It’s time for an almighty SUV showdown!
We’ve got Mat in the all-new Range Rover Sport SV, and it’s facing off against one of the most popular performance SUVs on the planet - the Lamborghini Urus!
So let’s see how the two compare. Starting with the Range Rover, peer under the bonnet and you’ll find a BMW 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 - the same V8 used to power the M5 CS, no less! This can produce 635hp and 750Nm, with all of the power sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It’s pretty heavy, tipping the scales at 2,485kg, and it’s the most expensive of the two, costing around £165,000!
Next up is the Lambo. It’s housing a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet, and this puts down 650hp and 850Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and it weighs in at 2,200kg. It may be cheaper than the Range Rover, but it doesn’t come cheap, costing around £157,000.
The power output is relatively similar, but can a Range Rover really beat a Lambo over the 1/4-mile? There’s only one way to find out for sure… LET’S RACE!

The last race in neutral was surprisingly not that boring at all(especially Sam pushing!), I wonder if it could be a regular segment
Albeit one could say that considering the owner of the Lambo didn't want to do a break test, the car that would stop in the shortest distance in Netrual would have been more like an break test, than the furthers rolling. Very entertaining nevertheless though.
I think it would have to be weather dependent - as any wind would defeat the comparative element.
@@FFVoyager extra mass would mean RR has more stored kinetic energy at the start, if they'd loaded up the Lambo to the same weight that would have tested the difference in aerodynamics.
Taught going in neutral would hurt the gesrbox
I think the Landrover won the neutral race because it is heavier, has more kinetic energy to shed thru drag and roll resistance.

Everyone is forgetting how overpriced the SV actually is. A base Range Rover Sport is £83k, base SV £185k. It makes cars like the Bentayga V8, Cayenne Turbo etc look cheap 🤣

Let’s unpack this. Great race! RR + BMW Engine makes sense. RR is high on the luxury factor. Even the best performing BMWs are criticized for leaning more towards luxury and comfort vs performance. I’d have to agree. Their refined engines usually sound less monstrous than say a comparable Merc. Nonetheless, they perform at a comparable level or better in many cases.
As far as BMW’s 4.4, I’ve seen the X6M Competition destroy the Urus in consecutive runs. The Urus looks and sounds great though!

Urus does not start at £157k, starts at £188k. Range Rovers price is inflated as it has every option ticked, oozing with carbon, wheels etc. would pick the range all day if they sorted out the theft issue.
