the UK!! I only pay around £450 pounds per year for third party, full comp for my Discovery 5 and that also includes insurance for riding bicycles (as is now mandatory here in Japan). It is true that we have compulsory insurance and optional insurance here. The compulsory insurance is paid at the time of the bi-annual M.O.T. to the Land Transport Bureau and is about £270 (covers 2 years) but is insufficient cover, hence almost everyone gets optional insurance on top. It is still way less than a £1000 pounds per year. As for Land Rover's insurance, it is administered and provided by Wrisk Transfer Limited who also do insurance for BMW and Volvo etc.. It makes sense that Land Rover are also therefore refusing to insure vehicles of people living in certain high risk areas. The only way that Land Rover can fully offer all customers insurance is if they set up their own subsidiary insurance company. Even then it isn't that simple as all insurance companies will themselves take out insurance with reinsurance companies such as Lloyds, Swiss Re and Transatlantic Reinsurance Company etc. which will have limits on the amount of risk they are willing to undertake.

Matt says that all of Troy's other Land Rovers have been "perfectly fine". Our Land Rovers don't have any more problems than our friends BMWs and Mercs. Every mfg, including Rolls Royce and the other very high end ones, has some issues with their vehicles. The important thing, as Troy said, is that the dealer was wonderful in helping him through his issues. I can say the same: our issues have been minor if any, and when they happen our dealer is great. But, bash on 🙂

It’s about time car manufacturers were hung out to dry for the 1990’s level security they still put on modern cars! There is enough aftermarket stuff they could copy and use!! If they can force them to meet safety and planet saving crap, they can force them to build more secure cars!
@@lolitapitpong3826 Of course they do. I paid for an aftermarket immobiliser that even with my key you can’t start the car, bypass the OBD port or beat it with a scanner. Fantastic resale values, mine locked me out in the middle of a field with the engine running, headlights on, couldn't use the app to open as it thought I was driving it, eventually AA opened by forcing the window and using the window button, infotainment useless, and weeks to get into the garage, where one of the Jaguar guys said they were being asked to work on LR but didn't want to as there was so much wrong, had it new for 6 weeks, went straight back, it was in the garage more than on my drive, I was so looking forward, but wouldn't go near them now,

My wife's 2019 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Dynamic with only 60,000 miles just had a cooling pipe fail, 6 months after the water pump failed and was repaired by the dealer, which took 4 months to get get fixed. This time, though, the cooling failure caused the engine to overheat so badly that she needs a new engine. I'll never buy another Land Rover for the rest of my life.
My colleagues husband has a company RR and she said they have had so many issues with the car since they got it as brand new and also it uses a ton of fuel and they have to visit the fuel station very often.
No one will insure, and if they do insurance will be ridiculous, and no matter how much security you put on the car thieves will always find a way to steal it, pointless
You'd think manufacturers would take security seriously. Perhaps get together and do fingerprint recognition or bring back steering locks and key start.
16.8mpg is exactly what I get on my 2014 L405 V8SC LWB. My word, I hope the insurance nonsense doesn't carry over to the States. I'm paying about $1400/yr with comprehensive and low deductible currently.
Just turned down the delivery of my Range Rover Autobiography this week and had it relisted for sale by the dealership after waiting almost 18 months for it because Land Rover would not even insure me and now waiting deposit return.
The problem is, there aren't many real hardcore engineers in the industry who can think outside the box anymore. Most engineers I have come across lack charisma and enthusiasm; they only pursued their degrees to earn a living and lead a routine life. Additionally, most top-level decision-makers aren't engineers but excellent communicators who can persuade the audience to believe what they are saying. I suspect that the chief engineer at the electronics department of JLR is an excellent communicator but not necessarily a proficient engineer. He likely retains his position because he can present convincing arguments during board meetings. Improving security isn't rocket science; a few lines of code modifications could easily resolve these issues. My biggest concern is why JLR failed to address these issues. Is there a possibility of a criminal gang having linked employees who share secrets of their security platforms to exploit them?

The likely hood of fail will then be low until it gets to the final 10% when it gets high again.
Getting a sensible insurance quote on any Range Rover or Land Rover is a major concern. I am surprised that anyone in the UK can afford to keep one or buy one.!
Did Caterham 7 is as reliable as these Range Rover cars?
I tried confused the price comparison website and the quote was £650. Range Rover garaged at night and not in central London. The AA wanted £4k they clearly didn't want the business but smaller specialist insurers do.
@@1maico1 £650 is totally OK.... I know the garaged thing helps massively.
The "old rotary dial" at 5:22 is not a gear selector, it's a drive mode selector.
It doesn’t how much you bash LR or this SV this will always sell. Don’t care about the reliability, the fuel consumption it’s all about having what other people can’t.
💯
Great fun!

What I don't understand is why can't they just work on the security of the damn car ???
They’re spending £10M doing just that, but the thieves will overcome it or the people to get the vehicle.
Exactly
I believe they are, all new cars have better security and update are being rolled out to older vehicles, but the insurance companies don't want to take the risk as there is no hard evidence yet.

Nice car, but why would anybody buy one? Might be better with a key only starter “Landrover?” If you live in London & can’t insure it park it 100 miles away & catch the HS2 to get home quickly.
No way you have a Range Rover with no garage 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
In the UK, I kinda believe it. Then depending on the thief, that's not gonna stop them unless you have a older car blocking it in

It's amazing how such a low-quality vehicle can be so expensive and sought-after. It's not like Land Rover is new to building cars. They've been building the Range Rover for over half a century, and they still can't get it right.
Just because it’s not Asian
And people with more money than sense keep buying them, which is just as bad.
Low quality? You don't understand how sophisticated this thing is and you certainly cannot afford it.
I heard it's a pleasure to drive and that's why people buy it. I don't think it's low quality and i don't think it's less reliable than any other European car. I really don't think a new BMW, Audi, Mercedes will run passed 300k km without some fixing. Myself i like Japanese cars
What are those engineers doing in JLR? Seriously, since 80’s, their reliability has been dogshit
IWC Topgun.... Nice !
My Brother has a top spec Velar which he hasn’t had for over 8 months and just had a entire new engine fitted, funniest thing of all was the main dealer couldn’t fix , it had to be done by a local specialist dealer.

But, bash on 🙂
yeah right pal..I have a Land Cruiser and your car is a piece of junk compared to mine and wouldnt last 10 minutes at a difficult boat ramp. Stop making excuses for buying junk

It’s about time car manufacturers were hung out to dry for the 1990’s level security they still put on modern cars! There is enough aftermarket stuff they could copy and use!! If they can force them to meet safety and planet saving crap, they can force them to build more secure cars!
Yeah surely they have the tech to enable you to unlock the car with a pin only

Fantastic resale values, mine locked me out in the middle of a field with the engine running, headlights on, couldn't use the app to open as it thought I was driving it, eventually AA opened by forcing the window and using the window button, infotainment useless, and weeks to get into the garage, where one of the Jaguar guys said they were being asked to work on LR but didn't want to as there was so much wrong, had it new for 6 weeks, went straight back, it was in the garage more than on my drive, I was so looking forward, but wouldn't go near them now,

No one will insure, and if they do insurance will be ridiculous, and no matter how much security you put on the car thieves will always find a way to steal it, pointless
Insurance and taxes in the UK are ridiculous, what on Earth are you guys doing
No oil in the transfer case in multiple vehicles sounds more like a disgruntled employee sabotaging the brand than a design flaw.
You'd think manufacturers would take security seriously. Perhaps get together and do fingerprint recognition or bring back steering locks and key start.
Why would anyone buy that when there is the new Cayenne Coupe? I like the big rovers, but this sport looks pretty dated compared to Porsche's options.
